This hotel was rather disappointing compared to the pictures and description - it is extremely run down and bears no resemblance to the pictures. Our "double bed" was 2 very hard, lumpy twin beds pushed together, leaving an uncomfortable ridge down the middle, with thin, cheap bedding and hard, cracker-thin pillows. We paid extra for a "deluxe" room […] and I have no idea why because nothing about this room struck me as deluxe. For the price I feel I could easily have found something better. It was musty smelling, threadbare, the AC didn't work, and as previously mentioned the bed and bedding quality were poor. The staff was always on the phone when we needed help. Also, I had the impression this hotel was central but it wasn't really, it's kind of on the edge of town. The only advantage of the location is that since it's out of the way, it was pretty quiet there. But I certainly wouldn't stay there again. Read more

If I was going back to Sienna, I would pick a hotel closer to Townsquare on the main shopping strip closer to restaurants. This is not that far but Sienna has quite steep roads and steps so it was difficult for us to go around with a kid in the stroller.

I stayed here one of three nights I planned. For me, the place is too basic, particularly for a winter stay. The hotel runs three stories, and the stairs seem to grow with each use. There is no carpeting in hallways or rooms. The hallways were cold and very drafty. My room had a postcard view, but I could not unpack since there were no drawers. I could […] not put my suitcase anywhere except on the floor. The heat was controlled by the front desk and if I wanted a change in temperature, I needed to phone them. I spent the night freezing, occasionally turning on the heater to the front-desk-set temperature and enduring the jet sound of the heater. It was too loud to leave on and sleep. The bed was only ok. The bathroom had modern equipment and decent amenities, but there was no shelf to put toiletries on, and the toilet paper is of the pull out one sheet at a time variety. So, honestly, I would have to say this place felt to me like a pensione. With that said, it was not at all expensive, and would serve the purposes for someone willing to accept what I was not. For the price of the room, the hotel was wonderful. The bathroom was nice and newly renovated. We had a wonderful room and comfortable bed. The breakfast in the morning was very good and the courtyard where you could eat it was very pretty. There was parking and we were conveniently located.

This is my second stay here and we will stay again. A converted convent, the hotel has spartan, but charming rooms with modern bathrooms. The views from the two rooms i stayed in were magnificent. The breakfast was excellent, located in a beautiful breakfast room. There is also a nice internal courtyard to enjoy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. […] Free, easy to use wifi is provided. Parking for your car is extra, but convenient The only drawback is the three flights of steps to the rooms. They do have a lift, which we used for my father, but he didn't like it. This ai a hotel that was once a monetary. There's a lovely courtyard, ad a special feel to the hotel. Breakfast is in one of the very large rooms past a library. The location ai very close to the main attractions yet a few streets removed so that the noise and craziness of e main center is behind you. The staff was very helpful holding onto our luggage, […] getting us a cab and giving us information. The only word of caution is that the rooms are on the second and third floors and there are many steps to go up. We were on the third floor and I counted 38 steps going up. Love the place, situation, view from our windows out across the Tuscany vista. But what's with no bathtub? Even Paris and Florence accommodated the aching feet, et al., of the weary traveler.

We had a lovely time in beautiful Siena, and our stay here was very pleasant. The desk clerks (especially Dana) were very helpful, directed us to some nice restaurants. The view from the breakfast room of the misty Tuscan hills was wonderful. Il Chiostro is a converted 13th c monastery which is perfect for a stay in this medieval tow.

Il Chiostro del Carmine is a retired monastery, and that heritage gives it a unique sense of presence; it gave me a sense of calm and retreat. High marks for a very nice, large, comfortable, stylish room, with a great bath. Nice view. Also, high marks for great service from hotel staff in helping with transportation arrangements. While the hotel is only about 10 minutes from the center of Siena, it does feel remote, so not for people who want to feel part of a location's "buzz." The front desk staff was so nice, and helped us with our bags to our room. This hotel is an old convent so the building is interesting and has a lovely courtyard. So that make it unique and the location is good away from the noise but only a short walk to all the sights and good restaurants. They also upgraded us no charge when we got there which is always appreciated. The bedspread and chair were thread bare fabric making […] it not as comfortable. The bed was also not comfortable they need new mattress.. Since it is an old large building it also has a very strong musty smell. The Bathrooms are new and very nice. This hotel is tucked nicely away from the busiest parts of historic Siena -- not too far, however, so walking to sites is easy and enjoyable. The cloister is beautiful. I was very disappointed with this hotel, the bathroom was renovated but not the room. It's too small, very old, the furniture doesn't work, there is no elevator, you have to carry your suitcase to the second floor, very uncomfortable

What a wonderful spot! This hotel is located on 2 sites. The first (which houses large deluxe rooms) is in a very old monastery that has been renovated into a guest house. It is stunning. The second, a block away (for smaller suites) is on a lovely side street in the medieval streets of Siena. The room was big with shutters that opened to the street. […] Of all the places we stayed in Italy, this was the nicest and most romantic little getaway! The staff is incredible. When we checked in we were walked to the smaller hotel and given a tour of the surrounding area on the way. Our host pointed out a restaurant that is mostly frequented by locals and it was DELICIOUS! There was a charming attendant waiting to serve us breakfast in the morning, which consisted of her own homemade pastries. Tough to find if you drive into town (as we did), but Chiostro del Carmine is worth the stay. It's terrifically located not far from Piazza del Campo and this converted monastary is a totally unique lodging venue. Maria was GREAT and took great care of us... we got hopelessly lost driving in and she actually took a CAB out to find us and escort us back […] to the hotel! Such genuine kindness is to be commended! She hooked us up for a super dinner at a nearby place (it was after 11PM) and made sure they stayed open for us! Odd bathroom (with a shower that flooded the room a bit), but other than that, our short stay was very nice. Great price, good value, nice place! Thumbs up! Read more

Location was quite good to old town, though finding your way to the hotel, even with gps is almost impossible. Nice, quiet location away from the noisy daytime crowds. Lovely courtyard. Private parking for hotel, even at the cost, is worthwhile. Spacious room and bathroom. All in all, totally satisfied.

Hotel loctaion was within 10 minute walk of Il Campo and the Duomo - Excellent - The Carmelite monastry is a beautiful location, making an ideal short break setting, small, peaceful,clean and comfortable. Make sure you ask for the tea/ coffee facility for your room. Staff were very helpful in making our stay enjoyable.

If you're looking for a slick, modern hotel ... this isn't for you. However, it has character, friendly staff, good level of cleanliness and rooms are comfortable. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Staff were very helpful. Good position near main sites and restaurants. No lift but does have a stair lift. WiFi in lounge.

When the view from the wide open windows is this good, when the proportions of the room are so fine and so spacious, and the staff so eager to please, any minor cavils are insignificant - such as only one CD playing softly in the courtyard, OK if you like Frank Sinatra, but why have musak in a stunning medieval ex-monastery, lack of a decent library […] on Siena's inexhaustible attractions, and misbehaving WiFi, in compensation for which the staff pressed a nice bottle of Chianti on us as we left. We had an excellent stay here at this old converted convent. The standard of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff were excellent. Located just on the outskirts of the city centre - within the city walls but a nice quiet area. Still only about a 10-15 minute walk to the main sights. Highly recommended!
