Our room was quiet and quite large for New York. The linens and pillows on the bed were very comfortable. The breakfast offer quite a few choices and there was a lot of seating so you dont feel crowded. The front desk was helpful and allowed us to stow our bags after check out until our flight. This hotel has an excellent location, short walk to the Empire State Building and Time Square/Broadway. We really liked the complimentary breakfast. The hotel staff was nice and friendly, which is not typical in New York. There is a parking garage nearby on the same street, just a block away. I left the hotel room all day and the room was not clean when I returned. I was told it takes a minute to get to the 15th floor. I had room service one time in 3 days. My souvenirs were missing from the room after it was finally cleaned. I was paid for them. The staff was very nice.

PROS: Delicious breakfast with many options to choose from. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Perfect location only a couple of blocks from Times Square. The hotel is just north of Macy's which is perfect for shopping. Also, very close to many good restaurants, a subway stop, and bus stops for the city bus or […] the tour buses. CONS: The curtains didn't close all the way and we like a dark room. Also, the hotel is small, only 6 rooms per floor, so it is not possible to get a room away from the elevators where most of the hallway noise tends to be. We could also hear a great deal of noise from the streets but that comes with the location of any hotel in Midtown... and probably all over NYC. Overall, we loved this hotel and would go back! We stayed for 5 days. The room was clean and nicely furnished. We had no problems with street noise. The room size was pretty good for NYC. The staff was courteous. The breakfast was surprisingly robust with eggs, meat, yogurt, pastries and cereals. Get to breakfast early, once the yogurt for the day runs out, there is no replacement.

We came up for events at Madison Square Garden- how great to be back in your room 10 minutes after the event ends! we took in a Mets game as well and the 7 train was right there at Penn Station as well. Great location, will definitely stay again. Plus, breakfast in the am saves you$$$$$

I attended a convention at the Javits Center. The Wingate is located about a block from Macy's. The day I arrived, they checked my bag without charge even though it was too early to check in. The room was spacious by New York standards and had a very comfortable king-sized bed. It had a microwave and mini-fridge. It was a relatively quiet street although […] it would have been nice if they had waited until later than 6AM to start jackhammering one day that I was there. There is a free breakfast included that included not only the usual cold cereal and bagels but scrambled eggs and sausage one day and eggs and bacon the next. This was our 2nd stay.....great location. Easy walk to all sights and subway. The service was good. Front desk messed up our car reservations and we had to ask for towels. Great breakfast and overall everyone at the hotel was very accomodating and friendly. I would definately stay there again. Cant wait until our next trip to NYC.

Bathroom fan very loud! Also the safe didn't work. They wanted us to vacate the room one afternoon because they had a cleaning crew coming to do carpet and drapes. Said we could then us the room but stay off the upholstered furniture.

The shining light for the hotel comes from the staff. They are helpful, polite and genuinely interested in the welfare of the guests as well as the facilities. It is clear that the management of the hotel has created an atmosphere among the staff of service and teamwork. Loved this hotel! It was an easy walk from Penn Station, Macy's, the subway, etc. We also walked to Rockefeller Center and Times Square from this hotel. The room was larger than I expected, plenty of room for two teenagers and myself. The beds were extremely comfortable! My only "complaints" would be that there was no mirror outside of the bathroom […] which for three "women" all trying to get ready at the same time was a bit of a problem. Our friends who were on a different floor did have the second mirror outside of the bathroom so I would probably request that next time. Also, I wasn't crazy about the water pressure in the shower. I live in NYC with my boyfriend and needed a weekend to just getaway to someplace quiet for a few days of peace. I found that at the Wingate Hotel. You would think that being only a block from one of the busiest streets in Midtown, it would be pretty noisy but it wasn't all that bad. They've thought of everything. I use ear plugs at home to block my […] boyfriend's snoring out, so I left them home. But this hotel had a newly sealed pair on the night stand, which I actually used due to a lousy but highly "in love" couple in the neighboring room. If you're used to nice things, this hotel is right up your alley. Nothing to swoon over, but I felt right at home with the luxury linens. I even went out to the pharmacy during my stay to buy a bigger bottle of the Neutrogena body lotion they have along with the other toiletries in the bathroom. All in all, a GREAT stay. Not to mention the free hot breakfast. Not your usual cold bagels and cereal, although they have have that too. A waffle maker, waffle batter, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage were among some things they served on alternating days. Read more

I stayed only one night but was charged for 4 nights. I requested the manager on duty to give me a credit for the 3 unused nights. He assured me that he would give me a credit for at least two nights. When contacted again, the manager on duty at the hotel stated he does not recollect any such discussion with me. This attitude reflects completely unethical […] and unprofessional business practice on the part of the hotel staff. At a minimum, one expects within the business environment that if a hotel or company gives its word, they would do everything within their power to honor their commitment. Until they honor their word, I wish to reserve my judgment about the standards of this hotel. Read more
