"Excellent location and great staff"
My wife and I really enjoyed our five-night stay at the Millrace Hotel in Bunclody, Co. Wexford in September, 2013 while vacationing from the US. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and spacious (just to compare, I stayed at a hotel in Belfast the night after my stay in the Millrace and thought I was in a ship’s cabin by […] comparison). The Irish breakfast was great with plenty to eat and do try their brewed coffee at breakfast; it was delicious. I also had lunch and dinner there a few times and no complaints there either. The Hotel is reasonably priced and they also have deals with Spa treatments and golf outings. The wifi performance was fantastic and better than any I have experienced while travelling abroad. Again, comparing the wifi speed to the Belfast hotel is like comparing a bicycle to a Maserati. I asked for a quiet room away from the road and pub and we did not hear a sound during our stay. The only complaint I have is in relation to the towels. They really need to buy some new towels as, while clean, they were old, stained and ragged. Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Booked double room but got twin room"
Informed staff on check-out of error with room and was surpried that they did not offer me anything for the inconvenience caused. Was awake very early from music playing in the hotel. The only good thing about this hotel was its locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a great choice of location; the area is beautiful and interesting and helped give a badly needed recharge to the batteries. The hotel helped to do this. The pool and health facilities were excellent and the atmosphere relaxed quiet and calming. I found the food a little expensive; but there are many alternatives that can take the sting out […] this. Room was good however breakfast was a let down - not enough staff on. had to ask for pot of tea and coffee, and had to ask staff for sausage and eggs as there was none left.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great staff, Not so Great Hotel"
While the staff were lovely, there were too many little things that made our stay not too enjoyable. On arrival we had two single beds even though we booked a double room. This was after we had been phoned THREE times to confirm our arrival. Each time I pointed out I had pre-paid and would be there. The girl at the desk said to "Grab yourself a drink […] in the bar while we get the beds put together" which was odd considering we shouldn't be told when to "grab a drink" and the bed should be one double, not two singles zipped together. When we finally got to our room the beds where zipped together but would come apart during the night causing a dip in the middle. The TV didnt work and nobody knew how to fix it. We were 24 hours there before it was fixed. The food in the Bistro Bar was tasteless and not as advertised (roast beef on a bed of mashed potatoe = no bed of mash) while the pool was freezing and just downright ugly, the sauna wasn't working and the guy at the desk had no towels to give us. Unfortunately while the staff were VERY friendly and efficient, there was just too many little things that made our stay quite unenjoyable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for the price I paid"
Seemed like a nice hotel, although I didn't use any of the facilities available. My room was OK, the lighting was dim and the bath was dirty, but I only noticed this in the morning. I would use again if I was in the area though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel for a golfing weekend."
The Hotel was clean although getting close to needing a revamp. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the room was well presented. The breakfast was of good quality with plenty of choice, cooked or continental. The Hotel is in a perfect location for anyone interested in Golf . The Golf course is directly opposite the Hotel and they certainly […] compliment each other. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Who would have thought...."
....that we'd find a hotel like this in a little place like Bunclody! Everything worked, except for a shower in one of the rooms which was promptly fixed. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The public areas in the hotel were a little tired but overall we were very happy with our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Value for money and access to the real Ireland"
Stayed here for three nights mid week. It was an ideal location to explore Wexford and Carlow at the same time doing some business that we needed to undertake. The staff were very friendly and helpful even if a little over stretched at times in the bar/bistro in the evening. The leisure club facilities were excellent for a 4* hotel and the breakfast […] & bistro food was of a good standard. You will need a car when you are here because it is a fair run to the coast or nearest big towns. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Dated and badly run"
When we arrived the receptionist answered the phone several times while checking us in so that we had to wait nearly ten minutes before we were given our key. The room was basic and very dated. Mould on the bathroom tiles and shower, lumpy old bed, poor quality tv and view of a high wall two metres from our window (even though we were on the second […] floor). Room was freezing and heating was hard to use. Went downstairs to order dinner in the bistro and found the main waiter very rude and sarcastic. Would not sit us at a reserved table (although it remained empty for the next hour) and only found us a table when we created a fuss. In fairness, other staff were very pleasant and the food was lovely. We were in a room which would double up as a suite so there was a closed door to the adjoining room. During the night we were woken by the couple next door coming in late. We were also awoken by other guests in the corridor. The walls are paper thin. All in all a very disappointing stay. Would not recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best Hidden Gem in Ireland"
This is my 2nd visit to this lovely Hotel. A boutique experience for half the price. Great deals online and on the telephone. Very friendly, efficient and professional staff. Nothing is a bother. GREAT FOOD. Congrats to the chef abd waiters. Danu SPA is a treat not to be missed. The LEISURE CENTRE has the best jacuzzi. Lovely and hot. My Mother has severe arthritis. After one jacuzzi and a back massage she was pain free for a few weeks (which is why we came back). The showers could do with a fixed wall seat for less mobile clients. And a rail along the wall in the pool area would allow for anybody with an unsteady gait to access this area unaccompanied. I understand this area is being refurbished. Can't wait for our next visit. Congrats to the Bunclody Team. You have put sunshine into our Winter.
"Great food, service and spa , rooms a little tired and noisy."
My husband and I stayed fri and sat night as a birthday treat. Service and food were excellent. Found the bedroom decor dated and tired. Intercconnecting bedroom doors and could hear our neighbours! Live music in bar great fun both nights. Spa treatments were excellent. Didn't bother with pool and Jacuzzi as was not connected to spa area. Golf club well worth a visit. Overall fantastic value if not looking for luxury. Staff could not have been nicer.
"A great break away!"

I booked a night away for myself and my partner for the 9th of November (a Sunday night) on lastminute.ie, only €36 euro, so I said what the heck, sounds like a bargain. I was really excited about the night away. Was really pleased with the hotel and when we arrived I thought the receptionist was truly lovely and very helpful. Found it a bit annoying that the check in wasn't until 4, as it's nice to travel down and get settled a bit earlier than that. Our room was on the third floor (301) It was very clean and besides a few marks on the carpet, which I couldn't really complain about, we found the room very cosy and warm. The only problem I had with the room was the traffic noise, although again, it was nothing worth complaining about and both my partner and I had a great sleep regardless. You could also hear a lot of talk from the corridoor, but as we were right beside the door leading to the elevators for the rooms, we expected as much. We didn't hear anything really in the night so that was grand. I assume though, that when the hotel is busier, this could be quiet a problem. We used the pool and the jacuzzi after we checked in and found them quite good. The pool is a bit on the small side and not very well lit but the jacuzzi was a welcomed treat. We had dinner in the hotel that night, and we both thought it was great value for money (€50 per two for a three course meal) and I have to say, I havn't had such a nice steak in ages, I was really impressed. I also had a great cocktail after dinner too! Only thing lacking in the bar was a little atmosphere, not much music or people there, but then again, we expected as much for a Sunday night. The following day my partner surprised me with an extra night. We decided to have lunch in the hotel and then explore the area. As expected, our lunch was just as lovely as our dinner the night before, although the server looked run off his feet and we thought they could of done with possibly two servers for lunch time. When we got back to the hotel that that night after eating someplace else we had a few drinks at the bar which again was a nice treat. Have to admit there was a little bit more of an atmosphere Monday night, due to some event that was happening in the hotel. As our main goal was a quiet trip away, we weren't too bothered about the bar being packed anyways, it was just nice to have a bit of music playing and a bit of noise around the place. We checked out before 12 the following day and it was quick and easy. Again, can't fault the staff of the hotel here, they were truly nice and treated us both very well. Altogether we had a great stay. It was a lovely little getaway for the two of us.

We stopped at the " Millrace Bistro " and had a most enjoyable lunch on Monday 10th. November 2014. My Wife had Salmon and I had Roast Beef, both of us agreed that it was not only delicious but succulent. We were served by John, who was most friendly and efficient - John invited us back and hopefully we will be able to fulfil the invitation. Míle Buiochas Joh and Millrace

Myself and my husband stayed here on Saturday it was a birthday present from my husband, have to say not in pressed at all we checked into our room and was put into an interconnecting room beside a generator and the windows would not close I had rang during the week to ask for a quite room. The girl on reception was lovely and changed our room straight away. We had dinner booked for 8.30 when we arrived to the restaurant we were seated in the conor beside the entrance door we were handed our menu and I had to be ask to be served at 9.10 we actually set and looked at the staff for a bit 3 of them were chatting and joking at the till, I would understand the place was busy and they could not get to us, but the fact that they forgot us I had to go over to a waiter cleaning a table and I was snapped it 'I will be with you in a minute' only it was late and we were very hungry at this stage I would have walked out, the food was ok but definitely not restaurant standard would be ok for bar food. We over heard a waiter tell a group that were there for dinner' ye may come for dinner now cause we are closing soon' we used the leisure centre small pool and very cold everywhere seemed like it needs a revamp and a good clean. "Would definitely not recommend"
11/10/14 Irishgal1980 Dublin, Ireland
My husband booked us in here for a one night stay on Saturday night. I have never been so disappointed with a hotel before. On arrival we were given keys to a room. The room had a large red stain right in the middle of the floor and at the dressing table a large bright orange stain. There were multiple black marks across the carpet. You couldnt moss them. In addition to the scruffy floors the wallpaper had been pulled in at least 4 different places and the net curtains were ripped. I was shocked that anyone could think that it was an acceptable room to offer anyone. I wouldn't expect it in a hostel. It was absolutely disgusting. My husband called to reception and asked that we change rooms. As the hotel was fully booked we were unable to check in until after our treatment. We both had massages and it was only ok. I would question the hygeine of the use of a large tatty looking blanket over you during the massage instead of a fresh towel? It was very peculiar. We then went for a swim and steam room was out of order and jacuzzi was very dirty. On leaving the pool we handed back our towels but had to request our deposit back. The attendee seemed more interested in watching the rugby match. We checked in to our new room which was considerably better than the previous room but it was freezing and not all pleasant having returned from our swim. When we checked in we were asked if we wanted to book a table in the restaurant as the hotel was going to be very busy. We booked a table. Later my husband queried the location of the restaurant as featured on the website and was only then told that it was closed for renovations. We should have been informed of this when we checked in. We cancelled our dinner booking and drove elsewhere for dinner as we had already dined in the bar for lunch. When we returned from dinner we went straight to our room. This was around 11.30pm. Our neighbours were having an argument and were very loud. We could also hear the band downstairs. We weren't too bothered about the band noise as we were directly above the bar. We left the couple to it and thought their argument wouldn't last too long. By 2am they were still extremely noisy so i called front reception and the gentleman said he would look into it. I don't think anything was done as the noise got much louder and finally stopped at around 3.30am. I didnt sleep a wink at all. What was supposed to be a relaxing birthday present turned out to be so unpleasant. I am actually sick from the cold temperatures of the room. The website images of this hotel are outdated and misleading. There was no apology made for the disgraceful condition of room 114 or that the restaurant was closed. No assistance with our extremely noisy neighbours. I was so annoyed that our 1 night away which we had to arrange babysitters and everything was an absolute waste of money. I would never return. The hotel is in need of a complete facelift and customer service standards leave an awful lot to be desired.

Well my cousins organised a wonderful overnight getaway DB&B and Spa treatment for my birthday a lovely treat. Dinner was lovely but the restaurant experience was a let down on the Web page it showed a lovely restaurant setting but it was not to be the restaurant was in the bar area ....... I would feel that a little more professionalism and front of house training would make a huge difference to the all round dinning experience, which for a special occasion means a lot..We did have a good evening with a band duo husband and wife team who were remarkably good we danced and had fun. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very nice. After a read of the complimentary papers we went to the spa for a much welcomed treatment it was wonderful and the staff lovely. A wonderful walk up the town ate lunch and then headed home. The staff were very pleasant the food was good and the rooms clean, there was a problem with the heating system but they sent up plug in heaters. All in all we had fun and enjoyed our time together.

Myself and 6 friends went for girlie night away to The Millrace recently. I must say we could not have picked a better hotel. We arrived at lunch time and had a bite to eat in the Mill bar which was delicious. Following lunch the very helpful staff took our luggage while we went for treatments in the Danu spa.The spa was definitely the highlight of our stay, on arrival we slipped into bath robes and waited for our treatments in the relaxation suite. The girls in the spa were just lovely, they couldn't have made us feel more at ease. Following our time in the spa we checked into our rooms which were very comfortable, clean and spacious. Two of the girls were lucky enough to be put in a suite which was the essence of luxury. That night we had cocktails at the bar preceding dinner, the dinner was divine and again staff were on hand at all times ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Overall I would recommend The Millrace to anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay in a hotel. The staff, the food, the spa and the rooms were all amazing.

My husband decided we needed a few days away so we headed to Bunclody. The Millrace was really just what we were looking for. The food was lovely. The staff were attentive yet chilled. The spa in the hotel was wonderful. Laura and Amy were efficient and welcoming. I did not want to leave. We left the hotel two very relaxed and happy people.

Myself and my partner visited for our anniversary. We complained that the lounge bar was in a disgrace with spillages on the bar and tables dirty and covered with used crockery and we were going to have to find somewhere else to eat. Staff members were showing no sense of urgency to tidy the place up. We received no apology just were told we'd come in at the end of lunch. We decided to have food in the room as the bar was so messy. The room had a spider in a huge web on the ceiling and the bath was coming away from the wall in the bathroom, by the way. Two sandwiches on the menu listed at €5.95 Each. Bill came to €21.90! Refused to pay and then having found we had one towel between two of us, marched down to reception where as we explained our displeasure the "owner" told us that if we didn't like it we should get our things and check out. He was ignorant and dismissive and his attitude provoked the response of us packing our bags and leaving. He was confrontational and aggressive before we even spoke, to be honest the staff member dealing with us looked terrified of him. Four star hotel? By whose standards? A disgrace. The "owner" should be ashamed but to be honest didn't seem to care. Self appointed four star hotel with belligerent owner full of his own self importance.
