"Very nice.... Close to everything!"
Loved the lobster picnic lunch! Beautiful scenery! Very romantic!Genuine Expedia guest review
We were in the Florida room, which is relatively small but comfortable. The mattress was fine and the linens were first-rate.Breakfast was delightful, and, since you sat with other guests at a large table, interesting conversations and exchanges of places to visit. Free on-site parking was a real plus ( even necessary) in that town. Minutes walk to […] the center of Kennebunkport. The finest B'B we have ever experienced in terms of value, beauty, and hospitality. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A place that understands that "it's the little things" - there are too many examples to list. The big things are great too. If you want a B&B in Kennebunkport, look no further.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great B & B"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Captain Jefferds Inn - it was the best B & B that we have ever stayed in. The staff were GREAT and the Breakfast was fantastic. Looking forward to our next visit in the Fall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exactly What You Want From A B&B"
1. Great location — easy walk to the shops and restaurants of downtown Kennebunkport. 2. Great building — a wonderfully restored antique home transformed into a spotlessly clean and tremendously comfortable B&B environment. 3. Excellent service — everyone we encountered from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out was friendly, welcoming […] and upbeat without being intrusive. Add it all up? And you've got the formula for an extremely successful B&B experience. Good stuff, all the way around. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perhaps the most perfect B&B ever..."
What a great find- Eric and Sarah, the innkeepers, have mastered the art of hospitality. It is not easy to combine perfect service and beautiful decor with genuine warmth, but they pull it off wonderfully. Their attention to detail is evident in many ways- the perfection of the breakfast popovers, the selection of a dozen or more loose teas, the wood […] fire in the living room, the luxurious 600-count sheets... everything was simply perfect, yet also warm and inviting. We'll be back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent all around"
This is a wonderful place in every way -- from the sumptuous and accommodating breakfasts (celiacs take note!) to the gracious living and sleeping arrangements. The staff is low key,yet very friendly and helpful. Just the right recipe for a get-away in any season.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

""A very special place""
I can't even put into words how amazing this Inn was. The house is beautiful. Simple elegance but so very warm and welcoming. I'm not accustomed to luxury and have never been at ease in situations with it but this Inn is so open and welcoming that it's almost like being at grandma's house. The staff go out of their way to make it a truly memorable experience […] regardless if it is your first time there or your 5th time. There was actually another couple we met that they were on their 4th or 5th visit; and they said every time they come somehow it gets better and better. We are already planning on going back in just as little as 2 months for a weekend away. I will never stay at a Hotel again. You just can't find somewhere that could hold a candle in comparison to this Inn. Please, please, please! If you are looking for an Inn, regardless of the reason you are traveling, give this place a chance because I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Oh, did I mention the food? 3 course breakfast that I would take over any 4 or 5 start restaurant. As for location, it is literally with in walking distance from the local shops in town. "Great Hotel for Couples"
The Captain Jefferds Inn B&B is beautiful both inside and out, every little detail is thought about, the rooms and lovely, the bathrooms have everything you would expect. There is wireless Internet which works very well. Breakfast is out of this world. I cannot find a single reason why this would not be the best place you would ever stay at.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Top notch Bed and Breakfast"
This was really a particularly excellent B&B, and we have stayed in hundreds over the years. This is a high-end standard, very friendly service, very excellent gourmet breakfast, excellent coffee, homemade cookies, beautiful old house, kept very clean. The owners are very personable and clearly enjoy what they are doing. The rooms are gorgeous, very […] high spec, gas fires, very tasteful. We were very impressed, and we are hard to impress! Room Tip: Pay the extra for one of the upper rooms which have gas fires in the bathrooms, very romantic baths and showers! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Our much needed, romantic getaway weekend to Kennebunkport started with arriving at another inn, which we had booked months in advance, only to be told they mixed up our dates and booked us for a month later. Fortunately for us, that inn was full and sent us to the Captain Jefferds Inn. I am so thankful that a mistake brought us to The Captain Jefferds. I cannot say enough good things about our stay there. Upon arrival, it was late, and we were tired, hungry, and frustrated. From the minute we stepped through the doors, the staff (and other guests) went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable (Thank You Amily and Ann-Marie). We stayed in the Baxter room our first night and moved to the Chatham room our second night because the Baxter was already booked. Sarah took the time to sit and chat with us and ensure we were properly welcomed and Eric took us on a tour after most of the other guests had checked out on Sunday. All of the rooms are lovely to say the very least. I'd be happy staying in any of them. The house is absolutely beautiful and there has been incredible attention to detail in its renovation and maintenance. The snacks and coffee/tea/cider in the sunroom were a great touch. The breakfasts were wonderful--we were included in their family-style breakfast even even after showing up at the last minute. Sarah, Eric, and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and truly made us feel like part of the family. We are eager to return, and are also planning to book a weekend there for my parents as a birthday getaway.
"Amazing place !"

This was our 5th stay at this wonderful inn, we came to celebrate our anniversary and had such a relaxing weekend, we really hated to leave...the staff here is I so great, you really feel like family and it feels like you have come home when you walk in the door. Eric and Sarah are amazing inn keepers, they and their staff will help you set up your stay and your weekend plans before you arrive.....my wife and I had a sleigh ride at rocking horse stables in the morning, a couples massage at cottage breeze spa in the afternoon, and a wonderful dinner at one dock.....all the reservations made ahead of time by Sarah's assistant, Rachel . We spent a lot of time by the fireplace, reading a good book and enjoying the peace and quiet. If you want to reconnect with your spouse, spend a weekend here.....you will be sure to rekindle your romance.

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and were warmly greeted and given an upgrade to the master suite upon checking in. They were incredibly kind, the service was wonderful and the property itself is stunning.
"Relaxing, friendly environment with amazing food and snacks!"
Eric and Sarah are amazing inn owners! The inn is spectacular and the rooms are all updated and gorgeous! I love coming here to relax and the staff is so accommodating with all your needs. The breakfasts are to die for and there are always delicious cookies! I make it a point to come here once a year and recommend it to everyone staying in the area. Hands down the best inn I've ever stayed at.
"Absolutely charming, elegant and immaculate"
01/19/14 23Diane711 North Smithfield, Rhode Island
This was our first time staying at a B&B. This inn is so charming and elegant and the innkeepers are very friendly and welcoming. All three of the common areas are beautifully appointed with period furniture and elegant oriental rugs. We especially enjoyed the "solarium", a beautiful sitting room with windows on three sides...so bright and inviting. It snowed the weekend we were there, which added a special ambiance while sitting there enjoying a bottle of wine with friends. This room is where you will find complimentary tea, coffee, hot mulled cider, cookies and snacks....truly charming!! The dining room is exquisite and here you will enjoy a wonderful gourmet breakfast each morning. There is also a living room with love seats in front of a wonderful fireplace and a piano if you fancy playing a tune. The guest rooms are very cozy and comfortable, each with a special charm. The bed was very comfortable and the linens very elegant. I must stress that the Inn is immaculately maintained in every area. It is within walking distance of some lovely specialty shops and wonderful restaurants. We already booked again for a future stay.

I figured I'd splurge and stay here with my fiance last July. I'm so glad I did. We both loved it. Upon arrival, we were shown around the inn by one of the extremely friendly staff. The place immediately felt homey yet fancy. It had a bit of an antique and authentically Maine feel without it being at all stuffy or musty. They have really done a great job turning this old building into a wonderful bed and breakfast. They have a beautiful sunroom with complementary cookies and tea along with menus and other helpful references to practically all the other local restaurants and attractions. They are happy to give out parking passes to the nearby beaches and they have bikes you can borrow as well. The gardens were also beautiful--looks like a great place to relax--wish we'd had time to enjoy it more. We stayed in the Katahdin Room, which is on the third floor. The room was small but very clean and pleasant with tons of decoration details. The bathroom was tiny but still very nice. My only minor disappointment was the clunky loud AC window unit (but at least there actually was AC, unlike some of the other places around). In the morning we sat at the large dining room table with maybe 8 other people and had a delicious breakfast. It started with a poached pear, then a tasty muffin, then a piece of quiche. Portions were fairly small but it was all very well done. The location is great too. It is right next to the shops in Kennebunkport and is within walking distance to the Colony Beach and to Walker's Point which is definitely one the most scenic walks in the entire area. Our biggest regret is that we only stayed here one night. Months later, my fiance is still talking about it. We will absolutely be back here on a future visit.
"Rating Needs Another Green Dot!"

If you want to feel "at home" in spectacular setting with a welcoming staff, this is the place. I could not find any little detail that had been missed or cheapened. At our gourmet breakfast this morning I mentioned tha the owners could give lessons on B&B hospitality... I guess what... they do!! We both felt we were staying at the family house ( grandma's home) with all our cousins the week after Christmas!! THE FIRST INN WE HAVE EVER STAYED AN EXTRA NIGHT!!
"Our dog was treated even better than us in this upscale inn!"
01/12/14 Aileyfan Stamford, Connecticut
Absolutely perfectly appointed inn circa early 1800's. Big comfy beds, delicious 3 course breakfast, walk to shops, water. And this dog friendly place had bowls & towels & a personalized dog biscuit. It is impossible to improve. We are definitely coming back this summer.
"Magic Stay in Winterwonderland"
01/05/14 309Gert38 Hanover, New Hampshire
We arrived on New Year's Eve. The service was exceptional, very personal and friendly. The room was cozy, but we also spent a lot of time in the public spaces, on the porch and in the living room with a roaring fire in the fireplace. Breakfast was outstanding. The Inn is within walking distance of some great restaurants, and during a snowstorm one night we had the town all to ourselves.

From the moment I walked in the immaculate mansion I was downright impressed. Everything in this lovely appointed inn has been meticulously thought out through and through by the owners. The guest rooms and public rooms are beautifully furnished. The walls throughout have been painted with subtle faux finishes in a very tasteful and classic manner. I visited the inn with my small dog and checked into the New Hampshire suite located in the carriage house (which is at the rear of the mansion). I was able to park my car right in front of the carriage house for easy access. To reach the suite, I climbed a small exterior staircase and entered a lovely screened in summer porch. The New Hampshire and Vermont suite entrances open from inside the porch. (The porch has a seating area and a refrigerator). Upon opening my door, I stepped into a sitting room with a flat screen TV on left, reading chair on right and a twin bed for lounging or to use if you have an extra person. On the bed was a a homemade locally baked dog biscuit and a stack if towels specifically for Fido (excellent idea...towels for the dog...I haven't seen this anywhere else). There was a Kuerig machine and small cocktail bar/buffet. I stepped from the sitting room into a little hallway where I discovered two dog bowls to the right and to the left wad the bathroom with a corner shower (good size) plush, high quality bath towels, fine soap and gel. Stepping into the bedroom, the canopy bed is the focal point, and lovely. The bed was outfitted in high thread count linens, down comforter, coordinating extra blanket, and high quality pillows. I immediately went back to the towels provided for Fido and spread them across the duvet. I did the same with the loveseat since my small dog does like to rest on furniture. The grounds are equally as beautiful with an English-style garden near the patio, and blooming flowers along the front and side entrances to the inn as well as on the green. Breakfast was delicious. Two seating times were offered. (you might want to walk done 10 minutes before to choose where you would like to sit) We walked in 3 minutes before and everyone was already seated. I felt like we were late even though we weren't. I guess guests like to score their seats well before. It worked out for us anyway, because we like to be private and the only seats left that were available was a cozy table just for two by the window, and that is what we would have chosen anyway. In the middle of the dining room is a long dining table accommodating 10 people. And this is where everyone planted themselves well in advance. So if you want to chit chat with the other guests this is where you will want to sit. There is another table that seats four people. There was a mix of guests at the dining table: retired English couple, two retired American couples, a southern couple around 50, etc. The abundant breakfast was delicious: homemade scones, frittatas, freshly squeezed juice, full-bodied coffee, etc. I wish I could have stayed one more night. I would suggest 3 nights.
