I think that my stay could have been more comfortable and satisfying. My stay in the Shawnee Village Resort had a problem with the temperature wherein downstairs was cold and the master bedroom was so hot. Couldn't adjust the temperature but had to raise up windows. The master bed mattress was very uncomfortable with a dip in the middle. I was not told […] that we had to buy wood for the fireplace that we couldn't use. Wow!!! With all the discomfort I tried to have a great time. Oh, for the recreation area I didn't know that my children had to pay in order to have fun onsite. My family and I were pleasantly surprised with the size of the villa in which we stayed. It was roomy and there were enough beds and sofas for our entire family of six adults. I did bring a twin sheet set to cover the sofas. Can't help it. I'm a germaphobe. There were three bathrooms -- two full upstairs and one half downstairs. We liked the back porch, […] where we secured our bikes. We also liked the recreation center where activities were plentiful. The staff were helpful and friendly. We met some really nice people while playing Texas Hold 'em. There were three issues that should be addressed before our next visit: 1. The villa could be updated, as it was showing its age. The beds were soft and sunk in the middle. I would also change the carpets and replace with easy to clean wood or tile. 2. Each day of our stay, I received an 8:30 a.m. call asking me to participate in a morning timeshare meeting. I didn't want to be awaken that early while on vacation. And, 3. When I booked the stay through Expedia, I wasn't aware that the hotel required a $150 deposit for possible damages. Read more

we got there @ 1:30pm and checked in but the room wasn't ready she said she would call the maids to make sure the room was done asap, was told to come back at 4:00pm so we came back @ 4pm and they called over to the maids and they said they just got in to the unit now, we were appalled as to why they did not do it yet they said they were very busy and […] tried to get us another unit but their were none so we had to wait til 5:15pm really!!!!! at least we got a 50.00 gift card for our trbles.the outdoor pool was too hot and the indoor pool was too cold and the hot tub was horrible 1 jet working. I would not recommend swimming in the pool at this hotel. Someone defecated in the pool and they only treated it and in an hour the guests were let back in. Besides that the rooms are nice and the miniature golf was a lot of fun.

We stayed at Ridge Top for 2 nights. It's nice and looked new. Check in time is 4 but unlike many other places it's not available until really after 4pm but you can use the pool and mini golf ($3/pp charge) etc facilities if you arrived early. I was very happy with the rooms and setup. All basic needs stuff for the apartment were provided.

Room mattress need to be replace. All thr Queen mattress make you roll in center of mattress from sides. There were no HOT water in POOL Shower and reception people can't do a thing whn complain abt it during 31st eve stay with this hotel. This is the second time in two years I have stayed at Shawnee Condos. Plenty of room, however the units are starting to show there age. The beds were very uncomfortable, and there were no extra sheets and blankets available to utilize for the pull out couch when extended family came to stay. Our stay was enjoyable, but we had some issues / inconveniences. We did not bring these issues to the attention of management, so they may have been handled if we had. The kitchen had a laminated inventory list of items that it should have beeen stocked with, of which probably half were not in our unit. The unit we were in was quite outdated. The […] living room, and both bedrooms did have TV's, but they were small box type TV's, and the DVD in the living room had to be played through the VCR. While I grew up in the area, and understand about the wildlife present, for some, the presence of bears could be an issue if they are not informed of how to deal / react to them. On our last night of our stay, bear had knocked over five or six of the garbage containers that were used in our pod of units. These garbage containers are no where near sufficient to thwart the efforts of bears looking for food, so to them it is easy picking, and they surely come back on a regular basis. The other thing that was tacky were the bags of linens, not sure if thery were soiled or fresh, that were left along the walk way to the parking lot near our pod of units. If they were soiled, they should have been taken to whatever cleaning facility they go to, and if they were clean, they should have been placed inside the unit they were destined for. We would proibably suggest this property to friends, but would explain to them the things that we felt were not to our liking. Read more

The floor grates and radiators are rusty, the appliances are very old. The toaster did not work. The exterior of the building were well kept as were the buikldings but the furnishings need replacing. We really enjoyed staying at Shawnee. It was a little rustic, but a nice spacious 2 story home. Very comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, large eat-in kitchen with all appliances and a screened in porch. Do not expect it is a 5 star resort but an affordable and comfortable family resort. There are many free actitivies, indoor /outdoor pool, tennis, basket or valley balls, catching fish in river. $5 mini golf for 36 holes. You can cook but if you don't, plenty of selection of restaurant within 5 to 10 miles. Resort Pub has a special wing for $0.25 each […] with no minimum consumption from 4pm to 10pm on Sunday. $1 per game for pool or dart. Plenty of out door activities within 30 miles but you have to pay for it. 1.5hour drive to New York City without traffic and 2 hr with traffic. Interesting experience: 3 phones in the unit - all nonworking; smoke alarms? - didn't see any; dining room light flickered and would not turn off - perhaps due to the fact that some animal had been chewing the wires in the ceiling; and, oh yeah, said animal - much much larger than a mouse made quite the racket on the 1st morning of a 2 night stay, while […] it scampered around loudly and boisterously in the drop ceiling of the kitchen. When maintenance finally arrived 20 minutes after situation was reported, it was determined that a trap needed to be set (very clear and obvious signs of chewed electrical wires). No excuse for this in a resort that is open year round. Was promptly moved to another unit with no further mishaps. Other than that - lovely resort! The unit we were given while spacious was unkempt and worn overall. My kids found a pile of used tissues just under the couch and I found ciragette ashes in the corner of the bathroom. IN addition, the VCR and DVD player were not hooked up , and didnt have proper adapters when we arrived( we had to call maintenance for this and wait for them to come-- […] very inconvenient). We took the kids skiing at Shawnee Mountain, the hoel was really close to the ski resort. Everything in the kitchen was working fine, so if you bring enough food, it's OK. It has everything that was promised. The kitchen was clean enough, but when we first entered, there was a strong funky smell, we had to keep the door open for a while to air it out. […] Bring a can of air freshner if you can. The laundry closet was very dusty. It's obvious that it hasn't been cleaned for a while. The room that's supposed to have a king-size bed had a queen bed instead, but the bed linen hasn't been updated, the oversized sheets were really uncomfortable. We came for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful, so relaxing, the unit was beautiful the kitchen was full of most necessary tools for cooking a entire Thanksgiving meal. It started snowing and deer came right up to our screened porch, which my 3 year old daughter loved! It was a retreat. I will return soon with my family!

After reading many bad reports on-line I was tempted to cancel our upcoming stay, but we went anyway and were very impressed. The check-in staff were very helpful and worked hard to find us the best unit to suit our needs. We were placed in an end unit away from other guests and facing the forest. The linens were clean and crisp (we checked immediately for bedbugs by flipping over the mattresses on our arrival).
