"Great location...great view"Reviewed by John R of "Los Angeles, CA" on Mar 16, 2012
This was a great location and the condo was immaculate. It is located about 15 to 20 min. Cab ride from the airport. The only snag was that I needed an early check-in for a 10 am meeting, which is why I decided on these accommodations. After confirming, They could not accommodate the early check-in and I had to wait until their 3 pm check in. The staff handling the reception/check in was professional and really tried to help but could not. Finally at 2:45 pm, I was upgraded to an ocean view condo, which I appreciated and by that, time really needed. Next time, I'll ask about early check-in policy.
"Hale Hoola - a fantastic find"Reviewed by Kelly D of "Phoenix, AZ" on Feb 14, 2012
We had such a wonderful time staying at the Hale Hoola! Between the amazing hospitality shown by Mary and Bob, and the super nice other guests, it was almost like staying with family. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but Bob helped us find fantastic local restaurants and Mary served up amazing local fruit at breakfast each morning. A great find and we would love to go back.
"Great for family long stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 8, 2012
I stayed with my parents just one night after arriving at Kona on way to stay at the volcano. Definitely check to see which side of the road your reserved unit is on to manage your expectations. We were on the beach side, and my mom loved hearing the rush of the surf all night. The complex is 30yrs old, and is really a bunch of privately owned condos with a 24 hr reception desk. It was far enough away to have low traffic noise, but just a quick drive back to get breakfast. It had a full kitchen and would be great for families who want to cook/eat in to save some money. There was a small sandy beach with public access off the end of the complex which was popular for morning surfers/boogey boarders. a small strip of grass between building and reef had a nice gas grill for bbq-ing.
"Just great"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 31, 2012
Loved it. Although we were not on the ocean side, it was still just fine. We could use the pool and go over and watch the sunset.

We had a lovely time at the King's Land by HGV. The check in process was very very good. The amenities and the rooms were awesome. The location near the golf course was idyllic and the pool area was a clear winner with the family. We really enjoyed our visit here.

Kailua-Kona is the epicenter of shopping and recreation on Hawaii’s western shore. Big-game fishers delight off its waters, while shoppers reel in deals along Alii Drive. The Kailua-Kona area is a hiker’s paradise because many of its best beaches are accessible only by foot. Inland, the scent of coffee permeates the air as plantations harvest precious Kona beans. Nearby coffee farms open for tours.
see all hotels in Kailua-KonaI have stayed there several times but not happy that our kitchen blew a fuse and it took 24 hrs. to fix. By then all the expensive fish I had in the fridge was spoiled. Only one roll of toliet tissue, asked the front desk for another one, they said no.
"Enjoyed the stay"
The hotel was nice and had a good location but as far as parking is concerned there was nearly none. But the good thing was that they provided a discount for the paid parking across the street, only $5 for 24 hours, better than some others. The bed was not comfortable and a couple of other little things but we are easy to please and for the price I […] would stay again. Read more
"Conveniently Located"
This hotel was conveniently located to most of the places we wanted to go to. Walmart, Target, Snorkel Bob's, ABC Stores, theater, etc. The only problem we encountered was connecting successfully to the internet, even though we were "connected" to the hotel wireless system. Also, the light/fan fixture over the toilet dripped water occassionally.
"Kona Islander Vacation Club in Kona, Hawaii"
This wasn't a great choice of a place to stay in Kona. I was happy with the original booking but found after I arrived that their free parking was limited so for majority of nights I had to park elsewhere. When I booked last November, I was given the impression that the internet was free in the lobby. No it is not. It cost $3.00 per day & you can only […] pay via credit card, The room was okay except you could not lock the (2nd floor) balcony door, the main door deadbolt didn't work but the door knob lock worked, plus the bathroom pocket door handle was broken. The balcony was nice but the table was broken so you had to be careful when you used it. The location was good but I would not to choose to stay there next time I am in Kona. Read more
