"a good budget-friendly stay"
Nothing fancy, but was affordable, clean, safe, and comfortable. Desk staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review

"One of the worst places we have ever stayed!"
The only good things about this place were that every door was locked so you needed a key card to get in. There was a sweet, helpful older couple I spoke to every morning, owners maybe? Because of this couple, I tried hard to like it, but that was impossible! The walls were filthy with something (blood maybe?) on a few of the walls, as well as other […] dirt spots. On the back of the bathroom door, there were smudges of black dirt. There was a "private area" hair on the back of our toilet. One of our lights wouldn’t work because it wasn’t plugged in. When we moved the night stand to plug it in, we found a small bag with what looked like pot. One of our towels had a booger smeared across it. Our last night, a mouse ran across our floor. When I called the front desk, the lady called me a liar and then gave me attitude! She did, to her credit, come up and move us to the next floor up and apologized repeatedly for what happened. There were big crumbs all over the floor, so it definitely had not been vacuumed. There were NO SMOKING signs all over, yet it always smelled of smoke, and once in the elevator, a woman got in with us who was smoking. She walked to the front counter with her cigarette, and not a word was said to her. We were told our room was a non-smoking room, but found a used ashtray in it. My mother is allergic, so she coughed the whole time we were there. When we complained, they told us that it was a non-smoking room, and that they couldn't help what their guests did. "Close to where I had to go."
The room that I had, needed to be cleaned better. The bed spread smelled cigarette smoke. I woke up from a nice sleep, to a headache. The smell of the bed spread gave this non-smoker a headache. Most places put smokers in designated rooms and non-smokers in another. Too bad your hotel does not follow this. Clerk tells me no one is suppose to smoke in […] rooms, and there was a carton on the desk,,LOL... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not at all what I expected"
The entire place smells like smoke. The lobby, the hallway, the room. The sheets on the bed had holes in them. The only thing the place had going for its self was the fact you can park your vehicle behind a gated lot. This place must have never been remodeled since it was built. There were no 3 prong outlets in the room except for in the bathroom which […] looks like they may have updated it at one point. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This may not be the hotel for everyone, but anyone can certainly stay here. It was extremely close to downtown, Motown Studios is ten minutes down the street, the bridge to Canada is ten minutes away, parking is safe and secure. Not the cleanest looking place but I would certainly stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place for the budget traveller"
It's not the Ritz, but if you use your hotel simply as a place to sleep and shower before/after you're out exploring the city, then you can't beat the Corktown Inn at the prices they charge. Spent three nights there while I was in town for the jazz festival, and am planning to do the same next year. Only complaints: 1. The WIFI was really inconsistent, […] so if reliable 'net access is important to you, be prepared to haul your laptop to a coffeeshop. 2. There's no real place to eat in quick walking distance (it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the center of the city) so be sure to grab a bite before heading back to the hotel if, like me, you like a late-night nosh after a night out. "It was convenient and a place to stay"
We went to Detroit to see a baseball game and we were able to do that! The distance to the park was not bad, but more than a mile! The neighborhood was questionable at best but the hotel was clean and had gated parking so not too uncomfortable. If you are looking for a romantic stay this is probably not the place but if you are only staying a short […] time this hotel is feasible. However you will not find concierge more like vending and a microwave. Nice place to crash though Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent for a quick stay in Detroit."
The Corktown Inn was not a bad place for a quick stay. The hotel is older but pretty clean. the room was cozy but for the price was not bad. We had an event at the Cobo Hall and we were able to walk there. This saved in parking fees downtown as there is a gated parking lot at the hotel. It is not the BEST of neighborhoods so we did not walk at night […] but during the day was ok. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Great Alternative to Outrageous Prices To Sleep!"
This is a "get what you pay for" type of hotel. Alternatives are paying $100-$400 a night in the same area. However, I'm from Detroit so I knew the area ahead of time that I would be staying in, if more people would do their research then they wouldn't be so critical. We walked to Ford Field from hotel and then back to the hotel at night and never felt […] threatened at all. So if you're just going to be back at the hotel to literally just sleep you'll be good to go, if you're looking to hide yourself in a room all day… maybe you better checkout the $100-$400 a night rooms. Staff was friendly upon check-in and checkout, quick and easy process during both. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Budget hotel in a great location"
Room was rather dirty and the personnel not too friendly, but the hotel is located in a really great area of the city (walking distance from downtown, pubs, restaurants, Greyhound station, ...), and it's quite cheap. Some really great pubs are located just around the corner in Corktown (Michigan avenue).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was an experience"
It was something I had to take at the last minute because of another hotel that I refused to stay at. The Regency was ok until the light went out but I could walk down the hall in the dark without being attack. The staff was very friend and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would not have stayed there if I had my wife with me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my second time at the Corktown Inn. I came back because it was ok the first time. Now, I can't say the same. Maybe they changed management because it is not as nice as it used to be. Seems more like a short term apartment building then a hotel. I was very disappointed and will not be coming back to the establishment.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Corktown Inn is horrible. It was nasty."
Hotel smelled. Was dreadful. One step above homeless. 1 star is generous. My bed sheet had 4 cigarette holes. Whole hotel shared iron in a nasty laundry room. It spewed orange spots on clothes. No daily room maintenance.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Unfriendly Customer Serivce."
Customer Service Representative was not friendly at all.Went to desk to ask for additonal towels - informed that their is no servie available after 4:00 p.m. To have options of no smoking. "Not the best place to stay..."
I read the reviews before booking and still decided to give it a shot. The girl that checked me in at the front desk was super nice, but then things went down hill from there. I understand it was not in the best of neighborhoods, but I really did not feel that safe even inside. Again, I know this was my choice, but when I walked into my room (which […] smelled like smoke) I noticed hair in the bathroom and the shower. This to me is unacceptable. I then pulled back the comforter and noticed that there were yellow stains on the sheets. Thses issues along with the clientel should have told me to just find another place to stay for the night. Last resort. I knew it would be in a bad location but all rooms at higher rated hotels were booked. You could hear phone conversations through the walls. was a little nervous given some older negative reviews, but this place was fantastic- safe parking lot you can watch on CCTV in your room, lots of vending machines selling all sorts of munchies, and the room was clean, bed comfortable and bathroom good enough. would definitely stay again. "The nighmare in room 336"
When I originally checked into the hotel the room it appeared to be clean and descent for the price. It wasn't until I returned to my room after a late night (approx 11:30-12am) snack run to the lobby's vending machine is when my trip turned into a nightmare. I flipped the light switch and thought I saw something crawl across the bed when I tried to […] find out what it was and couldn't find it I started to blow it off, but because of all the horror stories I heard about bedbugs I shifted in OCD mode. I turned the heat up in the room to full blast and went through each piece of clothing and items in my bags and purse one by one (with a fine tooth combs -so to speak) in the bathroom. I inspected each piece one by one shaking out everything in the tub and refolding them, before finally repacking them. During the coarse of this I saw the BEDBUG again. I immediately got one of the complimentary cups off the table and scooped him up inside. Then I took my bags to the car and took him to the lady at the front desk at approx. 5am. The hotels personal idea of customer service was to switch my room from 336 to 409 and extending my check out time from 11 am to 3 pm. Being sleep deprived and no where else to go I stayed but I was so noded I couldn't sleep. I got maybe 2 hrs before I couldn't take it anymore and decided to checked out at approx 9:30 -10am the next morning. The morning's hotel's attendant ended up giving me a $20 cash refund out of a $54 per night price. It was horrible!!!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stated at the corktown inn on st pattys day. The staff was friendly and the motel was in a cool area of Detroit. The cleanliness of the room was not so great. There was hair all over our toilet and the towels were wrinkled like they just picked them up from the ground and hung them back up....oh yeah and the soap in the shower had what looked like […] a bite taken out if it. For a "quick stay" I would recommend it for the price! Also there's a convenient vending machine offering underwear, condoms & chapstick :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It's not in the best neighbourhood but I felt safe enough there. Maybe it does have rooms to rent for the hour lol but on the third floor my room was quiet and very good. Better than some of the well known motel chains. Nice bed, clean and as I said quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Sports Arenas and downtown Detroit"
It is a Transient Hotel. The rates are very reasonable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean. I didn't see anything bad while staying there. Stayed there one night to see the Blackhawks play the Redwings and it served its purpose just fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Corn Dogs 75 Cent!"
There is a freezer behind the ghetto glass enclosed reservation desk offering Corn Dogs for 75 cents. You won't find that at a 4 star hotel. They also have their old furniture for sale in the lobby- I almost got a table for $10 but flew on a budget airline that would have killed me with weight and size restrictions (most items were in the $60 dollar […] range) So if you like a flea market vibe and aren't afraid of less wealthy areas- it is for you- not a flea bag- just kind of run down. I have stayed in worse. The bed was pretty small - a full? They called it a single. And there may be corn dog crumbs in it now. I was hungry and drunk and the nearby BK was too scary a walk. "My stay at corktown inn, Detroit 2/2012"
the Hotel was in a terrible part of town, the parking lot had an iron fence all the way around and you needed a card to get in the gate. Beware of the maids. If you leave food in your room that they like, such as pistachios, they will help themselves to some. It happened to me. I was really disgusted by that. "Great location, decent room, awful public areas"
The hotel was close to where I needed to be, a good price, the room was reasonably clean, and the bed was comfortable. WIFI, but no desk. The lobby, hallways, and elevators are dirty and in poor condition, like you'd expect to find in a slum. Elevator also in poor condition, and very slow, I usually used the stairs. "Cheap hotel in an dying city"
I came to Detroit for the auto show, as I was a photographer for an auto website. For this hotel, I booked it because my budget is limited and it's the first time I went there and I wanted to stay there for a comparativelu long time, 5 days. But remember, never go to Detroit city without driving or renting a car there. This hotel is located on the edge […] of the downtown but you can barely catch a bus to it or from it. Even in the downtown, you may still find it quite hard to catch a bus or go to somewhere out of downtown. This hotel did not change my towel and never made bed for me. It doesn't offer a cattle so I can't drink anything except the bottled water bought from the vendor machine on the first floor. Buy it in a market around it? Forget about it! You have no nearby markets! Every street is empty and horribly dark at night. The good thing about this hotel is it still has hot water and a bath tub so after a day of walking( i have no choice but walk to anywhere I wanna go), i can bath. But you have to buy( i don't know where though) your own toothpaste and body wash cuz they only provide you typical cheap hotel soap and shampoo. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
