We had a great stay. Alan was just so great. He gave us an upgrade and brought in an Air conditioner to make our stay even more comfortable. We were up in Vermont to visit colleges with our son. We had beautiful a beautiful suite. We had our own room and our son had his own room. Breakfast was also wonderful. As I said, Alan was just wonderful making […] sure that we had a fantastic time. We would definitely stay at The Stowe Inn again.0. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The price was right"
Was placed in one of the out buildings and not in the original inn. A bit old and outdated, no hotel toiletries, no in room coffee, dark room, no desk. Also no coffee or continental breakfast available by 7:30am. Probably related to off season, but not impressive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice old inn"
If you are looking for modern hotel this is certainly not the type. But if you like the old-time style lodging, it is perfect. Nice spacious sitting-room with sofa, fireplace, piano and board games, I think it's perfect for families and group spending time here. Lots of outdoor seatings available. Lovely in summer!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historic Vermont luxury, tastefully done"
First of all, this is an OLD inn - on the national registry of historic places. The guest rooms are thus not the large, ultra-spacious suites you'd see at a Hilton, but the off season rates and old country charm are part of what makes the place unique. There are more luxurious accommodations in Stowe, but none speak old-world charm and service of this […] ancient but clean and servicable hotel. The rooms are spread out like 2 story apartments with steps. There is a section called the 'carriage house' because it used to be a row of garages made into rooms decades ago. While the walls and ceiling are old, the rooms are clean, functional and generously sized. We had 2 armchairs where we could sit side by side and look out on the leafy scenery. There is a pool (non-heated) and very good restaurant on site that serves a good steak. The staff was uber-friendly and professional, and despite the off-season the place was fairly full. People who aren't clean freaks and hyper-obsessed luxury addicts should have a good time while appreciating the historic beauty so typical of upstate Vermont. I'd stay here again, and the rates were among the cheapest I could find in VT. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It's the perfect location with the perfect staff. Please don't think twice about staying here. Such a relaxing quiet environment with green mountain coffee every morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Overall okay, but missing the details."
Two rooms reserved. One had only one towel. The other no soap. Granted, small annoyances, but how do you miss the basics? Nice looking restaurant if it was open for business. Continental breakfast was basic and they seemed to have a hard time keeping up on food and coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel staff excellent but condition of room awful"
Hotel staff was super friendly, continental breakfast was awesome. Room condition was poor with gross carpet and a very uncomfortable mattress but the bathroom was clean. We stayed In the outside building, not the main one.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charming, historic, a bit rustic and close in."
Loved it! Our off season discounted stay exposed us to a gem of a place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint and Quiet"
Beautiful old hotel! They use actual keys and the place screamed vintage...in a good way. I love old structures. We ended up in the suite with 2 rooms because I requested the jacuzzi tub...which was AMAZING. I'm on the bigger side, so a bathtub that was comfortable for me was a huge plus! It was quiet and all staff goes home by 8:30pm. So when we […] went downstairs around 9, it was dark as pitch, but don't let that deter you. Only downside, I think, is that food was not offered, but I believe that was due to the fact that we were there in the "off" season. However, there are a couple of nice pubs not far that offer food late. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooming at the inn."
At check-in, the inn keeper was not friendly and made us feel we were a bother to be checking in. Once we got to our room we found it was not ready, even though it was late, 5:00PM when we checked in. When we reported this to the inn keeper, she asked several questions, making us feel like we were making it up. It took 2 hours for them to get someone […] there to finish cleaning. We asked if we could wait in the bar. She stated it was closed to guests tonight as they were hosting the high school prom. Our stay went further downhill from there. "No Frills Hotel...Good Value"
Price of room was very reasonable for Stowe. Room was clean. Hotel rooms are much nicer than the motel rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
The carriage house rooms need some TLC but were clean. The food was phenomenal. Both the hot breakfast and continental offerings were outstanding. The prime rib dinner was the best we have EVER experienced. The food was fresh, and carefully crafted. I would recommended this hotel for the convenience and the food. The service was also top notch.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Run down rooms"
The room was so empty it looked like it had been robbed, like Cindy Lou Hoo's house after the Grinch left. Also run down. But nice main bldg and great service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay somewhere else!"
I've stayed at nicer motels than the Stowe Inn. This place was completely overpriced - do not be fooled by the photos on the website of what the rooms look like. The bed was uncomfortable, the doors are hollow-core so all sound travels into and out of your room. If you get a street side room anticipate that even after you shut off the lights, your room […] will be well lit from the street lights outside, and the sheer white curtains do nothing to block the light. Good luck with the continental breakfast because unless you get there right when the food goes out of the kitchen you will go hungry. The complimentary toiletries were nice, but that doesn't make up for the fact that our room wasn't cleaned once during our four day stay...we had to ask for more toilet paper. Save your money and stay somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were disappointed that the restaurant which they advertise wasn't open for business. The hotel was really outdated, decorated in the 70's basically. It was clean. Staff was friendly. There was no amenities to speak of. The pool was closed since the weather was still cold/snow, and it was an outdoor pool. The only great thing about the hotel was location. […] I would likely stay again since the price was right. If for some reason the price was a bit high, I'd pick another place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"simple place to stay while skiing"
Room heater was very noisy and woke us up during the night. Included breakfast was just barebones continental, $5 extra for eggs and funny looking bacon - not exactly the breakfast of champions. More places to put ski clothes to dry in the room would've been nice - ours only had 2 hangers! Convenient late check-in and friendly staff, if a bit short-staffed […] during weekend breakfast. Room was OK, pretty outdated, beds were not really comfortable. The lighting was pretty terrible in the room so hope you don't lose anything because you may have a hard time locating it. They do have a nice sitting room in the lobby with a fireplace where my girlfriends and I enjoyed a bottle of wine when we arrived. We had dinner at their restaurant […] and Alan was our server. The food and service was absolutely outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised. For the cost and comfort I would say a good choice but I think next time we may try to stay a little closer to the resort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stowe Inn Please Avoid"
1) Bare wires hanging from the electric baseboard. 2) Outlets so worn that items would not stay plugged in. 3) Bathroom appeared to have avoided all attempts at cleaning. 4) ONE lousy 2 slot toaster for the continental breakfast. 5) A little paint and updating too would be helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"On the road to Stowe resort and Smugglers Notch."
McCarthy's for breakfast and Whips restaurant in Green Mountain Inn. Walk the town center, visit the area attractions a short drive away.Genuine Expedia guest review
Helpful and positive staff. Clean room, plenty of towels, and nice sink area. Great location right off 100, so you can use it as a launch point for Stowe or for driving around to Smuggler's notch (about an hour with Rt 108 closed in winter). Great price - I had a discount for early March. Very satisfied overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A tired property, in need of serious attention."
I rolled into the Stowe Inn at about 10:40 pm. The door to the front lobby was locked, with a confusing note about using a "code" to get in. I didn't have one. I knocked and got the attention of a night attendant who tried in vain to communicate with me through a glass window. She finally opened the door and mentioned something about me not having a […] late arrival code because I booked through Expedia. Look, for close to two hundred bucks a night, they can have a desk attendant there to answer the door (yes, all night long) and check me in when I get there. When I got to the room, I couldn't believe that I was paying that much for what I saw. I don't have anything else to compare to in Stowe, but I have traveled to many ski resort towns in the US, and reside in a Colorado ski resort town, so I believe that I am a fair judge of what to expect. Nothing broken, just, thin, worn and tired. This is a $49 motel room in any little town in the midwest. It is only "cute" because it sits in Stowe, VT. That doesn't cut it. "Nice and convenient"

"Wonderful staff--great location"
The staff at The Stowe Inn were extraordinary from check-in to check-out. Alan at the front desk went out of his way to make sure all of our questions were answered and that we always felt welcome to ask for anything. The bar is beautiful and Suzanne was a wonderful bartender and very informative about the surrounding area. The inn even has a murder […] mystery dinner on the weekends. We did not attend but saw some of the participants and it looked like a lot of fun. Our room was in the main inn and was clean and comfortable. We went for a ski trip and it was a nice location for Stowe & Smuggler's Notch skiing. The inn is in the heart of town and walking distance to a bunch of great shops and restaurants. We will definitely return to Stowe Inn if we're back in the area because of their hospitality, location, and comfort! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Really gone downhill with the new owner"
We stayed at this inn about 8 years and loved it but not this time. Very disappointed. The breakfast was a joke. Cold coffee, some oatmeal and toast. The room was hard to sleep in from the noise of the heating system. They failed to clean our room after our second night. The restaurant and bar was only open Friday and Saturday night. They only had about […] 20 diners yet ran out of many things. Even the bar was out of many basic brands of whiskey. The new owner really needs to clean up her act before I would go back. The welcome was warm especially with the single digit temps outside. The room was spacious, nicely appointed WITH. A heater that sounded like a cement mixer churning throughout our stay, toilets that clogged with out reason ( the owner gladly serviced our problem and said " all of our plumbing is connected". So I guess their problems became it problems-- […] this was especially disconcerting when the basin filled with water that had black flecks floating in it that left the basin black when drained!! Ugh!! There was a continental breakfast. Grape but cereal, mini muffins and 3 -- week old bagels that could have been used by the Bruins as hockey pucks. Coffee, bug the harried waitress informed us that the chef did not show up, so the beautiful array if hot offerings for breakfast were not possible and she did not know how to get hot water for tea. The view is lovely from the dining room looking back over into the center of Stowe and they have a bar that was carved during Grant's time. All worth seeing, but maybe make this a sight seeing stop and not an overnight stay. Definitely not worth the $189 I paid for myself and my kids in a delux room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stowe Inn Was Horrible!!"
I will NEVER return to this hotel! Room was not clean, room was not cleaned until the evening when we complained, no fresh towels, dirty dishes at breakfast, breakfast not ready at all or on time, no decaf coffee, door to room constantly banging, tub faucet leaked, bathroom sink pulling away from wall, etc etc etc etc etc etc. I have been trying and […] trying to get someone to call me about this horrible stay. Aweful!!!!! When you pull into the driveway and it is not plowed and full of ice you should know to turn and leave. No one at the front desk when we arrived, had to go looking. Room was aweful. Headboards old and attached to wall not bed and one was backwards asI could read the note that this side goes against wall. Bathroom was tiny and bathroom door […] was filthy. Sink was on the outside and the faucets were backwords. Cold was hot and hot was cold. way over priced for what we got. TV was old and beds were very uncomfortable. "Our stay at The Stowe Inn was horrible."
I called your office about how horrible our stay here was and was told they would not help me as I should have called the first night. What were we to do?Pack up and leave? Where would we have gone? There were many guests there that were complaining about the same problems. The list starts with room not being cleaned, no fresh towels, dirty dishes, breakfast […] not ready, bathroom sink pulling away from the wall, dirty carpet in the room, one lamp had no light bulb, ice all over sidewalk, etc etc etc. The people in the room next to us checked in and their room was not ready. They had told us that there was fecal material in the toilet. The coffee Saturday morning when it was finally ready was cold. At breakfast Sunday, people were picking different dishes because many were dirty. I have been coming to Stowe for many many years to ski. This was the first time I did not enjoy my stay. This inn was awful and we will never return. When we told the manager about our issues, he did nothing! He said for us to call our booking site. I did and was told hotels.com would do nothing. "Most disappointed I've ever been with a hotel stay"
...but didn't. I should note I don't usually write reviews, because I'm fair laid back, but I wa complex because the experience was so disappointing. First the room was definitely not worth the price, just of itself. Run down, terrible beds, etc. But these things don't usually bother me. However, three was also no soap in the bathroom and no trash […] can in the room anywhere. These are basics you get in a comfort inn. So that was less than ideal. I feel mistakes are made though and people should be given a chance to correct them. So in the morning we let the front desk know and she said she would alert housekeeping. We went out a all day, and when we came back, not only had either problem corrected, but housekeeping NEVER EVEN CAME! So before we left for dinner I told the front desk again. There was no real apology, and when we returned, there was finally soap but STILL no trash can. To me, that is completely inexcusable. There were two chances to make good on the mistake, and it was not handled or handled poorly each time. Unfortnlutely, no positives to share here. Stay at a chain or spend the extra to stay close by at a different establishment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
