"Golden Tulip"Reviewed by Stefan of "Clearwater,FL" on Feb 6, 2012
My stay at the Golden Tulip was very pleasant. From the outside, it doesn't look like much and the entrance looks a bit seedy. You push a button on the huge wooden door and it opens by itself like in the old TV Show the Munsters. But once inside, it's clean, the staff is very friendly. The receptionist spoke fluent English and the free breakfast was very nice. The kind of buffet, you'd pay 10 to 15 Euros for in Germany. Also, it's a 10 minute walk to the historic district. I'd happily spend time there again.

"Excellent Hotel"Reviewed by Linda of "Ft. Lauderdale" on Feb 6, 2012
The Hotel is a boat and sits on the water. It's worth the little extra to get a balcony room. It's not actually a balcony, but french doors. But, the view of the river is great. Also, this puts you on the main floor. The rooms were decent size, by European standards. The rooms are modern and always clean. And, I can't say enough good about the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. When we wanted to travel outside the city, the desk clerk got us the train schedules with all our options and prices. Also, they were very helpful with the tram schedules. There is a tram right outside the hotel and local transportation is cheap and easy. It's the best way to get around. There is also a restaurant which is very good. A little pricey, but good if you don't feel like going out. The breakfast in the morning has a good selection and is good. The only negatives are that there is not much very close to the hotel. It's about 10 min or more to reach food, shopping, etc. However, with the local transportation, you can get anywhere. Buy a pass for unlimited rides, it very economical. Also, we had trouble finding the hotel the first time. The hotel is on the water, below the street level. It's 3 bridges down from the Charles bridge, next to th Manes gallery. I can't say enough good about the hotel and I will be staying here on all future trips to Prague.
"LOVE THIS PLACE!!"Reviewed by Trae of "Los Angeles, CA" on Feb 6, 2012
We had such a great time at this Hotel. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we checked out, it was a great experience. The staff was friendly and super helpful, the room was quaint and well kept with lots of space. (shower was a bit odd, with no shower curtain, but a great tub. SO maybe a draw). Breakfast was great and the location couldn't be beat. Literally 200 meters from the old square and a 10 min walk to the Charles bridge. Would happily come back!

Lovely hotel. A Four Star property. Rooms all new, modern. Try to get a room with a balcony and a view of the river. Enjoyed it. Nice complimentary good quality breakfast downstairs.

Founded in 1348 by Charles IV and redeveloped in the 19th century, the New Town originally played host to Prague’s craftsmen and tradesfolk. Many of the city’s cultural and civic institutions are here, including the National Theatre, the State Opera ,and the New Town Hall. The most famous landmark is Wenceslas Square, home of the Velvet Revolution in 1989.
