"Great base location for southwest italy touring."
We used this as a base location for touring around southwest Italy. The hotel is across the street from one of the entrances to the historic ruins. In February, the price was a real bargain for a 4 star hotel. The staff was very helpful. The room was good. The breakfast buffet was very good. We ate there one night and enjoyed the cooking. Free parking […] was across the street in a regular lot. The hotel stamped our parking lot ticket so that the parking was free. There are many other restaurants within a few blocks. We had a fabulous Naples seafood soup (not a soup, actually more like a Paella) for 10 Euros at a restaurant near the corner of Via Roma and Via San Michele. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location hotel with parking across the streetGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a great time at the Forum. Convenient to the Scavi and a wonderful stroll into town. The Room a great size and breakfast was great. Staff were very attentive and answered all of our questions. We even got directions from them to a place we wanted to visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Forum was the fifth and last hotel on a two week tour of Italy. A great way to end. Great, but laid back service. Responsive to special requests.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Wonderful Place to Stay!!!"
This was the second year in a row that we stayed in the Hotel Formum. We have never been disappointed!!! The staff is always so helpful and welcoming and all service is top-notch! The location in Pompeii is perfect. The setting includes outdoor dining and a quiet garden area to relax after a day of sight seeing. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. […] I do think that it is the staff that sets such a welcoming tone and that makes such a difference in one's hotel experience! Top shelf all of the way!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel. Everything was perfect. Would like to thank Monica for all her assistance during our stay. Would definitely come back to this hotel if we are ever in this area again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great little gem!"
We had 2 rooms for 3 nites, one with a balcony and a mountain view and the other on first floor towards the street. Both were great in their own way! Hotel has great gardens, and helpful staff. We felt pampered and safe, a bit away from the crowds and you really cannot beat the convenience, the entry to the Pompeii ruins is right across and the walk […] to the big church square is just a few blocks. Dinner was delicious, breakfast was well prepared! Go and enjoy! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"One of the best"
We so enjoyed two nights at the Forum. All the hotel staff were wonderful. The hotel was beautifully decorated and clean. The garden was exquisite with lemon and lime trees, potted herbs, grape vine covered dining area. Fantastic food, wine and service. The location is great, right opposite the entrance to the old city. Parking is free in a car park […] just over the road to the hotel. This hotel is a must to anyone going to Pompeii. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Tucked back behind a main street this hotel was beautifully furnished, clean and friendly. We were a family with two rooms and both rooms were very quiet and comfortable. Would definately recommend this hotel!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"3 nights in Pompeii"
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Forum very much. Our room left much to be desired, but I had followed travelers' tips and asked for a room "with mountain views" and that's what we got. We did have a mountain view room, but the view was not of Vesuvius and the room was very old and very, very small. The AC barely cooled the room, but they had provided a […] large fan which helped. That being said, the hotel was undergoing major remodeling while we were there (Jun '14) and the newer areas were quite lovely. The remodeling did not cause us any problems and the place was really taking shape in front of our eyes. Dining areas (both indoors and out) were lovely, breakfast was adequate, service could have been more attentive. Marika, at the front desk was absolutely wonderful- very, very helpful and informative. Whatever issues we had, she took care of immediately and efficiently. They provided a very nice happy hour spread each evening, which we enjoyed. The location? A+++. Walk out the front door, cross the quiet street and you are at the gate to the Pompeii archeological site. This is NOT the main entrance where hundreds of tour buses dump thousands of people each day. We walked up, got our tickets and were in the coliseum in less than 5 minutes. A Carrefour is just a 10 minute walk- very handy. We would happily return here and recommend the hotel highly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, charming hotel"
Very farming hotel. The room was clean and we'll supplied. The only negative was that we had only 1 outlet for carving multiple phones. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Would recommend staying here!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect Pompei hotel"
Right across from the Pompeii ruins, steps away from tour to mount Vesuvius pickup, restaurants at every turn and the a 6 minute walk away from the train metro that connected us to the surrounding cities. The location simply marvellous. What about the hotel? Perfect! It was the most comfortable, clean, placed stayed in during our entire trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Enjoyable place to stay"
I hate to disagree with Rick Steves, but Pompeii is a very enjoyable place to stay for a night. It was nice to get away from the high prices, purse snatchers, and pick pockets that are part of the big Italian cities. The Hotel Forum is a 10 minute walk from the city train station, and is almost directly across the street from the rear entrance to the […] ruins. The hotel is very modern with excellent wifi connectivity. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are comfortable with a balcony and large bathrooms. There was a nice breakfast buffet served in a sunroom which opened to a quaint garden. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was perfect. Location between the Termini train station and all major monuments. We got a family room for two people with a renovated bathroom. It was spacious and clean. Staff was super friendly and genuinely helpful. AC worked well. I'd stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"convenient location to Excavation site"
location ideal for our purpose - directly across audio guide and 10 min. walk from one of the entrances to the excavation site - whole town of former Pompeii. Checked in hotel at 3:30 after short train ride from at 3:30 was told latest admission at 4:30. We enjoyed the amazing site. Could have spent a whole day or a couple more hours but 3 hours was […] a very good introduction with the major highlights located through the audio guide. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were welcomed by a friendly and helpful staff; Even though we were early, they checked us in and held our bags, then brought them up to the room while we explored Pompeii. "Lovely hotel in Pompeii"
This hotel is absolutely lovely. The best part about it was relaxing in the large garden under the citrus trees. The rooms were very nice and roomy but not especially up-to-date. Ours had a balcony and there was also a terrace off of the second floor -- lots of areas to enjoy the outdoors. Breakfast was good and included in the price. Staff was very […] helpful and nice. "Possibly the best ever"
I really don't know how I managed to book this fabulous room for 69 euros a night, but I do believe it was the best hotel stay of my life. We had an amazing view of Vesuvius from our room and the room itself was huge by European standards. Breakfast was very good. We walked across the street to spend the day exploring the ruins. A word of warning if […] you come by train on the circumvesuviana line, you want to go to the Pompeii Santuario station not the Pompeii scavi station which is where everyone thinks you want to go because scavi is the entrance right across from the main entrance to the ruins, but it's a good long walk to the Hotel Forum. "Can not stay closer to the gates of Pompeii"
We chose the Forum for convince and was so pleased with our choice. We arrived in the off season when they were doing construction to update some of the rooms. This first caused concern but all was well. We had a lovely room with a sitting area outside overlooking the garden with lemon trees with huge lemons. They were the size of my head! The room […] not only had a great shower but also a tub which was great for soaking in after a long day in Pompeii. The entrance to ruins was right across the street and from our window we had a wonderful view of the mountain. Our room was very nice with terracotta floor tile, a king size bed, couch with sitting area and T.V. with English stations. The breakfast each morning was wonderful with many choices to meet the need of all taste. Our only warning is to remember that at the hotel they will take a cut of any thing you do through them. Befriend a local taxi driver that you can contact on your own. The phone will probably not work. This is so the hotel can get their cut of the activities that you do. Plan activities on your own. "A Good Place for a Pompeii Stay"
The hotel is directly opposite one of the entrances to the Pompeii ruins but it is not near any of the train stations. You either need to walk or take a taxi from the station, depending on which station you stop at and depending on your degree of mobility. The hotel is clean and is in the main street and close to everything in Pompeii. That said, there […] is not much in Pompeii besides the ruins. The female reception staff tended to be very friendly but their male colleagues a little less so. They have storage facilities for luggage, which is great, and do allow an early check in where this is possible. The hotel is clean and is perfectly adequate for one night's stay. The breakfast is largely continental. The scrambled eggs and viennas at breakfast did not look good at all. It is a decent place to stay for one night but it is mosty definitely not a four star hotel. It might be three star at best. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel & value if you are visiting the Ruins"
My fiance & I stayed for 1 night on a stopover between Calabria & Rome to visit the Pompeii ruins. The hotel is literally across the street from one of the entrances to the ruins so the location was great, the only downfall was that it was a bit of a walk from the train station with heavy luggage. The room was modern, clean, comfortable and had a nice […] large flat screen tv & a big bathtub (both rarities in Italy). The front desk staff was very helpful in providing nearby restaurant recommendations & also allowing us to store luggage there while we toured the ruins on the morning of our departure. This place was a great value for the price & we will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Pompeii. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room they gave us had a smell so we asked for a different room and the room next door was available but it was very small. Overall the hotel is a 3 star hotel. Nothing exceptional about the rooms. The only beautiful part was the garden and the everything that's grown there. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and very delicious. The hotel also […] was right across from the second gate of pompeii excavation site which is very convenient. The parking was across the street in a lot however it is free. Great location, cross the street from one of the entrances to the Pompei ruins. The room was spacious clean and overlooked the court yard. it's only a short walk to several good restaurants and souvenir shops. Since we were driving a great asset was the free parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"animal friendly, location, great service"
Location perfect, in front of Pompeii excavation site. Friendly staff. The hotel is actually animal friendly. They have a beautiful mascot dog Amico and a cat Romeo that stop by to say hi here and there, they live outside of the hotel. The outdoors of hotel is very charming. "Very convenient to ruins"
This hotel is right across the street from the Pompeii ruins, therefore very convenient. The hotel itself could use a bit of updating. It's clean, but our room was fairly small and the furnishings were sort of old and dated. But, we didn't spend all that much time in the room! I will add that we ate at two very good restaurants, both within walking […] distance. The first was La Bettola Del Gusto and the second was Garum--it was probably the better of the two, but I'd recommend both highly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The location is great for a visit to Pompei. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby, breakfast area, and gardens around the hotel were very nice. I had read numerous reviews about the spacious rooms, but we must have gotten the worst room in the hotel. It was so small that you could bearly get around the bed, and there was no place to put a suitcase. […] We had to open our suitcases on the bed, get what we needed out, repack, and try to stand the suitcases in a corner (still in the way). The bed was also very hard and uncomfortable. This hotel is across the street from the entrance to Pompeii, though not the Marine entrance which is the main one. So one needs to walk through the less visited parts of the site before getting to the forum. But this is OK. The hotel is nice and well maintained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed here for a night and definetly enjoyed our stay. This hotel is clean, with a beautiful garden, comfy beds, and amazing customer service. I would stay here again. "Friendly hotel-close to ruins"
Nice hotel with good breakfast (freshly squeezed orange juice & espresso!), beautiful courtyard and helpful friendly staff. I asked for a room in the back of the hotel and when I arrived we were given a room in the back, which was very nice. There is not a train station nearby, but it's only a short walk by a beautiful catherdral. Parking is free and […] across the street- just stamp your ticket at the hotel. The entrance to the ruins is across the street , but if you want an audio guide, you need to head west all the way down the street to the main entrance. I would recommend to anyone. The location is great, right across the street from the entrance to the ruins. The staff was friendly. The room left a lot to be desired, first they gave us a tiny room that stank of cigarette, although, it was non-smoking?? They gave us the room next to it which was bigger and seemed ok. However, the heater barely worked and the room was mostly cold […] and seemed damped. For the price we could have done better elsewhere but we had prepaid... The location of Hotel Forum was a great way to begin our trip to Italy. The Metro was close by to take us to the Colosseum/Roman Forum and then we walked back to the hotel. "I will stay here again if i return to Pompeii"
If I am willing to stay at a hotel on a return trip, that is my statement with regard to the facility, service, etc. The staff were fantastic and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Pompeii. "Modern, clean, and very well-located"
We were very pleased with the Hotel Forum. Located a short distance from the entrance closest to the amphitheater. The hotel is nicely remodeled, very modern, it is easily accessed from the road (Plinio turns into Via Roma, stay to the left as you go around the round about, it is the farthest point without going back where you came from, the plethora […] of hotel sign will only confuse you further!). A nice continental breakfast was included. We were able to walk to many nice restaurants, and the parking, while cross the street was in a secure lot. We enjoyed the hotel, especially the good water pressure after a day in he heat! Try restaurant Zi Catarina for a great meal while you are there! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hard to find but worth it"
Like many old european hotels, this is not an American Hilton. The rooms are all a little different and ours, a room for 4, was air conditioned but a little cramped. The staff was polite but not overly friendly. The breakfast and the dining area was one of the highlights of our entire trip. The dining is largely on the grounds of a beautifully maintained […] patio. The hotel is situate across the street from a mini tourist trap with carnival attractions and a lot of noise (while we were there, some locals were lighting fireworks all night). There are plenty of dining options and free parking (a rare find) just across the street. One of the entrances to the Pompei ruins is right around the corner. If I were to return to Pompei, I would definitely consider returning to the Forum. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
