But it was close to the train station, which getting in at midnight made it very convenient. This was the nicest of three hotels that I stayed in Paris at a similar cost. We had to walk pretty far up a stair case to get to our room, but that wasn't a big deal. Room seemed pretty clean. It gives 'small' a bad reputation. It was uncomfortable. The service was poor. (I asked for a wake-up call since there's no clock; that didn't happen.) Not even a small fan to move the stifling air around. You couldn't move in the shower. I could go on and on, but it was just a bad experience.

The hotel was okay but served it's purpose for us. We just wanted a place to crash that was near a train line. The trains are easy to figure out and so we were able to access all the tourist attractions. Pro's: -Room was average -Near train line -small grocery store open late directly next door if you have the munchies. -Food including Mc'Donalds walking […] distance Con's -Walls are thin so you hear everyone going in and out. -only tub no shower but tub was nice size. -German breakfast isn't worth the 7Euros pp. You can get better breakfast out and about so don't waste your money. -They make you hang up your key prior to leaving and it's accessible to anyone coming inside. The receptionist is there but does not check to ensure you grab the right key when entering so it concerned me that a criminal staying there could easily swipe my key for a few moments and hang it up as leaving and no one would know. stayed at this "wonderful" hotel for one night and payed way to much for it. the room actually wrapped around another room. the bed area was in a rhombus shape. the floors sloped so bad you could roll a bottle on them. there was none of the expected items in the room such as internet, hair dryer, a/c or fan, not even shampoo, or breakfast, and the […] bathroom was located somewhere on the other side of pairs. also there was paint peeling off the wall. once again i would have paid less and gotten more had i stayed at a HI Youth Hostel. Hotel was clean but the room was tiny. Bathroom facilities were excellent. Very close to fare du Nord and Gare l'est. Very easy access to train, bus and Metro. The neighborhood was not the best. A bar is next door and was noisy and it was uncomfortable for a woman alone to walk past.

We were a family in Paris for a couple of days in March, 2011. The location of the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Gare de L'Est and a ten minute walk from the Gare du Nord and the metro. Getting to any of the major Paris sights by metro was very quick from this central location. We did not get a chance to see much of the surrounding neighbourhood, […] but there are several cafe's and restaurants in the area. There are also a couple of bakeries around the corner as you walk to the metro to get the great French morning pastry and a baguette with cheese and coldcuts to pack away for lunch on the run later. There is a Monop (a small grocery store) around the corner where you can get just about anything you need. Safety was not an issue around the neighbourhood or in the hotel. The room was small but comfortable. We were only at the hotel to sleep at night, so we just needed a warm, quiet place to sleep. I had read some reviews about noise from the street, but I didn't hear anything usual other than the odd distant police siren in the middle of the night (we were on the second floor with the window facing the street). After full days of siteseeing and lots of walking, you should be able to sleep through anything! The bathroom was clean and bright. It was great for those who like to take baths - the water was very hot. For those who like showers, well there is no shower curtain and the shower head is hand held - watch you don't spray water all over the bathroom. We had to "learn" how to gently flush the toilet to avoid too much flush water entering the toilet bowl too fast and splashing out of the toilet. After a couple of trial flushes were were trained. I'm sure it was unique to the room were were in though, but try the flush before using it. It would be nice to have a box of tissues - we resorted to the toilet paper. I ended up with a triple/quadruple since nothing else was available. It was almost like a scene out of Snow White - four tiny beds all in a row! I slid three of them together to make a bed. Also there are decent places to eat nearby. We did not try the 7 Euro breakfast because it seemed expensive for what you get. The pictures on the web are deceptive, it's not nearly as quaint […] or elegant and with awkward stairs and hallways. The paper-thin walls meant that we heard way more from other guests than we wanted to in the middle of the night. Clean, only smells a tiny bit like smoke (seemingly, all Parisian hotels smell a little like smoke, even if they aren't supposed to be smoking rooms). Very nice reception, and decent surroundings. Close to Gare du Nord, if in need of a place to stay before flying out early.
