Hotel Uvala - Dubrovnik

This was a decent hotel along Lapad Bay. The #4 bus stops right outside the hotel. If coming from the airport take the airport bus to Pile Gate then hop on the #4 bus to the hotel. We really enjoyed our time in Dubrovnik, it is a fantastic place. Their is some nice swimming across from the hotel at lapad beach if you want to take a break from the old […] town. Overall the hotel was alright but the swimming pool definitely needed a cleaning and the WIFI which they said should work in the public areas did not work for us anywhere on site (we have the new IPad). Uvala nestled on a peninsula close to historical center of Dubrovnik is a gem. 5 min effortless walk to the Adriatic and next to the bus stop where you can catch a shuttle into town easily. Rooms are a little dated (70s Tito kisch?) but the patio views unmatchable and priceless. Definitely high value.

If I had known that this was a hotel that accepted coach parties I might not have booked it. Whilst looking modern outside, it is a bit tired inside. The carpet in my room (as well as in the corridor) was worn and dirty and someone appeared to have run amok with a bottle of bleach. Would ditch the dull orangy/beige bed covers and curtains which dated […] the room. It would not take much to update the rooms and make them look more welcoming. Nice view over the bay and useful pullout line to dry washing. The hotel had both indoor and outdoor pools, but both were shallow and the tiles looked like they could do with a bit of a clean. The water in the outdoor pool felt very cold, much colder than the sea. There is also a sundeck, but there are only a few sunbeds that get the sun all day round. If you want heat without direct sunlight that's fine, but I wanted sun all day. Breakfast was fine. I didn't try the lunch or evening meal as the dining room felt a little too "works canteen" for me. Being slightly out of season the bar was not manned all the time and most afternoons I had to go in search of someone to serve me. A bell would not go amiss. The bus into the town centre stopped almost outside the hotel so it was very convenient for reaching the old town without paying old town hotel prices. Lapad itself was a bit of a disappointment. It was a bit Blackpool. Fortunately I was on the right side of the bay away from direct contact with the Blackpool-like elements of the resort. Read more

Great hotel about 3 miles outside of Dubrovnik Old Town. Costs around £3 return on the frequent buses to get to the centre. Rooms comfortable and adequate although no tea and coffee making facilities but bags of storage space. We paid extra for a sea view. Staff all keen to help. We stayed at this hotel in May 2012. The room was comfortable and a good size for the price we paid. We did try the hotel food but we were not overly impressed. The hotel is close to a local bus stop which takes you straight into the old town in around 15 minutes.

We booked Uvala instead of the more expensive Hotel Ariston and Neptune. We are really glad we did. The Uvala was a very nice well priced hotel in a nice location. You need to get bus #4 from the Old town (stop right outside the hotel), otherwise it would be a 30+ min walk, but only 10-15 mins on the bus - which run very regularly. There are some touristy […] restaurants about 10 min walk from the hotel, but for best options of eating, check out trip advisor or lonely planet recommendations. We had a massage and the 'spa' was very good and reasonably priced for a hotel. The staff were extremely helpful. The only downside was that because we were there in the changeover of the season, the hotel was in the process of switching the main air-con from heating mode to cooling. It was a bit hot in our room overnight and the air-con didn't help. I think we were just unlucky as the week before it was cold and the week after, they probably had the cooling operational. We paid extra for a Superior Room and were disappointed that the carpet was stained and worn in several places. The room was quite big, and had a balcony onto the (empty) swimming pool at the front of the hotel.The bath was quite high, and anyone with difficulties in moving would find it hard to get in and out. We had internet because we had read in […] a previous review that you would get it if you asked at the reception for a cable. The breakfast buffet was just satisfactory: poor choice of cereals and muesli, sometimes only white bread and rolls available, coffee awful, tasteless cheese, orange drink (although it says it is juice). Staff were nearly all friendly and helpful, although a couple were a bit morose. We had to ask for slippers and presume the same would apply to bathrobes. The music from downstairs was quite loud and played all day and into the evening. The TV only had Croatian channels plus BBC World in poor quality for the first three days, then there was a "fault" with it and BBC was replaced by German channel 1 (again in very poor quality). The bus stop is just outside the hotel and the good, clean, punctual buses run into town every 20 minutes until midnight. Although it was cold, the room was amply heated at all times and there was plenty hot water for the shower. We would have preferred to give the hotel a 3.5 if available. Read more

We stayed at the beginning of April immediately after the hotel had re-opened for the summer season. Although not every facility was availabe, we really appreciated being able to use the jacuzzi and sauna with fewer other guests around. We were made to feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. The bar service was friendly and for a 4-star hotel, it was all very affordable. The indoor pool was still not warm enough for swimming, but actually it was a nice space to sit in and read on one of the rainy days and both jacuzzis were avaiable to use. The view from the room was wonderful and because the balcony has been well designed, it was sheltered enough to sit out sometimes, even so early in the season. For a special, yet affordable nice dinner, stroll round the bay to the Hotel More. We would definitely choose the Uvala for our base again if we came back to Dubrovnik. The hotel was good, staff were friendly & room was good. However I was only having a short stay and it was a good trek (about 30 mintues, walking quickly) to get into the centre of Dubrovnik. For this reason, I'd recommend choosing a hotel closer to the centre.

Hotel Uvala is very comfortable. Its wellness center is great and its swimmingpool as well. Breakfast buffet has a variety of fresh products of high quality and the location although it is pretty far from the city center is very well comunicated through bus 4 which stops just at the hotel main entrance and has a beatiful view of the bay.

In a nice area of Dubrovnik, would have been an excellent position to see the sun set, but we arrived in one of the worst storms in 60years! The restaraunt/Bar was quite brightly lit, and packed due to no one wanting to leave the hotel in the weather, so service was quite slow at first. Room was a good size with a nice balcony. we made use of the onsite […] spa the next day. We had booked massages at 10am and were told we can use the facilities for an hour before or after, however, the spa, sauna and steam room were luke warm due to only been turned on when we arrived. Hit kunne jeg gjerne tenke meg å dra igjen med familie/kjæreste. Jeg hadde ikke toalettpapir på badet da jeg ankom hotellet, men det var nok bare et uhell og TV'en var i dårlig stand med konstant skurring. Bassenget og jacuzzi'en innendørs var bra i et svært lyst lokale. Rommet uten utsikt mot sjøen var rolig med utsikt mot skogen, så det var deilig […] og rolig med morgensol. Frokosten var kjempebra, selv om det til tider ble tomt for grovt brød. We zijn net terug van een verblijf in hotel Uvala. Ons weekend viel een beetje in het water door de regen die viel. Gelukkig hadden we een prima hotel met en sauna , zwembad en aardig personeel. Die Halbinsel Lapad flankiert eine hübsche Bucht mit öffentlichen Stränden (relativ klein, Kiesstrand ) und vielen guten Lokalen (hervorzuheben: Levanat, ca. 10 min […] auf der anderen Buchtseite). Pools und Whirlpool sind wie in der Beschreibung, Rezeption immer besetzt, Frühstück ausgezeichnet und umfassende Auswahl, Personal ausgesprochen freundlich und spricht gut Englisch, Zimmer nett und mit großem windgeschützten Balkon mit sonnenuntergangstauglichem Meerblick und das ganze Hotel ist blitzsauber. Die Rezeption hilft auch mit Mietwagenvermittlung, neben dem Hotel ist eine Agentur, bei der man Ausflüge (z.B. Elafitische Inseln) buchen kann.
