Room was OK, pretty outdated, beds were not really comfortable. The lighting was pretty terrible in the room so hope you don't lose anything because you may have a hard time locating it. They do have a nice sitting room in the lobby with a fireplace where my girlfriends and I enjoyed a bottle of wine when we arrived. We had dinner at their restaurant […] and Alan was our server. The food and service was absolutely outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised. For the cost and comfort I would say a good choice but I think next time we may try to stay a little closer to the resort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stowe Inn Please Avoid"
1) Bare wires hanging from the electric baseboard. 2) Outlets so worn that items would not stay plugged in. 3) Bathroom appeared to have avoided all attempts at cleaning. 4) ONE lousy 2 slot toaster for the continental breakfast. 5) A little paint and updating too would be helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to the Von Trapp Lodge and skiing"

"On the road to Stowe resort and Smugglers Notch."
McCarthy's for breakfast and Whips restaurant in Green Mountain Inn. Walk the town center, visit the area attractions a short drive away.Genuine Expedia guest review
Helpful and positive staff. Clean room, plenty of towels, and nice sink area. Great location right off 100, so you can use it as a launch point for Stowe or for driving around to Smuggler's notch (about an hour with Rt 108 closed in winter). Great price - I had a discount for early March. Very satisfied overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A tired property, in need of serious attention."
I rolled into the Stowe Inn at about 10:40 pm. The door to the front lobby was locked, with a confusing note about using a "code" to get in. I didn't have one. I knocked and got the attention of a night attendant who tried in vain to communicate with me through a glass window. She finally opened the door and mentioned something about me not having a […] late arrival code because I booked through Expedia. Look, for close to two hundred bucks a night, they can have a desk attendant there to answer the door (yes, all night long) and check me in when I get there. When I got to the room, I couldn't believe that I was paying that much for what I saw. I don't have anything else to compare to in Stowe, but I have traveled to many ski resort towns in the US, and reside in a Colorado ski resort town, so I believe that I am a fair judge of what to expect. Nothing broken, just, thin, worn and tired. This is a $49 motel room in any little town in the midwest. It is only "cute" because it sits in Stowe, VT. That doesn't cut it. "Nice and convenient"
It wss a very nice stay....except for the fact that expedia had cancelled my trip for me so when I arrived they did not have my name and were booked to capacity. They thankfully had one room available. Stayed here before and have never been disappointed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful staff--great location"
The staff at The Stowe Inn were extraordinary from check-in to check-out. Alan at the front desk went out of his way to make sure all of our questions were answered and that we always felt welcome to ask for anything. The bar is beautiful and Suzanne was a wonderful bartender and very informative about the surrounding area. The inn even has a murder […] mystery dinner on the weekends. We did not attend but saw some of the participants and it looked like a lot of fun. Our room was in the main inn and was clean and comfortable. We went for a ski trip and it was a nice location for Stowe & Smuggler's Notch skiing. The inn is in the heart of town and walking distance to a bunch of great shops and restaurants. We will definitely return to Stowe Inn if we're back in the area because of their hospitality, location, and comfort! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Really gone downhill with the new owner"
We stayed at this inn about 8 years and loved it but not this time. Very disappointed. The breakfast was a joke. Cold coffee, some oatmeal and toast. The room was hard to sleep in from the noise of the heating system. They failed to clean our room after our second night. The restaurant and bar was only open Friday and Saturday night. They only had about […] 20 diners yet ran out of many things. Even the bar was out of many basic brands of whiskey. The new owner really needs to clean up her act before I would go back. The welcome was warm especially with the single digit temps outside. The room was spacious, nicely appointed WITH. A heater that sounded like a cement mixer churning throughout our stay, toilets that clogged with out reason ( the owner gladly serviced our problem and said " all of our plumbing is connected". So I guess their problems became it problems-- […] this was especially disconcerting when the basin filled with water that had black flecks floating in it that left the basin black when drained!! Ugh!! There was a continental breakfast. Grape but cereal, mini muffins and 3 -- week old bagels that could have been used by the Bruins as hockey pucks. Coffee, bug the harried waitress informed us that the chef did not show up, so the beautiful array if hot offerings for breakfast were not possible and she did not know how to get hot water for tea. The view is lovely from the dining room looking back over into the center of Stowe and they have a bar that was carved during Grant's time. All worth seeing, but maybe make this a sight seeing stop and not an overnight stay. Definitely not worth the $189 I paid for myself and my kids in a delux room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stowe Inn Was Horrible!!"
I will NEVER return to this hotel! Room was not clean, room was not cleaned until the evening when we complained, no fresh towels, dirty dishes at breakfast, breakfast not ready at all or on time, no decaf coffee, door to room constantly banging, tub faucet leaked, bathroom sink pulling away from wall, etc etc etc etc etc etc. I have been trying and […] trying to get someone to call me about this horrible stay. There were so many other guests who were complaining about this place!! Just awful. I have tried and tried to reach someone. I want a refund!! The on site manager was no help at all! Aweful!!!!! When you pull into the driveway and it is not plowed and full of ice you should know to turn and leave. No one at the front desk when we arrived, had to go looking. Room was aweful. Headboards old and attached to wall not bed and one was backwards asI could read the note that this side goes against wall. Bathroom was tiny and bathroom door […] was filthy. Sink was on the outside and the faucets were backwords. Cold was hot and hot was cold. way over priced for what we got. TV was old and beds were very uncomfortable. Will never stay there again and will tell all not to stay there either. We have been visiting stowe for the past 13yrs and this was the worst place we have ever stayed in. "Our stay at The Stowe Inn was horrible."
I called your office about how horrible our stay here was and was told they would not help me as I should have called the first night. What were we to do?Pack up and leave? Where would we have gone? There were many guests there that were complaining about the same problems. The list starts with room not being cleaned, no fresh towels, dirty dishes, breakfast […] not ready, bathroom sink pulling away from the wall, dirty carpet in the room, one lamp had no light bulb, ice all over sidewalk, etc etc etc. The people in the room next to us checked in and their room was not ready. They had told us that there was fecal material in the toilet. The coffee Saturday morning when it was finally ready was cold. At breakfast Sunday, people were picking different dishes because many were dirty. I have been coming to Stowe for many many years to ski. This was the first time I did not enjoy my stay. This inn was awful and we will never return. When we told the manager about our issues, he did nothing! He said for us to call our booking site. I did and was told hotels.com would do nothing. "Most disappointed I've ever been with a hotel stay"
...but didn't. I should note I don't usually write reviews, because I'm fair laid back, but I wa complex because the experience was so disappointing. First the room was definitely not worth the price, just of itself. Run down, terrible beds, etc. But these things don't usually bother me. However, three was also no soap in the bathroom and no trash […] can in the room anywhere. These are basics you get in a comfort inn. So that was less than ideal. I feel mistakes are made though and people should be given a chance to correct them. So in the morning we let the front desk know and she said she would alert housekeeping. We went out a all day, and when we came back, not only had either problem corrected, but housekeeping NEVER EVEN CAME! So before we left for dinner I told the front desk again. There was no real apology, and when we returned, there was finally soap but STILL no trash can. To me, that is completely inexcusable. There were two chances to make good on the mistake, and it was not handled or handled poorly each time. Unfortnlutely, no positives to share here. Stay at a chain or spend the extra to stay close by at a different establishment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place for the price"
Close to everything. The hospitality was wonderful. My only complaint was the mattress on the bed. It was worn out and needs replacement. The fireplace/meeting room in the main house was very comfortable and convenient. Great for family games etc....Genuine Expedia guest review

Nice place, but a total lack of ambiance. Very little is done by management to create a welcoming environment. This could be a very cozy, friendly, comfortable, attractive hotel with a great restaurant and bar. But it's not at this time.Genuine Expedia guest review

Great place and convenient to the mountain. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast could be improved there wasn't much to it, but overall was very nice!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our stay at the Stowe Inn. I did book a King Bed with Jacuzzi through Hotels.com though and was given a queen bed with regular bathroom. There was nothing the front desk was able to do, since they weren't sure "what rate I paid" though hotels.com. The place was quaint and pretty average inn. The location was great near Stowe village and 15 […] mins drive to the ski mountain. I would say the Tavern at the Inn had so much potential but lacked some key qualities. Service was very friendly but not very good. Also, we had the option of a hot breakfast until 10am. We go down there at 9:30 am and were informed that they would not make us more eggs or pancakes. It was a slow weekend but we were still surprised they refused to accommodate us. It was a nice spot but I will definitely be choosing another hotel next time. "quaint town average inn"
Stayed in the long row of inn rooms across from the historic building - walls paper thin and little to no privacy. Room decor very basic including lack of complete set of shades on the windows. No curtains at all. Limited parking and snow made it difficult to navigate in the parking area. Very average continental breakfast. Overall not impressed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent location, rundown buildings"
We booked this at the last minute on a sale. We knew we'd be staying in the "motel style" buildings but we didn't realize how motel-like they really were. The room was dark (two lamps only one of which had a light bulb - we had to ask for another bulb to put in the desk lamp but even with that it was still very dark). The walls are extremely thin and […] we could hear our neighbors on the side and above us. The included breakfast was below average; we actually skipped it on our second day in favor or trying a local breakfast place. We were gone all day snowshoeing and came home to find no one had tidied up our room, then we got a knock around 5PM from housekeeping asking if we'd like them to "freshen up the room". Not a big deal, but a little disappointing given we'd been gone from like 9:30 to 4:30. So given all that, why is it still 3 stars? The location! It's a perfect spot - walkable to Stowe Village and right at the start of Mountain Road. Also, the Inn is beautiful - the common areas inside the main building are gorgeous - if you can get a room inside the Inn, I'd recommend splurging for that. And value for the location, it seems like a good deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful place right in the heart of Stowe"
We were not there to ski, this time, so did not care about proximity to the slopes. Instead it was our anniversary. Great hotel. The staff was amazing. Emily at the front desk was extremely helpful and took the time to give us great recommendations on where to eat, shop, and cross country ski. "so much potential, so disappointing"
Heating system in room archaic; so loud, woke everyone up every time it kicked on; Bathroom not completely clean and no effort to update; But what is really going to limit your success is the restaurant. Christmas eve dinner began with a gorgeous chestnut soup, probably the best soup I have ever tasted, followed by a just fair salad and a horrible main […] course: prime rib tough and flavorless, mashed potatoes watery and more tasteless, and asparagus so overcooked it was presented as mush on the plate. Next morning, CHRISTMAS morning, the continental breakfast was terrible AND the linens on the tables were dirty! Best Western does a better continental breakfast on a Tuesday! The next day, we went to the Green Mountain Inn for breakfast which was fabulous. Try it! You will not succeed if the food isn't good...if you cant even be bothered to make mash potatoes tasty on Christmas Eve!!! Try for simple great food presented with care. We stayed here on business and got a great deal on the room from hotels.com. The hotel is in a great location and the staff is very friendly. The lobby and common area are very nice. We had made a reservation for only a few nights, but when we came to the conclusion we were going to stay longer the receptionist helped us out so much. The hotel is very conveniently located in the town of Stowe. It is within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Also, we appreciated its pet-friendly policies. Initially we were assigned a room that was under construction but the staff apologized and moved us to an appropriate room promptly. The room was comfortable.
