Hotel Vello d'Oro - Taormina

Other than the difficulty in driving on the narrow street to get to the hotel, this hotel was fantastic. The views from our terrace were breathtaking, the food in the hotel restaurant was very good and reasonably priced and the staff extremely courteous.

This hotel has been situated perfectly, with magnificent view on Ionic sea. It is located in the city center, just above the main city square. You can hear the music from the caffe, but not after midnight. It is not loud, mostly Italian songs, quite expected for the location. Hotel is clean and cosy. Furniture is rustical, but functional. Staff is kind […] and correct. Food (breakfast and dinner) were good.Due to travel itinerary, I had to change two different rooms. Although the first one was smaller with smaller terace (the second one was huge and room as well), both prvovided similar view, comfort and joy. The hotel is very nice and clean and even though it's a few steps away from the town centre, it is really quite at night.. Parking is a problem in Taormina, you need to book a parking space with the hotel as it only has 4, if you don't manage there are two big car parks in town. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, not much to chose from.

We are a couple and asked for a double bedroom but were given a single bedroom with a narrow single bed in it. Staff agreed that they had made an error with room allocation but said they had no more rooms available and couldn't change the booking. After much 'discussion' however, they finally 'found' a double bedroom for us. Room was very basic and […] very loud music from restaurant outside, til around midnight - 1 a.m. Many facilities in hotel broken e.g. wi-fi not working; air-conditioning broken; call bell to reception (from rear entrance door) not working. Très déçu par cet hôtel. Petite chambre sans balcon (contrairement à notre réservation), vieillotte, sans charme, mal isolée et donnant sur un restaurant-cabaret avec une chanteuse qui chante jusque très tard dans la nuit. L'accueil y a été glacial.

Avevo prenotato una matrimoniale per una notte, scegliendo naturalmente l'hotel in questione per le stanze la vista e tutto. Arrivato sul posto mi sono sentito dire che siamo stati spostati in un altro albergo, vergognoso. Mai piu'.

Avevo prenotato una stanza matrimoniale con balcone e vista panoramica; il direttore della struttura aveva invece pensato bene di riservarci una squallida e male odorante stanza, con bagno in camera chiuso da "elegantissima" porta a soffietto marrone, senza balcone e con vista cantiere. Grazie all'intervento degli operatori di Hotels, ai quali rivolgo […] i miei complimenti per la professionalità, abbiamo ottenuto il cambio della stanza con una matrimoniale in linea con quanto prenotato e pagato in anticipo, ben 3 mesi prima del nostro arrivo (hanno comunque dovuto trattare con la struttura per tutto il pomeriggio prima di farsi accordare il cambio). La qualità del servizio erogato dall'hotel Vello D'Oro è molto bassa; la struttura è vecchia e in reception non sono affatto cordiali. Read more

Valitisin tämän hotellin juuri sijaintinsa vuoksi, sillä halusin tällä kertaa majoituksen aivan Taorminan keskustasta. Hotellin henkilökunta oli erittäin ystävällistä, ja heiltä sai aina neuvoja kysyttäessä. Pidin positiivisena myös sitä, että hotelli tarjosi mahdollisuuden kuljetukseen suoraan alas rannalle minibussikuljetuksella sekä illastamiseen […] hotellissa edulliseen hintaan. Aamiainen oli mielestäni hyvä ja runsaskin, jos sitä vertaa tavalliseen italialaiseen aamiaiseen, ja illallisella saimme erittäin hyvää miekkakalaa. ホテルのフロントの対応の悪さ　部屋のクーラーがつぶれていると言っても信用せず何度もロビーに行くありさま！あげくの果てに部屋から電話しても5分で行くと言いながら30分待っても来ず。また電話すると嫌そうな態度でこれまた今すぐ行くの一言であしらわれてしまいました。災厄なホテルでした。残念

Camera piuttosto piccola e non ottimamente climatizzata. Per il resto tutto più che positivo, dal personale molto cortese ai locali comuni alla posizione centrale. Ottima la vista dalla terrazza e il servizio spiaggia. Certamente da tornarci: sono stato lì per un congresso e ne ho anche approfittato per il mare.

We hadden een ruime kamer met een groot terras met schitterend uitzicht over de baai, de etna en het pittoreske centrum van Taormina. Gewoon vragen of je een kamer met zeezicht kan krijgen als die er is zullen ze je het geven. Personeel receptie erg vriendelijk en altijd bereid je te helpen. Als je wilt regelen zij het vervoer naar het strand(p.p. ca.7 […] euro retour incl. ligbed+parasol), of vliegveld(taxi ca. 70 euro in ca 45min ) kan ook per bus (p.p. ca. 7 euro in ca. 1.5 uur gaat regelmatig) . Het ontbijt is een Italiaans buffetontbijt maar prima, koffie,thee, croussant, brood, jam, kaas en salami, muesli en yoghurt en kan ook op het terras met uitzicht op zee genuttigd worden.(Verwacht geen verse jus en knapperige warme broodjes dan kan je beter thuis blijven!).Het hotel staat bol van kunst, beelden, schilderijen, marmeren ingelegde tafels etc. Je kan nog zien dat het in de jaren 70 een chique en modern hotel was. Als je nu binnenkomt waan je je terug in die tijd maar als je dat niet erg vindt heb je een ruime schone kamer met alles erin en een perfecte ligging midden in het centrum.Wij hebben er een heerlijke tijd gehad en zou het zo een ander aanraden. Goed en mooi hotel. Schone kamers met een groot terras waar je uitkijkt op de zee. Beetje moeilijk bereikbaar met de auto. Ontbijt voor Italiaanse begrippen redelijk tot goed. Jammer dat de airco niet helemaal goed werkte. Zeker een aanrader.

La posizione dell'Hotel e' strateggica, ci si trova nel cuore di Taormina. Dalle terrazze e dalle camere con vista si puo' godere di un panorama unico. Wir waren sehr positiv vom Hotel überrascht und bis auf einen Portier waren alle Bediensteten außerordentlich freundlich und entgegenkommend. Unser Zimmer lag sehr zentral zum Piazza IX Aprile hinaus und war dennoch sehr ruhig und wir konnten problemlos ein - und ausschlafen. Wir hatten einen Balkon, vom dem man aus das Meer sehen konnte. Die Klimaanlage […] funktionierte einwandfrei. Das Hotel selbst ist wunderschön mit Dachterrasse, Verzierungen an den Decken und tollen Sitzgelegenheiten auf den Fluren(sogar mit Leseecken). Wir würden JEDERZEIT wieder dort einkehren und bedenkenlos Freunden und Bekannten empfehlen, dort zu buchen!! Einziges Manko: Für Strandurlauber ist das Hotel nicht besonders zu empfehlen, da es bis zum Strand 760Stufen sind. Es gibt auch eine Kabelbahn, aber dennoch braucht man gute 20Minuten, bis man da ist. Allerdings bietet das Hotel den Vorzug, absolut zentral zu liegen, sodass man abends ohne Umstände Essen gehen kann oder einfach nur Flanieren kann. Read more

L'hotel Vello d'Oro est en position centrale, juste au dessus de la place principale de Taormina. L'accès se fait soit par le "Corso Umberto", artère principale du village, soit par la route qui passe derrière l'hotel (pratique pour ceux qui arrivent en voiture ou taxi). L'hotel possède deux magnifiques terrasses d'où on peut admirer la ville, le théatre […] grec, l'Etna, etc. Notre chambre était large et propre avec un joli balcon d'où on voyait la mer. Le personnel a été très disponible. Une anecdote : le dernier jour nous avons libéré la chambre à 11h, notre train partait dans la soirée, et nous avons passé la journée à la plage. Non seulement ils ont gardé nos valises, mais à notre retour de la plage on a mis à notre disposition une chambre, pour qu'on puisse prendre une douche et se reposer avant le départ. Read more

Vue plongeante sur Taormine avec un restaurant en contrebas qui joue tous les soirs de la musique jusqu'à 3 heures du matin, relayé ensuite par le karaoké du pub situé juste en dessous. Le personnel, peu sympathique, explique que ce n'est tout de même pas de leur faute si le voisinage fait du bruit et vous propose de changer pour une chambre plus petite, […] soi-disant plus calme (moins de soirées bruyantes...) sans air conditionné et, bien sûr, sans aucune compensation. Arriviamo ed entriamo da una porta su una strada insulsa.....e ci troviamo al quarto piano di un hotel con arredi e statue Gotico moderno(tutto abbastanza inquietante),,,,,la nostra camera è a quel piano.....entriamo.......giriamo a sinistra e dico"figata".....un micro salottino e l'alcova al di la di un muro con un foro circolare circondato dal ferro […] battuto(sempre abbastanza inquietante,,,,come del resto il soffitto ;) )....poi la terrazza(siamo stati molto fortunati),esco e fra un po svengo....è grandissima.....il mare di Taormina davanti,,,,l'Etna a destra.....il teatro greco a sinistra.......e la piazza principale e il corso sotto di noi...... Cosa dire,dopo esserci abbracciati,prendiamo l'ascensore e scendiamo al primo piano..........direttamente nel centro di Taormina! Cosa dire,l'esperienza in questo hotel è stata molto positiva......l'unica pecca? La colazione non era all'altezza.......ma siamo stati molto contenti comunque. ;) Read more
