"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"Run the other way! Don't even get off the train!!!"
I have been afforded the opportunity to stay in many hotels and this one by far was the worst. First, I chose to walk from the train station to the hotel and I felt as if I were walking through a war zone; abandant. building, creepy characters walking down the streets. Once I arrived at the hotel the customer service provided by the staff was less than […] staler. Upon settling into my bed....I was greeted by a bed bug.....the first time I have ever encountered once up close and personal. I was saddened by my overall experience. The Ramada has let there guard down with this location. It makes the brand look really bad. I am was very disappointed and will think long and hard before booking at a Ramada hotel again. Read more
"Terrible hotel!"
Wifi did not work at all, creepy environment, people who work there are very ignorant and rude. They go around knocking on people's doors when it's past 11 AM and even barged into my room!
"Seeing The Changes"
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the East Orange Ramada. Knowing what the hotel used to look like and what the service was like I can say that I see and appreciate the changes. The room was clean, the bathroom was well stocked and the floor I was on was quiet. I would book with this hotel again. I look forward to the continued improvements.
was ok - not great - not awful
Hotel did not meet their contractual obligation. No towels. Towels not delivered to room as stated. Fridge didn't work & staff didn't come to check as stated. Ice machines on all 7 floors not working for at least a week. Not fixed when staff said they would be. Non-smoking rooms reeked of smoke. Key cards repeatedly didn't work. Hassles getting in to […] room each night. "Do not Disturb" sign ignored by staff. Still came into room. Read more
"Smoke & sleep?"
Just want to smoke & sleep in that area? Then OK. 1st room literally sick from smoke in non-smoking room. 2nd room stank but not so bad. Ice machines not worked for 2 weeks, but staff told clients they couldn't be fixed on the weekend. 4 times six flights down to try to get a key that worked. Fridge didn't work. Vending machines empty, but no refund. […] Left at 7:10 am without 7 am breakfast as staff hadn't started. Faulty Towers?? Read more
"best location for the price"
I really enjoy it. I went with my family the hotel is ok, is not 5 stars but it is not the bad that some people write on some reviews. The location it is good you save a lot of money if you going to NY. In 5 minutes you take the train that takes you to Penn station. The hotel for the price is good. Me and my family we come back again.
"Hotel very clean,affordable, & comfortable!"
My stay was great & i recommend this hotel if your looking for an affordable place to stay.

"Ramada-East Orange leaves a lot to be desired."
Not what we expected, as while checking in I was not told that the hotel gave away our room and gave us a double instead of the king that was paid for in full at time of reservation and gareenteed. Upon complaining to the front desk they found a simular enough room. The breakfast offered is also not as expected and one is not allowed to leave the very […] small eating area with their food. Over all I would have to say that for what was paid it was not a value. Read more

"Hotel Ramada in East Orange New York"
This hotel was the worst one I have ever stayed at. I suggest none of you I there. It is shady, dirty and mostly the area and environment is incredibly scary. My friends and I booked this hotel for eight days but upon reaching there we left the first night even though we did not get any money back because our lives are precious.
"Ramada inn east orange new jersey"
The staff was pleasant. The room was great for the price you pay for. If you are looking for a not so expensive place just to sleep in, this is it.
"Only if necessary"
This hotel is in a very scary neighborhood, the only thing still open in the area. The hotel is fine once you are inside and it is 2 blocks from the train station. If you need a cheaper hotel for a stay near New York, then this is the one for you; however, be aware of your surroundings.
"Ramada East Orange"
The hotel was close to the train but not in the best area, trash was all around. The hotel smelled and was a little sketchy. Great if you are looking to save money.
"A decent place to stay"
Very satisfied , I stayed with my family of four. Some of the reviews made me a little nervous. I even booked another Hotel Just in case. But I cancelled ther other booking and our stay in Ramada East orange for four nights were excellent. Staffs are very NICE. The only problem is No Ice. Hope they will fix that soon, I give 4 star. and recomend others […] this hotel Read more
"Management sucks!"
The hotel management is the worst I have ever seen or heard. The hotel manager at check out time which is 11am goes around at 11am on the dot and bangs on every door in the building kicking out guests. I have never been so rushed and disrespected by management!
"“Budget place”"
The surrounding area is a little sketchy but we didnt feel threatened at any time. The staff is polite. We didnt like our first room because the ice and the vending machine were right infront of our room (lot of noise). So we got a different room without any hassle. The rooms are not superclean but we didnt see any bugs either. It takes you about 30 […] minutes to Penn Station NY. All in all good value for your money. If you are on a budget this is your hotel. "Take the good with the bad..."
We checked into this hotel on an extended stay waiting for an Amtrak departure. The room was big and the beds are comfortable. I liked the color scheme very much. There is a breakfast that we never did use but it is convenient for anyone who may want one. The mini kitchen and local shops and train made the room a good choice for an extended wait period. […] I was very comfortable in this room for about two weeks. This is the good. NOW...the bad. The problem with this hotel is the staff. I understand they are just doing what they think is their job but someone in training should explain what the proper procedures for hotel services are and the basic skills needed to provide great customer service. The folks running this hotel do not/will not honor the "Do Not Disturb" sign. The elder man who is the housekeeping super will knock incessantly day after day and if you refuse service and ask to have your privacy respected he will tell you that you do not have "privacy" in a hotel. It is not your home. They wanted to be in the room with us constantly and it became tedious telling them no thank you to the point of ridiculousness. To enter this room with us they began making excuses like checking the phones, and needing to look for damages. We tried to tell them that if any damages had occurred we would have called and asked for repairs of course. They then tried to say we were smoking in a non smoking room and they needed to come in. Out of 3 people in the room only one smoked and he went outside, past the front desk, every day to do so. We were so harassed by these people that we have asked for a refund of our last paid day and have made a reservation someplace else in a neighborhood far from this one. I am here as I write this, and on my way out tomorrow. I cannot wait to leave an otherwise very nice hotel room. Whomever is farming out the jobs for Ramada, please do a little better in the training for customer service and explain the rights and laws some. I looked it up on th Read more
"Convenience Only"
This was a last minute selection for convenience sakes. I would not stay here again.
"breakfast"
this needs to last at least another hour for the late risers and they need to offer more, yogurts, fruit, also a better variety of pastries. they also need someone there who speaks good English. thank you.
"Disappointing"
Stayed here a few times overnight, hotel is shabby and smells. There isn't much parking, the hotel staff barely speak English nor cares much for customer service. Every room I have been in has issues- the remote doesn't work, the knobs controlling the heat and air are broken, the toilet won't flush, there is no hot water. The hotel needs some major […] work. "My stay..."
If you don't mind safety, cleanliness and location this is the hotel for you! My room was located directly above a banquet hall. "Slept well but bring your own food."
We stayed here one night between flights. The beds were good and the room was comfortable and clean so we had a good night's sleep. If the free breakfast and in room coffee are important to you don't stay here. Waffles, plain bagels, one type of muffin and cold cereal. No fruit or juice. They had some funny tasting orange drink that the front desk said […] was Sunny D. My mother drinks decaf coffee but almost got regular because they had regular coffee in the orange decaf pot. When I pointed this out the front desk had no clue that orange meant decaf. We didn't want to use the coffee maker in the room because it was in the bathroom right next to the toilet. We were the only two passengers for the airport shuttle so one of the desk clerks took us in his personal van. I was very glad it had seat belts. The people working at the hotel were really very nice so if you only want a place to sleep it's great. It's also close to a train station into New York. Just bring your own food and coffee cup. Or buy snacks from the lobby store. Read more
I'm pretty sure that we saw some 'ladies of the night' in front of the hotel one evening. The room itself was fine enough for just sleeping, but I wouldn't hang out there (either in the hotel or the neighborhood).

"Unprofessional staff"
The representatives at the front desk and phones were very nasty and sinical and rude. I call this hotel prior to check in to ask a question the Indian man who answered the phone was extremely demeaning and actually hug the phone up while I was still on the call. The hallway on the seventh floor was wet from a leaking room and had a very bad odor.

"If you can get past the reservation desk, the room"
Reviews I read made me wary of this hotel. But since everything else was booked, I stayed there. True, the bullet proof glass in the lobby is horrible and gives you a bad feeling. It's also a bit shabby and the staff are not professional, but helpful enough. However, the room was great...new carpet, new beautiful curtains and bedding, granite in the […] bathroom. It was clean and welcoming. And I felt safe in the room. So, just check in and get upstairs. I'll stay here again. Read more
"Cheap & Close to Manhattan by Train"
Very reasonably priced hotel and just 2 stops away from Manhattan Main Train stop in New York is a very plus point of its location. Subway station is just walking distance away from the hotel. But be cautious about phone usage as there is no way except through a calling card you may be able to make a long distance call to even Manhattan. And at this […] place the calling cards are such that for each call you may have to shell out US$1/- every time! Read more

"The Ramada East Orange - You get what you pay for"
Okay, so if I hadn't already noticed that the hotel was in the 'hood, then the bullet-proof glass behind which the hotel employees conducted business made that fact exceedingly clear. The building was rundown but clean, the employees were brusque while not being downright rude. The free wifi was a much welcome surprise, though there wasn't much else […] to recommend the place. I had chosen the Ramada East Orange because of its close proximity to New York City, but the ridiculously abundant freeway construction and endlessly circuitous detours made what should have been a quick jaunt across the bridge an unbelievably frustrating ordeal. If I had it to do again I would definitely pay extra money for a better experience. Read more

"Stay away...did not feel safe"
I have lived and stayed in some tough neighborhoods, but this hotel was just plain scary. The check-in desk is behind plexiglass. Scary place, don't let the Ramada name fool you.
The hotel was farther from the airport than advertised. The neighborhood was not good. The "van service" was terrible. The van runs once an hour. We signed up for an 8 o' clock van. At eight twenty no van was is sight and the front desk clerk was not inclined to help. Fortunately a new person was coming on duty and he took pity on us and took us to […] the airport in his own car. The free breakfast was below average. The room was clean but also below average. "24 hour shuttle Ramada East Orange"
I was quite disappointed when the "24 hour shuttle" turned out to be ONE drop off and ONE pick up per room, so the attractiveness of staying here was gone. Since I was a tourist, I had to pay for taxis (you don´t want to walk in this neiborhood) and what I "saved" staying here...I over spent in transportation. You cannot open the windows at this hotel […] either, so you are exposed to a persistent moldy smell. I would not recommend it. Read more

I would not recommend this hotel. It was in a bad neighborhood and I'm sure there are better places near NYC and just the same price. The hotel staff was horrible. "Hot Water :)"
I was so afraid of not getting hot water, but I had to get this hotel because I was unable to fins another hotel in the city. The hotel did have hot water! It is an old hotel located in a central area. Needs cleanliness in the tub and hallways. Breakfast was poor.
"Ramada Inn in East Orange"
First things first! You get what you pay! 1. We checked in at 11AM and was shocked to see maintenance work is in full swing! There were carpets lying in the door way 2. The Hotel is around 4 to 5Miles from Airport. However one can't metered Cabs 3. The interior parts (doorway, lobby, etc) are poorly maintained 4. The room was well kept though
"Hotel Ramada EO - cheap and close to the public t."
We had to book a hotel at the last minute in NYC. This was the cheapest one even if it is not in NYC but thanks for the NJtransit easily reachable. The room was clean and well maintaned.
