Mayneview B&B - Luray

Overall it was a nice b&b. Owners were pleasant. The place was a bit outdated and breakfast so so comparable to other b&b's I've stayed at.

The location is really nice, on top of the hill with a view on the village. And the house is wonderful, the interiors look like they were in the Victorian era and they give a cozy atmosphere. The breakfast was made from scratch by the owner's wife, and we all sat at the same table with other guests, it was a very familiar atmosphere. The hotel was nicely decorated with antiques. Our room was a bit "tight" in space, but adequate. The bathtub was not in the bathroom; rather in the bedroom, but that was OK. The hotel had a slight moldy smell and a cat was inside the house, which could be a problem with people allergic to cats. The breakfast was very tasty and the table quite beautifully […] set. A pleasant place to sit on the porch and overlook the town of Luray. The home is clean and simply decorated. Walking distance to everything in town including the lovely greenway.

This B&B is right in the heart of Luray, close to the downtown shops and restaurants and only about a mile from the caverns...very convenient. Paul and Sally are delightful hosts and serve a delicious breakfast. We were in the Morgana room which held a king size bed with very comfortable king size pillows. There was a rocking chair and a couple of tray […] tables in the room. We could have used a couple of hooks in the bathroom and a little shelf over the sink to place our stuff, but we managed overall. The view is beautiful. There were at least three other rooms filled that evening including two young children and we didn't hear anything from adjacent rooms or above us. Read more

Stayed one night for a quick trip to the caverns. The location is nice. The house is very quaint and clean and old fashioned. The outdoor hottub is a nice touch. Breakfast provided was delicious. The caretakers are very nice and more than accommodating. Molly the cat is obnoxiously friendly just wanting some attention. Overall just what I expected and […] enjoyed. The house is delightful with cats on the premisis which made it a real treat for my wife. The hot tub overlooking the mountains was beautiful. The food was not that good but we couldn't find any good food in the area so I do not blame the bed & breakfast staff. The rooms were all named after characters in Sr. Lancelot and each room had its own decore […] which made them each special. We were greeted warmly. Then we looked at our room, up a steep flight of stairs, and discovered that the tub/shower was in the bedroom. It took away one complete window and mountain view and was extremely difficult to enter and exit b/c it was a high claw-foot tub. The room itself was too small to hold a tub and a king-size bed. The wife warmly assured […] us that if we needed anything it was OK to walk over to their next-door house and ask, but when I did that, the husband was put off by it. One breakfast was great, the other was very poor in quality. My husband and I have often stayed in B&Bs, but this one did not measure up. Read more

We stayed in the Mayneview, overlooking the town, great view. Small issue when we arrived, but that was sorted in no time. Hosts Paul & Sally very friendly and helpul. Would have to agree with everyone the breakfast is great, made fresh just for you. Far better than the larger more expensive hotel chains. Lovely touch to supply the free drinks and snacks […] as you want, and although no fridges in the rooms there is one on the landing available to put your own goods into. It really was like a home from home, children's games, dvd's to watch on the downstairs tv and books. There is a house cat which really does have the run of the house, so keep your door closed if you don't want it to wander in. On the downside though we found the room a little too cluttered for our liking, and once we had the third bed (rollaway) put in, it was a tight fit. The bathroom was small and the sink was outside in the main part of the room. For the British people reading this, it was along the lines of the victorian B & B in Tourqay Devon. Would we recomend the hotel, yes we would, there are more pro's than con's. Read more

So romantisch und so schön, ganz tolle Umgebung und nur schade, dass wir nur 1 Nacht hier waren. Die Familie ist nett, das Frühstück der Hammer und das Zimmer total niedlich. Na ja und dann war da noch Molly, die Hauskatze, für uns als Katzenbesitzer natürlich super!!!

En cómputo general nos gustó bastante la estancia en el hotel. Es muy hogareño y disfrutamos nuestra estancia, tanto con los dueños como con otros clientes. El hotel favorece la interacción entre los huéspedes (el desayuno es común en la misma mesa) y el desayuno es excelente. Pudimos darnos un Yacuzzi al aire libre por la noche viendo las estrellas […] que fue una auténtica gozada. Los dueños son muy amables. A él le encanta aconsejarte qué hacer, a dónde ir, y hasta te da documentación de rutas para andar por Shenandoah NP. Como notas negativas 2, la primera que nadie nos dijo en el proceso de reserva que nuestra habitación (Genevrieve) tenía el baño fuera. Eso sí, era privado el baño para nosotros, pero eso fue una sorpresa no muy grata...La otra cosa mala (casi peor que la primera dado al grado alto de cansancio que llevábamos) fue el MUCHO ruido que hacía la máquina de aire acondicionado. (en verano imposible estar dentro de la habitación sin él). Estuvimos 3 noches y ni a la última nos acostumbramos a dormir con ese ruido. Eso sí, aparte de esto todo muy bien. El hotel está lleno de "detallitos" para el huesped. Dicho todo esto yo volvería al Mayneview. Read more
