"Disgusting- NOT recommended"
I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a colony of beetles. Yellow/white stains in my bed, crumbs all over the floor. PUTRID smell. Our phone line was cut. I got a refund IMMEDIATELY after walking in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although the Corktown Inn is by no means a "nice hotel," the low room rates and convenient location compensate for the lack of friendly staff and poor condition of the building. I found my stay at the Corktown Inn perfectly adequate, and if the need arose, I would be willing to stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not too bad."
It wasn't too bad of a place. When I first arrived there was alot of trash in the parking lot, but they cleaned that up. The only bad thing I'd say is the toilet seat wasn't very clean haha. Majority of the time wasn't spent in the hotel. We were there Fri-Mon for Orion Music and More festival. Best part about the place. Vending Machines.... Oh and […] watch the elevators cause they seem abit scary. (make strange noises) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great value not a 5 star but gets you true the nightGenuine Expedia guest review
Pay another $20 bucks and stay at a CLEAN, HYGIENIC, ODOR FREE AND SAFE PLACE! I would not stay at this place again if it was THE last place on earth. What is so ironic is that the sign proudly displays "A Fine Hotel"! To whom, a blind person with no sense of smell? Give me a break - PLEASE!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get for what you pay."
Overall the hotel was just a last minute deal. But for future plans this hotel is definitely not on my list.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good value for the price. Staff was exceptionally kind (as most Detroiters are, in my experience). Building is in a safe neighborhood just a few minutes from Downtown and I-94. Great place to stay if you're young and on a budget.Genuine Expedia guest review
It is what it is, this electronic music weekend, lots of people in Detroit and in the Corktown...It was fine...Genuine Expedia guest review
"THE BEST CRACK MOTEL OUT THERE"
this , by far was the worst motel I have ever stayed at . discustiing , dirty , and they sell lighters and underwear in a vending machine . the tv remote was held on by duct tape and the a/c was a window unit . the room was so small that when I opened the door to the room it almost hit the bed . was a horriable place . its not family friendly or even […] close to being normal. it should be condemned . "Horrible location! Buyer beware!"
service was bad! Check-In Clerk overcharged me at first and had a horrible attitude. The location was in a dangerous ugly looking neighborhood. The hotel reeked of sweat. Overall, this was the worst hotel I have stayed atGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the price"
Just that! It was great for the price! Nothing fancy by any stretch but convenient!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"the price is right"
I gave this hotel a 3, only because it's cheap for it's proximity to downtown Detroit. The parking lot is secured also.Beyond that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone accustomed to mid to high level accommodations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"U get what U pay 4 + FREE CIGARETTE STINK"
First, I didn't expect the hotel to be very nice. I expected it to be relatively clean and have a bed. People that compare this type of hotel to something that cost $200+ aren't comparing apples to apples. I have stayed at several cheaper hotels in places like the U.P. when I am passing through. They don't have many amenities, but at least they are […] clean. This place was not. The first thing is that there appears to be transients living there. You can buy friggen baby food at the front desk. Second, there is an entire room boarded up on the first floor. Third, you have to use the 2nd elevator, "because the first one doesn't work." Fourth thing is that the entire hotel smells like a cigarette. Oh, and they have a shuttle bus. It doesn't run though............ Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

room never was cleaned while I was there for 3 days. Never..... Questionable people in and out. Should have been $29.95/night. If that much. Wow. Unbelievable. $29.95 is probably too high...... DissapointedGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"in town for the Barrister Ball"
Our room was adjacent to the gate for parking, thus, all night long and in the early morning, we were disturbed by the noise from the gate. We got very little sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pretty Good Value, Close to Joe Louis Arena"
I was pleasantly surprised by the good condition and cleanliness of the room for a hotel in this price range. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but the hotel has a lot of security measures in place. There is even a channel on the TV that has the live security camera feed of the parking lot so you can keep an eye on your car. I stayed there […] after a Red Wings game and it was nice that it is only about a mile away from Joe Louis Arena (and Cobo Hall) and easy to find. "Dustbunnies and Crackheads"
I should have suspected something when our cab driver referred to it as the crack hotel. But alas, I had already paid. While we did not feel in danger during our stay. These situations rarely scare me, I mean we were vacationing in Detroit after all. However the very poor quality p o rn was streaming in the room 24/7. Eeek. I requested it blocked to […] no avail. Also the internet did not work at all! The maids pretty much are clueless as to how to properly clean a room as well. Paint and decor was decent however. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"$12 cab ride from Comerica and Ford Field"
This place is a bargain for anybody who isn't picky, uptight or prissy. There's a bar, convience stroe and a Burger King within walking distance and cab fare is cheap to any place downtown. The drawbacks are the hallways smell like stale cigarettes and the elevator sucks (don't get a room near it, it's loud too). The cleanliness is a sub par, but this […] is a place to crash, not hang out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lions and Tigers double dip!"
Myself and several friends needed a place to crash after same day Lions and Tigers world series game. Definitely served it's purpose...very close to parks and maybe 1/2 mile away from MGM where we were gambling. Not a neighborhood you'd want to take a midnight stroll through but the gated secured parking was a major bonus and gave piece of mind. Also, […] saved a boatload of cash vs. casino hotels! We got what we paid for here, warmth-a bathroom-room/beds seemed clean-and no visible roaches...nothing more to ask for! If your looking for a cheap, safe place to crash after gambling/games...Corktown Inn is the way to go! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could not be more disappointed"
When arriving for check-in, had to negotiate broken beer bottle and spilled beer in lobby. When we were finally issued a room key, upon entry we found the room had not been cleaned nor the beds made up. We immediately surrendered the room key and departed the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel during the World Series!"
Great hotel for the money during the World Series! Basically don't plan on hanging out in the room too much, it's a bed not a 5 star hotel!! I only used the room as a place to sleep after the game. For that it was perfect. Not to mention my buddy left his Parking lights on and killed our battery!! The desk clerk let use his jumper cables so we could […] get home. So thanks to the Corktown inn for some great service when we needed it most. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
It needs major make over. Good thing that they have new paint in hall way but can't image what it was without it. There have cameras everywhere and a gated parking lot which is good. But reminds you that they are there for a reason. Didn't feel like taking off my shoes until I hit to bed. The bathroom is huge, clean and white for the most part. Key […] word: "most". Most of the appliances look aged. They have a nice view. It's walkable to downtown but I won't suggest that transit method unless you are about to do the Detroit marathon like I/other people did. Oh, btw, the walls are thin. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
While the staff was nice, it took a while to check in because the front desk clerk was cleaning up spilled beer in the lobby. Upon entering our room, we were blasted by the stench of smoke, then advised that there were no non-smoking rooms as requested. Apparently dinner was included in the stay as there was an old uneaten pizza in one of the dresser […] drawers. The room was generally pretty dirty. The positive is that they did allow a pretty late check out (1:00). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"One of the worst places we have ever stayed!"
The only good things about this place were that every door was locked so you needed a key card to get in. There was a sweet, helpful older couple I spoke to every morning, owners maybe? Because of this couple, I tried hard to like it, but that was impossible! The walls were filthy with something (blood maybe?) on a few of the walls, as well as other […] dirt spots. On the back of the bathroom door, there were smudges of black dirt. There was a "private area" hair on the back of our toilet. One of our lights wouldn’t work because it wasn’t plugged in. When we moved the night stand to plug it in, we found a small bag with what looked like pot. One of our towels had a booger smeared across it. Our last night, a mouse ran across our floor. When I called the front desk, the lady called me a liar and then gave me attitude! She did, to her credit, come up and move us to the next floor up and apologized repeatedly for what happened. There were big crumbs all over the floor, so it definitely had not been vacuumed. There were NO SMOKING signs all over, yet it always smelled of smoke, and once in the elevator, a woman got in with us who was smoking. She walked to the front counter with her cigarette, and not a word was said to her. We were told our room was a non-smoking room, but found a used ashtray in it. My mother is allergic, so she coughed the whole time we were there. When we complained, they told us that it was a non-smoking room, and that they couldn't help what their guests did. "Close to where I had to go."
The room that I had, needed to be cleaned better. The bed spread smelled cigarette smoke. I woke up from a nice sleep, to a headache. The smell of the bed spread gave this non-smoker a headache. Most places put smokers in designated rooms and non-smokers in another. Too bad your hotel does not follow this. Clerk tells me no one is suppose to smoke in […] rooms, and there was a carton on the desk,,LOL... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not at all what I expected"
The entire place smells like smoke. The lobby, the hallway, the room. The sheets on the bed had holes in them. The only thing the place had going for its self was the fact you can park your vehicle behind a gated lot. This place must have never been remodeled since it was built. There were no 3 prong outlets in the room except for in the bathroom which […] looks like they may have updated it at one point. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This may not be the hotel for everyone, but anyone can certainly stay here. It was extremely close to downtown, Motown Studios is ten minutes down the street, the bridge to Canada is ten minutes away, parking is safe and secure. "Great place for the budget traveller"
It's not the Ritz, but if you use your hotel simply as a place to sleep and shower before/after you're out exploring the city, then you can't beat the Corktown Inn at the prices they charge. Spent three nights there while I was in town for the jazz festival, and am planning to do the same next year. Only complaints: 1. The WIFI was really inconsistent, […] so if reliable 'net access is important to you, be prepared to haul your laptop to a coffeeshop. 2. There's no real place to eat in quick walking distance (it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the center of the city) so be sure to grab a bite before heading back to the hotel if, like me, you like a late-night nosh after a night out. "It was convenient and a place to stay"
We went to Detroit to see a baseball game and we were able to do that! The distance to the park was not bad, but more than a mile! The neighborhood was questionable at best but the hotel was clean and had gated parking so not too uncomfortable. If you are looking for a romantic stay this is probably not the place but if you are only staying a short […] time this hotel is feasible. "Decent for a quick stay in Detroit."
The Corktown Inn was not a bad place for a quick stay. The hotel is older but pretty clean. the room was cozy but for the price was not bad. We had an event at the Cobo Hall and we were able to walk there. This saved in parking fees downtown as there is a gated parking lot at the hotel. It is not the BEST of neighborhoods so we did not walk at night […] but during the day was ok. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Great Alternative to Outrageous Prices To Sleep!"
This is a "get what you pay for" type of hotel. Alternatives are paying $100-$400 a night in the same area. However, I'm from Detroit so I knew the area ahead of time that I would be staying in, if more people would do their research then they wouldn't be so critical. We walked to Ford Field from hotel and then back to the hotel at night and never felt […] threatened at all. So if you're just going to be back at the hotel to literally just sleep you'll be good to go, if you're looking to hide yourself in a room all day… maybe you better checkout the $100-$400 a night rooms. Staff was friendly upon check-in and checkout, quick and easy process during both. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Budget hotel in a great location"
Room was rather dirty and the personnel not too friendly, but the hotel is located in a really great area of the city (walking distance from downtown, pubs, restaurants, Greyhound station, ...), and it's quite cheap. Some really great pubs are located just around the corner in Corktown (Michigan avenue).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was an experience"
It was something I had to take at the last minute because of another hotel that I refused to stay at. The Regency was ok until the light went out but I could walk down the hall in the dark without being attack. The staff was very friend and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would not have stayed there if I had my wife with me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my second time at the Corktown Inn. I came back because it was ok the first time. Now, I can't say the same. Maybe they changed management because it is not as nice as it used to be. Seems more like a short term apartment building then a hotel. I was very disappointed and will not be coming back to the establishment.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Corktown Inn is horrible. It was nasty."
Hotel smelled. Was dreadful. One step above homeless. 1 star is generous. My bed sheet had 4 cigarette holes. Whole hotel shared iron in a nasty laundry room. It spewed orange spots on clothes. No daily room maintenance.Genuine Expedia guest review
