"Good hotel in very pleasant surroundings."
A good hotel in very nice surroundings. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The room we had was clean and more than adequate albeit very warm even with window open. My only suggestion would be that the bathrooms should include a proper over bath shower rather than just a hand attachment for use when having a bath..Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff were brilliant - nothing too much bother and a smile at all times. Restaurant excellent and the food wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Situated in great area"
An excellent hotel with friendly staff and great foodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Regent for two nights and had a fantastic time. The location is great, right on the lake. We booked a superior room which came with an amazing view. The hotel was very clean and modern, breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely anniversary stay"
We stayed for two nights here and it was lovely The staff were friendly and the food was great for both breakfast and dinner The only thing that let them down in my opinion was leaving soiled tablecloths on the table for the next guests Clean ones please!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Superb staff, great location & food.cannot fault it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfy and clean"
Smooth, efficient and most welcoming check-in. All staff on reception very friendly. Breakfasts superb. Room very comfortable;a couple of down points with bedside lights too low to read a book due to low wattage, type of shade and low position. Only one towel rail in bathroom placed directly in line of shower and nowhere else to hang towels so we were […] permanently shuffling them out of the way as each was using the bathroom. Apart from these couple of points, everything was absolutely spot on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A nice place to stay!"
Friendly efficient staff who were helpful and flexible.Genuine Expedia guest review
A lovely hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent and it was great not having to rush down for breakfast (they serve until 12). The walls seemed a little thin and we could hear the next door occcupant on his mobile (though he did seem a little irate!) . I think we would upgrade the room next time we stayed but overall we thoroughly […] enjoyed our time in the hotel and would definitely stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very polite and friendly staff. Breakfast quite good, and overall a positive hotel experience. I would recommend the Regent to others.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, but room noisy"
We found the hotel very clean, the staff were very friendly and the inclusive breakfasts very nice. The breakfasts were served between 8am and 12pm which give a good flexibility if like us, we liked a lay in. The only negative and it's quite a big one is the room we were in (Room 16) was very noisy, it faced the busy main road and the hotel car park. […] We had the windows open due to the temperature and all we heard from about 6am was beer deliveries to the hotel and heavy traffic on the main road. We would still recommend this hotel, but certainly not room 16. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to boats"
Staff were very friendly and most helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Service at breakfast was first class and meals served hot and well cooked. Although you are not overlooking the lake as the hotel is hidden behind an inn it is only a few yards walk to the lakeside. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a quiet comfortable base to tour the […] lakes. We will go again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"2 night stay at the Regent with the dog"
We stayed at the Regent for 2 nights with our dog as a base whilst trying out a few of the walks along Angletarn Pikes. The hotel was a great choice and I would recommend it as a place to stay in Ambleside, although slightly out of the town centre its only a 2 min drive up the road. We did debate whether to stay in the town or by the lake but decided […] to go for the lake option which we would do again. The hotel was clean, tidy, comfortable, modern and in a good location with parking. The staff were very friendly and there always seemed to be plenty of them about, especially at breakfast. We couldn't fault breakfast, there was lots of choices and the cooked breakfast was delicious, the staff came round constantly asking if you want more coffee or more toast. As for taking the dog with us the Regent was very dog friendly, even put a bone in the dog bowl for our arrival, there is a pet shop directly across the road for any items you may have forgotten which is very handy. Overall we would recommend the Regent to anyone looking for a good base in the lakes, especially those looking for a great dog friendly hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was nice and the reception staff pleasant and helpful. We upgraded to a garden room and that was very nice although I would be curious to see a standard room to see what was particularly special about the garden room. Our only problem was the staff at breakfast. Both mornings we didn't get what we asked for (off the menu) and had to wait while […] they went back to get it, obviously that's not a massive concern it was just a bit annoying and we felt it was such a simple thing to get wrong. Other than that, no problems, lovely location, nice hotel. We both said we'd like to go back to the Lake District but would try somewhere else just because there's so much choice. Location excellent - a few yards from the lake and boat departure point. All of the staff we encountered were well trained and pleasant. The choice of breakfast was the best we have come across in any hotel. No parking problems which is a big plus. "Ideal for a mid-week break"
Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Food very good. An enjoyable mid-week break....except for the weather!Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed over the bank holiday weekend with another couple and really enjoyed the hotel. The service was excellent and the decor is modern but comfortable and the breakfasts were really good. So much choice and the scrambled eggs were really good. The hotel location is perfect for catching the boat over the lake to Bowness and further afield. We also […] went to Wray Castle which is just a short drive away. We had a really lovely stay so thank you very much. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Nice Break"
Really Good Hotel right on the lake. Nice decor, great staff and a 10 minute walk into Ambleside Centre. Breakfast was superb with the added bonus that you can have it until 12:00; so when the weather is bad, you can have a much needed sleep in first!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"one of the best in Ambleside"
Great value hotel offering great service and a top restaurant. Breakfasts are outstanding.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice peaceful break"
Nice hotel, very quiet, which is what we wanted, lovely room well prepared. We had one of the garden rooms which helped the peace and quiet as it was away from the road. Was a little bit of repair work going on but didn't interfere with our stay. Breakfast was good and substantial, served until 12noon which was a good idea for us. It is a good 10 minute […] walk into Ambleside, which even though is along a main road is quite poorly lit at night. We didn't eat at the hotel as we were visiting others who had arranged alternatives. Overall a nice hotel would recommend a stay Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"REGENT HOTEL AMBLESIDE"
Excellent Location in lovely surroundings. Very comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and service. Plenty of parking facilities. Thoroughly enjoyable stay and very likely to stay again. Certain areas did need some redecoration.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed our stay"
The hotel was right on the lake and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in Ambleside. The room was comfortable, clean and had nice decor. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and there was quite a range to choose from all included in the price if you are bed and breakfast. Nice romantic getaway!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was charmed being on the edge of lake windermere, and the surrounding views of the mountains made the location lovely, the room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. the breakfast in the mornings was something i relished! and can recommend the kippers, the hotel is obviously situated in the middle of the lakes so is convenient for surrounding […] visits for walks and other activities. and would not hesitate to go back. This was our second visit to the Regent Hotel. We like its location not far from the lake with an easy walk into Ambleside. The food served in the restaurant and service was excellent. On the first night we both decided on the ‘Trio of Fish’ this was so tasty and well presented. The breakfast is also very good (especially the Cumberland sausage). The room was very spacious, clean, very comfortable bed and with tea making facilities. The only problem was that in this room (42) you could hear all the noise from the room above (44). All of the hotel staff were very pleasant with a warm welcome. We will use this hotel again in the future and can highly recommend it to other visitors to the Lake District.
"An excellent experience as ever"
We stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary, it has become a bit of a regular thing. As ever everything was perfect, I don't think that we have stayed in any hotel where you are made to feel so welcome and at home. I'd love to pick out a member of staff as being excellent but they are all as excellent as each other. We will be back! Thank you

We arrived at The Regent last Sunday to a warm welcome from Reception. Everything was perfect from the beautifully presented delicious food to the well trained and obliging staff. The breakfasts set us up for the day. There was a superb choice and plenty to eat. Dinners in the restaurant were a feast for the eyes as well as for the stomach! The bar meals were excellent also We have walked and driven a lot in the Lake District over the years but as the hotel is so convenient for the buses we decided to leave the car in the carpark. We used our passes and enjoyed our bus rides to Grasmere, Coniston, Hawkeshead and Kendal and also had a lovely boat trip on The Swan to Bowness and back. We hope to be back in the spring.

Stayed for 7 nights and we found the whole experience to be excellent from the outset. From check in to check out all members of staff were helpful, professional and attentive at all times. We found the standard of food to be of the highest standard both at breakfast and at evening dinner. We were particularly impressed with the large selection of dishes available at breakfast. The room was large and was maintained immaculately by the housekeeping staff often the unsung heroes of a comfortable hotel stay. Once again many thanks all for contributing to a memorable stay.

Booked a room for 1 night but ended up staying for 2 it was so good. Lovely, modern hotel with side view of Lake Windermere. Staff all excellent and had a meal in resturant which was excellent. The second night we had a garden room with balcony which was well furnished and lovely comfy bed. The boats are just a short stroll away for a trip on Lake Windermere& Ambleside village is a ten minute walk.

Booked a 3 night stay through laterooms.com.We arrived early for a 2pm checkin but a quick check on the room by the reception staff confirmed we could go straight to the room which was much appreciated. We had a first floor room overlooking the courtyard,it was small but adequate for a 3 night stay, functional rather than luxury but with good facilities, heating on tap, endless hot water any time of day, quality fluffy towels and toiletries if these were needed as well as a decnt supply of tea/coffee/milk.Having slept well we arrived at the breakfast room which was lovely.Selection at breakfast was exceptional, and it would have been rude not to try the cooked breakfast although once was enough from the calorie point of view!IWe loved the low level radio playing which makes for a relaxed feel.Staff were without exception pleasant, smiling and efficient. We did eat in the bar one night and the food was excellent both in value and quality. The public areas were well kept and the hotel obviously did a good trade for guests eating and drinking as the bar was full when we returned at 8.30pm.We loved the position of the Hotel at Waterhead as it meant we got lots of exercise walking to and from Ambleside but we also got to enjoy being by the lake. There were some places to eat near to the Hotel without walking and I noted the Hotel would have cooked any reasonable food request for guests who were staying for a longer period. This Hotel seems to focus on the customer and we didn't want to leave!,that said it all really.
"The Warmest Welcome, fabulous stay"

From the minute we arrived to the moment we left we enjoyed a perfect short stay at the Regent Hotel. We enjoyed a very warm welcome when we arrived and we were shown to our beautiful room which had everything you could wish for. Dinner and drinks in the bar was superb with friendly staff making sure everything was taken care of. Breakfast was a delight, with generous portions of locally sourced produce making for a perfect start to the day. We will definitely stay here again, soon! Thank you to the staff for taking care of us.

We booked the "sail room" for two nights which was superb. All the Staff were friendly and efficient.Nothing was too much trouble. Don't bother walking to Ambelside to have your evening meal stay in the Hotel or use the adjoining local restaurants. The hotel is a great base for exploring the Lake District.Boat trips are just 200yds away with 10percent off if you use the hotel reception to book.
"A warm welcome and a comfortable stay"
We stayed at this hotel as a last minute booking, the hotel staff were very friendly and showed us a warm welcome, service with a smile! After a tiring day exploring the lake and taking in the scenery, we booked a table for dinner. The food was nice, above average, the steak was perfect however the chicken was a little dry, but good overall. The room was spacious and clean, with tea making facilities and free-view tv, the en-suite was nice with a very nice and modern fitted with a spacious shower. The restaurant last orders are at 9pm, with no option for food after. However, the hotel recommended an Italian restaurant that delivers, we ordered pizza, if was so good we ordered twice. Overall, I would stay at the regent again, I thought the hotel was well situated with the lake and quayside a stones throw.
