Modern malls give way to ancient souks selling silks, spices, gold, perfumes, and a lively fish market. The St. George has three discos on the tenth floor, and a great view of the Dubai River. Staff was very friendly. You could walk to the gold souk, the water taxis, a library, and the Emir's old palace. The hotel was a hidden jewel.

The St. George's had three discos and a very good restaurant on the main floor. The staff were very friendly. You could walk to the gold souk, the water taxis and there was even a local library right in front of the hotel. I had a great view of the river from my suite. I have stayed in five hotels in Dubai, and this was by far the best of the five.
