Excellent location within walking distance and view of the lovely central train station. Cost for standard rooms in the new section of the hotel was a bit high for value, but Executive rooms in the older section were well worth the price. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

While a bit expensive, the room was large and well maintained. For some reason Hotel's in Europe do NOT provide wash clothes; soap and towels but bring your own wash cloth. I checked into this hotel for two nights. When I arrived to my room I felt like I was in bad Flowers in the Attic movie. The room was very old, the carpet ran half way up the wall to create a border and was badly stained and dirty. I would not have walked bare foot on this carpet for all the money in the world! The room reminded me of a bad dorm room […] with twins beds with the box spring showing and low ceiling. The safe in the room must have been the first room safe ever invented, old and outdated like everything else in this room. The room had two twin beds with a night stand in the middle. My guest and I preferred to sleep in the same bed so I called down to the front desk and ask if there was a room with one large bed. She told me that all the rooms had twin beds. After examining the room I noticed that the bathroom was recently remodeled. The bathroom didn't look like it could be part the same hotel room. On my way out that evening I ask if there was another room we could move to because this room was the pits. I was told that the hotel was completely book, but I could come down the next day and change rooms. The next day I called down to the front desks and ask if there was a room available for me to change to? The front desk person said I must come down in order to change rooms. I then pack all of my belongings and head down to the front desk. When I arrived at the front desk I was told that there were no rooms available and that I could check back later in the day. WTH? I explained to the clerk that I just called and was told there was a room available for me to change to. The lady said she didn’t know who I spoke to. After a minute of explaining the conversation, the other clerk finally says she told me there were rooms available, but none ready. ARE YOU SERIOUS? After a minute of this nonsense I told her this situation was out of control and I wanted to check out. She said she could call housekeeping and see if there was a room ready. Hoel is in desparate need of updating. AC room was booked, but AC was not working. Fortunately the night finally cooled off and there was a fan in the room. ( our first clue the hotel knew AC was an issue) Carpet and furniture were old, stained, and in need of replacement. I would not consider this hotel as a 4 star. All in all this hotel was fine. However, I would not necessarily think of this hotel as four star hotel - small details like: only soap (ie no handcream, shampoo, hairconditionier) available in the shower; only freeze-dried coffe in room. Otherwise - just another hotel. Location is very handy - just next to the railwaystation.

This is listed as a 4 start hotel and it is 100% not. Rooms were grubby to the extent of actually being dirty, the room was far to warm and to cool it would mean switching on the air con that sounded like a jet taking off. Staff were slow and unhelpful, sauna area was in complete darkness

This hotel is in a great location, it’s not right down town, but only a 8 min walk & I really like that. Its right next to the train station, so if you aren’t driving, that is a great connivance. The Amrâth Grand Hotel is positioned right across the road from the bus terminal and the train station. Double glazed windows help keep the noise out and the room was clean and a good size. Its an easy walk to everything in town and the staff were very friendly and helpful with any query. The only downside was that I reported that the fridge in the […] room was not working. The juice and food I put it in it went off overnight and had to be thrown out. 3 times I reported it and although the friendly staff said someone would have a look it was never fixed. We would return to this hotel any time we needed accommodation in Maastricht. Our room was a good size, light and overlooked a courtyard. Directly across the road from the railway station it was easy to get to, and although we worried about noise from the station and road, we didn't hear it at all. It was a short walk over the bridge into the center […] of city, but still with places to eat and shop closer to the hotel. Hotel opposite the station and bus terminus so front rooms might be noisy, however our request for a rear room at checkin was fulfilled with a smile. Great location for train travellers like us and handy for the bus to Aachen, too. It is an easy walk into town for shops and restaurants and for sightseeing. The pool was a bonus after a day of sightseeing although the changing areas and pool decor would benefit from updating. Disappointingly we were unable to try the sauna as it is not kept heated during pool opening hours. There is an additional charge for the sauna and it is only available if booked in advance for individual, 45 minute slots, removing the option of a spontananeous ten minute session on returning to the hotel after a tiring day out. Breakfast was excellent, with a very good selection of cold continental buffet and hot cooked food, (the mushrooms were particularly tasty and eggs are cooked to order) breads, cakes and even chocolate sprinkles in three flavours! 20 minuten in de sneeuw bij -8 buiten staan wachten voordat de nachtportie kwam (hij was helaas een beveiligingsronde aan t lopen)! En dat terwijl we vooraf hadden nagevraagd of we binnen konden komen na 12-en.. Ondanks dat compensatie (op welke manier dan ook - gratis ontbijt of korting op de kamer) op zijn plaats zou zijn, werd dit niet aangeboden... […] De kamer was al betaald en t ontbijt al opgeruimd toen we wakker werden. En helaas helaas, de nieuwere kamers die u op internet ziet zijn niet degene die u krijgt, we moesten het met een kamer in het oude gedeelte doen. Dit was werkelijk terug in de tijd, zelfs zo ver terug toen het hotel nog 5 sterren had (was in de badkamer op de muur te lezen). De telefoon heeft een draaischijf en de TV is even breed als diep. Verder twin-bedroom besteld (losse bedden), kregen bedden naast elkaar. Geen probleem, maar als je met vrienden bent toch minder relaxed.. al met al: niet zo professioneel.
