"I would stay again!"
Room was small but it was clean and the bathroom was also modern and clean. Perfect location near Times Sq and theaters. Staff were friendly and courteous. I would definitely stay there again. K.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great small hotel."
The Mela has grab rooms with upscale decor and lots of space. The staff was very helpful-recommending one of the finest meals I have ever had. It was a great stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location for a Broadway Show"
Although we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, it was definitely comfortable, clean and well decorated. Only criticism is that the glass panel in the shower should be a little bit wider so it prevents water from spraying on the floor. I would stay at Hotel Mela again - that's the best compliment!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
On arrival we were greeted by a courteous and proficient staff who answered all questions with suggestions and tips of the surrounding area. The room was very clean and bright.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was a pretty great stay for my weekend. I was expecting the rooms to be a bit bigger but they are an average size for just one bed. The service was okay at best. We never got a few things that we asked for but the front desk gave us th best maintenance ever as a guestGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great deal at a great price"
I enjoyed my trip great hotel at great location and excellent service thank you everyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great little hotel"
Pros - Loved the location! Yes, the room was small, but it was very nice and the bathroom was bigger than I ever imagined! Con(not really) tiny elevators & the air conditioner is loud (but it was cold!!)Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is located in an excellent location if you're planning on going to the theater or hanging around Midtown. My husband and I usually stay in one of the hotels on 44th Street because we do just that. Hotel Mela was okay. The bathroom does have a bathtub--a plus compared to many NYC hotel rooms--but otherwise it's incredibly tight and hard to […] move around in. The pillows on the bed could have been better. We had a decent night, as the hotel was clean and quiet, but in the future we will likely select a room from a hotel down the street that has amazingly large bathrooms and more comfy beds. "Nice Hotel in the middle of the City"
Great service, Convenient parking and Super location. Smaller sized room but in perfect shape and spotlessly clean. Good price for the location , would definitely stay here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will book again"
Can't beat the location. Staff very friendly, room size was sufficient. Only comment would be lack of counter space in bathroom, but no more than we were there, we made it work. If return to NY will book it again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good value and great restaurant nextdoor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend in the City"
Hotel was nice. Room was a bit small, but it is NYC. Hotel very convenient to times square and theater district. Plenty of food and drink choices around. Room was clean and employees were nice and helpful. Air conditioning unit stopped working 2 of the nights we were there. After a while it would start up again. I guess it froze. Elevators are questionable […] at times but otherwise functional. Good times overall and would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to everything!"
I had a great stay in this hotel and will definitely come back next time. The staff here are super friendly and provided warm service. Highly recommend this hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location. Tiny rooms"
Paid for a Queen Superior room on Expedia. Was initially given a room with a full bed. Had to go back down and get that fixed. Not sure I ended up in a "Superior" room, but I did get a queen bed. The floor was noisy, people in the room next to me seemed to always get back at 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning. The elevators are tiny, and slow during peek […] times. It was nice. The people who work there were great. I needed internet and the wifi was so weak, I had to go to another hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night stay"
Room was ok and the price was right. The location was perfect for my needs. If your looking to hang in the room then I would not recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great accomodation close to Times Square."
Room was very nice and more so than we expected for our overnight stay. Comfortable, quiet, and clean. Although we had just returned from a cruise in the early morning hours, the staff kindly stored our luggage while we toured the city. We were pleased with the room and staff was on their toes!! Would definitely stay there again if in NYC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed for 2 nights, very close to everything. GMA on the end of block, Hedwig & the angry inch across the street. Most plays very close, Times Square 2 blocks away. The Bistro was excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great value f or Times Square"
I only stayed for one night, but would definitely stay again. The staff is friendly. The rooms was clean and well stocked. Conveniently there is a decent bar that serves food right next door. Can't beat the rate for this location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"GREAT LOCATION AND SERVICE!"
The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The public areas of the hotel were clean and well maintained. The room was clean and roomy. Would stay there again if I needed a hotel in NYC as it is centrally located to Times Square.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was in a perfect location. On the same street as all the broadway theaters and a couple of minutes walking distance to Times Square. The hotel and room was very clean and the service was friendly and professional. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, Location, Location!"
Couldn't ask for a better location--just a half block off Times Square. Even with construction going on and the constant flow of people on Broadway, inside Hotel Mela is calm and quiet. Rooms are very tiny with the bed taking up the whole room, but the only thing we needed the room for was to sleep, so it worked. Staff is very friendly and helpful. […] You are close to everything with food, drinks, and entertainment just steps outside the door. Would definitely go back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"SUPERIOR LOCATION TO FIND EVERYTHING TIME SQUARE"
the stay was great, room very very tiny. enough room to sleep and small bathroom to share. very cramped, no view, but the location was superior!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel Mela is located at a central location in New York right next to two Broadway theaters. It has a modern decor. I was in an executive level room and it was spacious by New York standards. The only warning for those light of sleep, the interior rooms face a rather noisy extractor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was there over a Sunday night. Very quiet. Just enough away from times square to not feel crowded. Nice staff. Big room. Comfortable bed. Good bathroom. Convenient to subway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"small rooms. good location for the price"
good location, parking next door. close to time square. small small rooms and bath rooms. the clearness is under parGenuine Expedia guest review
Walking distance from everywhere, and subway is just 2 blocks away. Small rooms, buy very clean ones.Genuine Expedia guest review
We liked the hotel. Especially the location. It was great as we had family coming from different parts of the city and NJ. It's close to the subway and Port Authority.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was a great find for the price. Even though the room was small, it had a great location and the room was very clean. The service was excellent too. The staff was very helpful. Hotel Mela does not have a restaurant but Saju Bistro is right next to it and it had a great breakfast. Would definitely stay at this location again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but tiny!"
Great location!!! Only steps from Times Square. Very clean! New and clean bathroom. Room was CRAZY small, but was fine for just a quick overnight for me and my husband. Would not be very practical if you plan on spending a lot of time in your room. The bed wasn't very comfy, and the pillows were soooo uncomfortable! It was like sleeping on pillows with […] no stuffing. I have never seen anything like it before. They definitely need to invest in better pillows! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I loved the location and friendliness of the staff at this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Very happy with this stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Theatre District Digs!"
This was our second stay at the Mela; our first was during super bowl weekend and the experience was what brought us back. We usually come to NYC from Rochester via AMTRAK, and the hotel is an easy walk from Penn Station. We come for the Broadway productions, and you can walk to at least a dozen theatres in just a few minutes. The restaurant in the […] Hotel is also a home run. Great food and great staff. We were graciously received and seated despite no reservations, and a huge crowd in NY for the super bowl. The hotel staff, from house keeping to door men, to desk staff were friendly and helpful but not obsequious. Watch out; we'll be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Pros: 1. Location- Hotel Mela is right in Times Square and within walking distance to theatres, restaurants and transportation. 2. This is definitely an well kept hotel. It is updated, beautifully decorated and very clean. 3. Fairly priced 4. The Bistro next door is fabulous! Cons: 1. When we checked in, the staff checked us into an occupied room with […] luggage and belongings in it. After 3 calls to the front desk, I was informed that they we had been given the wrong room. We recieved a half-hearted apology and were given our correct room keys. 2. The rooms are definitely small and the elevators are the smallest that I have ever seen. The room size was fine because while in NYC, little time is spent in the room. The elevator size was very inconvenient, especially during busy check in/out times. "Location, Location, Location"
This was a find. Not only right off Broadway, but right next to a really great restaurant, Bistro, that served the hotels' breakfast and did a great job in other meals. The rooms were very small, but very comfortable. I also loved that in this older building, the windows opened. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Best of all, it was a real bargain […] in prime real estate. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location excellent for short NYC stay"
Cramped sleeping with bed against wall and narrow path on other side, and no TV program guide which was promised but not delivered. I had a better experience the first time I stayed at Hotel Mela.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good hotel, excellent location"
Literally a 5 minute walk from times square, it's across from the theater that shows hedwig and the angry inch. The tile in the shower wasn't very clean (a bit of oxyclean and bleach should be sufficient to do the job) so for a four star hotel it was sort of a let down, but the proximity to all the attractions in times square made up for it. Would definitely […] stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, clean and well located"
It you're looking for a comfortable (but small) hotel room in a safe location, this is it. I've stayed at The Hotel Mela at least a dozen times over the last several years. It's not pretentious -- but isn't warm and fuzzy either. My biggest complaint would be the size of the elevator (2 people and 2 suitcases and it's full). Rooms are modestly furnished, […] but the beds are comfortable, large flat screen TV, nice shower, no counter space in bathroom (like most NYC hotels), nice comforter and all-around decent room. Lovely French bistro across the street, and a nicer restaurant next door. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was so convenient. It was perfect for Broadway shows, great restaurants, Times Square, cabs and subways. The hotel was beautiful, staff was courteous. This is my new favorite Hotel!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
My daughter and I wanted to experience a safe and exciting Memorial weekend and this hotel truly fit the bill. It was close to the fashion district, broadway theater(Rock Of Ages), visited the Twin Tower Memorial, and even ate at a side walk restaurant in Little Italy. Everything was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was the second time I stayed at the Mela Hotel. However, this second time the room was even smaller that on my first visit. I measured 2 feet on the right side of the bed to the bathroom door, 3 feet on the left side of the bed to the window, and 6 feet from the foot of the bed to the door (my feet, not a ruler!). I just needed a place to sleep […] after the theater, so it was tolerable. However, there was not even space for a chair in the room. I realize that space is at a premium in New York City, but this room takes it to the extreme. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"My new favorite hotel in Times Square"
What a pleasure! The staff gave us a complementary upgrade to two twin beds (from one full), saying the full was "a little tight." The room was clean, attractive, and quiet. Housekeeping was cheerful and left us a bucket of ice on the second day. And the concierge could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Seriously--our new "go-to" hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed 2 nights and we had a great stay! The room was a little smaller than we thought it would be and it also looked out on a brick wall as we were on a lower level. However the bed was very comfortable and it was quiet especially with Times Square and Broadway 1/2 block away. We would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice, Clean, Friendly Staff, Great Location. Loans out free umbrellas when raining. Rooms are SMALL, but cozy. Bed was comfy. Room was clean. Staff was very friendly. Location was fantastic.
