Hotel is perfectly appointed and staffed entirely by very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for the business traveler and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The breakfast in the morning was brilliant.

Booked this hotel because we were visiting family in the area. With the exception of the view from from our room, which was exceptional, the hotel could be described as adequate at best. The rooms were clean but unloved. The staff were efficent but unwelcoming. The food was edible but uninspiring. Our thoughts were that the hotel sets minimum standards […] and on the occasion of our visit they did just that. You got the impression that you are just another guest that has to be processed. My son and I stayed for 2 nights. It is a lovely and accommodating hotel tucked away in lovely peaceful location with great views. The rooms were well furnished with plenty of tea/coffee making ingredients (my son loved the hot chocolate). The beds were comfy, the view great and a good selection of TV Channels. firstly , i must point out the bad points. due to the fact that there was a wedding taking place in the main hotel, my wife , 11year old son and i were put in the anex block just the other side of the car park. when we got in our room we had a look around and noticed that the shower was very dirty and clearly had not been cleaned as there was a used […] bar of soap left in a dirty soap dish. also the shower head was covered in black mold. there was no way that we were going to use that shower . when i told the receptionist she said that a maid would come down and clean the shower (which she did). we asked to change rooms anyway because if the shower hadn`t been cleaned , what else hadn`t been cleaned. we were given a different room which was much better . i cant say that we had the best nights rest we`ve ever had as the two pillows each which we were given were very flat and so i had to put a folded towel under mine which wasn`t very comfortable. also , the room was very hot even though the windows were open. the tv had sky sports which was great untill about 9.30 pm when a sign appeard on the screen saying that the sky box was about to go into standby mode unless we pressed the red button . as we didn`t have a red button we changed chanelsls and missed the rest of the football. now for the good points . the breakfast was really nice with loads of choices and plenty of it, also the surroundindg area was very nice and quiet. On arrival there was obviously a wedding as guests were outside smoking. After a controversy with reception staff over what we had actually paid and what their system said, we were told as there was a wedding they had put us in the annexe as it would be quieter. Room 28. It was pouring with rain and we had again to walk to the other end of the car park […] down a VERY STEEP incline to this building. We were not told it was round the other side of this building. I had difficulty getting the door open with the card supplied. There were no lights on and when we pushed the button these had gone off before we climbed the winding stairway to the FIRST floor - the reverse button had gaffa tape across it. The walls were evidently in the process of being decorated although not recently.The room stunk, was minute and hadn't been cleaned in months. The bathroom itself was clean, although it was small the toilet abutting the wall. The floor behind the bathroom door was thick with dirt. There were none of the complimentary toileteries just a soap which was obviously needed to wash your hands. The pillows were very cheap, nasty and lumpy as was the duvet. Not what I expect from a Best Western, nor what was seen of the rooms illustrated. It was one of your personnel that persuaded my wife to book here rather than a hotel in Clitheroe. We both had fillet steak and this was superb, the restaurant being accessed through a separate outside entrance. Breakfast was ok but marmalade did seem to be a problem. We sincerely wished we had gone straight home from Bolton but my wife wanted to go to Skipton. On checking out the same receptionist was very embarrassed when I told her of the state of the room, but emphasised they do allow dogs. My comment was, please santinise the room afterwards. My wife still had a sore throat and bunged nose from sitting on one of the tub chairs when we arrived which on standing immediately was seen to have an inch thick band of dust round it. Stayed for one night with my husband. Hotel room was nice and we were lucky enough to get a view over the gardens and watched bats flying across the grounds from our window in the evening. We enjoyed a drink on the peaceful terrace from the bar and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon in the grounds. The drinks were expensive £3.50 for a pint of fosters but […] we treated ourselves. That evening we had a club sandwich with wedges and prawn sandwich with chips and these were both very nice. Would stay again as a peaceful escape. Read more

Country Trapp Hotel I loved this place; it was like arriving at the dirty dancing film set. Quirky, fresh as it is set in the country side. We were staying due to us working in the area only for 1 night, such a shame as I really would have loved to stay and take advantage of the place. I stayed in this hotel during a visit to see family. The staff were wonderful and the hotel's exterior is stunning. However, there were some bad points: 1. On arrival, a kitchen porter was eating his dinner outside the kitchen, in full view of any arriving guests. I dislike this, although I know other people don't mind. 2. The room was unbearably hot, […] and the window was chained so it could only be opened slightly. There was only a duvet provided (which was rather thick) and no blanket, so I had to get a towel from the bathroom and slept with that covering me. I have very poor circulation and am usually very cold all of the time, so for me to comment on the temperature meant it must be hot! My partner was literally dying from heat exhaustion! 3. The TV switched itself off as it showed an error with the sky box, which could be rectified if we pressed a certain button on the remote. We didn't have the remote we needed, so all channels were lost. 4. The meal we had was actually the worst meal we have ever eaten. There were only two vegetarian options (tomato pasta or a cheese and onion pie). I'd had pasta for lunch, so reluctantly went for the pie with chips. My partner had scampi and chips. His scampi was burnt and the chips were still hard and my pie...well, disgusting springs to mind. I do have to point out that the waitresses were lovely, although the barman was very slow with every job. Read more
