"Nice night at the beach"
Was great we could find a bed and room one block from the boardwalk for our last minute one night stay. A step above camping outGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Simplicity at its finest"
The Summer Place is definitely for people who are looking for a place to sleep and shower and that's about it. This is exactly what my husband and I were looking for and the reviews were helpful in finding a reasonably priced, clean place to rest out heads at night. Everyone was very kind and helpful if we had questions or concerns. Parking was free […] if you parked on a non metered street which was also nice. Overall I enjoyed our stay at the Summer Place. "Only for the young or those on a tight budget"
Definitely affordable and we picked it because of its proximity to the beach. Other than that, a bit too basic and rough around the edges for us Boomers. Paper thin walls and tiny shower. Our neighbors were not rowdy at all, but conversations could be heard as if we were all in the same room! Built in 1905 and only the most basic of upgrades have been […] done since then. Staff was very nice and rooms were cleaned well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"TERRIBLE!!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!"
Absolutely horrble. No place to park, the owner did say hi or welcome - miserbale. Made us park in a tight spot with big jeep and we dented the front of it trying to fit! So worried about the car next to us hitting us because if they wanted to get out they definitely would have hit us! Couldnt find our room so when I came back down the stairs and told […] the owner we couldnt find it and asked if he could show me he said no! Who does that? Get into the room and its got stains on the wall, old bedding and furniture NO AIR CONDITIONER turned on after a hot day at the beach so we had to turn it on and wait for our room to get cool, AND there was NO HOT WATER. We couldn't take a shower. Absolutely ridiculous and when we told the owner he did say sorry for the inconvenience or anything. Thats not how you take care of customers, at least apologize. We wanted to leave right then and there after ALL that and he wouldnt give us a refund. No HOT WATER and no refund. Ill never go back and I warn everyone else NOT TO EVER GO! Great place if you need somewhere to sleep and shower. This place has character. Don't expect a valet, room service, a bell hop, some one to carry your bags or an elevator. Great location for a great price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"if only price matters"
It's probably the best price for a hotel where you can walk to the beach, the boardwalks and shops. However, there is a difference between bare-bones, which can be fine, since you're out all day anyway, and poorly maintained bare bones, which this is. And...they don't go out of their way to be accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient and reasonable rates"
The stay worked out fine. The room was very small, but was what we expected. The rates were reasonable and the owner was accomodating. The location was close to everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"this place sucks!"
It was horrible. The rooms are the size of shoe boxes. This is not a family friendly place. Rooms were damp and the bathroom smelled like urine. The shower isn't big enough to turn around in let alone lather and rinse. The gentleman operating the front desk was the worst at explaining the parking details. Also parking permit must leave a $40 cash deposit […] at the front desk that is not listed on the website. however the sign on the room door said $35. Never again! You have to park 5 blocks away of pay meter parking. Hotel manager answers the front desk in his underwear. Dont bring kids here. This place is so sub-par, Hotels.com should remove this listingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
this is not a hotel but a boarding houseGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This place is a dump!!! Great location, but the rooms are tiny, poorly kept, and dirty feeling. Towels are dried on a line on the roof, outlets are burnt, floors sticky, stained. If you're looking for a youth hostel type place this will work, otherwise fork out the extra $$$ to have a clean safe room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is dirty and it was a worst hotel that I have ever stayed in my whole life. I'm surprised that they are still in business, room size is smaller than bathroom everything is dirty around and smells terrible, the owner or receptionist refused to upgrade our room give us a bigger one and at least cleaner one, but I think that all other rooms […] look and smell the same. It was a terrible experience. People don't go there it is worth it to pay more for clean and not a bathroom size room, witch is actually smells like a bathroom as well. We booked a hotel for three nights but after one night we run away and refunds are not available. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A simple stay for the buck..."
If you're looking for a place to keep your things and have a bed to sleep this place is good for the basics. It is not a luxury stay by any means. The location is great, near the boardwalk and beautiful beach houses. It's a small place but the manager keeps things pretty short and simple. I wish the shower I had there was warmer but other than that […] I can't complain. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"One block from the beach!"
It is a basic no-frills place to sleep in order to be close to the beach. the deck is a nice place to eat and write. The off street parking was helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was the worst accommodation we ever stayed in this country. It's really substandard and virtually no room service provided. The place is very dirty , rooms are very small and the folding bed malfunctioned. The only positive thing about this place is a close proximity to the beach and food shopping.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The worst hotel I ever stayed in"
This is by far the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in. It seemed like management as well as employees at the hotel really don't care about the guest that stay there. "Summer of '42"
Sing with me: "There's a summer place..." A perfect little guest house. I loved it. It offered a clean, comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. That's all I need in a hotel. A block from the beach and two blocks from the main shopping/dining district. I'll be back. Definitely!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Summer Place Hotel is very utilitarian. There is a bed and there is a bathroom, albiet a very tiny shower stall. I brought my own sheets and bath towels after reading some of the comments. The washcloth the hotel provided was filthy to say the least and the towels were brittle. The room wasn't large enough to walk around in and if there are two […] fairly large guests, they aren't going to make it in this room. The majority of the parking in front of the hotel is by meters that run from 10:00 AM - Midnight...so bring plenty of quarters. The only good part of this hotel is the location...walking distance to the beach and some of the best restaurants. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"This "hotel" was the worst I've ever been to"
It was $270 to stay here since it was a Saturday night. Check in starts at 3. We arrived at 4:30-5 and there was no one at the front desk. There is a hand-written envelop with our keys and parking pass anyone could have came and took. We go to our small, DINGY room that smells funny and place our stuff on the uncomfortable bed that sinks in when we […] lay in it due to being so old and used. We see signs on computer paper taped to the doors and walls about no refunds and conserving energy. We have to move the car from the meter so we take our parking pass and have to find a non-metered place to park several blocks away. We walk back and I go in and he's finally there- shirtless and seemed either really sleep deprived or intoxicated. I ask about the rollaway we requested as there was three of us. He said hotels.com didn't charge me for it (they did) and he needed $10 (so i paid $20). Then has me pick a DIRTY AIR MATTRESS out of a pile of them i had to take up the steps and blow up myself...is that a roll away? I tried two of them and they both wouldn't stay inflated. It barely fit in the room. We just all three crammed in the bed. Earlier he asked for a $40 key and parking pass deposit in cash when i was getting the air mattress and i never went back down with it. One of the pillow cases even had a stain on it! The comforter felt awful and smelled funny. You could hear everything in the hallway and next door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The cheery sunflowers growing around the exterior of A Summer's Place did not match the atmosphere of the room itself. The room was super small, the bed was advertised as king size but was not, and the A/C unit could not keep the room cool enough to sleep comfortably. The advertised coffee pot in room ended up being communal coffee pot in lobby. Room […] was clean and host was pleasant, but overall, this was a disappointment. "NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL"
This hotel was the worse hotel I had ever stayed at and I'm a traveler. The front clerk was a very nasty man. Once I had checked in I was calling Hotels.com to find out if I could check out and get my money back. Plenty of violation. Of course I couldn't get back any of my money so I had to stay there for one night only. My mistake was that I didn't […] read any of the reviews because if I had I wouldn't have stayed there. So I'm writing this review because I don't want anyone else to waste there time or money on this hotel. Hotels.com should really reconsider even advertising this Hotel on there website. "Not worth your money"
Very poor customer service and awful room. We arrived an hour before the check-in time but we went in to the front desk anyway. As we entered the hotel, the manager simply said he wasnt going to answer any questions until the check-in time and that he was stressed out! Very old and raggedy room. Sofa bed is unsleepable--we even had to prop it up with […] our small cooler. Parking is free street parking with a pass ($40 refundable deposit) or $15 on site but you could get blocked in. Not worth $210 that we paid...more like a $50 roadside motel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
When I pulled up to the hotel, the first thing I heard was women in their 50s screaming at me and my guests that it was not okay to park where we had parked, even though the hotel gave no instruction as to where we should park upon arrival. I walked into the lobby of the building to check in, and there was no one to be found. The owner was not present […] at the desk, and it took him upwards of 5 minutes to arrive in his underwear, nonetheless. He gave me the key and briefly explained where my room was. He informed me that because of a booking issue, my party was upgraded to an apartment style room. My party and I went to our room, and it took upwards of 10 minutes to unlock the broken doorknob on the door. What I had reserved was a room with one queen and one twin bed. What I was "upgraded" to was a double bed and a broken futon with exposed sharp metal that didn't lock in place. I would never come back to this place ever again. I think the only positive thing to come out of my stay at the Summerplace Hotel was it's close proximity to the beach. It's a 3 minute walk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect For What It Is"
First the bad: when we arrived the top blanket (which you expect to remove anyway) was stained and both pillowcases had smears of what I hope was makeup on them. One of the smears was brown, so I really hope so. We exchanged them and one of the new ones had stains as well. There were also apparent mascara stains on one of the towels, and in the morning […] there were several little flies in the room. Also true: the phone doesn't work, but if you go downstairs the owner is readily available. Next the good: sheets and cover blanket were clean, bed was incredibly comfortable, minifridge and a TV with cable, WiFi, bathroom was good, street parking with refundable deposit for a pass (owner let us use the pass for the day even after we checked out), A/C took a while but then was good, the location is EXCELLENT. So just accept that you might have to do a little cleaning when you get there and it is a perfectly good place to crash while you spend your time on the beach (3 blocks) or strip (3 blocks away), I would go back. Again, the location is perfect. Considering how expensive the hotels in the area are (this one cost more than staying in some places in downtown DC) they could keep it cleaner, but compared to the other hotels in the area it is a real bargain, and you really don't want to drive 10 minutes back and forth from the Econolodge. <5 min walk to the beach, ~12min walk to Dogfish Head Brewpub. Not a fan of the no refund cancellation policy but it is understandable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

my girlfriend and I have stayed here twice now and we like it. We are very easy going and don't care about lots of amenities. If you need fancy and pampering this may not be your place. "Disgusting but great location"
I thought I had booked a standard room with two beds as the picture on hotels.com suggested but it was one standard bed. We had and extra person with us, so three altogether. So we rented a "cot" (air mattress) for $10 which deflated in the middle of the night. The hotel manager is really apathetic to guests. "Get what you pay for"
For $50/night a block away from the beach, you get what you pay for. There is no service. I picked my keys up in an envelope for my stay from an unattended front desk. Rooms kinda like a dorm room. "Great beach overnighter!"
The hotel provided the essentials for a beach hotel and if you talk nicely to the owner he extends the same graciousness to you. I checked out at 11am and was given permission to keep the parking pass until later that day. Located just a few blocks from the main drag, this rather quaint hotel is just down the street from Jake Seafood Place and this hotel has just the basic amenities needed for a complete night's stay. The hotel was fine and pretty much what I expected. When you pay the same price for two nights as you would pay for one night at any of the other local hotels you can't expect the same quality. "Nice location, bad hotel"
The location was great in Rehoboth, near everything. The price was also great, probably as low as you'll get there. But the service was horrible, I didn't once see the manager since he was no where to be found. Almost felt like we were stranded there. Our room was not clean, towels felt like sandpaper and doorknobs and keys are so old, almost got locked […] out. Also, the hotel is loud and walls are paper thin. People were walking in and out of the hotel at all hours of the night and you could hear everything, doors slamming, loud talking and cursing. Maybe we just had bad neighbors, but it was loud. Summer Place.. hmmm where do I start. The location was perfect just a block off the beach and a few short blocks to the main drag in Rehoboth which made it convenient, but that is where the pros end. The hotel itself was more like an aged bed and breakfast minus the breakfast. The rates were overpriced the room was filthy with blood on the sheets and […] hairs all over the bathroom. Good value and a great location. You can walk everywhere including the beach. We had the efficiency which included kitchenette although the restaurants are great so we did not make use of it. "Great location, but stay somewhere else"
I needed to work near the beach Tuesday and Weds, so I thought I'd just book a cheap room and save 4 hours of driving...This place (you really can't call it a motel) is a block from the boardwalk - perfect! But it was really truly disgusting and even the little things were off. The lights worked - but they were all unplugged when I arrived. The bathroom […] floor was sticky, the nightstand's drawer front had fallen off, the air conditioning unit was not exactly mounted in the wall and the filter was thick with dust. I was in room 20, on the third floor - this particular room is tiny, others might be nicer. The halls are redolent of musty carpet, the onsite parking will cost you $5, or you can borrow a neighborhood parking permit for a $40 deposit. The TV did work, and I'm sorry to say HGTV can pretty much distract me from anything. Still... There was sand in the bed, the towels were a dingy grey... if you had an elderly relative with a neglected guest room and no energy to clean, aging furniture and diminished eye sight so the dirt wasn't apparent, this could feel like visiting that relative. Otherwise, it just seems like a mistake. Stay somewhere else. Sleeping in your car might be better. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Rented 1bedroom apt. The rooms were not clean, floors dirty, mirrors cloudy with a film. Everything there has seen its better days. Counter top falling off base cabinets. Electrical outlet for dryer cable literally ran across the wall exposed. Toilet rocked and not secured to the floor. Floors are vinyl tiles and filthy. Throw rug, made from indoor […] outdoor carpet in living room area frayed and hasn't been cleaned in 10 years. Iron didn't work at all. Lampshade in bedroom melted against the light bulb. Hotel garbage cans stored at the apartment entrance on the ground floor, this is what you smell every time you enter the appt. Obvious no money is being put back into the property at all. Outside landscaping not cleaned or planted for a few years. Plants pulled out and laying across the front of the hotel. No front desk staff present before 9:15am.
