The room was good !! We paid for a harbor view room and to say there was a view is a real reach. We were on the 10th floor of a 20 story building. There MAY have been some harbor views on higher floors but probable not. All-in-all it was a nice place and a good room in a great location.

We had a good stay at the Breakfree. It's a great location on George and close to Darling Harbor and the central train station. The only thing that did not meet my expectations was the size of the bed and the bathroom. I got a good rate and was able to get transportation to the airport, but no transportation from the airport to the hotel.

"Weekend at the Pitt St. Ibis"
All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. Specially Immanuel,, at the Breakfast room, who makes a point of remembering peoples'names and room numbers. "Beware of "upgrade" to The Apartment"
I stayed here for 1 Saturday night, thinking it would be a better option to get a good night sleep as opposed to having to go all the way home after a late concert.At check-in we were asked if we'd like to stay in The Apartment which had a full kitchenette that was usually reserved for special guests, at no extra cost as they were overbooked.We were […] escorted as it was out a fire exit and on a balcony.The staff member pointed over the balcony to an open air bar below but said we shouldn't worry as our room was soundproof - IT WASN'T.We got back to the hotel by midnight and the music from the bar was absolutely blaring.After an hour it was getting to be too much so I went down to reception to say we were very disturbed in our room and couldn't sleep.The man on night duty was extremely unapologetic, did not make eye contact with me and at one stage even said "What do you want me to do about it?" By 3:30am the music stopped.On check-out I explained again to the woman on reception (she was much more apologetic and friendly) our uncomfortable night stay.She offered a complementary bottle of wine or breakfast, but we declined as we don't drink and we had a train to catch. I feel we were chosen to stay in that room as we are young and perhaps they thought we wouldn't mind. The most unsatisfactory part was that we were specifically told the room was soundproof. The Ibis is very much like what you get in any city across the world so you already sort of know what you're going to be getting. The hotel is in desperate need of renovation, it is dated and the hotel room smelled of cigarettes despite of being a non-smoking room for a long time. The smell permiated everything in the room. "Attention to detail - come on!"
We arrived at the hotel to find that the room agreement that we had accepted was not seen to (1 queen bed for 2 adults and 1 child??!!) although I had actually emailed 2 months before arrive to ensure we had enough beds etc. This was resolved quite quickly. On our return visit to Ibis World Square - the bed situation was sorted, however the housekeeping needs some real attention. I moved the single bed to one side as I dropped something on the floor and found a pill under the bed as well as a plethora of hairclips and dust (we had our 5 year old son with us). I bought this to the attention of the desk staff in the morning and it wasn't even acknowledged. The air conditioning was also hopeless. The parking outlandishly expensive $35 overnight. While the rooms are okay . . . they need an overhaul . . . the sideboard under the window has the top chipped and lifting off . . . carpet a bit worn out. Bed was good and bathroom clean if not a little dated. This is a cheapish hotel and as such does the job. Good for a night or two. "Great Value for Money"
My partner and I only meant to stay a night in the city for the sake of convenience. It was overall a pleasant surprise considering the price we paid. We had reserved a room with a queen bed for the evening, however as room requests for bookings via Expedia are treated as mere requests and not fully confirmed, we were given a room with two single beds. […] We called the concierge stating this, to which they replied that all the queen bed rooms had been booked out. Concierge however offered free buffet breakfast to compensate, which was great. When we checked-in we also requested a room on a higher floor - we managed to get the 15th floor (out of 17) which offered a better view (although still not great - but can't complain due to the hotel's location) and less noise. However, due to the nature of Pitt St and lack of adequate sound-proofing we could still hear occasional sirens etc The room itself was very adequate. As we were only staying the one night the smaller size was no problem, but may have been if we were staying longer. The walls are in need of a paint job and the bathroom in need of a bit of bleach in the shower but was otherwise very clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was adequate, especially as ours was free. However, may I recommend that longer tongs with rubber grippings be provided for the hot food (as they were very hot and difficult to handle). "Not worth the price"
For the price of the hotel, I didn't think it was worth it because for a similar price I have stayed at better hotels in Sydney. The location is good to get around, but we didn't enjoy our stay here. First, our sheets had a stain in it before we even used it. We told room service, but it didn't get changed. Next, the walls were really thin and we could […] hear people talking in the room next to us, people walking and chatting down the corridor to get to the elevator, and even people upstairs! We stayed on a saturday night, and next to the entrance was a long queue into a club/pub. The noise from the pub and the people could still be heard in our room all night, so we didn't get a great sleep that night. And then on the last day of our stay when we had to leave, we had to return a room card that they had lent us to use the lockers. "Mouldy bathroom and smelly room"
I suppose it should be expected to a degree for low-price hotels, but being a frequent (weekly) traveller to Sydney I stay in a lot of hotels in a similar price range, hence I have to say that this hotel stay was well below par. I must also preface this by saying that I did not complain to hotel management nor request a room change, so it is quite […] possible that I just lucked out and that the hotel would have corrected the issues if I had raised them. However, my view is that my room should not have been offered in the state that it was in in the first place. When I arrived at the room, the first thing that I noticed was the smell. It was as if someone had recently used the toilet to do number 2s. Just awful. I was too tired to do anything about it, so I just sprayed my deoderant around and put up with it. The next thing that I noticed was the bathroom had a worrying amount of mould spores on the walls and cieling. Again, my own fault for putting up with it... After having a shower, I noticed that the reason for the smell and the mould was that the exhaust vent was choked up with dust and hence was not working. I poked out some of the dust with a pen, and then all of a sudden the exhaust started sucking air like a dyson. After that, my 3 day stay was a lot better as it exhausted out the smells that had been sitting in the room for so long. Amazing that something so small as a blocked exhaust can have such an impact, but I do wonder how staff did not notice the smell, the mould, and the no-doubt build up of moisture resulting from a blocked exhaust. The funniest part was that I got a little warning card left in my room on the 2nd day reminding me that it is a non-smoking room - I don't even smoke! I realised then that some chunks of dust had fallen out of the exhaust vent in the bathroom, looking suspiciously like cigarette ashes. Even then, they didn't realise what was going on!
