Traders is literally a walk through a park from the Towers and the large attached mall of 600 shops. It is also an easy walk to the Pavilion centre for nightlife and only a few blocks more to the Bukit Bentang bar area and the Jalan Alor street food (look for Fat Brother). Only complaints: the rooftop pool area becomes a nightclub at night with $10 pints and $20 cocktails; they have joined the horrible bathroom design trend for half-glass shower that has an open (cold) side. The service was excellent from the bell boy to the registration staff and the concierge service. I feel all the staff made an effort to make your stay wonderful. However, the housekeeping was rather tardy at cleaning the room. We arrive to a room that had some hair in the restroom. The water was slightly yellow in color in the sink. Traders is connected to the KLCC and walking distance to Petronas Towers. My room had a beautiful view of the towers and park. Everyone on staff was extremely accomodating and eager to address all questions and requests.

1) Location: Excellent. Hotel is connected through an air conditioned passage to the Pavilion and the KLCC malls. 2) Food: Middle Eastern dishes are a joke. For example the homes is a tahyna dominant paste, the fatosh is big slices of tomato and whole lutes leaves with no lemon and olive oil. I advise the management to be more honest with their customers […] and simply hire a middle eastern cook not a Chinese or Indian cook to prepare middle eastern dishes. The funny thing, in front of these dishes a false impression is written that these dishes were taken from Abu Dhabi or Dubai. I am sure if this quality of middle eastern dishes is served in Abu Dhabi or Dhabi the hotel or restaurant serving these dishes will be penalized for cheating. 3) The hotel is definitely a 4 star hotel. The narrow and poor lobby, the some how not that great room service, quality of food served for in-room dining and the quality of the breakfast, quality of services given to the privilege club and others are not matching with a 5-star level. The good thing about the privilege club is the generous alcoholic drinks during their happy hour. 4) On the ground floor, hotel has a tour service desk. We used this for 2 tours. The inner city visit to the butterfly/birds/flowers was good. The other arrangement to visit Malaka was a disaster. The driver did not come on time, the car was with very bad suspension (shock absorber) and the 2-hr trip to Malaka was a nightmare and felt that you are riding a horse. Read more

Really nice staff but a couple of times that I ordered room service I had to call twice (or more) to make sure they were coming because it took way longer than average. Also, the rooms (I stayed in two rooms) were not great. Scratched furniture, old carpet, and a door and drawers that wouldn't shut unless by force make it difficult to recommend this […] hotel. That said, really nice concierge was super helpful to my stay and the area is easily accessible for shopping. And I don't know any other hotels in KL. I am a swimmer and was disappointed with the pool which sounded amazing at first. They close it down after 7 pm as everybody arrives to drink. Liked the hotel a lot - strangely the carpet in our room was all wrinkled, and I kept thinking that I would trip. Worth upgrading for a view of the Petronas Towers and don't miss the view from the sky bar. Great breakfast buffet, as well.

The hotel is in the middle of the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Center. The hotel is nice and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. The best part is the views. I'd stay at Traders KL again, but it wasn't as wonderful as I'd hoped. I paid in advance on a weekend special rate for Friday to Sunday, 23 to 25 March. Only when I checked in was I told that rooms with king beds "in that class" (presumably the special weekend rate) were sold out. I got Room 2501, very small and with twin beds, next to the elevator. […] There was no elevator noise, but this was clearly the least-desirable room on the floor. The free WiFi, access to the Traders Club on Floor 32, and the included breakfast all occurred as offered. The employees I met were all solicitous and eager to please. I went to KL for the weekend to work, and I accomplished that work. It just wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped. I don't understand why hotels (Traders is not the only one) offer a special rate as an inducement to stay, and then give the lamest rooms to those guests. If the hotel is completely full, that would be understandable. I've no idea if the hotel was full, but if they were still offering a discount weekend rate only 4 days in advance, I'd guess they weren't full. Guess that's why people stay at the sister hotel, the Shang (which was sold out last weekend). Read more

I booked a rate that was King OR 2 singles but really wanted a King bed and stated my preference. However, they only had singles due to overbooking of Kings. The wifi connection resets every 30 seconds and is slow when it does stay on. We were really hoping for better for the price in KL... The pool and hot tub are open-roof even when its raining, making it hard to enjoy if the weather is not cooperating. The hot tub is also only suitable for 2-3 people max. We stayed just after new year's on a trip from bali and then travelling to Singapore; KL was by far our favorite and a lot of it had to do with this hotel. The location is stellar (right across from petronas towers, in the heart of the Golden Triangle, and next to the mall which also has a metro stop with great access to the rest of the city), the nearby […] food is phenomenal (mostly because the food court in the mall is amazing), the hotel service and staff are great in every respect, with a knowledgable concierge and friendly faces no matter who you speak to, and the amenities in the hotel itself were also great (the hotel is known for its Skybar, a restaurant with arguably the best views of the towers in the city, which is also the location of the pool and jacuzzi during the daytime; they also have a phenomenal workout room and friendly business center). We had a tower view room which was amazing! When selecting a room, pick an option that includes access to the business lounge - it's really worth it. You can sign up for it at the hotel as well which is what we did. In the lounge they have free breakfast, plus free drinks and appetizers later in the evening - definitely worth it! The upstairs pool/bar […] is pretty nice too. The breakfast buffet on the fifth floor is one of the best we've had - wide variety of Asian and Indian foods as well as western food. If you sign up for the upstairs lounge, breakfast here is included (at least it was when we signed up). We had the Twin Towers View Room for New Year's Eve and the view of the Petronas Towers was wonderful. At midnight, the fireworks were spectacular. Never saw fireworks so close. We had a very memorable stay.

The Towers view of the Traders Hotel is absolutely beautiful -- definitely get a towers view and request a high floor (we were on the 23'rd)! But, even if you don't get the Towers side view, you can go into the Sky Bar at night and enjoy the view. Plus, on Friday night it was a nice Club scene with a great DJ -- definitely Club music though the environment […] was one of chilling with some drinks and good company. Luxurious seats line the side of the pool with awesome views of the Petronas Towers! The Bathroom was very luxurious and the Hot showers/bath was awesome! Can't say enough about our experience. Location is excellent, we easily walked across the park in the morning to get tickets for the Petronas Towers tour (show up EARLY at 6:30 am to queue up). Multiple malls (open air and close) are within walking distance. The only downfall is that it can be confusing how to park / enter the hotel upon arrival. However, once you understand it is easy to work around. The actual check-in is located on the 5'th floor (not ground floor). Only concierge is located on the ground floor, so you must pull in to drop off your bags in front -- they will be delivered to your room after check-in -- then go park (or just pay $20 ringit for them to park for your convenience). Finally, you go up to the 5'th floor to check in, and 10 mins later your bags are delivered to your room. But, the concierge was excellent and very useful for directions, map printouts, etc. Can't say enough for our visit to KL! Read more

Lives up the 5 star experience from the moment you step out of the taxi till you leave. Only a few minor cravats regarding the organization of their lobby, but once you figure it out, everything is ok. Check in and registration desks are on the 5th floor, concierge is on the 1st floor. Confusing, since they don't communicate well with each other. At […] checkout, registration person was quick to say "Bags are already at the concierge", when it was apparent he had NO clue if they actually were. Concierge apparently also had no clue if we had finished checking out, so the communication was up to me. No problem, but we had to unnecessarily wait for our bags due to this tedious process. Outside of this minor, and possibly isolated incident, the overall stay actually met my expectations. The hotel looks and feels new, and the only time you can tell its aging is in the rooms, due to the almost negligible residual rust or discoloration from dampness on certain areas in the bathroom (tropical country after all). (oh, and the strangely cracked tiles due to poorly designed bathroom. Who designed this thing? getting to the towel rack is like a safari expedition...) Hotel gets aces for location, right on the park, next to the convention center, and across from the Petronas Towers. BUT, if you wanted to go elsewhere, you realize, the hotel is tucked away behind the convention center. Again, just a bit confusing. Service felt luxurious, amenities were luxurious, though not outlandishly priced. Would highly recommend. Read more

Netherlands to New Zealand is a big trip, better to cut it in two. We used Traders hotel several times now, works for us. They even have a special Traders Lounge now, where you can relax and snack and drink yourself through the day. Book Park view to get direct view to the Petronas towers or the cheaper City view.
