Enjoyed our stay overall. Room was on 2nd floor, a few doors from the beach. View from room was beautiful. It was very quiet / relaxing, as there did not seem to be many other guests the first few days. There was a somewhat noisy guest in the room right next to ours on third night, which was unfortunate, because there were so many available rooms, why […] not space the guests out? Had a fridge and microwave in the room, great to bring left-overs back from the restaurants we visited. Had excellent meals at Spindleshanks (walking distance) and Soule Domaine. Very convenient bus service nearby, servicing north and west shore, and most ski resorts, so didn't need a rental car. The only disappointments were the uncomfortable mattresses, and the room not being completely dark at night. The porch light remained on until 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. (not controlled by switches in the room), and small windows at top of the entry door allows the light to come in. Both spouse and myself have to have room pitch black to sleep, ... finally draped a towel over top of the door to block out the light. Also had to keep bathroom door closed, as blinking traffic light nearby shines into the bathroom all night. The service was good overall, especially when the fireplace in our room didn't work, two separate nights. Staff addressed it immediately, and the second time they even brought a portable heater. Would definitely stay there again. Clean, convenient place, right on beach, with beautiful view, great staff. Read more

Great location right on the lake. Nice big rooms with lots of furniture. Little kitchen area with toaster, microwave, fridge, sink. Two outdoor hot tubs that we sat in while it snowed! I've been staying at Mourelatos since the early nineties, before the fire, miss the old knotty pine paneling. But Andre and Mary did a great remodel job, and now Alex maintains the quality and charm that is the MLR. On this trip I invited a couple that I am friends with, their first visit to North Shore, and they were impressed with the resort and certainly […] the location, they are planning on bringing their kids up later this summer. I personally enjoy the ease of accessability of nearby restaurants, stores and public transportation, although walking to Kings Beach is only half an hour away. All in all, always a pleasant stay. We everything about our stay except for the manager's attitude when we had difficulty with our frozen car and had to check out a little later than standard time. Although she did allow us to check at 12:30 instead of 11, she was not very courteous about it.

I would choose to stay in this hotel again if heading to Lake Tahoe. The hotel is right on the beach and the hotel is structured so that every room gets a view of the lake. The rooms are large and they have comforters with duvet covers (which is a personal preference of mine) and high thread count sheets and pillow cases rather than the old fashioned […] bedspreads (which aren't laundered after every guests use). Perfect location is the best thing about this hotel. It definitely needs updating. Room decor is still decorated from the 1970's or at least our room was. Staff was friendly and helpful as far as suggesting local restaurants and nearby hiking trails. Lots of kids running around and up and down staircases, not the best place for a romantic weekend. Spring break the hotel was very quiet during the weekday, weekend much busier. Room was comfortable and clean, much like a small apartment. Kitchen was a great bonus. Quick drive to restaurants and sights. Nice beach area, we had it to ourselves most of the time.

We asked for a baby crib to wait for us, they charged 15$ per day and we arrived - and no crib .. since it was 20:30 when we arrived no one was there (the keys were waiting for us in an envelop), no one to talk with, had to do with no crib. The next day I asked for the crib as soon as possible, - they said 15 minutes ... no crib. ~15:00 we put the do […] not enter sign on the door since the kids fell asleep - loud banging on the door - 3 people with the crib, wait, we forgot to put sheets we will be right back, after 15 minutes they are back with the crib ...banging again (woke up the kids). when I mentioned it they didnt said a thing ... the hotel itself is nice, but a very high price for a very plain hotel. maybe in the summer it worth it since its close to the lake, yet in the winter its a waist of money. We traveled with my mother, husband, and our two kids under 4, and this hotel was perfect for our first ski trip as a family. The kitchenette was clean and had everything we needed to save money by cooking our own food, and was pleasant to share meals in too. The beds were both comfortable - my mom used the sofa pull-out bed - and everything worked […] great. The fireplace heater worked excellently and the knotted pine ceiling and room ambiance were gorgeous. We skied at Northstar, and found it to be a quick 10 minute drive away. The hotel is also very close to a local snow park (practically across the street) that includes great sledding (perfect for young children!), snowmobiles and more. The hotel is also on a lovely beach, and has a gorgeous view of the lake. The hot tubs were also very fun and welcome - my daughter loved the "hot pools" which she loved throwing snow into (I tricked her to make sure she got out to cool off often enough!). The view of Lake Tahoe was incredible, and the room was spacious and comfortable, including a nice kitchen area. My only concern was with the heater. The heating unit was right next to the bed, and it made me uncomfortably warm when the heater came on during the night.

My husband and I stayed the weekend and found the room to be very romantic and it contained everything that we needed. The fireplace worked great and provided plenty of warmth for the cool weekend. The beach was clean and had plenty of supplies for guests to enjoy it. We plan on staying here whenever we are in the area.

Beautiful site with clean, well appointed rooms, the Mourelatos defines a family run inn. Probably best for weddings and family reunions, we found a mid-week stay to be enjoyable. The highway resurfacing at night did make sleep difficult, but the hotel can't control the need to work during the fall quiet times. The front office was helpful, accommodating, […] and never pushy. Hot tubs were aged, but clean. Some winterizing had already started so beach showers were off, kayaks were chained, but available when the maintenance staff was free. We have been coming here for 17 years, since our daughter was small. We hadn't been back in a few years but were glad to see that it was still a great place to stay. The property has a great beach, it's close to great restaurants, shopping, & fun summer things to do like boating & rever rafting. We look forward to returning!

This is an exquisite place to stay, right on the shore of Lake Tahoe. The lake was about 20 steps out of my door. The views are unparalleled and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They have a beautiful beach and lots of activities (kayaking, jet skiing, paddle board riding). You are also close to para-sailing. There is a grocery store nearby. […] Each room has a refrigerator and a microwave. There is a table and chairs on the deck, so you can have any meal outside while looking out at the lake. I fell in love with Lake Tahoe and when I go back....I will stay here again! You are away from the hustle and bustle of South Tahoe. It's peaceful and much quieter here. The weather in the summer is fabulous! Blue skies, temperatures in the low to mid 80's, and a nice breeze.....and no humidity. Coming from the East Coast.....this was simply heavenly! Now I know where the ski resort gets its name! Yes, this place is more expensive than your standard hotel, but it is worth EVERY penny! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!! The only negative thing I can say is that the curtains were not completely room darkening and the doors had a window which didn't have a covering of any kind. Ground floor Kitchenette ( Second floor better views ) -Best Location I have ever had at Lake Tahoe. Direct view of lake from the large living room window. Water is abot 50 to 75 yards from your front door & deck.Bathroom very good, Bed ok. TV has fair cable access but I had to re-scan channels to get news channels- no TV listing. Sterio and DVD was […] better than most hotels / motels . No place to put luggage. No desk , table or vanity in room except the Kitchen table wich was in back with the Kitchen ( no view ) . Kitchen utilities were good but I had trouble making microwave meals because there were no good size microwave bowls, no towels paper or cloth and coffee maker is the worst I have ever used. Fortunately there are many good resturants , grocery stores and fast food near buy. I recommend Log Cabin Cafe - The best breakfast in Tahoe. I would stay again for the shoulder season rate I got , but for the regular rate one can do much better ,unless the doorfront access to the beach is important to you- that is rare. Read more
