The hotel is certainly a bargain in prices; I enjoyed my stay at the Protea Hotel Courtyard: It is small enough to get the desk's attention; the people working at the hotel are friendly and courteous; the restaurant is very good and the arrangment of its diversity style to suit the wishes of the guests great; for those who like to eat outside but really […] inside the restaurant, they will find both accommodations; the pool, even though I did not use, looked clean and with enough water for the bathers; the laundry service is fast; and the hotel gates keep strangers out. This is really a good hotel. Had two nights during a business trip.. Also the restaurant has reasonable prices. Don't go for the buffet but take the menu card instead as its cheaper.

"Protea Courtyard Hotel Dar Es Salaam"
Hotel was average and represented a good value for money relationship. I was not happy with the air conditioning in the room which was not able to really cope with cooling the room down properly. Service and reception was friendly and efficient.
"Value for money in an expensive city"
An old building - with a few quirks - but this hotel consistently provides value for money in what can be a very expensive city. The location means the very worst of the morning and afternoon rush hours can be mitigated. The restaurant tries too hard to please everyone - some dishes are very good, others less so - but the menu needs some "pruning". For those of you who have lived in Dar es Salaam, the mere fact that a hotel is able to provide lighting, airconditioning and food around the clock is a minor miracle. Friendly staff, small and cozy, good business center, and close to the downtown. The downside is no ocean view, despite being very close to the sea and going up and down stairs a lot. Good food. Clean and nice. Small but cozy. Very good service. The negative is that the sun went down early because of a high wall. A 3 star hotel deserves 6 stars
"Protea Courtyard Dar Es Salaam"
I found this hotel to have very friendly, polite house staff at reception, room service and house keeping. Waiters were considerate as well. I find it hard to accept that a hotel of such standing has guests competing with waiters and kitchen staff for breakfast food. I also find it hard accepting that a toaster that was not working well last September […] has still not been replaced in January..it is the most frustrating part of getting any breakfast and is so cheap to replace I stayed for 10 days and had hot food for breakfast 3 out of these ten days..the rest of the time the food warmers were not being maintained... This was the only place I eat while in Dar and I got sick. I also find it hard to accept that water placed in rooms for consumption are refills not new sanitised bottles. This was my second time for a lengthy stay and doubt I will be back despite the great rooms and nice peaceful environment Read more

"Gutes Hotel, lecker Frühstück, schlechte Lage"
Hotel liegt im Diplomatenviertel in sicherer Lage allerdings zu Fuß 45 min. vom Stadtkern und der Strand ist nicht gut und Stinkt. Also nichts für Strandurlaub und verhältnismäßig teuer. Aber der Standart ist super mit Klima, neuem Bad und vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten. Restaurant ist auch sehr gut.
