see all hotels in GlendaleThey are doing a great job overhauling the hotel. There was construction on the adjacent lot and construction on some of the other rooms so it was a little noisy in the morning. Great friendly service, and Portos bakery is just down the block. Overall this will be a great place once they finish the remodel.
"Nice Hotel for the Money BUT Be Aware of Negatives"
Very Nice Little Boutique Type Hotel near Los Angeles and a couple blocks from some very intriguing urban/commerical development. Very clean & comfortable room ready when I got there. Noise was no issue as I was at the other end of the building where the Jazz Club was located. But be aware that there are no elevators and you have at least one set of […] stairs to climb just to check in. Definitely not a hotel for the elderly or handicapped. Free Parking in the rear Bank Lot was also a nice touch, but Hotel wanted you to park on second story of lot AND no elevator, connection ramp, OR even stairs to get down to ground level.....had to walk down the descending Car Lane to get to back entrance of hotel in street alley. Again still nice to get free parking, just be careful sharing road with departing motorists. Read more
"Awesome place"
Super clean super friendly incredibly helpful
"Not a good idea to stay here"
Spa tub stained with dirt in non-skid bottom...filthy. I would NEVER get into this tub. A/C fickle. Paid more for larger room, ya right...tiny rooms. Great view of brick wall 3 feet away. Tiny fiberglass shower stall. Slippery floor tile. SPRING bed, cheap. No closet. Steep stairs. No elevator. Tissue walls, could hear next door tv and outside. Great […] free internet. So, come here if you want a terrible room and great internet. Read more
"Great little boutique hotel!"
This hotel is close to home, yet far enough to feel a world away! It's an adorable little boutique hotel at very reasonable rates. My husband and I try to plan a little getaway here whenever we can!
"Brandwood - awesome great location!"
Close to Glendale galleria and the Americana! and right next to Portos bakery what else can you ask for?! rooms are spotless! beds are comfy! must see to appreciate! :)
"Nice hole in the wall."
This place is great. You would never guess its a hotel from the outside. The staff was nice and the room was very nice and comfortable. The place is beyond what the price is set at. Will definitely stay there again if im in Glendale.
The walls are too thin and in the morning you can hear everyone taking a shower and getting ready. Also there is not elevator in the building.

"great little hotel in glendale"
if you need a simple room in the glendale area, this is a great inexpensive choice. it's a great location to minimize my time spent in traffic when i am working in the valley or canyon country, etc. if you keep expectations low, you will be pleasantly surprised by how much you get for your money. i didn't mind the two flights or the [parking around […] the corner... but i'm from nyc so i guess i'm used to those things. you can park right in front at a meter very inexpensively - actually free from 10pm til 7 am, and you can prepay for the am if you're not getting up that area. i stay in a lot of hotels and if i am paying this is a great much warmer alternative to the cookie-cutter business motels Read more
"Overnight Elegance"
I fully enjoyed my overnight stay at Brandwood Hotel in Glendale, California! Not only was the hotel room comfortable and spotless, but the hotel was charming and accommodating. Jax's Bar and Grill next door was delicious and entertaining in the evening, and the Porto's bakery down the street was amazingly tasty. Fabulous weekend!
"Clean and No Frills"
The Hotel Brandwood is a nice, simple hotel; it reminded me of the "rooms above a pub" format that I've seen in Europe, actually. The entire hotel is on the second and third floors of a downtown Glendale building, and while the views aren't impressive at all, the bed was reasonably comfortable and the room was clean. The neighborhood is good - there […] are bakeries (including a Panera) within walking distance, and the hotel is convenient to the Ventura freeway without being right on top of it. If you're the type who just needs a clean, relatively quiet place and doesn't care about views or extras, this is the place for you. Read more
1st floor a little noisy due to the fact that your over a jazz club try to get a room on the 2nd floor
"Great but stairs"
I noticed on the internet mostly complaints about the stairs. I do have to agree - be ready for them. The parking is OK (at least free). My wife loved the room, the renovation, and the bathroom. Overall we would stay again. But beware it isn't a "typical" hotel.
"Hotel Brandwood in Glendale old and small rooms"
Our stay here was fine, however we had 2 double beds squeezed into a small room fit for one double bed. This Hotel was built in the 1920's, no elevator, a second floor walk-up to the desk and a 3rd floor walk-up to the room. Views out the windows are looking at brick walls of adjacent buildings 10 feet away. It was safe, affordable, clean with courteous […] staff, in a nice "downtown" neighborhood. Parking was very convenient and free. Really no services at the Hotel. This is an old, funky, safe place, take it for what it is. Read more
"Fabulous location!"
The Brandwood occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors of a nicely remodeled older building; one must walk up to the 2nd floor for check-in. We booked this hotel after reading reviews mentioning the lack of elevators, so we were quite prepared for the stairs. Our Q room was small, but neatly done. The pedestal sink provided little room for toiletries, and the […] old-fashioned bureau did not allow clothes to hang to their full length. The shower was so tiny that shaving one's legs was rather tricky. Noises above us continued until late, and children upstairs woke early. Because of this, we asked to be moved to an upstairs room for the rest of our stay. The desk staff, who seemed to be mainly international students, were very pleasant. We were willing to wait until housekeeping cleaned a vacated room, and found upon moving that we had been upgraded to a Deluxe King! The room itself was larger, and bathroom space was considerably larger, with a bathtub & plenty of counter space for toiletry items. Upstairs was MUCH more quiet, with no noise above our heads. The rooms were not huge, but sufficient for coming back to at the end of the day. The best part about this hotel is it's location. Close to the freeways, it is very easy to get out and about. We found, however, that we didn't need a vehicle to get to some great eateries. The famous Porto's is literally several doors down from the Brandwood, and you don't need to pay the parking meters if you walk! Raffi's Place on Broadway is within walking distance as well, with sizable dinner portions of lamb kebab, grilled fish, hummus, and other Middle Eastern specialties. The choreographed fountains at the Americana at Brand make for a lovely evening outdoors, while enjoying one of the Cheesecake Factory's specialties. We were prepared for a smaller boutique hotel with lots of steps, and were quite happy with the Brandwood. We would definitely stay there again, and be happiest with a larger room on the top floor. "Wonderful hideaway"
Booked this room last minute and didn't know what to expect. The hotel staff was very nice, he upgraded us to a larger room. If you want quiet, choose an upstairs room, we were awoken by kids in the room above us. Also there are alot of stairs, no elevator. It is hard to find the entrance as it's very small. There are lots of good restaurants and the […] parking structure is located behind the hotel. The bed and pillows were really comfortable and we really felt a sense of privacy. We would definately stay there again. Read more
"Hotel Brandwood"
Parking not real convenient. Nor is it easy to get into the hotel. You have to go up a couple of flights of stairs to get in and out. Kinda weird. The hotel was clean though and in a goo location.
"Verry Nice and Friendly Staff"
Perfect hotel, with the perfect location, and a very friendly staff. I was in town on business and forgot a few things and the hotel staff helped me print out forms and even helped with other things so that I could make it on time to my meeting. I highly recomed this hotel to others and looking forward to coming back for my next visit! :-)

"Perfect!"
Sooooo close to a nice main street of walking to all kinds of restaurants, bookstores, etc. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful at all times. Great Bath & Body Works products :) The rooms are a bit small, but you're in LA to be out & about, so it wasn't a problem.
"Stay at the Brandwood"
My stay here was very pleasant. The people here are very accommodating and the amenities are upscale. I do not have any complaints, I think they have done a good job in remodeling this place into a luxurious boutique hotel. The Brandwood definitely delivered to my standards and I will be back here again soon!
"Brandwood Hotel-Glendale,CA"
The room was small but the beds were comfortable and linens were an upgrade. The bathroom window was cracked and covered with tape, the tub faucet dripped and the only hook was broken. There was no elevator and we climbed four flights of stairs to arrive at our room. Construction was ongoing inside, even on Thanksgiving Day. We paid an additional $25 […] daily to have our daughter stay with us despite already having two double beds! We booked four nights and only three hours after check-in wanted to cancel only the last night and were informed we could not! We had to request a third towel for the room, which should have been provided. The desk attendant was only present about half of the time. Read more
"quaint but it will do"
Good price. Has small somewhat quaint room up a long flight of stairs. Parking is behind the building on the other side of the block. The neighborhood was pretty nice and I felt safe there.
"Nice hotel. Nice location"
This place is very nice and well - kept. The location is good and the staff is friendly. the room was very nice. However, the pipes in the building are old, so when someone next to your room or above you takes a shower, you will hear it.
"Brandwood Hotel"
Although there was no elevator, it wasn't a big deal and it was definitely worth it to stay here. I loved the atmosphere and I loved the old style feeling of it. Super clean and very nice staff. Loved it! I would definitely stay here again
"I wanted to like this hotel ... but I didn't"
The owners bought a rundown historic hotel and have attempted to make it into a boutique hotel. I am sorry to say that the attempt is not a success. The halls are very dingy and the hotel smells funny. There is no elevator, and the lobby is two flights up. The parking is across the alley and the alley door has a very strange access system. The room […] was nice, but it was very warm and every time we left, housekeeping came in and turned off the air conditioning. The folks at the front desk, though nice, didn't speak English that well. They also had a lot of trouble working their own computer program and had to cross out and hand write in the amounts. All in all, I wouldn't stay here again. Read more
"Very charming hotel"
Nice location, very charming and recently remodeled. The hotel is a walk-up and doesn't have an elevator, but hey, so are lots of charming hotels in Europe...it's located in an old remodeled building. The bar/restaurant downstairs is interesting and attracts good local bands...
"Surprisingly nice hotel"
Little old fashioned boutique hotel in an ideal location in Glendale. Close to major routes and near the lovely Glendale shopping area. Hotel was clean and comfortable, and staff were pleasant. Only drawback is that it is on the second floor with no elevator, so if you have heavy luggage be prepared...
"Older/historic hotel - know what you are getting"
Brandwood did everything they could with an older building. Great furniture, good bed, etc. But older buildings are loud in general so expect to hear the pipes, the trash truck going through the alley, etc. If you have to be up by 6:30 AM this hotel will work well for you.
"Brandwood Hotel in Glendale, CA"

Great Hotel!
"Brandwood Hotel in Glendale, CA"
I enjoyed my stay here. I will stay here again. The rooms are classy, beds are comfortable, hotel is quiet and safe, and the staff was very nice.
Good location for shopping but limited space. Hotel people r nice.
"Never more.."
There is no elevator. My room was in the second floor ...can you imagine?. Is a third class hotel...
"Little Gem"
I really enjoyed the condition, cleanliness, convenience, and comfort this little gem had to offer. The staff was very professional and helpful, and the rate was very reasonable. I will definitely come back to stay at the Brandwood Hotel upon my next visit. The most fantastic feature was definitely the location on Brand Blvd. It was less than 10 min […] to the Americana, and a host of restaurants and shops were found on the way there. This was really an outstanding experience. The only thing that this hotel needs is a reworking of the flow of the lobby, with more seating area, etc., and better quality decor. Read more
"Brandwood Hotel - Glendale"
Awesome little place... located within walking distance of everything fun to do in Glendale, Ca. Only downside, it's on the 2nd floor and there's no elevator so if you're handicapped, you're screwed! Overall however, A++

"Brandwood"
This hotel met the expectations I had after reading all of the other reviews here. Good value for LA, expect to climb some stairs, and a good central location if Glendale is where you want to be. Dig it.
"Pleasant stay."
My expierience and the Brand Hotel was rather pleasant. I enjoyed the friendly staff and the surrounding neighborhood was comforting and relaxing. The rooms are small, but very clean and up to date. I will definately be returning to the Brand hotel.
"Great location, dingy inside"
If you need to use an elevator, the hotel is all steps. It is an old building and smells a little musty. Carpets are dingy. Staff was quite nice and friendly. There are few "services" at the hotel, and the rooms are small. The location in the center of Glendale is great. half the rooms overlook an alleyway. (mine did). One has a sense of being in a […] dark hotel room from the 50's. The price, however, was great. Truth be told, one gets far more in a Residence Inn or the like. The best thing about the hotel is the location. I am not recommending it only because I think one can do far better at roughly the same price. Read more
"Very satisfied"
The room was very nice, clean and comfy. The service was excellent. Front desk was helpful with directions and anything else pretty much. Location is right next to Porto's Bakery, which is a must! Felt safe in the surrounding neighborhood. All hotel staff was excellent, very friendly. The only downsides were the steep stairs and lack of elevator, as […] well as the small size of room and bathroom. Otherwise a great place to stay. Read more

"Brandwood Hotel - For Athletes Only"
On the positive side. The staff is friendly,The Hotel is well located to visit Glendale or downtown Los Angeles. The San Fernando Valley is also just a short drive away. The small rooms are clean well appointed and very attractive. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows had a wonderful smell, Here is the negative.. The plumbing is noisy and the walls […] are thin. What the hotel lacks in elevators it makes up for in stairs. If you are not an athlete, If you are not in great shape, don't think about staying there. Four day later I still have a sore back from carrying luggage up and down those killer stairs. The rear stair case is worse than the front. Your ad should say in big bold red letters. Warning!!! Extreme stairs!! If you have a bad heart, bad knees, breathing problems or a bad back please pick another hotel. There really is No elevator. And one is very much needed!!! Russ CA Read more
"Brandwood Hotel: down the street fro Portos bakery"
The location/entrance is hard to find but once you figure it out, it is pretty easy to park and enter in the back. The other reviews mentioned the stair case and yes it true: steep and could be trouble if you have a lot of heavy or large luggage. The front desk staff was great: helpful, kind and genuine. His name was Kyler? Overall it is great for […] a quick one night stay or a launching pad for all day activity where you come back to room and crash. The room is a bit tight but I appreciate the cleanliness, the desk, remodeled bathroom, and coconut lim verbena toiletries. Read more
"worst lying management in my life!"
I and my wife arrived at hotel late afternoon. Check-in was smooth and everything went fine until we entered our room in second floor. After lots of steep stairways we realized room was very small and packed with furniture, no light whatsoever because window was facing next building few feet away. I could swallow this because we just need a good night […] sleep. But few seconds later we heard very loud humming noise coming from above. I have immediately ran to reception and asked to change our room. A girl at reception said it is not possible and I have to talk to manager!?. He came out very polite and smiling and explained that this is their AC ventilation noise and promised me that this noise will stop at midnight. I again asked him if he can change our room and he smilingly refused saying all rooms are the same (noisy) and AC timer will shut down at midnight. Again I asked him if he is sure that noise will stop at midnight and he replied that he is a manager for 10 years and he should know (what-nerve-that-I-even-ask attitude). So me and me wife had to wait until midnight to see if this will happen. Nothing happened! I waited few minutes and called reception and couple of minutes some guy turned up and when hearing for him self, apologized and promised to call manager to see what can be done. I waited for an hour because there WAS NO WAY to sleep whatsoever! Called a reception again and guy told me there is nothing he can do, because he is not able to change our room and only manager can do that! So we got stuck in this room until morning when I called hotels.com and explained this situation. They called this manager and he refused to compensate and even to apologize to me and my wife. After confronting him directly he than made a story that we did complain about AC and not humming noise and that this is historical building and that we are only customers in his career to complain about that. He also said they are completely full so he could not change a room. This wa Read more
"Very decent hotel, but watch for the stairs"
We were happy with our stay at the Brandwood Hotel. The room was very small, but very clean and comfortable. The front desk area was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance of a number of restaurants and two shopping centers. You get free parking in a downtown area. We were in sufficient condition […] to go up and down the two flights of stairs to get to the reception desk and the first floor of the hotel. (It was a strain for me because I had a back injury that made walking difficult. I wasn't going to let two flights of stairs defeat me.) I do not recommend this hotel if you are impaired or cannot climb the stairs. There is an additional story with rooms! The bathroom has no counter, so don't expect to spread out toiletries or cosmetics. The room is small enough to make 1-2 nights acceptable. A longer stay could become claustrophobic. Don't expect any help with your luggage. Use a carry-on or smaller size bag(s). Other boutique hotels always have offered to or insisted on carrying luggage to the room. Not the Brandwood. Nonetheless, the location and proximity to diverse restaurants and shopping, condition of the hotel and room, and friendliness of the staff merits a recommendation for a short stay. Just beware the stairs. Read more
