I've stayed at fancier hotels, and hotels with better service, but this one stands out in other ways: a Zen aesthetic, consistently implemented on a large scale, make this one-of-a-kind hotel. It is an oasis of calm and beauty in a noisy, frenetic city.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It is out of the main town on a gravel road but once you enter the grounds it is very peaceful. Pool is one of the best we have encounted. They do not change the bedding daily as we desired but that was easily solved.

First of all this is a beautiful hotel. The setting and layout are exceptional. It consists of a series of two story villas built in a jungle setting of beautiful trees, plants, flowers and ponds. The swimming pool is large and inviting. The villa rooms (more like suites) are huge with very comfortable beds and a sitting area in front of the huge doors […] that lead out to a large veranda. The all marble bathroom is also huge with separated bathtub and shower arrangements. I had an upstairs room and would recommend this since it is more airy with a cathedral ceiling built in traditional Vietnamese style with teak beams and clay tiles. The included buffet breakfast had selections for everyone from scrambled eggs and sausage to sushi to traditional Vietnamese Pho (beef noodle soup)...yes, for breakfast! The service was also excellent: everyone very friendly. My only criticism was that the pool staff was reluctant to turn on the wonderful waterfall and bird fountains at the swimming pool which add so much. If you get after them they will do it however. This hotel was fantastic. The only gripe we have is that the bathroom sink leaked through the cabinetry and onto the floor when it was used. Speaking of the bathroom, it was the size of a small house, with an amazing pebble-floored shower next to the bathtub and it just looked amazing. We stayed in a bungalow (free upgrade from villa) and the attention […] to detail was amazing. Small flowers were carefully placed throughout the room and we had a fresh fruit bowl upon welcome. The bungalow itself was spacious with a 4-post king bed and mosquito net, a couch and small table to eat / sit at to watch tv, a desk, fridge, porch and a few other amenities including a kettle. The staff were courteous and all greeted us as they or we walked past. When we checked out, I opened the bungalow door to find the concierge waiting with a trolley to take the luggage (I hadn't informed them that I was leaving, but the driver who had come to take us to the airport had arrived, so they automatically sent someone to help with the luggage). Great hotel. They have a free shuttle running many times during the day so its location just outside of town is not an issue at all. Facilities are superb and the swimming pool extremely nice. Staff is quite friendly too. You can borrow DVD movies and play pool too.

A true SLH-group member. Fine decor and design in a stunning green and lush setting only 5 minutes from the old city of Hue with all the facilities you need and don't need. With it's location on the outskirts of Hue it is a 5 min ride to downtown, but the hotel is actually very conveniently located to the "imperial tombs". And taxi's in 'Nam aren't […] exactly pricey anyway. 2 weak points; Service could be more attentive as the poolbar was often unattended. Furthermore; arranging a motorbike-for-rent was too much to ask from the the reception staff. Another -small- disappointment was the extreme (high) temperature of the pool. This is truly a wonderful place to chill out. When we arrived we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a honeymoon suite. The room was outstanding, The only small concern was the bedding was way to hard and the pillows did match the king size bed. The pool is amazing and so was the service. The moment we stepped over the threshold, we could feel ourselves relax. The resort grounds are exquisitely designed and so tranquil that we found it difficult to tear ourselves away from it to actually go and see some of Hue! A gobsmackingly beautiful beautiful place that we go for an amazing deal through expedia. Rooms were incredible and very comfortable the only problem we had was, with the very high ceiling we struggled to get them cool enough. (To be fair it was exceptionally hot while we were there) Initially, in our first room the air con had broken down and so we […] were offered another room which we accepted. Staff moved our gear during dinner and after dinner we found that the new room was actually a down grade. At the time we were tired having come on the sleeper train from HCMcity and we just wanted to settle in & didn't want to change again. I know we still got a great deal and the new room was absolutely fine and still very beautiful but it was disappointing to be down graded, especially as this had not explained to us and the hotel was pretty empty during our stay. Everyone was very nice at this resort and it was what I expected as far as location, rooms and spa. Breakfast was great. Dinner was horrible. The food lacked flavor and was overpriced. It is better to go into town for dinner and enjoy your free breakfast buffet at the resort. When you arrive you'll be given a free voucher for a drink at the slope bar […] and you will be very disappointed when you get there. The lounge is beautiful but the "free drink" consists of water, lemonade, and tea. You can see the look on all the customer's faces when they see that they have been tricked. We bought a cocktail anyway, but decided to never come back there again. We don't mind paying for a dink but telling your guests that you will receive a free drink at the bar then offering water, tea, and lemonade seemed like a scam and for a high end resort, that lacked integrity. The place is a very good resort about 5 km from Hue centre. The area is rural Vietnam. I got an upgrade to a honey villa which was enormous. The others ordinary villlas also looked very good, but are in a 2 storey building, 2 to a floor. The bathroom was 8m x 3, with a large bath, however allthough there was hot water, not enougfh to fill thee bath.There […] is a free bus shuttle and a taxi $4 to 6.Expect to pay 5 star hotel prices for evrything, beer, laundry etc, beer $4, taxi from airport $25, spa $60/hour.The included breakfast was excellent wiyh a good variety of choices. I did not have a meal in the main resturant. The staff were very good but could not easily sort out a private car to take me to see some of the sights and on to Hoi An. In the end they quoted $120 for a taxi. I got a car on the internet from vietnamdrive@yahoo.com for $65,but they charged me $0.5 for the two phone calls they made at the front desk when they were talking to the man at the hire car place where the hotel was.. The place is very convenient for taking a bike to see the main tombs, but make sure you get a good map from them. Allthough they had wifi, I did have connection problems Allthough I did not use the swimming pools they looked very clean.. This has to be one of the most beautiful hotels to stay in. From the moment you enter the gateway you know you are in for a special treat. Check-in was fast and friendly. We arrived 3 hours before check-in time and they had a room ready for us within 15 mins. They also upgraded us to a Honeymoon Bungalow as we were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. […] Wow, it was absolutely gorgeous overlooking a lily pond with no one around. Although the hotel was a little away from the city centre and the free shuttle bus did not drop one off near the citadel, the gorgeous accommodations and the efficient but courteous staff more than made up for the not central location. This was probably the most beautiful hotel my husband and I had ever stayed in. It consists of individual bungalows and small 2-3 storey blocks of rooms dotted around a hillside with a pool at the bottom surrounded by lovely gardens and lotus ponds. Although we had booked a room we were upgraded to a bungalow which was enormous (I have stayed in hotel […] rooms smaller than its bathroom), attractively furnished with a giant bed, a balcony and all mod cons. The Spa and restaurant were relatively expensive (compared to the price paid for the room) but both were excellent - the spa in particular was blissful and the free yoga class was excellent. The breakfast buffet was also fabulous with probably the best danish pastries I have ever eaten. The hotel is a few km out of Hue but worth it for the space and peace and quiet. The hotel runs a regular shuttle or it only cost $5 in a taxi to get in and out. Read more

Beautifully executed hotel with attention to detail at every opportunity, very courteous and helpful staff, beautiful resort. Not a single criticism. The only thing to say is the hotel is a 10min drive from Hue but the hotel runs courtesy shuttles to the centre frequently and the service runs smoothly - didn't detract from the stay at all.

We had an amazing stay here and just fell in love with the place even though it rained every day while we were there, I think staying at the Pilgrimage made the difference and brightened our spirits. The staff were so attentive and helpful, the room was just amazing and the whole setting idyllic - I can imagine in nicer weather it would just been perfect. […] The pool looked lovely and very inviting even in the rain! We had 3 perfectly relaxing days at the Pilgrimage hotel. We got upgraded to pool hut upon arriwal, wich was a very nice surprise. The pool huts are beautiful, as is the whole resort, and absolutely huge. It was very nice to have a private pool to cool down in. The other pools are also beautiful, with a nice pool bar. The staff is really nice and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Everything is very quiet and tranquil. After travelling around northern Vietnam for a while, we looking for somewhere where we could just sit back and relax. Pilgrimage Village did not disappoint. We found the hotel by chance on the internet as it did not appear in any of our guide books but after reading rave reviews about the place we decided to go ahead and book it. We were so glad we […] did! The price was very reasonable for a 5 star hotel - we were on a bit of a budget but the hotel was easily affordable. The only downside was the prices in resort as these were all in dollars and were quite pricey. OK for the odd day or so but not if you're planning on staying longer. The resort was situated about a 10 minute drive away from Hue but the hotel had a shuttle service and taxis were pretty cheap. We really liked the fact that the hotel was out of the way a bit as it was a lovely place to come back and relax in after a hot and sweaty day out sightseeing. The pool was huge and very lovely - good sun loungers and parasols available and there was also a smaller pool in a different part of the resort. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in pilgrimage village. It was the perfect place to stop and recharge the batteries for a few days before heading on to further travels and we would heartily recommend it to others. Read more
