Nice boutique type hotel if you can afford it. Good room, breakfast and lots of history. Very polite staff ( Mostly Polish I think and they were wonderful ). Be aware that this hotel in many parts dates from 16th century when folks were not very tall (perhaps due to malnutrition, i dont ) but doorways and ceilings can be very low. LOVELY TRADITIONAL TUDOR ROOM. WITH LOTS OF CHARACTER PLUS THE MODERN TOUCH. ALTHOUGH WE HAD PORTABLE HEATER, ROOM WAS STILL QUITE COLD, ESPECIALLY THE TOILET. BREAKFAST WAS VERY NICE BUT HAD TO ASK FOR ITEMS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT HAND, IE SUGAR & SAUCES. OVERALL THOUGH, A LOVELY STAY.

REALLY disappointing. Thought we had booked an old coaching inn but when we got there, we were stuck in the back courtyard where a purpose-built block has been added with the feel of a hall of residence. Had absolutely no character at all. The website gives no indication that this might be your fate so felt cheated and let down.

A genuinely old and charming hotel in the middle of a well-preserved town which you can enjoy at least a full day getting to know. We only had the breakfast, but it was certainly up to standard and there appeared to be a jolly party enjoying dinner in the evening. We had an executive room which was well-equipped and comfortable, and our only complaint […] was that the wi-fi signal did not work there; it did work in the lounge, but the staff did not seem to realise the nature of the problem which we had to work out for ourselves, and the room brochure had nothing in it about wi--fi. I stayed here on Christmas night and found everything about the hotel to be above average. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room comfortable and well equipped. The lobby area was cosy and maintained that aura of an old English inn, quiet and comfortable. The only problem was at breakfast where the only waitress was run off […] her feet, but it was Boxing day. I feel disappointed by my stay at this hotel. I chose it because it looked so full of character and romantic. However that is just the front and not where most of the actual rooms are. You come out of the lovely old coaching inn into a car park and then enter a block of rooms closely resembling a travel lodge, totally generic, dull and not at all what […] I wanted. Our room was the furthest away and the key card did not work three times, each time I had to traipse across the car park again; very unimpressed. The room was very dark and very small and had a basement feel to it even though it was ground floor because there was a huge bank outside the very small window. Plus side was the bathroom was nice and the main hotel, bar and breakfast were lovely. Great town too, lots of nice shops and restaurants. Read more

This place is a perfect example of extremes. A beautiful old hotel ; naff service. Slovenly room cleaning,poor breakfast choice and a receptionist who couldn't tell us the times of trains to London after 15 minutes on the internet all helped to set the tone here. Hot breakfast was not available at 9.32 [closed at 9.30!]. We returned on Sunday evening […] to find that the bar had closed at 6pm and no facility existed to allow residents to have even a lager in the lounge.The Kings Arms is not cheap.......go elsewhere! We have stayed twice at this hotel and found the rooms allocated to us to be very clean, the bed comfortable and the staff helpful. The breakfasts on each occasion were very enjoyable. Although off the main road of Old Amersham, our rooms were away from the main entrance and the road and we enjoyed a good night's sleep in clean, comfortable beds.

We regularly stay at this quaint hotel when visiting Buckinghmshire. It is in the centre of Old Amersham which boasts some wonderful shops and restaurants. The Four Seasons Deli Cafe serves lovely lunches cakes and coffee and definately worth a visit. Good all round hotel with comfortable beds (executive room) and helpful staff.

Hôtel très bien tenu dans un cadre agréable à 30 minutes de Londres par train de banlieue auxquelles il faut ajouter 5 minutes de taxi. Le tout à un tarif abordable. La chambre double executive correspond presque au descriptif ( pas de cheminée dans la chambre) et tout était propre et la réfection intérieure du bâtiment était très récente. Dîner et […] petit déjeuner sont plus que corrects. Personnel serviable au possible ( accueil avec le sourire, fourniture de prise européenne, réveil téléphonique, appel de taxi, port de bagages) . La grosse lacune de cet établissement est l'absence totale de personnel francophone ou de documents ( menus ) en langue française et celà n'est pas normal pour un hôtel-restaurant ***. Read more

Girl on the desk was very helpfull.. I was very sorry that I could not use my I-pad or I- phone in my room, only in the pub or lounge, but we both would love to come back anytime, taxi to the subway was only 3.50 that was perfect to.
