Desert Inn Resort & Convention Center - Daytona Beach

Overall our stay here was excellent! Beach was fantastic with a view from the balcony also! We were in walking distance to "The Spot" our favorite place to have snow legs and a beer!

My reservation was made by my assistant while I was on the road. she found the right price point, but the hotel failed the quality test. The hallway carpets were badly stained and soiled; very dark brown soil. They looked like they have never been cleaned. The décor was well worn and is noticeably dated. The staff were friendly but the hotel was not in good shape for the price we paid. We were given a room in the court yard, which I complained because it looked like the slums (busted door jams, holes pieced by small pieces of wood, mold in ceilings and tub) then we were moved to another room upon my complaining of the price I paid for what it looked […] like. My hotel room smelled like mold the ceiling had been patched the sound on the tv didn't work we walked around the hotel and down where the game room was there was a pool table with mild on it and water coming through the roof and it was not raining! Nasty!!! Got chased by a cockroach the size of rhode island! I itched the whole time I was there. We had to move rooms because door looked like it was kicked in. Leaky Roofs. Great indoor pool and outdoor pool. Nice restaurant on sight, alcohol is over priced. Very nice fitness center with sauna and steam room as well. Close to shopping and boardwalk/pier as well as downtown area. We enjoyed our stay, and our planning our next trip. Great spring break stay.

The carpet in the hallway was very dirty on the sixth floor, The very first night stay my husband and I were getting ready for bed, we turned the sheet back only to fine a few dried up spots on the fitted sheet. Paint on walls pealing off, carpet coming up, and the knob on bathtub came off! We was on the7th floor, you had to go to the lobby to get ice (everyone). You had to fight the patio door just to open it!!! At the front desk they have a big sign "No Refunds!". I will never tell anyone we stayed there.

The service was absolutely horrible. The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I get there to check in the front counter worker very rudely says that I need to give a $100 deposit. I ask for what and whether or not I will get it back. She gives a snarky reply but I had no choice to give her the $100 in cash. It had to be cash. This place is a dump. Looks good on the outside, but is poorly maintained. This place is built and maintained for 20 yr olds on spring break as a crash pad, and that's about it. The Desert Inn hotel can be described in one word, and that is "rundown". The customer service staff are rude, and are not very organized. WARNING: I was billed for the hotel within the same day of booking it, so if you think you'll get charged the day of arrival you are mistaken. Secondly, they will inform you of "hotel policies" after you have been […] charged for the room, which includes a $50 security deposit for each room you book, that HAS to be paid in cash. In my case I wasn't informed of the policy until the day of check in. CONDITION OF HOTEL: The hotel itself was very aged. You can tell that it was probably very popular in the 80's/90's but I think after all the years of Spring breaks, the ware of the hotel has definitely taken a toll. The hotel website is NOT an accurate description. On the lower deck of the hotel where the exercise and game room are located is a screeching door that leads to the ping pong table. The area was flooded and had broken caution tape around it. This lead to a narrow walkway to the parking garage. Very, very, scary. Probably haunted. This hotel is fine if you're just looking for a place to sleep or to party, and condition and quality of service is not an issue for you. Read more

The first room they gave us the magnetic key would not work, and the second room they gave us the bathroom was filthy, dead bolt was broken on the door, and there was only one outlet in the room. I was even more insulted when the $50 sercurity deposit I paid (was not aware of this until I arrived-and had to pay in cash) would not be returned until someone […] went to check the room to make sure it was clean.
