The Hotel was great, however I like air-conditioning and they don't have it. On the other hand we went the best time in April so it's not really hot. They did have fans and that made it great!! I don't know how it would be in the summer months. I guess I would look for a hotel with air but other than that the hotel was great!!!

Lovely room, the building is old and rich with art deco details. Close to The Dam without being in the middle of it... a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes walk from all of the excitement.... A wonderful hotel!

Convenient and impressive hotel, however I have stayed in better hotels with the same 5* rating. It claims a 5* rating but feels more like a 4* - great value if you get a deal but not sure it would be worth full price. Linens and robes had seen better days. Had to ask concierge to send up house-keeping to change my bedding upon arrival as there were […] black hairs and some stained sheets. To their credit, they resolved the problem immediately. Awesome free mini-bar and free wi-fi. Good range of TV channels. Great bar tender and drinks, although not very ambient in bar. Spa clean and accessible with a small pool. How unique, an hotel in a former office building! From walking up the marble steps, through the marvelous revolving door, to reception where one sits, to the most polite & caring staff in the hotel business . Everyone we met on the hotel staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. My new "home away from home" in Amsterdam.

This is my favorite place to stay in Amsterdam, Very convenient to Central Station. The amenities including free minibar setup helps offset the high cost of these spacious, well-accomodated rooms. The building itself is historical. I will definitely return again.

The building itself is beautiful but the service was far from acceptable for a five star hotel. We had numerous problems with housekeeping as well as unsatisfactory assistance from management when dealing with said problems. I really wanted to like this hotel but until they send their entire staff for hospitality training, I won't be back.

This was my third stay at the Amrath. The hotel was completely booked. When I left my room on three occasions, I called reception to have the room made up, and on each occasion, they did not do it. The lack of a real entrance to the hotel is a little off putting. There was no working remote control to the tv in our room and it took us a day to resolve that issue. The room was large but quite dark. The lighting is poor. The staff was quite friendly and helpful.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff were all very friendly. Our room had a great view overlooking a canal and the city. The room was quiet and had little street noise, even with the window open. It is within easy walking distance from the train station and the dam square area.

The Hotel Amrath is in a great location near central station and the city center / Newmarket area. The hotel was once the Scheepvaarthuis [shipping house] built in 1917. The whole building is decorated with a nautical theme celebrating the city's marine connections. Due to the historic nature of the building there were many limitations when the building […] was converted to a hotel. This is not the typical 5 star hotel. The lobby is small, the layout is unusual for a luxury hotel but the beauty and charm of the building more than make up for the small inconveniences. The staff and services provided are excellent.
