The pictures on Expedia showed 'the nice" part of the hotel. Upon check-in, they put us in a different section of the hotel, the club section, which was further from the beach than expected. It was LOUD and CROWDED with all the, what seemed like, 18 yr olds... RIGHT outside our door as well as outside RIGHT our window.The food was terrible. We were extremely disappointed as the pictures did not accurately represent the resort. There was no iron, no dryer, no mini bar and one sucky restaurant. The hotel itself was as expected, basic room, basic alcoholic drinks and reasonable food. (food is better at restaurants that require reservations)The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. This would have been an ideal hotel for our stay if we didn't have this unfortunate encounter at the end to our night. I'm not sure if this is a common issue at this resort or if we just had bad luck. I was brushing my teeth I noticed a tiny little bug, then took a closer look and saw at least 20 tiny little bugs running around the counter top, We immediately packed our things. I'd understand if a spider or a mosquito got into the room but this was a clear indication that either a infestation or nest of some sort. I unfortunately had a horrible paranoid sleep due to that late night bug discovery. I don't want to suggest never staying at this hotel, but an inspection (specifically sink/bathroom) of the room when you check in is definitely advised! Read more

There were 3 things about this resort we liked, the infinity pool, the 9th floor rooftop bar and the wait staff. Other than that, everything else was a big dissapointment. The food was average, the breakfast buffet was okay, but it was the same thing every single day. We were able to eat one night at the "nice" restaurant which required reservations, […] most of the time they were booked, the food was definately not something to toot about. We stayed on the Grand side and were quite disappointed when we got to our room, we had a view of the alley and the next hotel and it stunk due to the sewer drain. We requested a new room, we had to wait a day, day later, went back and really had to work to get a decent room, once we did, it was nice. But the hotel itself in the corridors are very loud. We had to sleep with music on because of the loudness in the hallways. One morning we finally called the front desk at 4 am because there were people in the hallway having what sounded like a party between rooms, ridiculous that they didn't do anything about it before hand. Bottom line, if you've already reserved here, make the best of it, go get your own alcohol as the drinks are not good, if you haven't, I would definately try another place with better reviews. Even though it was inexpensive, it doesn't have to be a total disappointment, with the exception of the wait staff, they were awesome, very attentive, never waited long for service! Read more

Softes beds I have ever been in out of 9 years of going to PVR. Staff at hotel was very Friendly. If you do the all inclusive make sure you look at the manu at the pool bar. They have more than just hot dogs and hambergers.

My wife and i enjoyed our stay at the resort. The employees were very friendly and helpful.They did their best to keep the resort clean and organized. The food was tasty and plentiful. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Decent budget all inclusive but difficult to eat in the same buffet environment three times a day and the food was mediocre. Lots of kids which would have been great for our daughter but she doesn't speak Spanish and most guests are spanish speaking. What was very disappointing and makes me want to warn people is that this hotel does not EVEN TRY to accommodation you and help you have a wonderful holiday. I want to provide you a very simple basic example of how the hotel operates...we went to the el a cart for supper and were ten minutes late for our reservation...the place was pretty much empty and they were not going to allow us to eat there because we were late...this is a very good example of how hard would it be to just let us go in and eat with out giving us trouble? Our check-in was the only problem we had. We had all requested a King bed, however none of our room had king beds. Within a few days everyone was moved to a room with a king bed. The hotel was basically okay, for an all inclusive I thought it was a bit weak. They gave you 2 small bottles of water, you had to buy more if you wanted more, so for an all inclusive this should have been included. No bacon at breakfast, sausages were weiners. We stayed 11 nights in early December 2010 at the Pelicanos Grand. We were extremely satisfied with our visit. The room was spacious and clean. We had a hairdryer, iron & ironing board, safe, mini bar and bottled water. Comfy beds and soft pillows (somewhat rare for Mexico). The whole staff at the hotel was helpful and friendly - the waiters and bar […] tenders were especially nice. The food was good and each night had variety. The specialty restaurant food was especially good. Most evenings they provided live entertainment. For drinks while watching the awesome sunsets, we went to the roof top Sky Lounge - it was great. The hotel and the surrounding area was very clean and the staff was very helpful and polite. During the weekends the hotel was way too noisy and loud. If you want peace and quiet do not stay at this hotel. If you are young, social and like to party and like to participate in the evening programs arranged by the hotel this is the place for you. The beach […] was swimmable but not good. There are much nicer beaches up north. I would not rekommend this hotel for couples that want to go on a romantic vacation, but for people who just want to get drunk and party this is a really nice hotel. Read more
