"Cabining was great"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 22, 2013
Very nice staff, given coffee from personal stash as is not provided. Issue with heater resolved immediately. Do not try to have 2 adults or even an adult and child sleep on living room futon, too small. Pleased with accommodations and service.
"Great place to stay! Will stay again!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 22, 2013
The 1 bedroom suite with 2 double beds was perfect for our family and spacious. We had a kitchenette, which was helpful. Everything was kept clean and the hotel was responsive to all needs! Check-in and check out were super easy, very fast. I loved the free internet services and free parking. Another wonderful feature was the breakfast, which was included in the room rate and was plenty of food for us. It included the typical cereal, pastry, and hot foods like eggs, home fries, and bacon. They also had bagels, english muffins, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, milk, and juice. Each Monday through Thursday they had a mangers reception during which they served hot food - sausages with peppers and onions, chili nachos, and pasta alfredo were just a few of the dishes served. They also serve wine and beer during this time which was included, not an extra charge. I found our stay here to be very comfortable and economical since we are a family of four. The pool and hot tub were small but not too busy. My children enjoyed a good swim. The fitness area is also small but had well maintained, modern equipment. All areas were clean and well maintained. I loved the wood floors in the living area of the suite, although there was carpet in the bedrooms. I truly enjoyed our stay and whenever we are in the area again, this is where we will stay without question!
"Great value off season"
We stayed at this hotel in the off season (between Labor Day and Leaf Season) and it was a great value. Stowe at this time of year is a beautiful sleepy little town with upper class shops but a friendly home-town attitude.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel if you're just stopping through"
The Stowe Inn provides all the basic amenities without a lot of service or attention to detail. We reserved a King room but were put in a Queen room because the toilet had flooded in the King room. Since we had pre-paid our room, they couldn't refund us. They gave us a free appetizer and draft beer tasting in the restaurant (which I'm pretty sure they […] give everyone). The bed was comfortable but the sheets were a very low thread count - my husband thought they felt like sandpaper. The restaurant was okay - my husband's meal was delicious, but my steak was overcooked. This hotel lacks consistency - seems some travelers have good experiences and others do not. We had a mediocre experience. I will probably stay somewhere else in Stowe next time we come through - a place where the service and quality of the rooms is consistently good. "Busy college wknd."
The woman at the front desk was most accomodating. We were arriving late and she agreed to accept a take out order delivered to the hotel for us and bring it to our room, which was on the first floor. We ended up arriving in time to accept it our selves but the offer was very nice. The restaurant staff was just closing up for the night but gave us place […] settings without blinking an eye, that made our night. The room was nice though the a/c was a bit loud when it cycled on. The bathroom was clean but could use some updating . Over all it was a nice stay. I think the rooms upstairs might be nicer, and probably saved for those paying full price. For the one night Hotels.com rate it was worth it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint little inn, just lovely"
Hotel Staff, especially the 2 girls at the front desk, were so welcoming and friendly. Really enjoyed our stay in this quaint little inn.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very convenient location and friendly staff!"
Our experience at the hotel was a lovely one, and Jennifer at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. She recommended a few things to do. We took her advice, and we all (2 teenagers included) had a fantastic time! My only complaint was that the air conditioner unit in our room was loud, and the bed was too close to it, so the person sleeping in […] that spot (me, of course!) would get cold in the middle of the night. Continental breakfast was offered 8a-10a, however, if you came down closer to 10a, most of the offerings were either gone, or looked as if it had been handled too much. Very convenient location! It's a lovely 2-minute walk (through a covered bridge, to boot!) to main part of the village. Restaurants, shops and the Recreation Path were all right there. My husband and son enjoyed mountain biking on the trails in the Cady Hill Forest (right behind the inn!) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good location, not so good accomdations"
The Inn is old and in desperate need of upgrade. I was so hoping this would be one of those quaint inns with lotes of charm. It's clear it has been neglected over time and not treated with tender loving care. Adequate is the best I can say about it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Economy Lodge Review"
Before reading through, take note: this review is for the economy lodging NOT the main house. The main house is beautiful-there is everything from a library, piano room, restaurant to outdoor leisure areas. There is a lovely breakfast and the walk to the village only takes two minutes. However the separate economy lodging building is reminiscent of […] your standard motel. Musty air, old carpet and grimy walls. For a last minute trip (like need a place to stay overnight after a wedding) it's fine, but for a planned vacation I would make sure you stay in the main lodge. "Beautiful Inn"
The inn is beautifully situated in the charming town of Stowe and is walking distance to lovely shops, bars, and restaurants. The attached restaurant serves a selection of local microbrews on tap and semi-fancy fare at relatively decent prices. I enjoyed the duck breast and seasonal veggies quite a bit. The free breakfast is minimal but certainly adequate. […] Our room was pleasant but not extraordinary. No complaints. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed here before heading to Burlington. The hotel was quaint - very neat historic inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a good size. We didn't get to see much of Stowe, but it seemed like the inn was in a good location for visiting Stowe. If we came back to the area, we would stay at this inn again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not bad, economy rooms need updating."
The Inn its self is beautiful, but if you choose the lower rate rooms this is not where you will stay. The detached motor lodge like rooms are very clean and large, but need updating. The TV is very small if this is important to you, and the WiFi did not reach the room from the Inn. The breakfast was one of the worst I have ever encountered with very […] little available and terrible coffee. The town of Stowe is wonderful and the Inn is very conveniently located. Staff seemed friendly and polite. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 4-star - only good to look at from outside"
Not a 4-star hotel! The pictures on Expedia only show the most expensive room in the hotel apparently. The room you get from Expedia is in the converted carriage house behind the Inn pictured. This room is a 2 star MAX - tired looking linens, old tiny bathroom and musty smells. We requested and were upgrated (for free thankfully) to a room in the actual […] Inn, an improvement but still a far cry from a 4-star room. The linens were newer, the furniture nicer and a flat screen tv rather than the old style in the carriage house room. BUT, the air conditioning unit was pre set to freezing with a quarter inch of dust in the slots from where the air eminated. There was no way to adjust the temperature, speed and direction of the fan which blew directly on the beds. We had to unplug the entire unit. The carpet was vacummed but had a line of dirt where the carpet met the wall. Finally, the "breakfast" was a joke; a couple of cookie jars with sugar cereal, stale-tasting mini bagels, bread in a plastic bag, no knives to spread anything, tables with crumbs and dirty dishes left on them. Need I go on? Yes, it's a pretty Inn from the outside. Yes, it's old and has an interesting history. That's where the charm ends. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Stowe Inn Thank you for posting your feedback from your visit with us. I want to apologize for the inconveniences you went through at our hotel. You have booked the Country Lodge Economy Room that is located in a separate building from the Main Inn and the rates are offered at a significantly lower price for the budget conscious traveler. I am deeply sorry for the confusion. Rest assured that your comments have been passed onto the Hotel Management Staff to prevent similar occurrences from happening in the future.
"Loved it."
It was relaxing, quiet and fantastic. The Tavern was amazing for breakfast and dinner. The Amazing Mac and Cheese really was amazing. But really, the waiter who took care of us all weekend really made our meals that much more delightful. The distance from main street was so incredibly convenient, we only drove the car once in four days, as everything […] we could possibly want or need was within walking distance. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have a small fridge for drinks in the room. That being said, it was very hard to not book another night on top of the extra night we had already booked. Great inn, wonderful staff and a fantastic location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Don't go by the photos"
I "tolerated" the stay once I had committed to it. It was farther from my daily destination than promised. There were different staff each day, each one explaining that they had just recently come on board - made me think why the turnover. My room was dark - had to spend the first half-hour re-arranging lamps and discovering that some outlets did not […] work. Continental breakfast was bleak the first two days:cold coffee, no cream, had to search through drawer for napkins, old cheerios in the sugar basket and on the floor. Thursday was completely different - staff person told me he was new on the job and wanted to present a proper service. Never saw the owner after the first evening, and there was rarely a staff person at the desk. When I decided to "lock into" this stay, I said I wanted to be able to weigh in on the positive side for comments. NOT SO. I will never return here. Would love to know the "behind the scene story". The main lodge is lovely, but it seems as if completely inexperienced staff is running the B&B. Our room was not ready, even though our arrival was several hours after check in. "A good nights sleep"
The Stowe Inn is centrally located and off just off the main road. I not used to paying the price I paid for a simple hotel room but this is also my first stay in Stowe Vermont. The rooms we stayed in were in a separate building from the main hotel. They were clean but definitely aged. We stayed two nights and they picked up the room and made the beds […] the next day but failed to replace any of the towels. They did though quickly fix the issue when contacted. Ice machine ran out of ice the night before we left. It had a complimentary breakfast but it didn't start until 8:00AM and we were out of the room bicycling by then so can't comment about that. Overall it was a good room, nothing fancy, clean and beds slept well. Got two good nights sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The Stowe Inn is very convenient walking distance to the shops and restaurants in the center of Stowe and an easy drive to the others on Mountain Road. The Inn rooms were nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The 3rd floor family suite was clean and comfortable with the exception that the window a/c in the main room did not cool the room. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. "Pleasant staff & reasonable rate"
The staff was very pleasant. The inn is very quaint and quiet. Our room (in the adjacent lodge) was clean, but very basic. The beds were comfortable. "Quaint Hotel in near downtown"
This hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants and shops in downtown Stowe. You can walk to several places from this hotel. There are nice rooms in the main building and rooms in the separate building which are considered the country lodge rooms. We booked a last minute country lodge room when we were passing through Vermont. When we arrived, […] they had some of the nicer rooms in the main building available and they offered us to upgrade and showed us the room. We did not take it (although the rooms looked very nice) simply because we just needed a place to crash. They offered continental breakfast and for $5/person you could upgrade to the buffet. The pictures of the country lodge rooms on their website are not quite up to par with the real thing though. The entrance to rooms in the back part of the building look a little like an "old-school" cabin/shack. The rooms had individual air conditioning units and since they were turned off, the room smelled musty. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and carpet cleaning to get rid of the smell but the rooms themselves are not bad. They are quite large and beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needed more time!"

Overall I liked our stay at the Stowe Inn. Our room was quite large with 2 full beds and a pull out couch with plenty of room to boot. The bathroom was pretty small but hey, it was just a bathroom. There was an outdoor pool that looked very inviting. "Ok for 1 night but would not want to stay longer"
We stayed in the carriage house behind the main inn but learned that apparrently these are the "budget rooms." The room was large and the bed comfortable but the bathroom (toilet/ shower w/ sink outside of this room) was claustrophic feeling. The sink counter was very worn and the faucets were actually backwards (hot faucet on right, cold on left) and […] oriented in a strange way (perpendicular to sink). There was a great deal of wear on the bathroom tile and floor, and what looked to be either dirt or crumbled pieces of tile on the floor. The free continental breakfast consisted of a few muffins in a basket, 2 small apples in another basket and a couple cereal choices. We opted for the bagel shop down the road instead. On the plus side, the hotel was located very close to town making it easy to walk into town or to the recreational path. The downstairs of the main lodge was beautiful - I guess that the rooms in the inn were probably much nicer. It's a shame the owners haven't renovated the carriage house - it could be a lovely place w/ some effort! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
