Fascinating how they have converted this old building, it was done very well, keeping the feel of history. Room was luxurious, well stocked with complimentary bar and coffee facilities. Oddly the bed faced the window and the tv was on the side so hard for us both to wtach. Beautiful bathroom, would have been perfect but teh shower drain smelt. It was quickley rectified by cleaners. Spa was really lovely, nice and reasonable introductory massage offer. They messed up the bookings so one of us had to wait ages and you can't go nude in the sauna or spa, but otherwise just what we needed. Supper in the bar was very nice. Afternoon drinks disappointing, no tea pot, just a small cup they refused to refill with hot water, very tight for a top quality hotel. No scones! Staff polite and efficient but never smiled and we felt rushed through at breakfast despite the delicious spread we wanted to browse.Overall a very good hotel and we would stay again, but some small details need to be improved first otherwise we won't take advantage of their services and always eat / drink out.

The Amrath hotel was the best hotel we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed n a lot of hotels. I would recommend it to anyone! Although it is a bit pricey, we got it for a bargain price, and upon our arrival, were upgraded to a superior room- WOW! Electric curtains which opened at the push of a remote, big high ceilings, bathroom bigger than ours at home with the deepest bath ever and shower cubicle (with 2 shower heads!). Big comfy dressing gowns and slippers are also provided for your convenience, as well as a massive umbrella for the showers Amsterdam are prone to. And best of all- a FREE minibar, which is topped up daily! not to mention a FREE coffee machine with different types of coffee! The staff are really friendly go out of their way to talk to you and help any way they can. The wellness centre downstairs is also free of charge. In there, you will find a fully equiped gym, beautiful tranquil swimming pool, 3 saunas and a steam room. 10/10 for everything, I can't rate it enough. We will definitely be staying here next time we visit Amsterdam.

We had and amazing weekend in Amsterdam and part of it was due to the luxurious hotel. The room was very spacious, well equipped with flat screen TV, coffee maker that actually produced great tasting coffee, free minibar generously filled up with different drinks. The king-size bed was extremely comfortable so as the bathroom with luxurious toiletries. Everything was super clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is also great, only a few minutes away from the station and close to the center. There was only one disappointment - the view. We did not ask for a city view (you may for an extra charge) and therefore could not complain. However, this did not spoil our experience and I would definitely recommend the hotel to those who want luxury for a reasonable price. To add, we also dined in the restaurant and the food was delicious! Should I return to Amsterdam in the future I will definitely go back to Amrath.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Grand Amrath. The hotel has only been open for 2 years and this time the SPA was also open which was great - just be careful of the jet stream button in the pool - you have been warned! We didn't eat in the hotel, the restaurant is highly rated but always seems a little empty and short on atmosphere. The bar is pleasant and the Irish coffee's have to be the best in town - when they have fresh cream available that is - they did run out one night. Breakfast is very expensive at ?25pp pn so we didn't try that either. There are loads of Cafe's nearby so it's not a problem. What we really like about the hotel is the quality of the rooms, with very high ceillings, wonderful beds and superb bathrooms. The in-room espresso machine, free mini bar with toblerone and widescreen tv also go some way to making your stay more comfortable. It's in a great location too, a pleasant 5 mins walk to the very centre of Amsterdam. You could do a lot worse than book this hotel - I know from experience, which is why this is where I'll stay every time.

Had a good experience of this hotel. Room was upgraded because swimming pool was closed becasue of a leak. Room was good size, shower fab, bed extremely comfortable, free mini bar with wines, spirits, beer, water and soft drinks. Staff were friendly and very helpfully opened a bottle of sparkly that we had brought in ourselves. You can see Central Station from the hotel - it only took 6 or 7 mins to walk there. So easy to get to from the airport, just use the train from Schipol - only 4 ish euros each. Check in could be slow if there were a few people arriving at the same time as there is only a tiny check in desk with 2 people working it, but it was fine when we were there. Didn't eat or drink in the hotel, so can't comment on that, but with the centre of Amsterdam just 10 mins away we didn't want to stay in the hotel. Cost of hotel was a bit pricey, but for a special occasion it was worth it and I would definately go back.

' Never in all my travels have I heard this from a five star hotel. The first night I had to have a put you up and the next day we were moved to a room with a king size bed that seperated, yet the staff were too lazy to do this for us. We were told that the room was ready, yet I had to inform them that the minibar had not been re-stocked, there was no letter paper and one sachet of milk and two sugars. I had asked the duty manager to contact me which he did not or even send me a note for our inconvieniance. I am sending a letter to the President of this group and will let you know of the review. Also for two days, no water or fresh towels were available in the Health suite and quite a few guests had to ring for them. Not the 5 star I expect.
