The hotel was very nice, very clean, but you had a choice of hard or harder regarding the pillows and the comforter is so hefty and warm that we all roasted. The second night I turned the AC to 63 and stripped the sheet off of the comforter and used two sheets together,but for the price - there should be better options. We host our annual fundraiser at the Palomar and have for 6 years. They do a fantastic job. The people are great. The food is fabulous. The rooms are nice and clean.

Comfortable and friendly. Beautiful heated outdoor pool. Excellent value. Only valet parking but perhaps, since our room was briefly not ready when we arrived after 3pm, we were comped the $20/day.

I really loved my stay at this hotel. The staff were thoughtful and considerate. Amazingly, after I had left I suddenly remembered that I had left a jacket. When I called the hotel, they went up to my room on the spot to discover that I had indeed left a jacket. So i doubled back and they had it at the front desk for me. I am so very grateful. The […] 214 restaurant is wonderful, making everything in a center stage kitchen in front of your eyes if you want. They are just beginning a new menu which is delicious and I wish them great success with it. If I had to criticize one thing it would be to rethink the down comforters on the beds that kept me a little too warm. Maybe they're more suited for Canada than Dallas, TX. Offering guests a cotton blanket instead is in order. Granted, if I would have asked them for one during my stay, I am sure that they would have gotten it for me--and I did use the afghan that was provided. Overall, a lovely stay in a great city. I have stayed with Palomar before and have always been happy. Not so much this time. THere was a smoke alarm in my room incessantly beeping. I called to have it fixed but since I was about to hop in the shower asked them to wait a bit to send someone up. They sent someone up immediately so I asked them to come back. They never showed up again. I called […] again. The problem was not fixed. I had trouble reporting the problem each time because the cordless phone in my room was not holding a charge. I also reported this each time. They never fixed the phone either. Pretty disappointing experience for a hotel of this caliber and not consistent with my previous experience at this property either. we found the hotel very nice -staff more than helpful. Our room was clean and very comfortable with robes that made the late evening warm and relaxful. The wine hour was nice and gave us time to meet other guests. They also are pet friendly - so we saw about ten or so pets.

I have stayed at the Palomar multiple times and always have a good experience. Contemporary pet friendly boutique type hotel with an excellent spa, bar and restaurant convenienly located near SMU and Highland Park area. Complementary beverages in lobby in the afternoon completes a very nice social vibe.

This was our 2nd stay and Hotel Palomar and it was as wonderful as our first. The only issue we had (that was really a non-issue) was that the hotel's signature zebra print robes weren't in our room. The hotel staff was extraordinary. When their shuttle was delayed, they paid a cab to take me to my destination. The only problem i had was the outside road noise. The noise seems to travel through their air conditioning ducts. And I was not on the expressway, but facing east facing towards the adjacent strip center. We stay here at least twice a year and are never disappointed with the professionalism and friendliness of the staff as well as the upscale atmosphere of the hotel. My husband left his blazer behind in a hotel in Austin so the valet at The Palomar lent him his for the evening on a moments notice. Now that's service!

If you are spending some time around SMU the Palomar hotel is the nicest hotel of a very few right next to the campus. Easy to walk to the campus and it is a really nice place to stay.

I was there for two days on business and really enjoyed the hotel. The staff was attentive and courteous. They upgraded my room and the only issue I had was that the upgraded room was just above the garbage area and the trucks woke me up at 3am collecting the garbage. Otherwise, it was perfect!

The wine hour was very pleasant, pool lounges comfortable, sangria was great, quick valet pick-up, easy check-in/out, pool layout was cozy, hair dryer/flat iron brought to the room quickly by housekeeping, and clean. This hotel, like the one we stayed at in Washington, DC, is a gem! The staff is so friendly and welcoming; it has a homey feel. They a dog friendly, offer free happy hour daily, and have a great on-site restaurant. I highly recommend these Kimpton Hotels over most other chains.

I am an avid traveller and I have stayed in numerous types of hotels, ranging from a Comfort Inn to your 4 or 5 star rated hotels. Hotel Palomar ranks in my Top 3, as of this moment. Its location in downtown Dallas, the decor of the lobby, the warmth and courteous front desk staff, the pool area, the restaurant (Central 214), the room itself..... I […] can go on and on. My husband and I decided to take a romantic mini-vacation & decided that Hotel Palomar fit the bill. The front desk receptionist was excellent as was the dog behind the front desk. (The hotel is very dog friendly & also offers a goldfish companion if you are traveling alone). The hotel room itself was pretty standard with some nice bedding. Sort of […] an upgraded Marriott. I would rate the hotel between a 3 and a 3 1/2. The pool area was nice, however, the pool service was slow and somewhat disorganized. The drinks were fine but the food was just 'ok'. The main problem we encountered was with the valet service. Upon returning our car Saturday evening we were walking into the hotel & one of the attendants actually backed right into by husband (in a car) and pinched the side of my foot under the tire. We didn't even get a 'sorry' or 'are you ok'? The attendants all just looked at us with their mouths hanging open. After returning home I emailed management about the incident & was responded to promptly by the general manager. He apologized profusely, comped our room & said that he was initiating an investigation into the incident. My feelings remain mixed about the establishment. I received 40% off the rack room rate. Had I paid full price I think I would have been really disappointed. That being said, the reaction from the management regarding the 'incident' was sincere & immediate. This was my first time in Dallas. The hotel is in a great location to the Katy Trail which spans all the way to the AA stadium (west end) of Dallas. Several times I walked and ran the train and eventually walked the entire trail into downtown Dallas to check out all of the tourist sites easily. The hotel is beautiful with free wine hour everyday and […] complimentary back massages in the lobby. Pool and hot tub connect to the Palomar residences but love the set up and everything was clean. Weekends they brought out the poolside bar and had staff on hand for food service orders etc. There is a local mall, Krogers and gas stations which made it convenient to save some cash. The hotel is right next to Mockingbird station and right off 75 which made getting around super easy. Staff were great, hotel was awesome, but you must be mindful as you will pay for the luxury. One downside was the mandatory valet. It was nice, but I dont mind parking my own car at my own leisure and the ability to save $20 a day not including tax or tip. Read more

Very conveniently located near Love Field....lots of traffic in the area though. Very good restaurant in the hotel, lovely pool area, also spa at the hotel. Shopping across the street. Lobby was lovely and the staff very helpful. Wine and appetizers served in the lobby at 5 o'clock in the afternoon.
