"Great for the price."
Clean and quite. Not far from Beale Street, about a $10.00 cab ride. A lot less noisy than the hotels closer to Beale. I was pleased.Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff very helpful, rooms clean the only thing not very good was i could hear everything going on in the rooms on both sides of me.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice quiet secluded hotel"
Excellent quiet secluded hotel will definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel staff was very friendly. The beds were very comfortable. Great breakfast. And just down the road from UT. The walls are a little thin so you can hear others TV's. And the bathroom needed more lighting.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad for an overnight stay"
Nothing spectacular. But not bad either. Was passing through the area and needed a place to stay for the night. Breakfast wasn't great, and night front desk clerk was not overly friendly. Probably would stay closer to downtown next time as this hotel is a little ways away from downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No problems here."
Got this place mostly because I was moving and left a bunch of stuff in my back seat, and this hotel had what appeared to be fenced parking. The lot is indeed completely fenced except for the entrance, pretty well lit and it was pretty easy to park in view of the lobby. Few of the spots were clearly visible from the streets, and I guess it was ok because […] my car was not broken into the next morning. The breakfast was the usual stuff out of a package, but they had a waffle iron, like the ones you might've had in college dining halls. And let me tell you, that made the breakfast way better than most free hotel breakfasts. Coffee was acceptable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
No microwave in room but one in lobby. Pretty basic but clean and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Met my standards, and I'm picky!"
I wanted to stay near downtown Memphis without paying downtown prices. I found that midtown was the answer. I chose this hotel because parking is free and breakfast is included and downtown was only one mile away. I found my room to be quiet, clean, and comfortable enough. I inspected the mattress & bedding and found a new-looking mattress and clean […] bedding (no hair, debris, visible stains, insects). Likewise, the bathroom met my cleanliness standards. (I don't expect perfection but I also don't like to find evidence of the last person who stayed there.) The trolley is a good way to get around if you are prepared. It costs one dollar per person, exact change/cash or coin only. Leave for your destination in plenty of time because it makes frequent stops. Evidently in the off-season it stops running at 6pm so be prepared to drive or call a cab instead if you'll be out later. Location appeared to be mostly safe; homeless folks are everywhere in Memphis so you will see them walking the sidewalks wherever you stay. We were two girls traveling alone and the homeless men we encountered simply smiled and nodded; we never felt afraid. The hotel has a 24 hour attendant and the entrance is accessible via guest keycard only in the late hours of the night. Breakfast was good. Choices included apple or orange juice, coffee, bagels or toast, yogurt, muffins or pastries, waffles that you make yourself, cereal, and fruit. I found the area to be clean and well-stocked. Overall good experience! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The animal hospital next door has a very touchy and very loud security system that went off two of three nights that we stayed there. Indeed it went off twice on one night. The police never arrived, so I'm presuming they were false alarms. So it's not a security issue. What it is is a peace and quiet issue. The hotel management should get their neighbors […] to address this issue ASAP b/c it marred what was otherwise a nice stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient trolley location to get downtown."
Good breakfast, quick and prompt service from the front desk. This hotel is smaller than I imagined but was a fair hotel for the price. Not too far from Beale street but we did pay $10 for a cab to get home after taking the trolley down. My boyfriend and I met in Memphis, neither of us having been before and we were both pleased. It was easy to locate […] off the interstate and the front desk was helpful finding places to eat and see while we were in town! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean, Quiet Accommodations"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. This was our first time to Memphis and they all made it a lot easier to visit great sites.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel would not be considered centrally located except my reason for visiting was a meeting at the optometry school across the street. Rooms were very basic but seemed clean. Bed wasn't bad but sheets and pillows had seen better days. Hallways are a bit claustrophobic but ok. Service seemed adequate.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nothing special, but did the trick. Staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Thin walls and low staff"
We were excited to see a bit of Beale Street in Memphis, but we didn't want to stay up all night. Unfortunately, we didn't get much of a choice. Sad to say, the management hasn't done a lot to insulate each room from each other. The walls are thin, so we heard every word when our neighbors came back from wherever they'd been, and they were NOT getting […] along. We didn't get a lot of sleep due to their loud arguing. The lumpy pillows don't help, and neither does the fact that for some reason GenX has hardwood floors in the hallway?! The staff here is nice, but there didn't seem to be enough of them to keep breakfast operating well. Never been anywhere that the front desk manager is also running the free breakfast. Good time . Only wish hotel had a pool. Staff offered good placrs to eat.Genuine Expedia guest review
"right next to SCO, best one to stay at near SCO"
Nice little hotel. Room didn't have towels in it so had to get some from front desk. Really helpful and nice front desk staff. Its a small hotel so they don't have everything but they are decent. should add more products selection to the store.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel staff was great. Rooms average but cleanGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room is clean, hotel staff are friendly. Did'nt like the breakfast buffet though, not much selection.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The hotel was Quiet"
The hotel was located close enough to downtown; and quiet. The individual behind the counter was friendly, helpful and did chose a very quiet room. I am not sure the location of this hotel worked for me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not far from area attractions"
My visit was AWESOME! It was more than I expected and very CLEAN!!!! I would stay here again. I told my family about this hotel and they are staying there labor day weekend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel staff help us out a lot and were very nice . My wife and I will be back and also we love the free parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"At nights a car is definitely needed."
The staff was helpful and accommodating. They were prompt in addressing issues. The breakfast was good. The location was easily accessible to the highways and must see areas. I will definitely return to this hotel should I revisit Memphis.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice place. Convenient to downtown. Very comfortable feel to the place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not exactly downtown, but good value for being very close. Across the highway from Beale St etc. But everything is just a few minutes by car. Very close to Sun Studios. Quality of hotel is top notch, especially for the price. Bed was more comfortable than several others I've stayed at for same price. Neighborhood felt slightly iffy, but never felt […] unsafe. "convenient but average"
The one thing going for this hotel is location. It's in midtown but not far from Sun studios and other attractions. Breakfast was a bit skimpy. The attendant was not attentive to refreshing the coffee and other breakfast items. You had to ask. Actually the desk clerk doubled as the breakfast attendant. King bed was lumpy. While in Memphis check out […] the free summer concerts at the Levitt Shell which is nearby the hotel. You can take the trolley outside the hotel for a dollar into town. "close to downtown"
experience of Memphis great.....way overpriced for room we slept in...Genuine Expedia guest review
We had just stayed at a terrible days inn passing through Charlotte. The best western was clean, smelled fresh, and staff was polite and friendly!! Totally worth the money. Very close to downtown Memphis and Beale st!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best of both worlds"
Old hotel feel but rooms look like they have been updated. Staff was friendly. I only stayed one night. It was quiet and provided easy access to the interstate and Beale street was only about a 5 minute drive strait down one street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel near downtown Memphis"
The hotel was nice. It had very small hot hallways which were slightly claustrophobic. The rooms were very spacious, clean and suitable. The area seemed rather scary but that just seemed to be the way a lot of the areas looked. Felt very safe once inside the motel. I would recommend the hotel to others.Genuine Expedia guest review
There was a bad smell in the lobby. The room was nice and clean. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was clean and comfortable. Didn't try the breakfast. Close to medical district. Beale street a short cab ride away but driving and parking may be a little less expensive. Overall we were completely satisfied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noisy, smelly and over priced."
It's a good location right off the interstate; however, the bathroom smelled like urine and the room had a funky musty smell as well. My husband felt the bed was uncomfortable but I didn't mind it at all. It was very loud in the hallway with uncarpeted floors. We thought about leaving on the bathroom light and fan to block the noise from our loud neighbors […] in the room next door but the fan was so loud we opted to go with hoping the neighbors quieted down -- which they did. Breakfast was decent, although could have had a little more variety given the price paid. We stayed in a Super 8 the next night and got a better smelling room, a similar bed and similar breakfast for half the price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great experience for a hotel in this price range"
Staff were so friendly and helpful! It was easy to get downtown via trolley or cab from the location, and it seemed like a relatively safe area. The room was very comfortable and clean. Stay away from the free breakfast--the food was old and a bit gross. Otherwise, fantastic experience!Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice. Appeared clean. Did see a roach in the bedroom. Breakfast was pretty basic as far as hotels go;however, the dining area was small. The front desk clerk seemed responsible for both areas which was not good. Overall a decent place to stay overnight.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was perfect for what I needed. It was clean and roomy. Front desk was courteous and helpful. Location was nice. just a short trolley ride to downtown and Beale street. Trolley stops about a block from hotel. Overall it was a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice place to stay. Would like to see them upgrade their towels, they were rather old and rough not soft.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good, but not greast"
Overall, I was pleased with Best Western Gen X in Memphis, it was close to Beale Street and not to far from attractions and the price was nice. The service was very good, no complaints, the hotel is in good condition, the rooms were nice, but the linens had some stains on them. The pillows were soft. This hotel is located by all the hospitals and some […] teaching institutions, but it seemed like a good area. The Trolly that runs down to Beale Street runs right in front of the hotel whiich was very convenient. If I go back to Memphis I will use them again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We booked at the last minute, to be nearer the city centre and were given the room assigned for disabled guests which was completely ok for us. Reception employees were very friendly and extremely helpful. Only thing we couldn't rate the hotel on was breakfast as we decided to have a lay in!!Would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great get away."
Great location, good staff, okay breakfast (warm and cold options available).Genuine Expedia guest review
Utilitarian. Local to highway, breakfast is decent. Not bad, just not much more than the bare necessities.Genuine Expedia guest review
"very pleased and great value"
I travel for business and found this hotel convenient to local music and restaurants (very short drive or $10 taxi) as well as easy access to main roads. Clean, comfortable and better than many hotels at higher price points.Front desk person Linda was VERY helpful. Will stay againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
upon arrival, staff was very friendly and went out of her way to be helpful. Breakfast could have been better, seemed apple juice was watered down, and seemed corners were cut. Close to places we wanted to see and visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice quiet hotel with great service. A short walk from the 1920 trolley system that's pretty cool and economical. Front desk staff was terrific on all shifts, very accommodating and knowledgable about the area. Breakfast was the usual hot and cold stuff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great quality for the money"
Yes, the hotel is older, but our room was top-notch. Location is good, close to trolley line downtown. The trolley quits running at 5 p.m. on Sundays, so we caught a taxi back to the hotel. If you're there over a Sunday, be sure to head across the street to Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, an African-American congregation that is wonderful. Participated […] in an awesome worship service there. Breakfast was so-so, about what you'd expect. All in all, it was fine for the bowl game we were there to attend. "Great hotel for tourists"
The Best Western Plus: GenX Inn was a great facility to stay at when visiting Memphis. The hotel is located 2 blocks from a trolley station, which made traveling downtown fairly simple. The complementary breakfast that was served every morning was perfect and satisfying. The hotel was very clean, even amongst renovations. Our room was clean and comfortable […] throughout the duration of our stay. There is free wi-fi available as well. If you are looking to experience the city, the hotel is not far from downtown, but as a tourist the trolley system was somewhat confusing to navigate and I would recommened staying at a hotel more in the downtown region. Not very clean, a lot of construction going on. First 4 keys to my room did not work. There was brown liquid in the sink when I first got to the room (gross!). The toilet wasn't very clean, either. Too bad I didn't go with one of the many other hotels down the street. I am a frequent business traveler, and this was by far my worst stay of the year.Genuine Expedia guest review
"UPSCALE STYLE W/O UPSCALE PRICE"
Over all, the stay at this hotel was top-notch for the price given the location. You can stay in downtown Memphis and pay way higher prices or travel 2 miles to this hotel and get the same quality for much less money. Very well secured parking area and staff was polite and friendly but professional as well. You'll appreciate the modern contemporary […] updated decor. Very trendy for 20-40 year-olds. I was unsure what to expect of this hotel b/c of the variety of reviews of it being good to scary. I must say that this hotel was very clean and spacious. I booked a King room, but they were down to only one room and gave me double Queen at no extra cost. As far as location, it is less than 2 miles from Beale St. (less than a $10 cab ride). Some reviews […] said it wasn't in a great area, but remember this is the city of Memphis! I wasn't worried at all. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
