"Nice place, good deal for the money"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We stayed here for the good rates, and were within a 5 minute walk to Doubletree and the other premier hotels and also the awesome Ale House (try the chicken twisters - yummi). The staff at the front desk were awesome, though the sales desk BS'd us by telling us that their tickets were the same cost as at the gate of Universal. Universal gate was cheaper. They also pushed for us to get a 2 day pass saying it takes 28 hours to get thru the two parks. Well we bought the 1 day pass and we were on and off ALL the rides in both parks by 3PM and were heading back to Island of adventure to ride some again. But if we bought the two day pass we would've been bored out of our mind. Granted we did go to Universal on a Tuesday and there were few people there. Also the sales desk told us it was a 15 minute walk. Me and my friends are in marathon shape, it still took us 30 minutes to get there. Lastly they told us that since we are staying in a hotel close to Universal we'd get in at 8, another lie, we arrived at 8:15 and we weren't allowed in until 9, only guests staying in Universal itself at the expensive premier hotels were allowed early entry. So in summation; I would recommend La Quinta but don't go buy your tickets from the liars at the sales desk for any parks. PS - our room smelled like someone smoked in it, it was mild so we didn't complain and the windows opened, that was nice.
"nice comfotable room with updated decor"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
I enjoyed my stay but did not get to eat breakfast because they ran out of a lot of items an hour before they stopped serving it.
"Close to Universal/priced OK"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
This Days Inn is very old and could use a major overhaul. We had booked 2 nights and the first room was uncomfortable and dirty. Plus bugs. In the morning we requested another room and were immediately upgraded to a larger, cleaner, more comfortable room. Front desk was eager to help and maintenance staff also helped to fix a missing chair leg in the new room. Overall we probably would not recommend this Days Inn except for its location and price (be aware of the 'resort' fee added at check-in per day). This is no resort.

"Fantastic stay!"
What a great place to stay! We were not sure what to expect but we had three girls and tbe family suite was perfect and it was affordable. Having starbucks and dunkin donuts a short walk away was great too. The park is right down the road about 2 miles to downtown disney. The best part was having a washer and dryer and dishwasher! the granite counter […] tops and a full size fridge was nice too. Dont forget the balcony and watching the fireworks at 9:00! Read more

"Close to Disney"
This condo-hotel had no air dryer in any of the 2 bathrooms. The carpet in the bedroom was dirty and smelled. Front desk said people take the hair dryers, if so just have the dryer mounted on the wall.
"Great location"
The Blue Heron is located within walking distance of several restaurants and just a short drive from all the tourist attractions. The suites are very spacious and more than comfortable. Only 2 pools and 1 was not very clean but other than that it was awesome! I highly recommend it!

"Great stay"
Man we took the kids here for spring break and this place was very nice and comfy. Everything was great nice and roomy, 4 kids so we needed more space than two queen beds. the blue heron provided that space and we even did the timeshare presentation and even though we didn't buy they didn't treat us like trash after we didn't buy because I've had that […] experience before. overall great place to stay. "Very spacious for the price"
My family of 5 stayed at the Blue Heron while we did some of the sites in Orlando. It was very comfortable, spacious, and convenient for the money. We got the 2 bedroom Disney View suite, so two kids shared the second bedroom, while the third slept on the bunk bed in the hallway. The master suite is very spacious with a view of Downtown Disney and the […] nightly fireworks. Nice, big bathroom with a soaking tub, plus a second bathroom for the kids. The kitchen seemed pretty new, with nice granite countertops and newer appliances. There was plenty of room to cook and eat in the room, if you want to save some money. The pool area is also very nice. The location is great for Disney, Seaworld and other area attractions, plus they run a free shuttle several times a day to all the parks. It is self-service resort, so no daily housekeeping, unless you want to pay extra for it. But that is totally worth it to us to have the extra space and extra bedrooms. We have stayed at another area condo/hotel (Lake Beuna Vista Hotel & Spa). They are very similar, but the rooms at the Blue Heron are much more spacious for the same price. And the location is better, as it's a very short drive to Downtown Disney and other attractions. We would definitely come back! Read more

"Enjoyed!!!!"
Stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed it. Awesome location with the view of Lake Bryan. Stayed in a 1 bedroom unit and was quite pleased with it. Very roomy and in great condition. Pool area was very nice. Not a big resort by any means, small workout room and game room. Exterior of buildings are showing their age and in need of painting. Overall quite […] satisfied. Read more

"Good place to relax!"
My wife and I stayed here for a few days after spending the previous week being very busy at the Disney and Orlando theme parks. It was a great way to end our trip and I would highly recommend it to others. My only "complaint" were that we had some trouble with our keys and trying to get into our room when we first checked in. It was rather annoying, […] but it got fixed eventually. Read more
"Poor maintenance - uncomfortable"
This property was the worst we've ever stayed at in Orlando. This seems to be one of the victims of the depressed condo market and the facilities have not been well-maintained. As an example, the matress in the master bedroom was worn-out and, when we attempted to flip the matress in the middle of the night to try to make it comfortable, we were alarmed […] to find it very, very soiled with old blood stains. As a further sign of poor hygenic conditions, the air conditioning was contaminated with mold and the mildew smell was very obvious. My daughter had sinus problems the whole week as a result. The location also leaves a lot to be desired. The highway is always congested and it is very difficult to get out of the property due to the continually stopped traffic. I would not recommend this property at all. Read more
"Blue Heron Resort in Orlando"
Everything was as advertised except that the mattresses were so horrible that my friends and I didn't sleep well and had back aches. The king size mattress in the master bedroom was ok. The twin beds in the 2nd bedroom creaked as soon as you laid down on them. Everytime I moved in my bed or my friend moved in their bed we could hear it. I called the […] front desk after the 1st night and asked to be moved to a unit with better mattresses. They told me all the units had the same twin mattresses. They said they'd send up some padding. I expected them to send up foam rubber or memory foam. They sent us slightly padded mattress pads. They helped slightly. Whoever purchased the mattresses for the resrot should be fired. To save some money they took staying at the resort a bad experience. Read more
"Excellent Hotel"
Very nice hotel. We had the 2 separate bedrooms with two bunk beds in the hallway. The only problem was there were numerous loose floor tiles on the floor. Other than that it was fine. Remember there is no daily room service! We knew this before and was prepared for it. There is a washer/dryer in the room and free detergent from the office. They have […] free shuttle buses to both Disney World and Universal Studios. There is a couple of fast food resturarnts across the street. Numerous outlet shopping centers within 2 miles away. A mini golf in front of hotel. Show room key and its 6 dollars per person. Read more
"Exciting View"
Very nice view to a lake, Close to Disney and mall. Every thing was good.
"Blue Heron Beach Resort"
Rented Family Suite condo, one master bed room with king size bed, bunk beds (twin size) in foyer hallway, queen size sofa sleeper in the living room. 2 full bathrooms, dinning area/ kitchen with limited stock of pots/pans/dishes/silverware/ fridge,/coffee maker/microwave/dishwasher/washer/dryer. Balcony to sit outside. t It is a self catering resort […] & does not provide daily housekeeping. (you may be able to purchase this service from the front desk) Bring soap/dryer sheets to wash your towels/clothes if planning extended stay. Hotel does not have own restaurant but many are within walking/driving distance. Kitchen is stocked with limited pots & pans. Set in our condo were terrible, everything stuck and burned no matter how much oil you used. I suggest bringing or buying a non stick pan from across the street at walgreens, which we did. Used the kitchen mainly for breakfast & late night snacks. Bought cereal, eggs, juice, milk pancake mix, oil and microwave popcorn from local market.. Also bought trial sizes of shampoo/conditioner/hand soap, extra coffee small packs of sugar/ cream(they supply enough for 2 pots) This is not la hotel where they give you these supplies each day. Condo had plenty of space for privacy for 2 adults and 2 14 yr olds. It is in a great location. 1 mile from Disney, 3 miles from Seaworld, 1 hr from Bush Gardens & 8 miles from Universal Studios. Our room was located on the 15th floor. So if you don't like heights, ask for a lower floor. However it was very quiet in our area. After check in we were sent to another desk to obtain a parking pass (we drove) and they tried to get us to commit to a time share 90 min presentation to receive discount tickets to the local parks/dinner shows. It can be tempting for the discount but you do not have to do this. We did not want to waste our vacation time listening to a hard sell. Expedia has a desk in the registration area that you can buy discount tickets to the theme parks and attractions in the area. Read more
"Blue Heron - what to expect"
Reservation process OK - Value Good. Location to Disney & Restaurants Very Good. Universal 10 miles N. Warnings: Not revealed under the Resv process was a Time Share pitch/presentation which I opted out of (giving up a Free Adult ticket to Disney. This was not a deal breaker. Staff OK. No On site Food (some Vend) but Dunkin & Starbuck 50 yards away […] and 20 restaurants within 2 miles. Walgreens right across the street. Great view of Lake & nice BIG pool for families with kids. Stayed 3 nights. Read more
"lots of traffic, but AWESOME room!"
We got this room for our vacation and really enjoyed the room and the view. Our kids loved the pool and hot tub. The location looked a little different than in the pictures.

"The Blue Heron Beach Resort"
Very convenient location with outlet 5 minutes away and lots of shopping and dining places all around. The building looks a bit outdated when compared to nearby hotels and inns but very clean rooms and friendly staff. Electronic equipments are outdated (TVs are not even flat panel.)
"Nice place"
Very convenience.
"Great Location, but CLEAN THE FLOORS!!"
Great location to Downtown Disney. There is a Walgreens and a steakhouse right across the street which is a great. The BAD thing was there is no carpet at all in the units. The tile is nice but take some flip flops to wear after you get out of the shower. The floors are filthy.
"Awesome place to stay"
Had a great experience at the Blue Heron. Would have preferred a lower floor than 14th, though. Don't know if they could accommodate us because we didn't ask.

"Excellent Night Sleep"
This hotel was great!!! The beds were probably the most comfortable ones I have ever slept in at a hotel. The view of the lake and the location were perfect!! The only issue that I had with this place was that I paid extra for a disney fireworks view and they did not deliver on this. I was put on the first floor and had buildings in front of me that […] blocked any view of the display. Other then that the place was huge. We got a 2 bedroom and it was perfect. It also had dvd players in every room so my daughter could watch her shows. We also loved that it had 2 balconies. I would certainly book her again!!! Read more
"Great place, but know what you are getting into"
This was a great hotel. Very spacious, with a full-sized kitchen, including oven, stove top (with pots and pans provided), microwave, and full size fridge and freezer. There is even an in-room washer and dryer. The bunk beds are great for kids. The size of the room and the amenities were incredible for the rate. However, you should know that this is […] a time share that doubles as a hotel. You will be asked to attend a presentation. I politely declined, and there was no pressure whatsoever. The whole process took about 2 minutes. The bigger downside is that there is no housekeeping during your stay unless you are willing to pay for an "a la carte" service. I was willing to make my own bed, so that was no big deal for me, but others might feel differently. The Blue Heron offers a "Disney" room at a slightly higher rate that gives you a view of the nightly fireworks. Save your money. The non-Disney rooms have a beautiful view of Lake Heron. If you want to see the fireworks from the hotel, there is an open patio area on every floor that faces the parks. (After watching for one night, I quickly realized the fireworks are not nearly as good without the accompanying audio/visual shows that you can only get in the parks). Read more
"Much better than expected"
The room was clean and much better than expected. Our room also had a spectacular view of the lake. Very close to theme parks, downtown disney, etc. Be cautious on the discounted theme park ticket offers. While you can save ~$80 on tickets, you need to listen to their 2-hr marketing presentation regarding the time share of their resorts and say "No, […] I'm not interested in buying your time-share condo for $17,000 today." "Great place to stay"
THis is my second time staying there, good location
"the blue heron in orlando fla"
Over all the hotel was ok. I was expecting a lot more uplated hotel. The beds were horrible. I had a 2 bedroom. In the master bedroom the bed was a king. The mattress was so soft that when you sat on it you felt a hard board. As for the 2 twin beds when you turned over it felt like you were sleeping on rubbber sheets or something. Everytime you turned […] over you heard loud noises. The bunk beds were not as table as they should have been. Would I recommend the hotel to a friend yes but I would warn them of the beds. Read more
"A Luxurious Bargain"
The hotel was very nice in general, but the room was magnificent. Every amenatie you can imagine was readily available. TV's in the bedrooms, sweet stereo in the living area, full kitchen, free internet, the list goes on. My balcony was 30 feet long and overlooked a gorgeous lake. I will stay there again for sure.
"1 mile from Disney"
We stayed over Thanksgiving week 2011. This property was well maintained and had a very large pool for the kids. Although it was sold out the rooms were peaceful and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning while we watched the sun rise over the lake.
"Nice place to stay"
Great view! Good service!
"Excellent Stay"
I have to say this is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. I loved the view we had facing the lake. We have a group of 6 people and we all slept comfortable in the 2 bedroom suite. The only issue I had was that the controls did not work on two tvs due to low battery. Other then that it was an excellent stay. (Friendly staff)! :)
