The room floors are tile and you can hear everyone else in their rooms in the hotel. The shower was about 2' X 2'and as I had to shave my legs, my butt busted the door open and I am a petite Asian Woman. The "saving grace" for this hotel was the buffet breakfast that was inclusive in the hotel rate.

Reviewed by Brad of Cedar Park on Aug 7, 2009
We used the hotel as our base for visiting Cinque Terre. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station. It's quite and for the most part comfortable. When we were there the temperature was a bit high and the air conditioner in the room didn't keep the room cool -- but that's something I've experienced in other hotels throughout Europe. The location was also convenient to restaurants and shopping.

We stayed for 4 nights, using it as out headquarters for visits to the Cinque Terre. Its convenient to the train station, the walking area of the shopping/restaurant district, and the waterfront. The staff was helpful and English was not a problem. The room was comfortable and adequately sized. Its only deficiencies were that there was no light over the desk and the shower was extremely small (as was typical for most of the Italian hotels we stayed at during our 3 week stay in Italy). The hotel backed up closely to large appartment buildings. Each late afternoon and early evening about 50 or more teenagers gathered below our window. They did not cause trouble other than covering about every square inch of reachable wall space with grafiti. The noise from their conversations was extremely loud, and the sound echoed. Suggest requesting a room in front. Breakfast: good, but typically Italian (coffee/tea, croissants, bread, pastries, ham, cheese, fatty cold cuts, cold cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs, "juice") WiFi: In out three week stay in Italy, it was the only hotel that did not charge extra for an internet connection.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 3, 2008
Upon our arrival at the hotel (around 8pm) we were greeted by an unfriendly and unwelcoming front desk clerk. She said there were no parking spots left for the hotel and I would need to drive around to find a spot that would not result in a ticket. Needless to say, this can be very difficult in Italy. I decided that if I did receive a ticket, the '4-Star' hotel would pay for it. The room itself was great, although the shower was very small. We walked to find a restaurant for dinner and found a limited selection. The town did not seem like one that you would want to be in at night. It was not tourist friendly. A good stopover on your way to Cinque Terre, but nothing more. Terrible service from a '4-star' hotel. All interaction with the front desk was poor and not at all helpful.

If you HAVE to stay in La Spezia this is a great hotel. It is farther from the train station than stated and it is not really in the nicest of neighborhoods. The staff and room were great. Very clean! If you are staying here because you plan on going to Cinque Terre- dont stay in La Spezia- you can get a hotel in any of the cities- way more convenient (20 min train ride)

What a great location from which to visit Cinque Terre. Just a quick walk up the street to the train station and you can hop on the train for 1 euro (if you go INTO the train station) and spend the day in the villages. Very helpful staff regardless of what we needed or asked.

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel and we were lucky not to stay at the 4th floor (the noisy one). The hotel is modern and in the middle of the city center. Many TV channels in English, and free wireless internet connection in the room. The breakfast was not of the highest quality. Only boiled eggs (not English breakfast) and fine bread. The fruit selection was also poor. Another point to make is that one had to ask the already too busy waiter for coffee oneself, and only the guests knowing about this would do this. Otherwise you have to drink the dried up one in the cans.

Nice and modern hotel in the middle of the city center. You take the elevator right down into the shopping street. Only 5-10 minutes walt to the central station, where you can take the tran to Cinque Terre. Plus for free internet acsess in all rooms. On the negative side we were not happy about living on the 4 floor, underneath the breakfast room and reception. The chairs made a lot of noise when they were moved around. So it was impossible to sleep from 06-10. They should have more tv-channels.
