"Close to the Canal and the Bike Path"
Enjoyed the stay. Room was upstairs, with an adjacent non-adjoining bathroom. Place was a bit hard to find as in not well marked, and the house appears a bit run down, but it was comfortable and the host was very friendly. Breakfast matched the place, adequate and acceptable. Quiet neighborhood.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hosts were great to visit with. Bed and Shower comfortable. Breakfast was a little bland for a B&B but had enough rich tasting food while in the Cape. Overall good experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great entrance to Cape Cod"
Lovely B & B located just over the Bridge; great for walking along the Canal. Very friendly host. Allowed us, on a weekday night in July, to stay one night on our way further out the Cape. However, if you want protein for breakfast this is not the place. Cereal, scones, muffins, coffee, tea, juice in abundance but not a hard boiled egg or yogurt in […] sight. "Great antique filled B&B"
Very comfortable accomodations my only comment is the breakfast was quite limited. I would recommend more fresh fruit and perhaps some warm fresh pastries or muffins. Other than that a very gracious host. We would definetly return in the future.Genuine Expedia guest review
"New England Quaint"
My husband and I had an excellent stay at The Holly House. Our host, Tom was friendly and helpful. The room had every amenity and was very comfortable and cozy. Tom's homemade scones were very tasty. We are already planning to come back. a nice place and a good value.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect B&B for couples or family"
Historic adorned bed & breakfast(room reached by circular staircase). Room very spacious and clean-with private terrace and adjoining huge bathroom. Breakfast was SCONES(HOMEMADE & DIFFERENT FLAVORS EACH MORNING), bread & english muffins, fruit, cold cereal & juices(jams butter & cream cheese also on table). Perfect presentation each morning-no waiting […] for food to be placed. Close to routes 6, 6A and 28 & steamship parking lot for Martha's Vineyard. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"pleasant night's rest"
Convenient, quiet, home-like atmosphere. Felt like a welcome guest at a friend's home. Very convenient to Woods Hole/MV Ferry and "the bridge"Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to the factory five car show"
first time bed and breakfast it was nice very interresting the couple that run the place were very nice and very helpfullGenuine Hotels.com guest review
While the hosts were extremely friendly and kind, we found the B&B to be inconveniently far from other things. This was especially the case with respect to finding meals. There's a lovely bike path nearby, but that's about it. The same breakfast was served on 3 consecutive days and it was not the typical eggs and bacon. There were scones and fruit and […] lots of coffee and tea. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had clear directions and accurate maps and they made the stay enjoyable. "Not for us!"
Finding this place wasn`t easy. The location was nice. Quiet suburb. Nice property but we wondered if we had arrived at the right place. No indication that this was a B&B. We then found it difficult to get any response to our knocking on the various doors and finally caught the owner`s attention by knocking on the window. The room was acceptable but […] cluttered. We were dismayed to find this was not ensuite although we had exclusive use of the house bathroom on the landing. Dressing gowns were provided. Breakfast was taken with the owner (whether you liked it or not) and it was disappointing. Best advice given over breakfast was to visit the nearby "The Lobster Trap" where good food can be had at very reasonable cost. This place may be ideal for many but it was far from our ideal B&B. "An unexpected joy."
This is a great place to stay. It is a house - full of character - which is located in idyllic surroundings. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Tom and Rita - the congenial hosts. They are wonderful people and immediately create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This is a real taste of America at its best - embodying all of the politeness and […] friendliness that you could wish for. It did not feel like arriving at a guest house - it felt like arriving at the home of old friends. And, in fact, by the time our stay was over - it did, indeed, feel like leaving old friends. In addition, the location provides an excellent base for exploring Cape Cod. The guest house is easy to find - giving an ideal opportunity to settle and familiarise oneself with the surroundings, before setting out to explore the delights of Cape Cod. However, wherever you visit, it is equally a delight to return to Tom and Rita's warm welcome. Breakfast is spent in their company and Rita home bakes many of the offerings on the very morning that they are served. In short, great place and great people. My advice - don't be afraid to indulge in conversation as, between them, I doubt that there are many subjects that one of them would not be able to cover. And - even if they don't know - they both personify that wonderful American trait of being genuinely interested in learning new things. Wholly recommended. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This is a true B&B"
10/05/14 nighthawk779 Kansas City, Missouri
This was the kind of experience that my wife and I had 40 years ago when we first started traveling. It was just like home down to the fitted sheet and comforter coming off the bed during the night. The hosts were very friendly the breakfast was creative and good. We had a room with a walk out balcony but all you could see was the trees no canal. The only thing that caught my attention was that the TP was in a basket. I have seen other bathrooms and they used a weighted holder. The owner said that after 17 years this would be their last season, so hurry if you want this experience.
"It's like staying with your favorite aunt and uncle"
03/30/14 hr1313 Merrimack, NH
The choices for lodging in Bourne, MA are limited; this was a nice choice if you like staying with your favorite aunt and uncle. The host were wonderful and friendly, the house and room was like you were staying at a relative's home who made it up as nice as they could with their personal items throughout the home(including the room you stayed in). The bed was comfortable for a good night's sleep; breakfast was more on the continental fair. The overall historical home(circa 1885-1895) had a lived in feel. We only stayed overnight but if staying the spring or summer would have liked to know if they had bikes to rent to cruise on the canal path.
"Disappointing, Basic Updates Needed"
08/09/13 Mainers Mainer
This was reasonably priced ($145) for a quick overnight trip to the Bourne area, but the Holly room is in desperate need of updating. It has started to cross line between being quaint and being worn and tired. Not talking about renovating to be sleek & sterile, but the basics – Carpet needs to be replaced - worn, covered with stains & gives off distinct musty smell; Bathroom could use a place to hang a towel (even a small towel rack that would at least hold a single hand towel); Combo fan/light fixture needs a good cleaning; Bathroom door should close (and it was dry and sunny when we were there, so it wasn’t humidity); Closet should be for use of guests, not used as storage space, filled with old vhs and cassette tapes, and an old, discarded pc. Reading lights by bed would be a nice feature, as would a mirror in room (other than one in bath over sink). Owners were away on vacation during our stay, but woman who was managing in their absence was friendly & helpful although not knowledgeable about area. On the plus side: Surfaces of furniture and bathroom were clean, except for carpet WiF was very easy to connect, and stayed connected Power strip on floor provides plenty of outlets for charging stuff Breakfast was wonderful, fresh fruit, homemade banana bread & scones, & sweet bread & muffins for toasting Bed was comfortable Overall would not return due to condition of room, and musty smell. Most, if not all, of the suggested updates could be easily accomplished in a day for very little investment and make a huge improvement (and rid the room of its musty odor).

We chose The Holly House on the strength of the reviews on this site. they were spot on. Our host Tom was friendly and answered every question we had about places to eat and places to go in the area. The room had every amenity and we enjoyed Tom's homemade scones and more at a beautifully appointed Victorian breakfast table. We plan to stay there again and maybe bring our bikes to try out the scenic path which follows alongside the canal. This was really an excellent choice. Thank you, Trip advisor.

Tom made our stay memorable. What a nice man sharing his home with visitors from around the world. We slept well and had an enjoyable and interesting conversation over breakfast with our host. Stay here for a different experience.
"New England hospitality at its best"
10/06/12 blowback Cambridge, United Kingdom
We spent a night here as part of our New England tour, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Holly House is in a residential area, next to the town historical society building, and within walking distance of the canal. Tom is a most genial and garrulous host, within half an hour of arriving we'd covered English and American history, statistics, comparative linguistics, and a comprehensive run-down of which local eateries were worthwhile. The house is a splendid turn of the century structure, I worried slightly about lugging our giant suitcases up their stairs lest I scuff the wallpaper or send nicknacks flying, but eventually we made it to the room which was well appointed, comfortable and clean. Bathroom had a glorious stained glass window, and there was even a deck/balcony area for sitting out of an evening. Breakfast was a sumptuous affair with fruit salad, a giant home made cinnamon cookie, and muffins. Tom is currently experimenting with grinding his own coffee beans, and the preliminary results are very encouraging. We left after breakfast, sated and waved off by Tom, ready to face the day.
"love at first sight!"

We (my boyfriend and I, our best friend couple) stayed here for our first bed and breakfast experience and we loved it. The location was convenient to find, close to restaurants and major highways, etc. The inn is very pretty and romantic, clean and cozy. The owner, Thomas was very friendly, knowledgeable, and has great sense of humor. Also a great cook, his homemade scones are to die for. He has collections of menus of the local restaurants to check out. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is pretty, awesome views to take photos. Definitely staying there again!
"First bed and breakfast experience"
02/05/12 Amy H Bridgewater, MA
My husband was turning 60 and I wanted to do something different for his birthday. Staying at a bed and breakfast was on his "bucket list". We spend a lot of time in the Plymouth area so I thought about that. Then as I was searching the Internet I came upon the Holly House. I loved that we could see the canal from our deck, as it was Febrary and there were no leaves on the trees. We toured around the Falmouth area all day, as we usually stay in the Dennis area of Cape Cod. Tom and Rita gave us good suggestions of where to go for dinner. We went to the Lobster Trap...DELICIOUS! Tom and Rita were wonderful hosts. We felt right at home. The house was quaint and CLEAN! Breakfast was great. Would go there again on a heartbeat!
"DON'T STAY HERE!"

Their cancellation policy is terrible, a week out, less than 24 hours after making the wrong reservation they still charged us. Terrible customer service.
"Quaint Old world charm with attentive hosts"
09/26/10 loflower London, United Kingdom
We stayed here for two nights with another couple in mid september, once the rush of the season had past. The house is a quaint, typical New England home, lots of wooden furniture, books and nik-naks, quilted comforters and a lovely comfortable bed. The hosts, Tom and Rita, did everything they could to make us welcome and sat and chatted with us over breakfast and gave us some good tips for exploring cape cod. I would highly recommend this place for a quiet, chilled break. If you want modern and clinical and posh, I would suggest this place is not for you, but if it's comfortable, relaxed and quaint you're looking for at a reasonable price for the Cape then you won't find much better than this lovely b and b. We booked through Bed and Breakfast Cape Cod who were also really helpful. Thanks for a lovely time!
