"Hidden Gem - Stay Here!"
This place is AWESOME! We were camping in Burlington and couldn't take another night of rain. This fit our budget and was a town we wanted to check out while in the area. Stowe is great - get out and see it. BUT, come back to the Inn and have a drink in the restaurant. There was amazing music by the Blue Fox (old blues/folk solo guitar) and the food […] was KILLER. Expensive, but really good. We stayed in the rooms across the parking lot from the Inn and it was great - the room was huge and the bathroom was basically brand new. No air conditioning, but the windows opened and it wasn't too hot during our stay. Continental breakfast is $5, so we headed to a local coffee shop to grab something for the drive (we wanted to check it out, anyway). The staff was great and we would say here again and again. "more affordable room in middle of Stowe"
Room was in the carriage house, which was clean and didn't smell musty, which is a problem for me due to severe allergies. A good basic room for a one night stay.Bathroom a little tight but adequate. Desk staff friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and we hope you can stay with us again. We do have larger rooms in our main inn that may better suit you.
rooms were clean and dry and the beds were comfy. could have used an extra towel rack/counter in the sink area. unfortunately, connection to Wi-Fi didn't work. asked for specialty teas @ breakfast but it wasn't available. nor did I feel comfortable that my dog was with me; I already paid $30 to be able to bring him with me - thanks very much for allowing […] us to do that. lots to visit in the area. loved the covered bridge! thanks Hotels.com for the great rates!! Response by The Stowe Inn Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We apologize that you felt uncomfortable with your dog. We wouldn't be pet friendly if we didn't like dogs ourselves, hope you can stay with us again.
Great location. Plenty of charm with a nice sophistication about it. Service was excellent, frirn cly and helpful. Beds were quite comfy. They need more plush pillows and to update the bathrooms. Would definitely go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"NO AC, screens, or vents- worst hotel experience"
The rooms in the Inn might be OK, but do NOT let them place you in the rear of the carriage house. 85 degrees, no ac, no screens in windows, not even a vent in the bathroom. Air tight, like a prison hotbox. Add the floodlights outside without a decent shade and a front desk closed at 10 so no one's around to help, you have an extremely uncomfortable […] situation. Hard to believe. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Dear Guest, We apologize about your unhappy stay with us. All rooms have air condoners in them now and we are very sorry you didn't have one. We would like to have you stay with us again. If you call to book mention this to me and we can make it right for you. Hope to hear from you.
"Great location. Close to the center of town."
Hot water was cold for a morning shower. but air conditioning and service was good. WIFI was not good- kept loosing it for some unknown reason.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Dear Guest, We are currently working on the Wi-Fi situation and also having the hot water glitches fixed as well. We hope to see you again in the near future.
Cleanliness and room comfort were adequate. However, two major creature comforst were missing. The first is that there was no hot water in the morning for showers - we are early risers and were in the shower by 7am, not sure what happened with their hot water. The second, was that there were no coffee makers in the rooms - there was free coffe offered […] in the lobby, but by the time we were walking out the door at 8am, it was still not up and running. So no morning coffe and a cold shower do not make a happy customer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"No air conditioning"
We were placed upstairs in the "carriage house" and found that this section of the hotel has NO airconditioning (apart from the amenities listing ALL rooms with A/C). Of the four windows in the room, two had screens. (I purchased a fan at the local hardward store to make this stay tolerable) The wireless internet was not working. I booked the room as […] a family of four: my wife and I, and our two daughters-- We had two towels provided. Though convenient to walking downtown, never again will I stay here. "Nice comfortable place"
Made a last minute reservation for their econo room. When I got there the nice lady at the front offered to have me stay in main lodge. The room was clean comfortable and nicely decorated. The welcome was very friendly. A nice place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Thank you for your review. We work very hard on customer service and hope to see you again in the near future.
"Nice hotel close to Main Street stores."
Wonderful staff, quick check-in, on site restaurant with excellent food( bit expensive, but delicious). Nice rooms, clean, but doors squeaky and hard to open at times, could use some more updating.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Thank you for your review. We are currently updating the carpets and much more to come. We hope to see you again.
Convenient to restaurants/shops in Stowe village - at base of drive up to mountain - stayed in lodging behind main lodge, so a little inconvenient in winter mud/snow - nice shared sitting area with couches and space to relax - bar comfortable and friendlyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Thank you for the great review. We hope to see you again soon.
"Dated Room, Poor Internet"
Room was very dated. Beds were not the most comfortable. Unable to connect to WIFI. Called the front desk about the WIFI and they told me they would call me back with further information and they never did. We stayed in the carriage house. It looked like the main house was much nicer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn We are very sorry about your unhappy stay. We have fixed the WFI problem and are making many improvements. Thank you for your review.
"What a dump"
Old, smelly, and should either do updates or close the doors!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room itself left a lot to be desired. It was dark, smelly, musty and not totally clean. Felt like a run down ski lodge. It was expensive considering the room. The location, however, was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Average hotel close to village center"
Pros: -Clean rooms. -Nice location. Close to shops and restaurants. Cons: -The only reason I booked this room is that they advertise they have free wifi on their Expedia page. Free wifi is listed under hotel amenities. However, they don't have a wifi, yet alone a free one. This was a huge disappointment. Why do you state that you provide a free wifi […] while you don't? Keep in mind that some of the offered amenities may be missing or may not be offered by this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Last minute choice"
After a few overcast days we decided to head north out of Maine and into Vermont on the way back to the Canadian border. We had heard of Stowe but never been before. We stopped at the information centre in town and were given rates for two different inns. We decided to check out the Stowe Inn first based on price. This is where if got confusing. The […] desk clerk while very helpful had no clue why the information centre had given us this rate but was willing to match it. After going on line (in their lobby) I found yet an even better price on Expedia. She offered to refund our rate and let us rebook using her lobby computer. The check-in procedure took some time but was well worth it. The room was in the main building with a balcony over looking the main street. It was a bit dated but given it was a heritage home some of this seemed appropriate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn I'm very happy that you were pleased with our accommodations! Please come stay with us again in the future! - Jenna, Front Desk Supervisor
The hotel was perfect. The staff went over the top to accommodate us. It was walking distance to town / bars / restaurants and shopping. Skiing was only a 12 min ride. I would personally like to thank Chef Shawn and the two managers Jessia and Yvette they made the entire stay enjoyable. We will be going back 2 more times this year.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great spot. Great location."
The room was nice. Big and comfortable beds. Good TV. Good heater. We loved the artwork in the room. 4 or 5 pictures of great ships. Bathroom was good. It had a heater which is always important. Nice hot water. I read many "bad" reviews of the rooms. From what I gather those reviews were from people who confused the "economy" rooms with the main building. […] We stayed in the main building and it was very nice. Good parking. Great location. We had over a dozen of choices for dinner that were in walking distance even in the winter. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice exterior and location, good service, BUT.."
We stayed in one of their lowest-cost (but still $139) rooms in the "motel" building (not the main inn) right across the parking lot. While it was clean, it was quite old, including the furniture. The arm chair was so well-worn that we were afraid to sit on it and the sofa-bed wasn't far behind. The electric base-board heater units looked like they […] were ready to fall off the wall and the towel rack actually did. There were all kinds of strange noises at night that woke us up several times - sounded like old heating equipment. The folks working in the inn were great, but for the price the facility was lacking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Going Skiing? Consider Staying Here."
A nice, traditional lodge, mostly for the ski crowd, or any Stowe visitor, very conveniently located. I can't say enough about the staff. They were extremely helpful. The food was good as well, though they don't serve breakfast during the week. I definitely recommend this lodge.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fine for a night!"
The inn is an old building so obviously the individual rooms are older with some modern redecorating/renovations. The main issue I had was the mold in the bathroom. The mold and mildew was obvious and started at the ceiling and was spreading down the wall. It was dark in color. The shower curtain also had mildew on the bottom and needed to be replaced. […] I wouldn't have noticed that if I hadn't bent down to get the shampoo! All in all, for the price it was fine The beds were very comfortable and its location was great. Everything was good except for breakfast.Comfortable room & lots of space in the room....Genuine Expedia guest review
Room and location are great - as well as price. Only issue was rate said included breakfast yet were charged $5 per person by hotel for the continental breakfast which had a VERY limited selection of food and issues with both waffle maker and toaster. Hotel also did not even offer breakfast on one day as too few people at hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to shops and sights"
My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a great time. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the dinner we had was delicious. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed in the actual main inn part, so I'm not sure what the carriage house looked like. The only small complaint would be the gravel driveway because […] it did rain and snow while we were there causing our shoes to get muddy but we did notice a lot of other places had gravel driveways as well. "excellent staff, perfect corner room....lovely"
My stay was just what I wanted it to be: a peaceful 2-day visit to Stowe to take in the beauty of the area, then relax in a clean, comfortable room. The staff, particularly Maryanne, was cheerful, friendly, helpful and went that extra measure to make me feel welcome at the Stowe Inn. My go-to place in this part of Vermont!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Simple but clean"
This hotel is simple but clean. The reception staff are very friendly. They served breakfast from 8 am which is quite late considering they weren't quite ready so we have to wait for another 20 mins, but they have good waffle! Overall, it's okay and will come back to stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Home away from home."
We had a great time. The food in the restaurant attached was kind of eh, though the decor is rather beautiful. We did have some trouble accessing the wifi, but then again, we weren't interested in Facebook while we were there, so it wasn't a big deal. Might be to someone more technologically obsessed. (By "trouble", I mean it was just a weak signal.) […] We stayed in the King size suite, and it was perfect for us. A great place to crash after a busy day of seeing the sights. The service from the front desk was great...they were tremendously polite and helpful. We had arrived late, and were looking for something to drink, and they opened the bar up for us to serve us a couple of sodas. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed here before and the main hotel is lovely. We had only two things that could have been better. First the Bed in room 204 sagged in the middl, and needed some center supports and they stopped having hard boiled eggs for breakfast. But all in all we had a great time. We would definately return to the Stowe Inn. The girl said that they would […] fix the bed and hopefully the hard boilded eggs would return to the free breakfast menu. "convenient to downtown Stowe"
overall a nice hotel; room did have some broken windows taped together so we did not dare try to open the windows in our room on what was above average temperatures for mid-October and the room was a little on the warm side.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were overall happy with our stay...room was clean, inn was very charming. Within walking distance to the downtown village area. Our only disappointment was that the gas was not hooked up to our fireplace, so no fire. The fireplace was one of the main reasons I booked this, so that was a bummer. Plus, there was no AC (or we just couldn't figure out […] how to work the temp control) and the windows in our room did not open. Though I did see windows in other rooms open. "Stowe Inn, No WAy"
The room was not clean, with trash under the bed and very dusty blinds. There was no bedspread just an uncovered duvet that did not even cover the sides of the bed and old pillows. There was no elevator nor anyone to help with lugging 2 heavy bags up to the second floor room. The bathroom was gross. All in all, we did not stay in the room even though […] we lost the money we paid for 2 nights. We went to another hotel in Stowe which was overpriced but at least it was clean. I would not recommend the Stowe Inn to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect location with history and great value."
This is a great Historic Inn that was named the Yodeler Inn with smaller building across the street named the Echo, during the 1960-1970s skiing hey-day. The current Stowe Inn building holds architectural features and much of the charm of that era -- including expansive windows, piano, and welcoming fireplace at one of the open common gathering areas, […] with historic wooden bar area and glass-walled restaurant overlooking the village and river below. The detached Country Lodge portion of the Stowe Inn complex offers economical rooms that are perfect for the budget minded or those saving toward those ski lift-tickets. The staff consists of helpful, friendly, and accommodating Vermonters who remember you during return visits. Breakfasts are bountiful with choices of fruits, pastries, yogurts, cereals, and fresh custom (blueberries, strawberries, etc.) waffles and optional ($5 for eggs benedict, etc.) more substantial egg, bacon, and sausage breakfasts from the menu. Ask Norman, an attentive and good humored weekend staff member, about the bacon sausage. The new chef has put the dinner menu and River House Restaurant back on the Stowe map. Overall this is a great value at a perfect location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room was ok. The window only had one shade on it. had 2 windows. Could not lock one of the windows. Room itself was clean & neat. In town could walk to were you wanted to do. Needs to be updated. Windows the first thing to be done & shades for all the window also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The carriage house rooms are animal friendly, but the dog in the next room barked through the night and early in the morning. The room was never cleaned and we had no toliet paper and not even a spare roll. When checking out and sharing my concerns the man at the desk didn't really even care.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for the price."
Gladly surprised. Our room was in the main building above the restaurant (very good food!). Good size. Recommended. Our visit was in off season and we obtained a great rate. The hotel and staff could not have been more pleasant. The hotel restaurant had a delightful view of town & the river and the meal was excellent. "Dependable, clean, and pleasant"
We visited Stowe during the busy fall foliage season, and found a fair price for 2 midweek nights at the Stowe Inn. The room was clean and in good repair, save for a nightshade that couldn't roll up, but that didn't bother us. The area near our room was quiet and dark enough at night, so we slept well. The continental breakfast suited our needs for […] a light start to the day, but could have been made into a feast if you wanted it, since it had quite a large selection of food. "Great location in Stowe."
I stayed in one of the lodge rooms which were separate from the actual Inn. It was raining when I got there and the parking lot is not paved. There were very few parking places in the area of my room so I had to walk through a muddy parking lot to get to my room. The main Inn is very quaint and in an excellent location in Stowe though. The restaurant […] menu in the room was outdated as the restaurant had recently acquired a new chef and the menu had changed. The food I had there was very good though.
