We would not recommend this hotel. Found it run down & poorly kept up. Don't eat at the restaurant next door either (which the hotel staff recommended--absolutely terrible).

Very historic. The place is beautiful. It's close to the train station, which was good for us because we overpacked. Our bags were heavy and cumbersome, so the 2 minute walk was a breeze. The location wasn't bad for La Cite either. The walk was between 10-15 minutes. The room was clean. It wasn't a bad size compared with other European hotels we've […] stayed at. I wasn't thrilled with the 10AM check out, but the staff offered to watch our bags free of charge while we left the hotel for breakfast. All in all, I would definitely stay here again. Read more

The hotel is not modern, not near Old City and not some place I would recommend. Rooms are Spartan at best. Front desk staff not helpful or polite. Parking on street. Internet by the hour.

Nice hotel. Decent location. Nice 30 min walk to the fortress. Older property meant nice big lobby and rooms. Reasonably updated and clean. Downside was the walls are thin and can hear neighbors next door. Pool is smallish but good.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Make sure you get a room with the front view, it's a bonus (may get a little noisy if many people gathering in the square). Room was cleaned every day, bed done, clean towels etc. Reception always there to help. Reception area beautiful, my family enjoyed playing a game called Carcassonne. There were some games […] available and snooker table (although that did not work when we were there). Sauna, jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool were also good. Lift only seems to be used at arrival to take luggage (a chair kept the lift door open), so may be an issue if you can't walk up the stairs all the time. I am sure you can ask reception when you need to use. It was great for my family though. Walking distance to the train station and the bus stop that takes you to the airport. By the train station, by the canal, by the park for our little boy, by everything you need.. The staff went out of their way daily to uphold this older hotels place in history.... Although most likely never in carcassone again, it's comfort will remain forever in our thoughts...

We arrived and stopped outside to establish where to park, there is an overnight carpark that is quite reasonable or the hotel's own which is more pricey. The foyer had a bit of a smell of drains, however this was no longer there the following morning. The foyer of the hotel is beautiful and, in October/November when we were there, very quiet. There […] is a lift but on the day we left it was out of order. The room was clean and spacious with a high ceiling a traditional feel. The hotel had a lovely looking indoor pool which we didn't sample. The breakfast was very good, with a variety of food to suit all requirements. We walked from the hotel to the old city of Carcassonne, it wasn't too far and there were lots of shops to look at on the way. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, the did recommend somewhere to try, but it was closed. After wondering around the streets we found a lovely little Moroccan restaurant. The owner had no English, but was very friendly and managed to understand our efforts to speak French. If you read the books by Kate Mosse, this hotel is mentioned in her latest book Citadel. This Hotel looks great on the photographs, but it is not great at all. We booked a superior room, and when we got there, i can only say it was very basic with wallpaper that actually hurt my eyes, and was very dated. we asked to change rooms, and we were given a better room on the second floor, but the room had a really horrible smell and we had to […] keep the door open the whole time. The hotel has a spa, which is ok, but when we got there it was extremely busy, you needed an access code to get in, and there was nowhere to leave your belongings. For us,arriving with heavy cases at the station,it was a relief to find the hotel a short distance away across the canal. We had a room on the corner overlooking the canal and the station. Hotel location excellent, as it was near the railway station and Canal . It is within walking distance of the Cite although there was the option of taking the little tourist 'train' which was located just across the road, if the uphill walk was too much (and very reasonable at 3 euro return) Beds were very comfortable and we had a lovely room with views […] of the castle. Hotel is very close to the train station which is ideal for travellers travelling to other destinations. Foyer is large and stylish. The rooms are about average, but the bathrooms are dated and there is no holder for the shower head. For the price and location it is still a good hotel and worth checking out.

Very pleasent and welcoming staff. Manager very helpfull and friendly. Archiitecure of hotel and surrounding area magnificent Everthing within walking distance including old city, restraunts, shops, markets, canal, river. Hotel supplied bicycles. We cycled to surrounding villages and vineyards. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We ( mature aged couple) stayed in this hotel for three days in September.The room was small and a little musty smelling. Although the weather was very hot only a heavy duvet was provided on the bed, with no alternative lighter weight bedding available. This is a large,old and impersonal hotel, somewhat lacking in charm whose sole advantage is it's proximity to the railway station. We booked hotel purely by location as was right at Canal. Very old fashioned. They let us drop our bags but told us we couldnt check-in until 5PM?? Room was clean but noisy aircon blew air around with little evidence of cooling. No hook for shower but this was expected. Bathroom was cleanish but lots of old workings to get to pipes evident. The Hotel le Terminus has been inaugurated in 1914 and was the focal point of Carcassonne in the belle époque. Housed in a beautiful art nouveau building with a collection of old furniture, the hotel is definitely worth a stay. It's also conveniently located next to the railway station and shopping streets in the city centre. That said, there are some […] flukes: the service at check-in was somewhat unprofessional, but nonetheless friendly. We had to change rooms once, as the first one smelled cigarettes and had some plumbing issues. The hotel restaurant does not provide a very high level of culinary experience, and breakfast is rather expensive, too. They also charge extra for using the pool / sauna area, and for internet (free wifi is available in a Bistro next door). All in all, the ambiance of the hotel makes it well worth a recommendation. One customer service officer had to attend to 5 people in a queue. No available parking. The bed was hard and dipped in the centre - no remote on the TV and the musty (or antiseptic ordour) smell was off putting.

Arriving on 14th July, the staff were overworked, harassed and not particularly welcoming. Ate in the hotel that night, the worst French meal I have ever had in 25 years of visiting France. The room was hardly up to modern standards and we were kept awake due to music outside, so loud that it was vibrating both sets of winndows. 10 days later we returned, […] welcome much more friendly, less offhand. Mais voilà, l'eau de la piscine était froide, la baignoire avait un problème de remplissage donc impossible de prendre un bain, l'eau de la douche à peine tiède sans compter la moisissure sur les joints dans la salle de bain. The room was fine. Nothing wrong really. Bathroom could have done with an extra clean, but in general it was fine. The lobby, however, spoke of different times, when the place must have been rather grand. I arrived at the hotel at 23.30 late evening, with my 10yo son, after been traveling all day. We were meet by a very unfriendly woman receptionist. By mistake I discovered, that I booked the room for August 28th instead of July 28th...But she tells me there were many free rooms for that night still..BUT for double the price, if I wanted one...I went […] on my phone to check on Hotels.com, and the rate was at the first room i booked. So of cause i booked it there once again, got my booking No. and went to show the receptionist... She was clearly upset by my action, and told me she did not have the booking , and i had to wait at least 2 hrs, EVEN she could se the booking on my iPhone....I began to be very tired , and my son started to cry, she could easily give me a room, but she did not.. Then I accepted the hotel to make a new deposit, on my card.. that she tried more times,, and told me it did not work,, fact was she entered my code wrong 4 times,, (all in all a waiting time over 2 1/2 hours, and no dinner for us) Finally she called her manager, who came and we finally got a room. I honestly must admit it was the most unfriendly situation I ever had on a hotel.. I will at any time recommend people to choose another hotel if they will visit Carcassonne... Read more

Das Hotel liegt ca. 30 Minuten Fußweg von der alten Stadt und Burg entfernt. Da wir gerne auf Geschäftsreisen abends noch weggehen, ist das Hotel nicht ideal. Zudem gibt es kein kostenloses WLAN, auch nicht in den öffentlichen Bereichen des Hotels. 2 EURO für 30 Minuten WLAN sind auch ein stolzer Preis.

A éviter!!! chambre non faite à 23 heures!! tout le monde s'en moque; de la femme de chambre à la réception. Impossible de se doucher à cause des sautes d'humeur de la plomberie. J'en passe et des meilleures. Triste réminiscence de cequ'était l'hotellerie française des années 50! Cet hôtel est un cauchemar!!!
