"Within walking distance of Ren-Cen"
Was in town for Motor City Pride. We walked to the Ren-Cen per another hotel guest recommendation. I like this hotel. If you want just a comfortable, inexpensive place to crash where others won't interfere you should stay here. Some guests here were partying hard but were left alone by the staff behind the bullet proof glass. I would not recommend children […] staying here just to spare them seeing the hardships and realities of the human condition. I look at it this way, it saves me money, I feel relatively safe, and I get an opportunity to pray for a couple of people along the way, but not myself I really don't feel unsafe here. Bottom line, it is still Detroit and not in the most desirable neighborhood, so use caution if you think getting public services and transportation may be a truer concern. So many police in Greektown and maybe Downtown but the outer-lying areas are still quintessential Detroit longing for some TLC. Oh well, I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not far from FESTIVAL $1.00 vans"
It was a pleasant experience . I've stayed here before and it was still great. It's not a crazy 5 star but it's very comfortable. The walk to the festival was great after you stop and eat at Mudgies right down the block. Chase is conveniently across the street. And if you don't want to walk they have $1.00 dollar vans each way. Every10min. I would only […] change the smell of the smoking. since it's aloud in the hotel rooms. Also if you get really hungry they have good frozen pizza and hot pockets. Just put it in the oven and it's a pretty good late snack. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"We left! Please choose a diffrent hotel!"
I am a single mom on a very tight budget. Out of the blue we had to come to Detroit for an award ceremony for my daughter. I didn't have much money and the photos of the hotel and the reviews were not that bad. Pulling into the parking lot I was scared and refused to let may daughter out of the car. When I was buzzed in I could hardly speak to the woman […] behind the glass. The woman at the desk was very rude, the people working here have NO professional skills at all! We didn't even end up staying at this hotel. If you are looking for a dump in a shady area where the person checking you in is behind a thick plate of glass please feel free to stay here. "No maid service and unfriendly staff."
Located in a sketchy area. Surprised to find no maid service and sheets had stains. My key card didn't work when I got back late one night and the hotel clerk offered no apologies when giving me a new card.Genuine Expedia guest review
"looks are fooling...."
the inn looks kinda rundown on the out side, door wouldn't open with key card...took lots of tries, then couldn't get into room with it...got a new card that worked later that night...you get a choice of either plugging in the lamp or the fridg...had to pull dresser out to plug it in, other than that slept good.Genuine Expedia guest review
The motel, the lobby, the rooms looked way different & better in the pics when I was booking the motel online, when I arrived I was in shock & dissatisfied with how dirty & broken down everything was...But iI had no time to change motels, as i was on schedule!!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Disappointing says it all"
when we got there they said the charge was a little more than quoted. then they wanted to charge 2 dollars more to use my debit card. they didn't write the extra 2 dollars on the slip, still waiting to see what actually gets charged. The place had a smell that I am not sure what it was. In our room, one chair was broken. They propped it up against the […] wall and table. the lamp was falling apart, and the alarm clock didn't work. When my husband took a shower, the water leaked out and made a mess on the floor. They did have cable but it would be nice to have some kind of channel guide. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Smelled like an as tray"
Dirty. The elevator was out of order. The stairway smelled horrible. Good location though!Genuine Expedia guest review
Do not ever go there, it is creepy! People smoke in the hallway with cigarette buds on the floor, the bathroom was not clean, rooms are smelly. There was no internet for the whole day when I left. I should have looked the rating before I booked from Expedia because you can't cancel the booking or change itGenuine Expedia guest review

"Much to be desired."
After a three day stay, I will not stay here again. The staff did not clean the room once and were unresponsive to any request to clean the room. The room accommodations were scanty at best. A business traveler would be disappointed; there is no desk, no refrigerator, microwave or coffee brewer in the room. The front desk staff were not professional […] at all, and, to be honest, were scary. This place can only be described as a dive. Do not waste your money, stay somewhere else. "Convient for a night out"
Although we did not spend much time in the hotel room, our stay was satisfactory. The Corktown Inn was an average place to stay if you're looking for a place to crash. We are a young, adventurous couple that simply needed a cheap room for the night, with a bar near by (St.Ci Ci's) to get plastered at. Don't go in to the Corktown Inn with high expectations […] or you will be dissapointed. The room was clean enough and in the lobby they have a huge fridge filled with Hot Pockets (if you're into that). 8/10 would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine Budget Hotel"
Our band was playing a gig at PJ's Lagerhouse in Corktown (Detroit), and this place was literally 2 blocks around the corner and was a decent enough budget hotel to crash at. I thought the price was a little bit too high, but nevertheless, the quality of the place was fine, and it "is what it is". We had no problems at all, either than the credit card […] machines were down during check-in and they asked if we had cash. I'd say bring cash just in case, and make sure you get a receipt- the desk clerk was really awesome though- super nice and cool about us coming back after the show with the cash at 2:30 AM and held onto our reservation. "Booked out of convenience and price near Joe Louis"
Walked into lobby to find receptionist behind bullet proof glass. Very unprofessional looking behind the desk. Got to room and it wasn't cleaned very well. Orange seed on bathroom counter and hair dryer was caked in dust. I would t stay here again or recommend it. Not only was it not clean- I didn't feel safe.Genuine Expedia guest review
Upon arrival you get buzzed in through a small security door, only to be greeted by an expanse of Bullet Proof glass protecting the length of the reception area. Behind that glass is a grimy refrigerator with pictures of its contents for sale - mainly frozen foods like pizza and hamburgers. The room itself smelled like it was doused in air-freshener, […] this was probably to cover up the pervasive smoke smell throughout the hotel. The hotel has NO SMOKING signs everywhere, but it also has ashtrays near every sign, including in your non-smoking room and next t o the elevator. Small scratchy towels, limp foam pillows, and no blanket option other than the comforter. The TV is about 20yo and still analog. At least nothing bit me while sleeping, which is a plus I guess. "Missing important amenities"
I got a non-smoking room but it was at the end of a very long hall in which people were obviously smoking so subjected time and again to a lot of smoke. The room had no in-room coffee - a MUST for me. And when I went to the lobby to get some coffee she said she generally made it at 6am or 7am - though she did offer to make some right away and asked […] me to return in 5 minutes (up and down 3 floors for that, though.) The room was okay - not great. Office chair which just sat in the way - no desk. And when I came down to the lobby one morning a filthy dirty, homeless drunk was sitting on the lobby couch using the pay phone. The only thing within walking distance was Burger King. Really not convenient. And it's the only hotel I've ever seen that sold underwear in the vending machine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent Hotel in a cool area for a great rate!"
I had read the reviews about the Corktown Inn after I had struck out finding a hotel downtown (autoshow...). I knew Corktown was a cool neighborhood and I knew it was a short walk to downtown so I figured what the hell... The first thing I noticed when I walked in the lobby was that the clerk was behind bullet-proof glass but I had been tipped off to […] that by the reviews. It actually gave the lobby the look of the motel in the original Highlander movie but I digress. The room was clean, sheets fresh and clean, desk/sink/shower all in nice shape and clean. It ain't the Ritz, but for the price and location its a good place to stay in the D. The now famous (infamous??) vending machine in the lobby that sells women's panties is echt! I wanted to snap a picture of it but forgot. The staff was very friendly. Great pub/restaurant across the street called St. CeCe's. Don't miss it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Lily K's Place (a private club I attend)"
I really enjoyed my stay on Dec 7, 2013. It was one ot the better experiences that night. I was downtown for a pub crawl. I was there at noon and the guy was expecting me. There was a new girl that night that was very friendly as well. She called me a cab and they came immediately. I had no luck with a cab service 3 blocks away and one in HP and called […] them from my 810 cell multiple times. Also got a cab when The Hayloft called one or me but again in W Detroit no luck on my own. Back to the hotel: Yes there was a small burn hole in the carpet. The bed was uber comfortable. TV was a little grainy but had 3 channels of HBO. I rocked that night with "8 Mile" and "Home Improvement" on the set. Shower was hot but beware the knob on the right turns on the shower and the one on the left is for hot/cold settings. Shower and tub were immaculate putting many other hotels from my past to shame and some were 4 star. I parked outside of my window (335) and had a good view of my vehicle. The lot and lots surrounding the hotel on the Ambassador Bridge side were all very well lit throughout the night. The guests that I encountered were average Joes like myself, mainly just wanting to keep to themselves but gave a pleasant nod. Approaching Michigan Ave seemed to be some trendy restaurants/ businesses there at Trumbull. To save money and cab ride distance I would recommend this place. I took a pic of the bridge. !Greater Detroit CAB, Lorraine CAB! Hope to see you there... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Underrated hotel for a great price"
Within walkin distance of downtown and the renaissance center, the hotel was much better than what I expected. I had little interaction with the staff, all foreign but on top of it. The hotel had a slightly dingy aura, but amazing beds, convenient location and a nice shower. Tv selection was disappointing however.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good place if you just need a " Spot " in Detroit"
I stayed in seven hotels this week . This place had the GREATEST shower !!of any of them. Location is 5-10 minutes driving to all the spots.I was at Joe Louis and Ford field, all the bars etc. Not a place you hang out at, you sleep, shower and go .Safe enough, it is Detroit, secured parking, clean enough rooms and bed . For the $$ it was perfect .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was decent for the price. The hotel is about 10 minutes walking distance from downtown which is pretty convenient. I walked everywhere and did not feel unsafe at all. The room did smell like smoke and was pretty basic. If you're looking for a cheap and safe place to stay, this is it. Don't expect too much but great for a nights stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I just want to say something to counter some of the negative reviews. If you need hotel perfection, you might want to stay somewhere else. "Solid place to stay."
I typically stay at Greektown the night before Lions games. However, like has happened before, Greektown was full. This is my 3rd time at the Corktown and I've always left feeling satisfied. It's certainly not a 5-star hotel, but it's an affordable and pretty decent place to stay if you're in a pinch on your next overnight stay in Detroit. I'll continue […] to prefer Greektown (duh LOL), but have no problem at all going to the Corktown Inn if need be. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed at Corktown on a night there was a major concert as well as a Tigers game downtown. Most hotels were booked full, but there were rooms available here. I was worried that safety would be an issue but there was a secure gated parking area and I felt safe even returning to the hotel late at night. The room was clean, and the location was close […] to downtown. Will stay here again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Smelly, old, stagnant feel. Broken cracked window with sharp edges. Moody hood mentality with the night staff. she hates her job. The afternoon gentleman was a decent guy. not a bad walk from Comerica park or ford field but definitely not worth more than twenty-five dollars. There were used magnum condom wrappers in the parking lot. The elevator was […] sketchy, at best. The room felt like it was in a basement on the east-side of Flint (being on the fourth floor). Maybe there was some kind of flood damage there before? Maybe they just banned smoking inside recently? Maybe this place was a smoke-friendly bingo hall during the week? Either way the room, staff, linen, carpet, moisture, smell, and over-all ambiance of this facility made our stay shorter than expected as we opted to pursue the 90 minute drive home in combined tigers baseball and concert traffic. I was a little worried about staying here because of the other comments, but I would definitely stay here again. They let me check in hours before check in. The beds were very comfortable.
