"Didn't enjoy our stay"
Though charming from the outside, we weren't impressed with our room (oak room) We have stayed at a couple of inns and B&Bs in New England now, and this room was much too austere for our taste: sparsely furnished with a glaring ceiling lamp. I guess what you pay is what you get, though we got the impression most rooms were furnished like ours.Though […] the room was littered with notes wishing us a pleasant stay and encouraging us to ask anything we needed from reception, when we asked for a second bedside reading lamp, we were bluntly told no. There was also only one night stand, and no real place to sit because of two sloping ceilings. The bathroom was across the hall (private) which is not very convenient. As another reviewer mentioned, there was some mold and rust, otherwise it was clean and comfortable enough. Breakfast was alright; some fresh pastry and fruit and cereal, more like a hotel chain breakfast rather than a B&B's. The real upside of this inn was its location: halfway cape cod and next to the national park visitor centre.
"A charming inn close to amazing beaches!"

This is my third stay at the Inn and once again everything was absolutely lovely. I teach a photo workshop from the Inn each fall and we use the Inn as home base. The staff is always helpful and accommodating - with a smile! - the breakfast is plentiful and delicious and the afternoon cookies are incredible and give those of us who are up before sunrise a nice sugar boost to go out to shoot the sunset! The beach and lighthouse locations we shoot are a short drive away, which makes it easy to get there before the incredible light begins. My first stay here was with my boyfriend and we also found it to be quiet and romantic.Especially the fireplace in the living room on a chilly evening. We didn't get to use the fire pit this year, but another basket of graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows will be waiting there for the next visit I'm sure!

Inn at the Oaks was an excellent value and a beautiful place to spend a couple of days over Labor Day Weekend! We had a late checkin at a motel down the road, and we arrived to find 1970's decor and stains on the sheets. Yikes! At 11:00 we called Inn at the Oaks and they just happened to have a vacancy. After checking us in they led us up to an amazing room and my wife thought she had died and gone to heaven. The continental breakfast was great, we enjoyed the firepit, and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. We would definitely choose Inn at the Oaks again.

We were traveling with our dogs and were located in the Garden room, located at the back of the inn with its own entrance and porch. This was great for us and our girls. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and the service was great. For a first time stay on the Cape I would highly recommend staying at the Inn at the Oaks.

This is the third time to Inn at the Oaks. The crew is marvelous; always helpful with restaurant and sightseeing suggestions. They are always making small improvements and the grounds are well maintained. Small touches like the afternoon cookies and lemonade are appreciated.

Summary: rude service, average breakfast, great location. Let me emphasize the fact that service is little more than a minor consideration for me in selecting a place to stay. I would prefer to stay somewhere nice and clean with a great location and good value; however, I cannot remember a time where service detracted more from a hotel/inn/B&B experience than when I stayed here. My girlfriend and I are in our mid 20's and were treated like children. Maybe if you are over the age of 40 you will be treated with some respect. There is no chance we will return. Below is a copy of a note written to the innkeeper: "My girlfriend and I came up to the Cape from NYC for two nights over the July 4th holiday. We stayed in the Oak room and were happy with the room, the inn itself, and the breakfasts. We were also pleased with the proximity to our favorite beaches and towns, so we were hopeful of returning to your inn (particularly since you are pet friendly) some time in the near future. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with how we were treated by some of your staff. The woman who checked us in on Saturday was particularly rude, including: insinuating that I was trying to short change her out of $1 on bug spray we purchased from your gift shop, and aggressively telling/yelling at me that the ice I had already once used for our cooler was for "all the guests and not for coolers" and that I could drive over to a nearby store to buy ice. Also, on the day that we were checking out, we asked for a late checkout, which was accommodated by a different woman behind the desk. We had planned to go to the beach in the morning before returning for showers and driving back to NYC. However, we returned slightly later than anticipated and found that the water had been turned off. When I asked if there was anything that could be done, such as temporarily restoring the water, I was received a very scolding "No," followed by: "I told you checkout would be 11:30." I am not the type to become easily annoyed with poor service, but this was a special case and it was even more aggravating to my girlfriend. It seems as though your staff does not realize that they work in the service/hospitality industry. Needless to say, given the great selection of inns and B&B's on the Cape, we will not be returning. Now I see why it was so easy to find a room at your inn with such short notice." We were told that an issue arose with the plumbing that needed attention, thus the reason for turning off the water; however, the manner in which it was handled by the staff/innkeeper was ridiculous. After sending the above note to the innkeeper, we were offered a $50 credit towards a future stay. I suggested that the credit be applied to my recent stay and never received a response. You could not pay me to return.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Inn at the Oaks for 2 nights in August and had a great experience! The Willow Room was perfect for us, but we noticed that other rooms on the top floor had rather low ceilings, which would have been a problem for my fiancé who is very tall. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and supplied us with everything we needed to enjoy the Cape including beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels. Although Eastham doesn't have a downtown area to walk around, the location of the inn was a great jumping off point to many of the towns on the Cape. The breakfast was good, but not spectacular. The property and grounds were great and although we never took advantage of it, there was a great fire pit on site with smores ingredients available in the kitchen. Would definitely recommend Inn at the Oaks to other couples and adults! If you are traveling with your family, I suggest booking the carriage house for more space and privacy.
"Great stay on the Cape"

My boyfriend and I drove in from New York City and had a warm welcome from the staff at the inn. We were given a quick tour and were happy to hear that you pretty much have the run of the house. Everything is provided for you, from a fire pit, to cozy living rooms to relax in. We stayed in the Overlook room, we were warned it was small, but really not bad at all. I guess we're used to tight quarters, because it felt pretty standard to us! Very well lit, and a nice skylight. The grounds were charming, several spots for your morning cup of coffee! Ive been to the cape many times, and I have to say that Eastham is a perfect location. Your far enough in, but not all the way out. Plenty of beach options, Drive in, mini golf, and places to eat. Driving to Main street in wellfleet, and the piers takes no time at all, and a great place to check out after taking the drive out to P-town. We were impressed by how much privacy we had at the inn, given its size. Though pretty much full, we didnt bump into too many other visitors, and had the fire pit to ourselves on Saturday night. Bathroom was across the hall, which wasnt a big deal. I'd say maybe bring a bathrobe to make it a little easier and comfortable, though we didnt run into anyone in the hall after a shower.
"A very roomy and comfortable B&B with spacious grounds"
08/31/14 Mark R Boston, Massachusetts
Good B&B rooms, clean all over, good maid service, staff to help with everything, no problem with breakfast that had good variety for a B&B and brings a solid value for this stay in the heart of the best part of the Cape. Having breakfast helps to get on with day very fast Vs. going out for a meal. What really stands out here are all the seating options to eat breakfast or to sit around the house. Some B&Bs we have stayed in have one or a few common rooms and you are forced to eat breakfast with others at one table. I will try to list all the tables here as well as special touches: Complimentary Smore kit with all the makings!!! fire pit with chairs and cut wood at the ready, inside fire place as well, Cold and hot water bubbler, herb teas at will, common refrigerator if needed, good sized grounds and large private yard area for dogs and guest ( you wouldn't know doggies are even there if not a fan), good guest parking, directly across route 6 from Coast Guard Beach/NSS entrance. Here goes the table options: 2 tables for 2 in living room, main table for 8-10, smaller breakfast nook table for 5-6, outside patio table for 6, back porch 2 rockers for coffee, fit pit with big chairs, back library room large table for 6. I call attention to this as this is unique for a B&B to have so many places to eat or hang out in and feel comfortable doing so without having a zillion guest rooms. There is also a small parlor style room by the front door with a common laptop for use and literature for things to do in the area. (couples, family, friends, solo: TA won't let you select more than one but all apply here)
"Great Place to Stay!"
08/26/14 Michael K Boston, Massachusetts
A great inn for a weekend stay on the Cape. I went with my girlfriend in August and it was a perfect location for us, close to bike rentals, the drive-in, restaurants, and the beaches (super close to Coast Guard, Nauset Light, Salt Pond Visitor Center - not walking distance but a 3 min drive). The Inn itself provides a breakfast - nothing special here though, typical continental breakfast stuff: bagels, scones, fruit, cereal, coffee, etc. Don't get me wrong though - it was a perfectly fine breakfast. Staff was SUPER friendly, checked us in immediately and gave us a tour of the property. HMMMM what else...there's brochures and guides available...board games available...a nice patio on the 2nd floor...pets are OK which would be cool if we had a dog...I wouldn't recommend this for kids, its better for couples or just adults
"Overall great experience"
The building and grounds are gorgeous. The breakfast was varied. There were even complementary cookies and lemonade in the afternoon and snores materials for the fire pit. The bed was a bit stiff for my taste but the accommodations were great. Unfortunately, the bathroom did have an ant problem. Upon checkout, we learned we were not the first to mention it. Once that's addressed, the place will be perfect.
