"Good hotel for old people"
This hotel is in a good location. Nice rooms, but still I think the Rock hotel is better. Lethargic and officious staff. Food is a let-down. I ate both in the bar (very bad) and in the rooftop restaurant (not very good). The one good meal was the breakfast. I though the buffet was excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overrated Hotel - Spend Your Moneyt Somewhere Else"
Overpriced. Rooms are decent. Views are nice - but this is something every other hotel in Gibraltar can claim. Hotel staff was friendly sometimes. No adapters at the front desk. "Gym" is a closet with a few weights and 2 treadmills. Internet is extremely expensive ($45USD for 2 days) and is EXTREMELY SLOW. I asked for a discount or refund at the front […] desk for the terrible internet to no avail. After waiting 20 minutes for them to figure out if "they could" I had to leave to catch to make a meeting. Overall poor experience. I wouldnt stay here again unless I had nowhere else to go. This was like staying in a very old Holiday Inn - a cheap one from the 80's..... It did not feel clean, the staff was thin and not terribly professional - just a terrible place.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel, but overpriced"
No complaints, but a bit too much money for what you get.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Although very well situated this hotel is badly in need of a facelift. The rooms were dark and shabby and not good value for what we paid. The bathrooms were particularly poor and not cleaned properly. The breadfast was adequate and the service slow. They must only be full because of their central location and the dirth of hotels in GibraltarGenuine Expedia guest review
"O'Callaghan Eliott Hotel in Gibraltar"
The O'Callaghan Eliott Hotel was very expensive; our room was very nice, spacious, and clean. However, the lighting was very poor--very low wattage light bulbs; one lamp's socket did not work, and there were no other sockets to substitute with. The hair dryer was connected to the power source in a drawer and did not have a cord long enough to use in […] front of the mirror. There was no socket in the bathroom for a curling iron. WiFi was only available for a hefty charge. A hotel for this price should have had a refrigerator in the room. Air conditioning was quite feeble. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Probably the best of limited options"
We just returned from a visit to Spain and Gibraltar, where we spent a few days at the O'Callaghan. While the hotel definitely appears to be the best of the lot in the central part of Gibraltar, it is in need of some updating and more frequent maintenance. Upon check-in, the staff wasn't overly friendly. They weren't chatty and really didn't exchange […] any pleasantries or tips that you're accustomed to from more established hotels. The room and bathroom were spacious, but dated. The carpets in the room and hallway appear to need replacement, or more frequent washing. While very clean for the most part, our bathroom had some mold in the tub. Regardless of these poor, but fixable conditions, I would recommend the O'Callaghan based on the external condition of the other hotels, and central location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right in the heart of Gibraltar"
I have stayed here a couple of times and would recommend this hotel to others for its very convenient location and pleasant staff at the front desk and in the bar. There's a lovely terrace outside for sitting in the evening and the view of Gibraltar from the dining room is amazing. The bedrooms are a good size and (at least some) have small balconies. A […] couple of minor downsides from my last experience are that the breakfast serving staff could definitely have been a bit more friendly and the air conditioning in our bedroom was very noisy and not very effective. "Hotel in Gibraltar"
The staff was very friendly and helpful, they were probably the highlight of the hotel. The room was very comfortable and it was nice after a long trip of Europe and Morocco to have a great AC and shower! The English Breakfast buffet was great and the wait staff as well! The only downfall is the internet, it is not included in the rate and is very pricey, […] they do not even have free wifi in the lobby - which most hotels these days have AT THE VERY LEAST! But the staff was very helpful and instead of pushing the purchase of the internet they directed us to great spots for free wifi and great cups of coffee. A bit worn but clean and excellent location. Just a short walk to the cable car, the shopping street and the botanical gardens. Very good pub with British food, Beautiful roof top dining room with view of the harbor where the breakfast buffet is served. Staff very helpful. Parking in front of hotel. Only problem was finding the hotel and the roads are […] incredibly narrow. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good hotel in great location."
Good hotel in a central location, well placed for shops and the cable car. Room was too hot and the intermittent air conditioning was noisy. Breakfast staff were not very attentive but pool staff were. Nice pool on the roof which was never too crowded even in August.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel convenient location"
We have stayed at The Elliott on several occassions over the past 10 years, unfortunately on this occassion we did feel that The Elliott failed to deliver the top quality service we have come to expect from this 4* Hotel. The " customer service" seems to be more focused on the corporate side of the business rather than the leisure guest.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice hotel. Great views. Lovely swimming pool at the top. Meals were good. Maid service goodGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fair hotel, great service"
Aesthetically speaking, the hotel is nothing special. While the rooms aren't dirty, they are not super clean either. The staff though, was extremely nice and accommodating. Due to the fact that me and my husband adhere to a very strict diet, the manager allowed us to partake in the breakfast free of charge (as we were only having coffee, fruit and certain […] cereals). This was unnecessary and very kind. Summary: hotel is okay, service was great, location was excellent for us. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location - Reception service very poor"
Hotel in a great location, rooms comfortable but bathroom could do with a deep clean, service from reception staff leaves a LOT to be desired!! "Very enjoyable stay in great central location."
Arrived to find we had been allocated room above the bar. A word to reception and we were moved to room on 6th floor with sea view. Room was spacious and although not luxurious, was very comfortable. Was very windy in Gibraltar while there so didn't use open air swimming pool at top of hotel. Had great views over town, harbour etc. Pool not suitable […] for young children. Breakfast served in dining room with great views. Good service although food was the same each day but reasonable selection. Enjoyed jazz night in bar. Good musicians in comfortable surrondings. Did not use internet- Extortionate price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel, but staff could be more attentive."
The hotel is very centrally situated, right in the middle of town, with shops, restaurants & bars only a few paces away. Our guest room was spacious and well equipped, and the restaurant on the top floor was airy and pleasant with commanding views of the Rock & harbour. On the minus side, getting a car to the hotel is a nightmare, with the only access […] being via a warren of narrow streets. The staff we met.could have been better. The bar was understaffed - only a barwoman & 1 waiter on duty during Thursday's jazz night, with the latter resenting being asked for service. At checkout, I pointed out that we had been charged for 3 full breakfasts, whereas 1 was a cheaper continental one. The receptionist said "Oh, it doesn't matter" and moved on to the next guest! No reduction in price, or enquiry as to whether we'd enjoyed our stay. A bit offhand, to say the least. Nevertheless, we DID enjoy our stay and would go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"It Was OK"
Due to the roads I found the hotel difficult to find (my first time in Gib) and as a 4 star hotel it is looking very tired. Breakfast was ok but had to wait a long time for items to be refilled and the eating area (on the roof top) is too small for the amount of guests. AC wasn't working although they did fix it on request and we couldn't hang our clothes […] in the wardrobe due to the damp. Parking was an additional £12 a day and the spaces are limited. On a positive note it is an easy 2 minute walk to the shops and bars and the bed linen and towels were clean and refreshed as required. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel to stay - shame about the internet"
We arrived earlier than the 2pm check-in but this wasn't a problem. If our room hadn't of been ready, we could have left our luggage in the Porter's room and gone out to explore. Overall the Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel is ideally situated for easy access into Main Street, with plenty of places to eat […] and drink if you don't want to stay in. Breakfast was served in the Restaurant at the top of the Hotel with excellent views of the Rock and the Bay. I would recommend this Hotel for anyone on holiday. The downs side for Business People is the very high cost of using the internet/wifi. This is the only 4 star hotel I've been in recently that charged for this service. However, there are many places available, that don't. This aside, I would readily use this Hotel again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ideal location for all attractions"
The Elliot has a certain old world charm. The rooms are well appointed but the balconies aren't big enough for two people to sit out & enjoy 'Sundowners.' Room Service was fine but the choice of food limited. Room housekeeping was to an acceptable standard except for the permanent layer of dust that covered the furniture which was never cleaned away. […] Disappointingly bathrobes, face flannels were not provided or a mini fridge/bar which I would expect from a 4* hotel, Having to pay for WiFi is also odd, when every bar/restaurant in the area provides it for free. At nearly £18, breakfast is a little expensive, when 100 yards away a full English can be had for less than a third of that price. The biggest advantage of staying at the Elliot is its central position close to Main Street and all facilities. It's a short walk to the harbour or Rock cable car. The bar & gardens are pleasant and well kept and all the hotel staff were very helpful. All in all, I can recommend the Elliot mainly for its central location. The Rock Hotel as the name suggests is half way up a mountain & the Caleta is isolated on the other side of the Rock.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old and tired"
The hotel staff was mainly very friendly and helpful, from the cleaning staff to the staff in the restaurant, although the receptionist on our last day appeared less than enthusiastic about helping us get a taxi to the airport. What really let the hotel down was the actual physical condition of the hotel. The common areas were worn and old, but the […] rooms really needed upgrading and updating, with carpets being replaced. Our first room smelt horribly of cigarette smoke, which was not ideal for our 10-month old. The staff were very helpful in moving us to another room but that room was just as worn and seemed quite dusty. It was not that the room hadn't been cleaned, it was just that the fixtures and fittings and carpet were old and the standard dusting and vacuuming could not get rid of the air of decrepitude in the rooms. The pool on the rooftop looked nothing like the photos on the website - it was only half-filled and had leaves and old cigarette packets floating in the water. Not at all usable. It was a shame, really, because the hotel is ideally situated close to Main Street and very central. Most of the attractions were within walking distance. If the facilities were better/upgraded/updated, this would be the ideal hotel to stay in to explore Gibraltar. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Much better than expected. Highly recomended."
The hotel was a lot better in life than it looked in on Expedia. The photos show quite traditional rooms with bedspreads, however, in reality the rooms are bright and clean with modern white bedding and comfortable beds. The breakfast was fantastic buffet style with a choice of cold choices together with a buffet full English breakfast. Plentiful and […] very good quality. The breakfast room in it's self deserves special mention. It's positioned on the top of the hotel with virtually all around glass walls. It gives splendid views over the whole of the town and out to into the bay. To top it off you can clime a staircase next to the rooftop pool and stand on top of the restaurant in the open air solarium and have full unobstructed views over the city. The staff are friendly and happy to help at any time. The only one thing that takes away from the hotel was that the fire alarm was set off twice in nearby rooms by people failing to close the bathroom door. The steam setting the alarm off. That said it was rapidly cancelled and we did not have to evacuate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location Shame About the Room!"
The AA must use a different rating scheme in Gib than they do on the mainland as my room was nowhere near 4 stars. The first room I asked to be moved from - part of the fascia in the bathroom had crashed off the wall onto sink top, and the carpet had not been vacuumed in a long time. The second room was very shabby - mouldy plaster peeling off the walls […] in the wardrobe, a boiled sweet down the side of the chair, big black scuff marks on every wall, a whole chunk of the corner of the wall by the window broken off from floor to 2ft up. On the plus side there was a very comfortable bed and it really is in a great central location, and from what others said while I was there, it is by Gib standards one of the best, so do stay, just go with low expectations! My partner and I had a lovely stay at the O'Callaghan Elliott when we were in Gibraltar. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff both friendly and professional. "Pretty poor :-("
Pretty poor all round really. Went on business and needed to hold meetings at hotel so got a suite but it was awful, two rooms into one but somehow had 3 bathrooms ! All in all stupid until 3am when they started setting up for breakfast when I realised the rooms are directly under the restaurant - not stupid anymore but very poor planning. Complained […] and got told to take it up with 'customer caring staff' in morning! Moved room and refused to pay which seemed to anger them! Also got charged for breakfasts I did have and drinks at bar in evenings I didn't go to! Obviously didn't pay but also received with aggression! Amazingly poor all round. Hotel also very dated and poorly designed. I didn't take photos unfortunately Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Fire alarm went off at mid night. It turned out to be a false alarm but it was quite scary. The bedding was in old condition. I could free the scratchy duvet with bare leg and arm which made me very uncomfortable. The night shift receptionist was a good looking girl but never smiles. It was like I owe her £300 when I was checking in and tried to ask […] where can I have a descent dinner. The towel was not replaced despite that I put it in the tub. Chose this Hotel for our third trip to Gib. Have stayed self catering and at another nearby Hotel before which like many Hotels in Gib are a little tired and badly in need of refurb. Everything about the hotel was excellent except that outside the patio doors to room 111 there are the air conditioning systems which were quite noisy to such an extent we couldnt have the door open at all.. We enjoyed our brief stay at the Eliott and would certainly recommend it to others. The roof area and pool (although very small) are the best we have seen anywhere including 5* plus hotels.
