I chose the Drury in Amarillo because they don’t charge extra for pets. Last time I visited Amarillo with pets, the less nice hotel we stayed at charged extra for pets. Drury is MUCH nicer than them and is in a better neighborhood for the same price. Win! The carpet in our room was looped carpet and one of my dogs had trouble walking on it because of […] her too-long nails. Her nails would stick to the carpet and she'd have to really pull to get free with every step. I ended up putting the decorative bedspread on the floor so that she'd have space to walk without getting stuck. There was sufficient grassy area for my two dogs to do their business and there is a doggy bag dispenser too. There is also a field across the parking lot. I loved the free refreshments, etc. Every staff member I encountered was pleasant. The hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants. I was on a non-smoking floor and did not have any issue with smelling any smoke (yay!). I didn't have any issues with noise, although my dogs did hear some things I didn't hear and barked a few times. I wish the hotel was more centered in the city. I didn't like the proximity to the mall (traffic). I also would have liked lotion to be complimentary in the bathroom (the bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap). I'm sure they had some lotion bottles at the front desk, but I didn't ask. But all things considered, those are minor things that are far outweighed by the good things. Read more

The hotel was nice, beds comfortable, clean. Location is great. Free dinner time fast food was a nice touch. However I couldn't get the room temperature cooler than 75 degrees even when I set the thermostat to 72. And the indoor pool was freezing! The personnel staffing the evening food service were impersonal and impatient with the guests. The food court area including the tables were sticky and not clean. The quality of the food was marginal. The desk clerk on the evening shift was very personal and professional, but not the other personnel that we encountered. Can be very congested during evening check in time. More staff would be helpful. More luggage carts are needed. Only 2 elevators for 6 floors. You need to have good manners & be patient. Our original room's air conditioner was not functioning very well when we checked-in. The manager came up right away after we called the front desk and tried to fix it. When she was unable to, she helped us move into a suite just down the hall. This is why we always stay at the Drury, their CUSTOMER SERVICE is THE BEST!!!!

I loved the fact that after driving all day, they provide a buffet supper so that I did not even have to leave the hotel. Everyone was also very friendly! Will definitely stay again on my way to Denver!

Came to Amarillo for a CEU Class and got caught in the middle of a blizzard. Hotel staff was very professional and very accommodating, considering what the had to deal with. I have stayed at this particular Drury in the past and have always been pleased with the hotel. The only negative was the fact that we stayed on the 6th floor, where the meeting rooms are located. They apparently had a dog convention at this hotel and I was woke up twice while here from dogs barking. The 3rd night I did not even stay and drove home 7 hours just so I could get a good nights sleep.

Stayed here in November 2012 over Thanksgiving. Pros: Nice staff, good free breakfast. Modern enough. Clean. Not a bad price. Also super convenient to shopping and a good movie theater. Cons: It is "pet friendly" and a dog barking in a nearby room woke me up in the morning. Hallway on 6th floor smelled BAD of cigarettes (we had a non smoking room). […] Shower heat in the morning went from freezing to scalding off and on... Very nice stay. I especially liked how pet friendly they were. There were lots of dogs but obviously the staff mkes sure the grounds stay clean. The free breakfast was one of the best I've seen at a hotel. We like it so much we already booked a room there for our trip back through on our way home.

Hotel - check-in, room, and check-out were all great. Room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The hotel usually has an afternoon "happy hour" with extensive snacks. The snacks were not up top par with those the last time we were through Amarillo about a year ago and also stayed at this hotel.

We had a very enjoyable stay one night on our way to New Mexico and another stay on our way back to Texas. The people that work at this hotel are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The hotel is dog friendly and the beds are great. We enjoyed their breakfasts and the nightly food served from 5:30 - 7pm as well.

Hotel is in good condition. Breakfast could be improved, Had a real problem, I, have never seen so many dogs, some large in any hotel. All rooms are pet available, they should keep a floor or two for non pet owners. Will not stay at Drury Inns again, due to this policy.
