This hotel is in good condition. Hot tub / spa was clean and truly hot. Nice to have after a day of snowmobiling. Surrounding area has a good casual dining pub or fast food, and various stores for whatever you might have forgotten. My only caution with the location for snowmobiles is that it is not easy to get out to the main #3 trail. As long as the […] roads are snow covered, you can weave through parking lots for about 4 blocks. They have a private trail we were not able to follow, but in fairness, it was snowing hard covering even the main trails. I would stay here again. Read more

The staff was very friendly and they were helpful getting us a rollaway and so quickly. The breakfast was soooo good. Love those waffles. Because it was move in weekend at the college the hotel was full and had a waiting list. This did not keep the staff from doing a very good job in a very timely manner. Well done.

Our stay was comfortable and the people working there were nice. I would rather stay in downtown Houghton, but we did find lots of convenient stuff near our hotel including a delicious ice cream shop. The linens were a bit threadbare and the low flow water fixtures are annoying, like anywhere else. The air conditioner was loud, and it kept shutting off and turning back on every few minutes, which was distracting. This was a quick visit--to pick up child from MTU. All was very fine except--I was expecting a refridgerator in our room--and the hotel book said "in every room" but the front desk said only in the suites. Since it was April, the cooler could stay in the car and be cool enough. The front desk person did offer to try to find one for us if we needed it--but […] we just left things in the car. We enjoyed the hotel, BUT their key card system did NOT work..which was frustrating when trying to get in a side door or your room.....at one point we had over 12 keys to the room, of which none of them worked!!

We arrived early, and called to see if we could get an early check-in, and were pleasantly surprised that we could. The room was great with a quiet location within the motel. Although during the night, we were serenaded by a number of semi-tractors in the parking lot which ran their engines all night long. Sorry to say, the rumble of the engines was […] loud enough to arouse us from our sleep periodically. But, the biggest problem was at checkout. We booked through Expedia, and the front desk clerk was inexperienced and unfortunately alone, and was quite confused by the bill, as it appeared our credit card and address were incorrect on their records. We had a tour to go on, and offered to return in a few hours when the manager would be there. Upon our return, we found everything was fine, but the inconvenience of our time to return was a bit irritating. Nice motel, might stay there again if we're in the area, but will ask to be moved if we see trucks outside our window. Read more

We were very satisfied with our stay. The staff was great. The free breakfast came in handy with a teenage boy along. The breakfast offered waffles, premade cheese, pepper, and onion omeletes, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, muffins and more, (much more than most free breakfasts at hotels.) The pool is small […] and shallow, but really nice after a day of hiking the forests and beaches. There is a hot tub and a kids splash area too. There is a small workout room off the pool that we never tried because we got so much exercise outside. The room was a good size. The bathroom too. The showers worked well. The internet was fast enough for movie downloads and work file transfers. My only issue with the room was that the wall unit air-conditioner liked to stop entirely at about 3 or 4 am, the fan too, which made me wake up from the sound change. The beds were very comfortable though which made up for it. My son and I enjoyed rock-hunting (We found copper!) and the whole family really loved all the parks and natural places up here. It is located near a Walmart but that was convenient for forgotten items from home and never caused too much noise or traffic. Read more
