Howard Johnson Downtown Kamloops - Kamloops

This particular Howard Johnson is conveniently located close to almost anything you would want to eat. For me, Kamloops is a nice spot to stop in the middle of an otherwise long drive and really just need to recharge before I drive again the next day, without having to pay 150 and up just for a place to get some sleep.

The hotel was a little run down but kept clean enough with a little fridge and complimentary coffee maching, the price was right. What we really liked was that it was pet friendly as we had our pup with us. They need to know this in advance though as they like to give pet owners the bottom floor rooms which is nice. Do not waste you money. The receptionist was helpful and pleasant. The hotel needs to be torn down. Everything about it was worn out. Linens were thread bare and stained. Beds are old and sagging. This was a great hotel, it is walking distance to the convention centre and Riverside Park plus lots of fast food and dine-in restaurants nearby. The rate was affordable and the area was quiet considering it faces a major road (we were in back).

Check in was excellent as we arrived 8 hrs early and they let was go to our room at no extra charge. The room was very neat & welcoming, housekeeping was super friendly and courtious. A room at this hotel was so small that we could not find a place for our 3 suitcases or computer. Instead of 2 double beds this room should have had only 1. While not "dirty" the room is aged, dank and had a slight "old" smell.

Upon arrival, we were given two double beds, when we had reserved a king online. The owner/front desk agent would not change the room or verify the booking online. In the room, we discovered the TV was not working. The owner looked at it, played with it, then went and called Shaw cable. He then informed us Shaw would have to come the next day to fix […] it. The price was good, but water tap in bathroom ran constantly, and some woman knocked on my door who looked pretty sketchy, said "Oh, he doesn't live here anymore!" and then took off (thankfully). Location was alright.

The finish on the bathtub needs re-done. I enjoy baths but, won't have one because of the finish being wore off made the tub look dirty. The air freshner was over powering. I have asthma and we needed to leave the door open to air out room.
