"Good last minute buy"
Great location for walking to main SF attractions. Not good area at night. Very accommodating shuttle by hotel. Great area for Vietnamese and Thai food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Well appointed hotel with courteous and friendly staff. They have a free shuttle service drop off abd pick up to fisherman's wharf and union square. They are also happy to mind your luggage. Lots of great restaurants close by and staff are happy to make recommendations. I would not recommend walking in Ellis Street and more to Geary Street.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel in poor area of Downtown."
Good hotel in poor area of Downtown. Valet parking was great. Nice hotel with GYM.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Did the job for show at Civic Center"
We needed something close to the Civic Center, and it met that expectation. For us, we only really needed it as a crash pad. Tenderloin is a bit rough, but the road to the Center is around the corner and not as bad. I would be ok to stay here again. A mini fridge would be nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was a bit small but for the non-refundable advanced rate it was mostly satisfactory.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly staff and close to most main attraction"
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and a good size. Very convenient because they offer shuttle service to most main tourist areas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Won't stay again"
We spend 3 nights with our kids on SF, we brought our own car. Hotel is located in an old, ugly and bad-smelling neighborhood, surrounded by a lot of homeless shelters(some of the homeless were also mentally injured), forget about walking from/to Union Square at night. Valet parking staff was insufficient and not very friendly, they take too long every […] time we needed the car. Front desk staff was very friendly and provided some tips like the route to follow when walking to the Union Sqare to avoid unpleasant experience with homeless people, they offer complimentary transportation to main attractions . Room was clean, unfortunately located in the front of elevators, so very noisy. Complimentary breakfast was very limited also. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel in a bad area. Many homeless people sorroundong the hotel, but the staff tell you what streets to avoid. Nice gym with many options for workouts. Friendly staff. Definitely will come back!! Very safe hotel cannot get into it without key card, nor the elevator. Very accessible to everything without having to pay top dollar.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Hotel near City Hall"
First off, if any of you are planning on staying here - There is one thing that they forgot to list on the website. NO A/C. There type of A/C was portable fans. Luckily they do have a large sliding door that you receive air from, but you better get used to hearing weirdoes talking outside and cars. The area wasn't that bad, enjoyed how close it was […] to where we were going. Staff was decent felt like some have tick on there shoulder. Very gay friendly. Pictures on the website was a bit deceiving. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Room, Comfy Bed, Clean!"
We will come back & stay there again. The room was nice sized, clean, comfy bed & smelled fresh! The area we know to take a cab instead of walking when coming home late from the SF Giants game. No worries! We'll be back! (*.*)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, poor location"
The staff of the hotel was very friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself has been very nicely updated and it is a great price, but the neighborhood isn't great. It isn't so bad that I was ever worried about our safety, but there are a lot of homeless people in the surrounding blocks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel, not great location"
Driving to the hotel I got nervous about the surroundings and the street it was on, but once pulling into the hotel my worries went away, we had someone waiting to park our car for us and check in was quick and easy. Our room was clean and nice, and we were close to a lot of places. The continental breakfast was good, waffles, hard boiled eggs, fruit, […] cereal, toast, and stuff to make sandwiches. I plan on coming back to this hotel next year. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We choose this hotel for the price and convenience to the downtown area. Our daughter was attending a 3 day college program in the area of Union Square and the COVA gave us a good price which included breakfast and internet while some of the other hotels in the Union Square area had smaller rooms and no breakfast or internet. The neighborhood is not […] great since there is a large homeless community there but they never approached us or panhandled like in some cities. The neighborhood is dirty as are a number of the neighborhoods in the city but the staff were excellent. They provided shuttle service that was timely and friendly. They were pleasant and seemed to enjoy working together and were helpful in recommending transportation services and restaurants and sights to see. The breakfast was fabulous with a nice spread of cereal, breads and bagels to toast, fruit, hard boiled eggs, luncheon meat, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce, juices, milk, coffee and teas. There were even waffle irons to make your own waffles with nice jams, honey, and butter etc to put on top. The breakfast staff also were efficient and friendly keeping the area clean and well stocked. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A gem of a hotel in a not-so-great location"
Cova is absolutely awesome. The area is a bit seedy, but the hotel has safety measures and is an absolutely wonderful stay. I would stay there again on business.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hello, how are you?"
I arrived late at night into a neighborhood that was a bit rough. I'm a tough cookie though and paid no attention to that aspect. Upon checking in I was sent to the wrong room with a room key and got to wake up some other guests. I think attention to detail is an item which gets lost from time to time. PeaceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The breakfast was just ok. The worst thing was not so much the hotel but more the location. It was in a not so great part of town, kind of seedy. Also very very loud out on the street. I would not stay there again. The staff was nice though and there is decent shuttle service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, terrible neighborhood"
The hotel was really nice with a very kind staff. The neighborhood was super sketchy, full of homeless people. There was a hobo in the parking lot when we came back one night asking for money. It isn't the best neighborhood but it is pretty close to the nicer parts of the city. We were able to avoid walking around the neighborhood thanks to the free […] shuttles that the hotel provides to union square and fisherman's wharf. We took a cab if we needed to get around outside of the shuttle times. There's also free breakfast 7-10AM with a very basic menu. Overall, a good stay for a good price. The hotel is clean and updated to modern, the area is terrible. Drug ridden, not safe at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent, comfortable and affordable SF stay"
The hotel is clean and well maintained with good sized and comfortable rooms. The staff is friendly. The complementary breakfast is limited but gets the job done. It's quite centrally located in downtown SF but the neighbourhood has a large number of homeless people, who in general are harmless. The enclosed courtyard, which is used for parking, creates […] a sense of keeping them at bay and the hotel itself does not suffer from their presence. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Ok. The hotel itself was pleasant, however the location is what is called - Tenderloin and little Saigon. Very much a low income - homeless and drug addicted neighborhood. It's a $10 cab to fishermans wharf and the Marina district. The hotel also has shuttles. However, please be advised!!!! Do not walk around at night if you don't want to be harassed […] by homeless and drug addicts. I'm from the Bronx NY and even I was shocked at times. That being said, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Would I stay again probably not - although for the price not a bad hotel. Try staying closer to Market st. Union square. Marina. Or fishermans wharf if you like boats and sea food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"clean, overpriced and bad neigbborbood"
The pictures of the hotel online are very deceiving. It is pretty clean, but there were a lot of stains on the rug in the room. There was still masking tape in the bathroom from recent painting. The staff was very nice but the neighborhood was less than desirable. I would never stay there again because of the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"reasonable price with great service"
eventhough the hotel is not in the nice neighborhood and there were a lot of homeless hanging around at the time i was there, i was really impressed by cleanliness of the hotel and help of staff. a plus for free breakfast and the hotel locates close a great pho restaurant. walkable distance to union square and reasonable price. I would stay in this […] hotel again if i come back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great price and wonderful room and location"
This is a great find close to everything. I do not like the fact that parking is so expensive, but that is all of San Francisco for you. The fact that there IS parking was wonderful. I did not try the free breakfast since I was in a hurry to get to the airport, but that is nice of the hotel to offer that. I love the free wi-fi! For the most part, I […] stayed in the hotel to sleep. It's SF... what do you expect. If you don't need anything fancy and comfortable this is the place!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great value without sacrifice"
The hotel is clean, comfortable, and, while at the edge of the tenderloin, the location isn't bad if you're used to cities. I found it quieter than staying in Union Square. Has a nice, small fitness center that I never saw anyone else use. The beds are comfortable, if on the firm side. The rooms are incredibly spacious for San Francisco. But best of […] all, it's a screaming deal. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next trip to SF. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The location is not good, too many homeless are there. If we can't take the suttle bus (full or too late), we have to walk to hotel in danger. But if you can take the suttle bus, you can save your timeGenuine Expedia guest review
I had a great time staying inthis hotel.the only downside is the neighborhood, but not violent people. Otherwise the hotel personnel is very helpful and accomodating. Special mention to mark and michael from the front desk and the people in the breakfast area. sufficient breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pleasant surprise given negative comments related to location. Walked to Union Sq. every AM w/o problem. With the savings in room rates relative to nearby Union Sq. hotels, you can afford to cab back to the hotel after dark if you are concerned; heck, you cab multiple times every day - day or night - with the money you save and still come out ahead […] for a comparable hotel in a "better" location. I found the Cova to be clean and quiet with a very helpful and competent staff. However, contrary to rave reviews, the breakfast buffet (included in rates as is WI-FI) I found to be mediocre but acceptable. Yon can get breakfast nearby. Though no hotel restaurant or bar, nearby Vietnamese and Thai restaurants are excellent. So if you are on business near Union Sq. (e.g., JPMorgan conference) of just there on business for a day, excellent modern little hotel: this is a bargain. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel is nice but the location is terrible."
Hotel was good except a cup in my room which was not cleaned. The worst part is its location in the middle of scarily area surrounded by homeless people. I heard the place will be developed over time but not yet. As i took taxies for trip to and from the hotel, its reasonable price gone away.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel in downtown ! Will stay next time"
Considering the ultra-low price for such a nice hotel ! I would give it a very high recommand to all visitors who want stay in downtown but a little short in budget. It is a 3-start hotel but equipped with 4-star brand new facilities and comfortnesses in the room. Breakfast is in the top floor with a little city view while eating, but it is for free […] ! Fee wifi in the room is also a plus. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Clean Hotel, Service very good, Neighborhood not pleasing at all too many Ladies of the Night, druggies, etc. But hotel is really worth the price, we never walked in the neighborhood, parking good its in the hotel, so we never went out of the complex to get our car. Very worth the stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice little hotel in the Tenderloin"
Small room but nice, clean minimal design. The only negative was that after being out all day we got back late in the afternoon and the room hadn't been made up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is really clean and the service is great! they are really friendly and help a lot for all your questions and needs. Also the parking is good comparing with other rates. The breakfast is very good with lots of options. The only thing is that the neighborhood is somehow dirty (opposite the hotel) with many homeless around it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's very nice. The price is reasonable. I will come back to this hotel again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent for the price"
By far the best breakfast in the category. Comfortable and clean room, fairly good wi-fi internet. Transportation to Union Square and Fisherman's Warf works fine. The room may get hot in an unusual hot day in San Francisco, which will not be a problem since tourists spend the day out. Heater, but just a fan. The region, however, is full of homeless […] and it isn't pleasant to walk back to the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ok for the area"
Comfortable beds, flat screen, modernish hotel. No water pressure in shower at any time. Cannot control room temperature it is central system. Cold tile in hallway and bathrooms. Do not walk one block in the wrong direction. This city is filled with homeless people, it's a real turnoff. I don't think we will be coming back to San Fran anytime soon!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very affordable, clean, safe, pleasant, comfortable. The room was large and the staff was efficient, helpful, and friendly. A VERY pleasant stay and I will stay at the COVA again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Helpfulness of front desk staffs"
Missed one morning call（phone did not ring at all). Suggestions to local attractions were only ok (unable to provide suggestions to cigar bars around but I managed to google it myself). Internet connections always drop and need log in every now and then.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in an awful location"
The hotel itself was great - brand new rooms and friendly staff. However, the location is awful - right in the tenderloin district. For example, although the hotel is within walking distance to two BART Stations (which was one of its selling points), we needed to hire a taxi just to avoid walking through bad neighborhoods. Definitely wouldn't stay there […] again just because of the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was fine, the location was a little questionable as we walked from there to Market street, maybe a mile, in day light, we encountered several drug dealers and users.. even across from the police station!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cova is a nice find in SF!"
The Cova Hotel is in a good location in relation to almost anything since it has a free shuttle that runs to Union Square and the Wharf/Pier 39. It's still close enough to walk to Union Square but why walk when you can go on the shuttle! The staff was very helpful and great to chat with. The rooms were nice and surprisingly quiet for SF.
