"Wonderful hotel, location excellent."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 11, 2012
This hotel was so close to Banff's high street for shops and restaurants I couldn't of asked for a better location. It was also not so close to hear the night clubs. 5 minute walk tops, lovely. Hotel very clean, staff very helpful. Would recommend this to all my friends and family going to stay over at Banff.

Any time we have stayed at the Douglas Fir Resort we have had a great vacation. You can't beat looking out your balcony doors and seeing a snow covered mountain or deer wandering below. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly.

"Hotel Stuck in the 80's"
I though I took a walk back in time. Just had that old feeling. Did not see an elevator, had to carry my bag up a flight of stairs. Overall it was a place to shower and sleep. looked like the oldest hotel on the street. Not worth what I paid in my opinion.
"Old hotel, subpar rooms"
The hotel is older but don't expect it to be quaint either. Heater was on constantly and this was in July. Rooms have a worn out appearance. Our balcony was facing rooms in the hotel next door about thirty feet away.

"Nice place to stay for a break"
Nice place to stay for a break, conveniently locate in Banff and at a walking distance (15 min) from Greyhound Bus stop
"Banff Voyager Inn"
Very old and run down. Small rooms, no air conditioning. No elevators to upper floors, had to carry luggage up a flight of stairs. Our room was never cleaned between night stays. Expensive for what we got. No breakfast was served.
"Banff Voyager Inn"
A nice place to stay - about a 10 minute walk to downtown, which was a very nice walk! I would stay there again!
"No Air Condition or Fans in Room"
I would be very sad had it been very hot! We could have stood at least a fan in the room.
"Banff Voyager Inn"
The hotel seems to be an old one. There is heating system in the room but no cooling system; it's very hot at night as the temperature is not ajustable. There's no lift in the hotel, you may get difficulties if you carry big luggage and unfortunately you will be staying on upper floors.
"Comfortable but noisy residents"
The hotel was comfortable and the staff friendly. Good wifi in the room. Walls pretty thin and you can her other guests. Hotel is on far end of town. Advise that you have 2 dollar coins available to board buses into main part of town as no change is given. One dollar for seniors

"Banff Voyager Inn"
Hotel was within walking distance for us as a group of young people to the heart of Banff ave. (10mins approx.) Shutulls or bus to downtown and all ski areas were readily available and convienant. Hotel personnal very friendly and accomidating. Very informative on getting around the area etc. Lots of parking. (monitored)
We very much liked our stay in the Voyagers Inn in Banff, especially the swimming pool and hot tub. The price-quality rate was very good.
"Convenient and quiet hotel on main road"
A nice surprise was the local bus to and from the center of town for those days when we were just too tired from hiking etc. After we requested a refrigerator, it was promptly delivered to our room. The only negative was lack of an elevator; Not a problem except when carrying luggage.
"Express breakfast"
A boiled egg and fruit would have been a nice addition to the breakfast.

"Banff Voyager Inn, Banff, Canada"
Let me begin by saying the beds were some of the best beds I have ever slept on. The pillows were excellent. This is a great sleeping hotel. Having said that, not knowing the hotel did not have an elevator could have been a real problem if we had knee, repiratory, or heart problems. Negotiating 3 flights of stairs 3 and 4 times a day to get to our car […] in the parking garage was kind of a hassel. In todays world one expects to have an elevator where multilple levels are concerned. The garage parking on the right side of the building had 3 problems: 1. It had a lake the size of Lake Louise which eliminated half of the parking spaces. 2. The parking spaces were far too narrow. We had to let passengers out of the car before entering the allowed space. 3. The garage was strewn with leaves and dirt and as a result the grime stuck to shoes and was carried into the cars. Breakfast lacked protein and fruit or juice but was otherwise acceptable. The rooms were not clean, there was hair and dirt in the corners of the bathroom. The carpet was not well vacuumed, especially in the vanity area outside the bathroom, along all the edges of the room and under furniture. We enjoyed the spa and pool, but there was a lot of mud just outside the door into the building. One of the big positives was that the price was very reasonable. Read more
"Banff Voyager Inn - great rates, good product"
This place is perfect for the younger traveler on budget. Just be aware of the following possible drawbacks: * The hotel is a couple of minutes walk outside the Banff city center. So if you do not like walking you will be annoyed on your way back from dinner. * The hotel has two floors, but no elevator. So you should not mind climbing one floor on the […] stairs. * The breakfast included is rather basic - or "nothing fancy" as one of the waiters put it. If you are looking for fresh fruit, orange juice, cheese, eggs, you will have to upgrade. Read more
"The Banff Voyager Inn in Banff AB.-Not good"
Mattresses could have been softer. No little cooler fridges for ones own items.Hot tub was dirty and scummy after i went back to room i had to shower because i had a bad smell on me.Having kids: pool and hot tub set-up not good because you can't sit in hot tub and watch kids play with both being separated.Only 1 working ice machine: 2 flights down and […] on other side of building.TV reception was bad.Complimentary breakfast was a joke.USUALLY you get bacon, scrambled eggs, make your own waffles, cereal, toast, fruit, muffins.ALL they had was cereal, toast, muffins and yogurt. "Voyager Inn"
Ughh. No AC! In the middle of summer. Staff are helpful. Moved to a different hotel adjacent to them and also owned by them for an upgrade and price increase. Never had I stayed in a hotel without AC, except once in Japan. I should have asked.
The only thing I did not like that they asked for $100 damage deposit and I was not informed about it by Hotels.com and the fact that there was no elevator. I honestly enjoyed the Inns of Banff more the night before

"not great...."
small room, didn't give us queen beds even though that is what we booked. Old, customer services was pretty poor, and the food not so good. Plus it is really far down banff ave, like a 20 min walk to the stores and restaurants.
"Worst continental breakfast ever."
The hotel itself was fine with a heated pool, tub and sauna. The continental breakfast was so bad that we won't be returning. The service at the restaurant was also very poor.
"not the best but its cheaper"
I would only stay there if I was on a budget again, not the cleanest hotel but It s not gross either. The shower didnt work very well and the room was always really hot . I guess you get what you pay for
"Banff Voyager Inn"
It was a decent hotel for the price. Breakfast included was satisfactory. The only negative was cell phone reception as the building is concrete.
"old outside, but new rooms"

"not happy"
I was not happy with my room as when I got back from that evening and went to bed I could smell something that was not pleasant , when trying to find out what the smell was at around 1 a.m. to my surprise it was coming from the side of my bed and again to my surprise it was from a person that had been sick all over the side of the bed , This is not […] what I paid for and I am still waiting for someone to call me about this matter it is now 3 days later and still waiting ............. "Not Bad for the Cost"
Walking Distance to the liquor store, its in the hotel. The restaurant staff and food was good.
The hotel is located on the main street which is great as it's close to all other shops and restaurants. The room was clean but all the appliances were old. It needs some touch up with this aspect. The restaurant and the service was very good.

"parking was limited"
Parking was limited there should be enough parking spaces for hotel guests without having to circle the lot multiple times, no hair dryer in the room, hotel needs some upgrades
"The only good thing was the pool..."
Not a great location, rooms were disappointing and small. The beds were disgusting and our tv didn't even work rIght... Never reccomend it!! Oh and it was not worth what we paid...

"Voyager - Price"
We chose this hotel based on its affordability, for the rate we paid the accomodations were on par and exactly what we needed. Whne travelling to Banff we spend most of our time snowboarding or sight seeing so if you're just looking for a clean comfortable place to sleep and clean-up this hotel meets your needs.
"Banff Voyager Inn - needs to have some fresh air"
We stayed one night right after New Year's hustle and bustle in Banff. The room allocated is half underground. We had to open the veranda door when we stepped in the room to get stuffy air out of the room. Thank goodness the weather was unreasonably warm considering it's in the middle of winter. We just slept one night watching the 80's old-fashioned […] TV. Read more
"Banff Voyager Hotel"
Very dated and old. It was like going back in time. The price made you think you were getting better. Old bedspreads and blanket with holes in them. Bedding was not long enough to cover you throughout the night. The heating vent was bring sounds and conversations from another room.Could hear clearly was was being said as they partied.

"Banff Voyager Inn"
We enjoyed our stay at the Voyager Inn, Banff. This hotel is the last in the string along the main street heading away from the town centre so not really suitable unless you have a car or enjoy a long walk - about 20 minutes. The in-room WIFI was good, though there was no fridge or microwave. The outdoor pool is heated and there is a hot indoor whirlpool. […] There are also breakfast vouchers available at check-in which will cover a cold buffet breakfast, of pay the difference for a cooked breakfast. Overall we were pleased with the facilities provided. Read more

Our reservation was 'upgraded' to the Spruce Grove Inn right next door.. was very impressed and satisfied with the service of Silvan at reception. Thank you!

"our recent stay at the voyager hotel in banff"
first off, the staff were polite, but seemed a little over whelmed with with only 1 person doing ck-in but many other customers at the same time had problems with sinks, toilets and hot/cold water adjustments.our keys didn't work in the door so we had to have 2 new ones made and they didn't work either.i stood at the counter till they made new ones .we […] had asked for some extra cups and another mug which never arrived.on our way out to a wedding reception at the banff springs hotel i noticed a cleaning cart with some of the above on it and took some back to the room.we returned from the reception at about 120 am and were given 2 new keys for our room.neither one worked.again we went back to the front desk(not too happy) and had the night clerk come and open our door for us and he gave us 2 new keys that actually worked.somewhat frustrated as i'm sure some other guests were.i guess i expected more. "Do Not Stay Here"
This was the dirtiest hotel Ive ever stayed at. We stayed for two nights and room service did not make beds or clean our room. Pool area was very dirty. Did not let kids go swimming.. Sheets were dirty, vents clogged with dirt, tub stained, rugs in room look like they were not vacuumed or cleaned in months, stained.. Very unsanitary.
This hotel was overall clean and comfortable but a bit outdated. There is no elevator in the hotel which can be problematic when you have a lot of heavy luggage.
"A place to stay overnight"
If you're absolutely trying to save money and need a bed for the night, then go ahead. Customer service is mediocre. The building is old and it shows in its facilities which are a little outmoded themselves. If you can spend another $10-$20, try a different place.
"Voyageur Inn, Banff, Alberta"
The staff said what do you expect, this is an old hotel when they told us there was no Air Conditioning. It was hot and miserable. They should advertise that there is no air conditioning. It is expected that any hotel that I book should have air conditioning, I shouldnt have to ask. It was too noisy to even leave the window open, trains passing by and […] too many parties going on in the next rooms. Read more
