Springmaid Beach Resort - Myrtle Beach

Very nice hotel. Grounds are beautiful. The pier is great. Plenty to do. Beach, mini golf, many pools inside and out. Bring your own beach chairs and beach towels as the hotel does not provide them. You can rent chairs in season. Overall really enjoyed our stay. I would go back. Rooms are bright and very nice.

I booked the hotel with the understanding it was remodeled, but when I checked in they put me in a room with mold hanging from the ceiling. They moved us to an upgrade of the same type room with a larger safe. Not what I expected.

We stayed here for 5 days and actually ended up checking out a day early. Arcade/game room was closed all week. One day it took 3 calls to get clean towels. To list was extremely loud. Neighbors were noisy. Internet connection seldom worked all week. Parking garage was so small to get in and out of. Almost got hit twice.

It was nice , was disappointed that we were in the smaller hotel and on the second floor. When I checked in I asked for the 1st floor because there was no elevator. The resort is centrally located for all activies in Myrtle Beach. We stayed here because of the fishing pier and free minature golf is a plus too. We loved seeing the planes land at the airport right over our balconey. Having two places to eat is a plus too. Would recommend to any family looking for a place to stay with kids. I had searched on hotels.com and picked this one because it was on the beach, fit my budget, and had decent ratings. I was surprised (maybe by my own fault) that it was multiple buildings and not one hotel, but it was easy enough once I found registration. It's a nice resort. We stayed in the middle of February and they are still renovating the resort but our room was outstanding. Very clean with a great view of the ocean. Our room was in an area under contruction and we were not told about it when we checked in or told where to park to avoid the construction and still be close to the room. Since we did not know how to reach the room we went through some construction areas that could have been an issue. The room was newly redone and very attractive.

The only problem I had It was a very cold night the heater ran all night and the room didn't warm to my needs, 62 yr old man. In the am when I wished for a cup of coffee, decaf was all they had!!! The location was wonderful - the last hotel on the stretch, nestled between the Springmaid pier and Myrtle Beach State Park, with an additional pier. The hotel is just enough far away from the boardwalk area that the crowds are not as solid, but close enough if you want to go to that tourist area. Very conveniently located near the newly developed Market […] Commons area. I have stayed at several hotels in Myrtle Beach and normally complain about the cleanliness and upkeep (unless you are in a 4-5 star property). I would rate the Springmaid at the top of its class and plan to return again in the future. It does have more of an extended stay feel (at least the building we were in did), so you may want to bring your own pool towels. The grounds are spacious and feel safe. Read more

The only good thing we could find in this room was clean sheets, no one had cleaned this room for a long time. There was a sticky mess all over the floor in front of the small refrigerator, sea shells let from previous guests. The tub need to be scrubs before we could get in. The hotel is under going renovations so it was kind of in disarray. I could tell the tub had been replaced in my room and there was obvious painting and patch work that could have been cleaned up better. The fridge that was in my room was old and didn't seem to be quite cool enough. Over all the room was nice. I appreciate that they have a separate building for their hotel for those who travel with and bring their dogs and that it is conveniently located for taking them to a grassy area and with an enclosed running area. My room within that building was not very clean and had soap missing as well as tolietries. On the other hand the price was not to be beat […] since it was off season rates too. I have stayed in many hotels over the years and this hotel was absolutely disgusting. I do realize that they were doing extensive renovations, but they have a couple different buildings and put me right in the middle of the renovations. The maid pretty much ignored my room and for the most part it was "self serve". I have never asked a hotel for a refund […] or even complained about service and did not in this case either. I would recomend to my fellow Myrtle Beach traveler that there are many, many nicer places to stay from Myrtle Beach to North Myrtle Beach and beyond. Springmaid resort is a dump now and I can only hope that their renovations are extensive. Do NOT stay here. One last thought... Springmaid Resort was undergoing rennivation of buildings and pool area. Did not interfere with our stay. Our room was buitiful and any question or problem was taken care of immediately and with a friendly attitude. This hotel says they did floor to ceiling remodeling. This is a bit of a stretch. The bedding was new looking but the bath, low vanity counter, dented and dirty refrigerator did not make the room feel remodeled. The rest of the room was clean though. The hotel is located in the flight path of the airport so sleeping past 6:40am is not possible. bathroom is a bit dark, carpet need some cleaning. You need to carry all your luggage to your room as there is no lift available in the part of building where we stayed in. We have a nice view to the pier from our 3rd floor balcony.

If you want to be close but not in the middle of the crowd this is the hotel for you. It is very family friendly and just far enough away from the crowds to feel like you are at your own private resort, but close enough to enjoy all that Myrtle Beach has to offer. There are great restaurants close by and each room has a full size refrigerator and microwave. There are grocery stores within a few miles. For the most part, our stay was great! However, in our 5 night stay, we failed to receive room service two times. We called front desk and they took care of it within an hour - but, it was somewhat inconvenient. In addition, our neighbors in the next room were up all night, one night, with loud and foul language and music!

I really enjoyed the hotel. Clean and comfortable room. The Barnacles Restaurant was a very fun place to relax, great food. The live music on the pier made my vacation more enjoyable. Only negative was heated pool was cold. Staff was a little rigid with early check in or late check out. Reasonable prices for food and gifts.

From the check-in up to the check-out the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were extremely clean and all other items were well taken care of. The light weight down blankets were warm and comfortable to sleep under. A great view of the ocean, and the view of the rising sun was wonderful. A tremendous place to stay.
