BEST WESTERN AIRPORTHOTEL - Grenchen

When in great budget, travel to Bern would come light in the pocket when one stays at the Metropole Swiss Quailty Bern Hotel. It's but a 7-minute walk from the main train station and located in a busy section of the Swiss capital. My room is spacious and clean with well pressed bed sheets and fluffy pillows. Breakfast includes freshly baked bread, cereals, cold cuts, some local cheeses, yogurts and coffee brewed on the spot by its lady attendants. Travel to Switzerland has since become expensive but there are places to eat without breaking one's bank account like in Migros that comes with a restaurant and supermarket that offers fresh food, drinks, snacks,etc...There's a Migros just across from the Metropole. Bern is easily navigable by foot, so take a stroll, enjoy its fabulous sights, do a bit of shopping here and there, choose a cafe and order tasty pastries and at the end of the day, relax in comfort at the Metropole.

Locate in walking distance to the main train and metro station. Minutes walking from shops and restaurant. We got a nice room on the top floor and staff is friendly. I really want to give this hotel 5 stars however, if you are a light sleeper like I am , this may not be a good choice and this is why I only gave 4 stars. Both my husband wake up by loud noises around 6 in the morning and later we found out it was the noises from unloading the truck for the convenient store downstairs. The second night we could barely sleep . People were gathered drinking and parting below our building. It was so loud we could not sleep even our room is on the fifth floor ( the top floor) . The screaming and yelling finally ended at 3 am then 3 hours later the trucker unloading noises started again . I really want to like this hotel , convenient location , decent room and friendly staff . But because these noises, I don't think I will stay there again .

Close to the train station, the Kreuz is just off Waisenhausplatz, a main walking street with a market during the day and a number of restaurants. My window faced on a quiet-ish side street, which was good since without AC, opening the window was the only way to get fresh air. I stayed in a single room, and it was just that with a small twin bed, narrow desk, and small bathroom. The bed was somewhat hard but fine for a one night stay. Staff not super friendly, but nice enough. Wi-Fi is available, but somewhat expensive. There is a small room with free wired Internet and two computers available. Front desk has plug adapters for Euro plugs. Top floor has a small gym and access to a nice rooftop patio.

This hotel was well run and efficient with a comfortable room. The location is walking distance from the Bern train station.
