We have stayed at Stella Maris 3-4 times and usually book one or a few nights there whenever we go to Algarve. It's a great budget option from which you can explore the region. The neighborhood is very quiet. There are a few restaurants and shops around, and more within a 15-20min walk. The beach is about a 5-10min walk. There is a pine forest adjacent […] to the hotel, which is great for jogging, and after that there are open fields. The hotel is newly built and has friendly staff. The rooms are very spacious. Even the studio apartments have a large combined living room/bedroom and a small kitchen. All rooms we've stayed in have had large balconies and bathrooms. The decor is modern, with light wood furniture in IKEA-style. There is plenty of free parking. The rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable. However, we have seen silverfish in the bathrooms, which should really be taken care of. Other than that, we are happy to recommend the hotel to others and wouldn't hesitate to come back. Read more

Lovely rooms but awful service. This was the wrong choice of Hotel for an October break. No bar, no restaurant and rain, not a great combination when your between resorts. Did have a couple of little requests before I arrived to which they did 50%. Staff seemed on wind down mode, asked if it was ok to smoke on Balcony and subsequently asked for an ashtray […] which took 2 days to arrive. What I spent in Taxis getting about would have paid for the hilton in Vilamoura. That said, there is a new resort being built opposite which should improve the whole area. Hotel was spotless with good facilities, large studio apartment with a reasonable sized balcony overlooking trees. It's in quiet location which is lovely, 5 minutes walk from the best local beach (which is huge) and supermarket, and just a 15 minute taxi drive away from Albufiera and Vilamoura. The small praire de falesia town is nice but very small so we went to restaurants in Albufiera, Vilamoura and Olhos de Agua for more choice, and just to note that there is no cashpoint within walking distance of the hotel. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and would go out of their way to make us feel comfortable; they booked taxis for us every night and also booked our day trips to water parks and our activities such as jet skiing. The room was large and spacious and had two air conditioners that could be used together or independently. The kitchen contained all the require utilities, fridge, cooker and hob and all the necessary cooking utensils. There was a spacious balcony area. It was certainly a well equipped apartment!

Hotel is of good quality with great area for small kids and somewhat close to a good beach... Pool area is also good and room very spacious and clean... As mentioned by others, sofa bed is far from comfortable though... Do not go for the half-board unless you really dont want to leave the hotel... It is very limited for dinner options and not incredible […] tasting (for a restaurant in Portugal)... You are likely better off in quality and price at the nearby restaurants... The main issue to me was the lack of interest of the manager in makim himself available when requested and the inflexibility presented... On arrival at this hotel we were very pleased to find it was very clean and fairly modern. Very spacious one bedroom apartment for a family of 4 with separate bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and very big living/dining area. We were given 2 put up beds for the kids which was great as there was plenty of room in our apartment to leave them up the whole stay […] as opposed to making up sofa beds. Kitchen utensils were very clean as was the bathroom. Had a lovely sized balcony too for us to enjoy with a glass of wine late at night when the kids were in bed. The grounds are well kept and the pool areas very clean. The children's pool at the rear of the hotel is wonderful. The location of the hotel is in a very quiet area near a pine forest. There is an impressive new hotel in the course of construction further up the road due to open in Sept (can't see that happening!) but even so we were never interrupted or bothered by the building work as it appears that the major external construction work had been completed. Further up the road is a little square which has a supermarket and a few shops and restaurants - we recommend Flor De Mar restaurant. You'll find a bigger supermarket called the 'Intermarche' in Olhos D'Agua which is well worth the taxi fare as you'll find far more extensive products, fresh fish and meat etc and things are cheaper anyway. If you just want a quiet cheap week away in the sun in a lovely clean & well looked after hotel then you won't be disappointed. Read more

Stayed Oct 2011. Hotel looked nice and studio apartment was spacious, attractive and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The only items needed were a washing up cloth, liquid and a corkscrew (altho all were available in the local shop)! Ate breakfast and lunch in the hotel restaurant during our stay and enjoyed both - lunch in particular was […] extremely tasty. Bed was made each day and fresh towels given. TV picked up about 4 English channels (incl BBC1). Pool area well kept with separate Jacuzzi. Hotel aprox 5 - 7 mins walk from GORGEOUS beach where we spent a lot of our time. You'll pass a selection of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and food shop with ATM on the way to the beach. Resort was fairly quiet at the time of our trip, but there is a bit more life in the strip a little walk away on the 'main' road. The bus stop for the bus into Albuferia is also in this area. There's a good number of services each day on this route. Hotel is about 10/12 mins drive from Albuferia town - make sure you have exact driving directions before you leave home if you are hiring a car! Larger supermarkets are available between Albuferia and the resort. Vilamoura is aprox 30mins drive and is definitely worth a visit too! Read more

The hotel was very clean and the room was very spacious. Plenty of room for two people or more. Basic cooking facilities considering we were self-catering. When we couldn't find a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine the receptionist said we could take the bottle to the restaurant for it to be opened there, rather than just providing us with a corkscrew. […] Obviously they don't want you buying your own wine to drink! We ate one evening meal in the restaurant and wouldn't go back again. The meals were buffet style and not much thought had gone into the menu. We saw quite a few residents going into the restaurant and looking at the food, then deciding to go elsewhere. The hotel is in a quiet area, 10 mins from a beautiful beach, although elderly people may find it difficult to go up and down the steep steps to the beach. Although we couldn't fault the hotel, apart from the restaurant, we did find it a little too quiet. You could get by with buses/taxes but would be advisabe to hire a car. Also there is a very large complex being built across the road from the hotel and I'm not sure if this will spoil the quiet for some people. We did find a local cafe opposite a local small supermarket. It had a very nice relaxed atmosphere and a particularly very welcoming waitress there in the evenings. Read more

Walk past the square and local supermarket to the top of the road, turn left at the roundabout and carry on until you pass the Alpinus hotel on the right. At the main road, turn left, cross over the road and you find the Lagosteira. Before crossing over the road, if you carry on, you will see another supermarket on the right, the cafe is up on the left past the chemist. Albufeira is worth a visit on the bus and Villamoura is a must, 40min walk along the beach. The International Evangelical Church at Vale Judeu on Sunday was very friendly and welcoming.There are no activities in or around the hotel, the usual excursions are available. Excellent hotel apartment complex, would recommend highly. Room came with twin beds, kitchen, living room area and a tv with a few English channels (BBC1 was a bonus). Kitchen had essentials like fridge, cooker, cutlery, plates and glasses but you will have to buy any basics like coffee, salt or cooking oil you might need. Hotel has a restaurant but […] I never ate there, bar downstairs too that serves cocktails which is handy, expecially on Saturday night when the karoake is in full swing. It's about 10 minutes (13 euro) in a taxi from Albufeira town so its a bit out of the way but in the immediate area are a few bars, restaurants, shops and a supermarket which are quite sufficient if you are staying less than a week. Felesia Beach is a 5-10 minute walk and well worth a look as it is lined with incredible orange sandstone cliffs and the wide sandy beach goes on for miles and miles. So it's a great place to stay if you are a family or a couple looking for a quiet holiday by the pool or beach. If you up for some carnage then this is definitely not for you, go into Albufeira or nearer the strip. Read more

A family of 4 with children aged 11 and 13, we have just returned from the Stella Maris in Falesia. The hotel is a little remote but that was fine for us. It was clean, freindly and had a lovely pool area, which was 'policed' for unfair lounger 'bagging' which was great! Breakfasts were excellent with a good choice ranging from cereals, cooked options […] - through to fruit - with english style sausages! Dinner (we chose half board) was very limited and a bit like school dinner - but was adequete. Studio bedroom was spacious and well equipped with NO noise whatsoever. Unfortunately the beds were AWFUL. For a family of four, two singles were pushed together which were Ok but the third and fourth members got a converted sofa and a Z-bed. The converted sofa had a mattress so thin you could feel all the lats and was unbelievably uncomfortable. We referred to it as sleeping on the 'gate'. Multiple blankets and what looked like a spare pair of curtains softened it a bit - but it was the short straw option every night. The Z-Bed simply fell to bits and we put the mattress on the floor! The lifts were very erratic and we used the stairs most of the time. Location wise, it is a hot ten minute walk to a beautiful beach that can have six foot waves one day and be a mill pond the next. There is a lovely piazza with coffee shops and restaurants which are good value for money. We really enjoyed our stay but for drawing straws for beds each night! Read more

This hotel is away from the busy tourist areas, it's in a quiet location with the beach just a little walk away. There are a few places to eat, drink and do supermarket shopping very near by. We hired a moped for our 7 nights in the Algarve; it's worth checking out Olhos de agua, Albufeira itself and try to make it to Portimao (Praia de rocha) 40 km […] away but possibly the best beach in Europe. But equally the hotel has a beautiful clean swimming pool, with plenty of sunbeds and a jacuzzi, restaurant and bar for a poolside holiday. The apartment was huge, we weren't really expecting such a great room - we booked last minute and we were surprised by a full equipt kitchen, dining table, lounge area and a huge balcony. The staff were all happy and helpful for our needs. I did use the internet in the foyer briefly as it was 2 euros per 15 minutes a bit steep! But that was not big deal. The Stella Maris hotel is perfect for a family holiday or a quiet relaxing holiday for singles or couples. If your looking for bars and late nights, lots of tourists partying you wont find it here. Saying that you can still take a bus/taxi easily to areas which are more about night life. Definately recommend this hotel, and would stay again. Read more

I think this hotel was great for us, that's a couple with an 11 year old daughter. The studio room was spacious with a well equipped kitchen, large bathroom and a balcony. The hotel is only about 25 minutes from Faro airport . A prebooked taxi from the airport was only 32 euros each way. Managed without a car and didn't miss one! About 200 meters from the hotel is a pleasant village square with 4 or 5 restaurants, bars , and a few shops. There is also a small supermarket which had everything we needed for breakfast and snacks. Altogether this was a very relaxing experience probably enhanced by the great weather we had. We were returning to the UK from a 7 day hoilday in Albufiera when the Volcano kicked off! I booked the Stella Maris on line at the airport and ended up staying there for 15 nights! 6 of us (two adults 4 teenagers) in 3 rooms initially, we them moved down to 2 rooms as we realised how big these rooms were. One on the kids got a return flight so 5 of […] us then moved into one of the larger rooms. It was massive and accomodated us all very comfortably. We booked based on cost and were very pleasantly surprised at the all round quality of this apartmenthotel. The staff were excellent and very understanding - even with 3 room changes! The resort and hotel were quiet as it was low season. Difficult to believe that this suite (2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge/diner & big balcony) cost less per night than a 1 bed flea pit in London, amazing VFM for a large group. Det var bra. MEn det var et ødelagt skap på kjøkkenet, fuktskadet som luktet vondt. Vi så ifra, de kom å så på det. De sa de skulle bytte skapet eller gi oss nytt rom. Ikke noe skjedde..så det var ikke bra. Så kunne vi ikke lufte på det ene soverommet, døren var låst.

Le mobilier de l’hôtel manque d'entretien. Le canapé était dans un état déplorable, (déchiré, sale). Ce canapé faisait aussi office de lit d'appoint. Hotellet är helt OK, dock inte prisvärt. Några tips: 1. Ät inte på hotellet, gå istället runt hörnet och ät på Trivani (eller ngt liknande) mycket bra mat till rimligt kostnad. 2. Ta med badmössa om du avser använda hotellets träningsbassäng (det är ett krav...). 3. Med mindre barn blir det mycket promenad för att kunna bada i havet.
