"Close to the Airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
It was a pleasant, clean and modern place to stay before we left Italy the next morning. The free shuttle service to the airport was a nice perk. The evening reception desk person was very friendly and also gave us great advise of a good place to eat in the area.

"Good value."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
All in all a great little B&B. Only small annoyances location on main street a bit loud, internet when it did work: it was very slow. Housekeeping only available before 12pm. So if you are not out of your room by then you won't have toilet paper, fresh towels etc. Good perks free snacks and and drinks.
"Hotel Milton Roma-location cannot be beat"
The location is amazing. My wife and I were able to walk to the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. The colosseum was just over a half mile away and a straight shot down the same road as the hotel. The Trevi Fountain was a short quarter mile to half mile walk from the Colosseum. The metro station was literally right across the street from the hotel. We used […] that to get to Vatican City and the Spanish Steps. You could not beat the location of the hotel. However, although the rooms had good size, we did not feel that they were as clean as they could be. For example, the carpet in our room just seemed to be a little warn/dirty and the bathroom shower could have been cleaned a little better. There were some scuff marks on the walls. The beds were firm, which I did not personally like, but some people do. There is also no fitness facility for those that may be interested in that. Overall though, the room was comfortable to be in and the hotel itself was clean. The hotel did offer a decent spread for breakfast so it is worth the additional cost to include with our room when we booked. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Although not a true four star hotel in my opinion, I would recommend it to anyone looking to visit the historic attractions Rome has to offer. If you are vacationing to Rome and not concerned with seeing the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City and/or Spanish Steps, then I would suggest that you find a more modern/upgraded hotel with a few more amenities. "Great service but in a removed location from the sites"
The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Milton Roma offered excellent free breakfast options and service. The downsides of the Hotel are that it is removed from all the heart of the city Roman sites/restaurants and the noise from the intersection that the hotel sits on was quite annoying.Genuine Expedia guest review

"This hotel was ok."
The hotel wasn't to far of a walk from the Colosseum, probably about 15 minutes or so. Becareful about playing with the air condtion in the room, we were told not to tough the thermostat because it was central air. He told us he would only fix it once and it never really did get cool in the room. The internet was easy to use and worked just fine. The […] gentleman at the front desk recommended a decent restaurant at the end of the street (last one on the left). We used this hotel just as a resting place and it served it's purpose. The breakfast wasn't anyhting to brag about either. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good value for money"
Well-located at walking distance from the Coloseo and across the street from Manzoni subway station. The only downside is the noise in some rroms (avoid room 220) due to the proximity to the tram stop and constant traffic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel. 2 Stars by US standards"
The hotel is located about 3/4 mile from the Coliseum. The neighborhood is good and not too close to the rougher area by the main train station. My room was very loud at night due to the train and the subway beneath. It was nice they served breakfast. It was almost a 3 start hotel by US standards. It was not worth the price that I paid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice European Hotel"
This was a nice European Hotel. Excellent breakfast, location, service. Across the street from the subway and down the street from the Colosseum, the location would be hard to beat. American travelers not used to tiny rooms, beds, and bathrooms might be put off but it was pretty standard for my trips outside the US. They only had wired internet which […] put my wireless devices off. My only complaint would be the shower which was small, had just a hand sprayer, and the shower curtain didn't even reach the bottom of the shower. Even after getting over that water was going to get everywhere (which the house service would clean up), having to use one hand to constantly hold the sprayer made it awkward to use. Still, if I went back to Rome, I'd put them at the front of consideration as a place to stay again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel Milton Roma in Rome, Italy"
Nice hotel. Good location at a Metro stop. Easy walk to Coloseum, etc. Neighborhood OK. Several restaurants nearby. Hotel personnel very helpful. English spoken. Good breakfast. Air cond.- fair. Room nice. Clean. Security safe & mini-bar in room. The glass half-panel in the shower was a little tricky, but we got used to it. A better tub enclosure would […] help. We would return. "Great Location"
The hotel was cute and in a great location. The bar area, only place you can get WIFI, was nice. Great little restaurants everywhere. The room was clean. It was small but had enough storage for our items. The bathroom was updated. They had a great breakfast available but don't be fooled... it's not included in the price of the room. We didn't realize […] that it would cost us 15 Euro per breakfast until it was time to check out. Also, we had hotel employees walk into our room. Once it was the bellboy and the other two times it was housekeeping. They would knock and then unlock the door and open it. No chain available. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Milton Roma, excellent breakfast!"
This hotel was an excellent choice. The included breakfast made every morning easy to get a well balanced meal. They hosted a whole spectrum of breakfast foods. It was close enough to the the sights that one could walk, or ride the bus. They were right off of a metro stop, so coming from the airport via the direct train (Leonardo Express) then catching […] the metro to the Manzoni stop makes it incredibly easy to find. "Can't recommend"
Although this hotel had a very friendly staff and was not very far from the Colosseum, the hotel itself had some issues with its actual location. Hotel Milton Roma was a nice, simple hotel in a convenient location. It was clean, well-kept, and equipped with standard room amenities. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and multi-lingual. "It was ok"
The hotel is across the street from a metro station (2 stops from the main train station), so if you're going to get around Rome via metro this location would work for you. I preferred to walk around the city, and this was just a bit too far from the center of town. That being said, we did it several times, but we left in the morning and came back at […] night. I would have liked to have the ability to go back to my room to take breather or drop off bags. The hotel is very clean and looks like any business type hotel. Kind of reminds of a Marriott. The staff was helpful, except for some reason they don't allow irons in your room. The bathroom has one of those half doors on the tub. Maybe Europeans know how to use this, but whatever I do, I get the whole bathroom soaking wet after a shower. The breakfast ok. As other reviewers have stated the eggs and bacon were not appetizing, but you did have choice of fruit, cakes, cereal and yogurt. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good deal in a reasonable location"
The Milton Hotel in Rome is at first glance in a non-descript neighborhood not far from the main train station (Termini). However, it is located right next to a stop on the Metro subway system which makes getting around the city reasonably easy. My room had a plumbing problem (leaky drain) the first night which was repaired quickly, and in other ways […] I found the service quite satisfactory. The hotel decor is a bit tired, however. Breakfasts (included in the price) were ample and varied, but some of the food (especially eggs) were poorly prepared. Nonetheless, I would gladly stay here again, given the reasonable price (during the busy spring tourist season) and the easy access to public transportation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very convenient for Rome"
The Hotel Milton Roma is very convenient. It is right by the Mestre subway station which takes you to all of the major sightseeing places. If you are game, you could easily walk to many of them from the hotel also. The staff at the front desk speak English and provide you with all the information you will need for your stay in Rome. "Great hotel: convenient location, nice people, good value"
I stayed in the Hotel Milton in Rome for about 10 nights in March. The hotel was exceptional and made the trip for me. It was a great location with many places within walking distance and, for those that weren't, the metro was right outside the front door. The room, though tiny, was comfortable and clean. The staff was always friendly and helpful. And […] the breakfast buffet was phenomenal. That alone was worth the price of the room. In addition to breakfast, we would also make a sandwich for lunch. Amazing selections and it all tasted great too. Additionally, the breakfast room setup lent itself to getting to know your fellow travelers which was a nice benefit. From reviews I read before the trip, I went up the street about half a block to use a more economical internet cafe, rather than the hotel's service. Also discovered a great little restaurant up that same street. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A good location in Rome"
A decent hotel in a good location. The staff is terrific. The breakfast buffet is boring but okay.( I had a terrible cold the entire week and would have appreciated if the desk staff had sent me a pot of tea on the days I stayed in my room, but they were pleasant.) "Hotel Milton--Stay elsewhere"
Cons: After reading all of the great reviews, we decided to stay here on our recent trip. Our first room (on the third floor of the hotel) was on a major street, and the windows are single pane glass (NO noise filtration). It literally sounded like the cars were going to drive into our room.... all night. The third night they found a room on the other […] side of the hotel off of the main road. At first glance it was much better, until we walked into the bathroom and saw mold all over the wall. The shower is just a faucet with a drain on the floor (i.e. no tub) and the walls are not all tiled, so the drywall has molded quite badly (at least in that room). That night, when we went to sleep, all we could hear was a dripping noise in the wall. It sounded like there was a leaky pipe, and then we noticed the ceiling had a giant water spot. The hot water in the shower jumped all over the place. We went in early March, and despite cold temperatures outside, the room was very hot, and regardless of how low we turned the air conditioner, it made no difference. The windows in our second room did not open, so we were stuck being hot. Pros: Hotel staff were very helpful, and the continental breakfast was good. Cheap. Close to the metro (though the Rome Metro closes at 9:00pm every night but Saturdays for the next two years because they are doing construction on a new line). Summary: Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra for a nicer place closer to the city center. On the surface the Hotel Milton looks great, but once you dig a little deeper, you can see that you do, in fact, get what you pay for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can't beat the price"
We had a very good experience at the Milton Roma. They allowed us to check in very early to our room and the staff were all very cordial and helpful. We had the largest room in the hotel which was great - it was a little sparsely furnished, but all the essentials were there and the bathroom was very modern. The hotel is a little off the beaten path […] - the neighborhood is safe, but is more of a regular neighborhood - not necessarily high end. "Hotel Milton Roma in an excellent location"
Hotel Milton Roma is directly across the street from the subway line B (Manzoni station). We should have bought a 7 day subway pass but ended up getting a 3 day instead. It was very easy to get arouund the city on the subway (it saved a lot of walking). All the staff at the hotel Roma was very helpful with answering what questiones we had. The room […] was bigger than our previous hotel but still kinda small compared to hotels in the states. We we first got into the room there was no power, no lights no tv electrical plugs didn't work. The electronic key card is used in a slot in the wall next to the door to activate the power to the room. So when you walk in you immediately have to insert the key card into the slot if you want lights on. The hotel offers internet but only wireless is offered in the lobby area. You will need an ethernet cable to connect with. The front desk provides a cable for free with paid internet which is really cheap. The tv in the room plays all kinds of movies but they are in Italian diaglog. Their are plenty of electrical outlets for your camera batteries, cell phone, and laptop all are 220v. The shower is my only complaint. It's a standup type shower and the base is just 2 feet by 2 feet square. The shower curtain seems to be too small to wrap around and water leaks through between the wall and the curtain space onto the floor creates puddles on each side of the shower. I had to move the toilet paper cause it got soaked the first shower I took. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rome was great but not impressed with this hotel"
The Hotel is near the Colloseum and many other attractions. It is immediately across the street from the Metro and bus stops, which is very convenient. Under no circumstances should you exchange your money at this hotel. Thye advertise money exchange and they do so, but they are making a killing with thier exchange. They do not use the current exchange […] rate and I am not sure how they arrive at their figures. For example, $100 US was being exchanged there for $55 Euro. The going rate was $71 Euro. The location is perfect. Bus nro 3 outside the door goes to the art gallery museums(direction Thorvaldsen (left)) and other direction (right) goes to Trastevere Railway station, where you can hop on the local train to Da Vinci Airport. Cheeper than take the Da Vinci express from Rome main station - and not so lot of walking. The Manzoni undergound station […] is across the street from hotel doors. The beds are too hard overall South of Europe, and there are only a couple of "kitchen chairs" in the room - You must sit on the bed to relax. The TV films is dubbed in italian - exept the BBC cannel. (Funny to look at an italian speaking John Wayne and its not John Wayne´s voice) Overall, the hotel is OK and the breakfast is OK . "Hotel Milton Roma - Not a 4 star hotel"
All of the reviews you read about the flooding shower are true. Since the shower curtain (which is dirty and disgusting) is too short, it does not do anythi g for keeping the water inside the tiny shower basin (and it is tiny!). Therefore, I had to usey clean rowels to soak up the flooded floor everyday, which was an absolute pain and plain gross. This place was nice. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They spoke English which was a big plus. The breakfast they put out was delicious and plentiful.
